In a few weeks we will make a choice that will decide our future.
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
Also, he perfectly predicted the current real estate market meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen in the next couple years
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide ,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch , Fanny and Freddy Mae ,AIG
The government took them over because they are essentially bankrupt. Even with the goverment nationalizing hundreds of billions of dollars in debt the stock market is crashing
the credit markets are frozen and all of us may suffer beyond anything in the last 80 years.
McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand exactly what is broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use complex mathematical models very few people understand.
Bush and McCain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.
Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.
Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy. He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He didnt realize that anything was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime. Check out this link to the truth http://my.barackobama.com/keatingvideo
It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a surplus like Bush did but a crashing economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit. Most of it Bush created and it will take decades to pay it back.
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why are the polls even close then ?
Mccains team just said they no longer want to talk about the economy.Instead they would like to spend time talking about obama
which means running the biggest smear campaign in history.
They think they can just tell you lies and you wont be smart enough to see through it
Let's teach him we are smarter than that .
    Elect Obama Biden 2008

There are many reasons as to why Senator McCain is not electable. Please also read the article at:
    http://www.newsflavor.com/Politics/US-Politics/Senator-Mccains-Electability-Problems.285215
Senaor McCain is not running an erratic campaign by choice. He is 72 years old, most people are either dead or retired by that age. His erratic capaign is due to his deteriorating brain function. He cannot be blamed. I feel he is doing the best job that he can do. It is upto individual voters to choose the president.

  • Posted By: sarjeetgill @ 10/11/2008 5:54:42 PM

Barak Obama is the better candidate. In coming to this conclusion I have looked at objective data after cutting away the "dirt" which has distorted economic reality. You may read another objective article at: http://www.newsflavor.com/Politics/US-Politics/Senator-Mccains-Electability-Problems.285215 I agree that the election is far from over. My biggest fear is that Senator Obama will be killed by some rightwing radical. I also see Senator McCain as continuing to be erratic and not having a clear "problem solving abiliity." This could be a function of his age but I do not know the status of his health.
The country will decide on who the best person is.

Sarah Palin did nothing wrong. Obama is a terrorist and should be stopped. He is the reason our economy is the way it is. He is a crook, he took the most kick backs from Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae and truth be told he actually voted to de-regulate both of them. Americans need to get off their lazy butts and look into both candidates and find out the truth. Every vote both of them casted is public knowledge and can be tracked. Wake up America before it is too late. I live in Minnesota and I know what happens when you vote the wrong person into office. Remember Jesse Ventura? Protect your kids America vote against terrorism and against the terrorist Barack.

For someone who claims to do research you come up pathetically short. 1) Sen. Obama is not, nor has never been a terrorist. 2). Claims by republicans claiming that he is an elitist is totally unjustified (he actually lived on public assistance as a child). 3). He isn't qualified or doesn't understand as McCain (bush) likes to tout. This coming from a man who finished DEAD LAST in his class at the Naval Academy. Sen. Obama is a magna *** laude graduate from Harvard Law School. McCain represents what is completelt wrong with this country. I even have to take an issue with his judgement. At 72 yrs old, show me his judgement in choosing a VP who is unfit, unqualified, and does not have the ability to put together a coherent sentence when asked a few questions by the press. As someone who travels abroad frequently I can atest to the fact we, AMERICA has lost it's good standing in the world. It is too easy to shrug it off and say screw other countries. Oh wait, the BUSH DOCTRINE is taking care of that. Voting for McCain/Palin is putting the proverbial nail in the coffin. By the way, how can you trust a vp when she cannot be trusted as a governor in her state ?

  • Posted By: HistoryPhD @ 10/10/2008 10:58:30 PM

Apparently someone missed the news release this week that Obama's camp finally acknowledged his long standing association with Ayers. The news media carefully omitted it from the headlines. While that may not label Obama a terrorist, he did know that Ayers was an unrepentant terrorist before asccepting a position which placed him in close association with him. Furthermore, anyone who thinks McCain is a typical Republican hasn't looked at his voting record. Many from his home state consider him more Democrat than Republican. The comment about Obama living on public assistance is interesting considering that he grew up in Indonesia. He claims to have been born in Hawaii, but has not released his birth certificate and the state has no record of his birth. His foreign father and Muslim upbringing have tainted his views of America; he has no ties to the roots of this nation, the sacrafices made by our forefathers to establish and maintain a democracy in this land against all odds, or the fundamentals which raised this country from a rag-tag bunch of rebels, with strong principles, to a world power. He has absolutely no knowledge or understanding of any form of military, yet aspires to be Commander in Chief to one of the largest militaries in the world. I too travel extensively abroad and never have I been treated with anything other than kindness and respect. It is American travlers' obnoxious and "better-than-thou" attitudes which affront the people we visit, not our country. Our freedoms and standard of living are the envy of the world. In the last 3 decades, during a time of declining births, the U.S. population grew by 100 million. Not exactly the statistics of a country loathed by others. You want change and think Obama with provide it? You should be careful what you wish for.

    • Posted By: FERNANDO1958 @ 10/11/2008 3:20:10 AM

HistoryPhD, check Singapore. It appears to be more democratic (far more) than the US (giving high levels of education to everybody) and a high standard of living. All your comments, views, are bias. You think the Commander in Chief has to know everything about everything (like Bush think he is). He just have to be surrounded by experts, he has to listen and use common sense to make the best decision. Experience and knowledge means nothing sometimes (i.e. Cheney & Rumsfeld if you are going to use it for your personal goals and benefit. I think Hitler knew more about the military than anybody, and everybody knows what he used his experience for.
Growing by 100 millions, because the US doesn't have control in its borders is not necessarily a good thing. Is just a fact of life. Better countries control their borders and they keep their population under control.

With a name like "HIstory Phd" you'd think your research would be more accurate. Sen. Obama's birth certificate was the one of the very first things that was verified when people like you were looking for anything they could find to discredit the man. Secondly, I take offense at the fact that you fail to mention that in Mc Cain's zeal to choose his running mate, you seem to have conveniently overlooked the history of Todd & Sarah Palin.....Maybe Sen. Obama did serve on some committees with Ayers but that a far cry from someone who wanted Alaska to sucede from the United States. His membership in this separtist organization is a matter of public record... Gov. Palin is in bed (literally) with a man who take one of our stars off our flag. To use the words of Sarah "what is so imperfect about America that you would that would cause a man to want an entire state to depart from America? Yet I hear nothing about this.

    • Posted By: bluestar @ 10/10/2008 11:44:24 PM

" Our freedoms and standard of living are the envy of the world"...
its that sort of elitism that I and the rest of the world detest. actually, sorry but that is not the case. I unfortunately live here while my husband finishes his last year of education. As a foreigner from Germany living in this country, I have to say many people like you boast and boast about this country being the best and we are all envious and blah blah blah.... actually YOU DO NOT have any more freedoms than most western European nations, in fact there are countries more liberal and free than this... with a society much CLASSIER and educated than i have ever found to exist here. and actually, most of the world detests Americans for their obnoxious and arrogant attitudes, and their lack of respect for anyone other than themselves.

  • Posted By: advantageb @ 10/11/2008 12:28:04 PM

When someone berates anyone who disagrees with them then you have in front of you a bigoted, elitist person who is more dangerous to this country's health and its ability to heal its differences than any racist. You can see a racist clearly and know where he stands.    A person like the one rufreal6846 is so divisive, hateful, and full of themselves that it  personally makes me all the more less willing to listen to their points.John McCain deserves the right , he has earned the right to run for the presidency on his own terms.   Anyone who believes that Pres. Bush led US into this economic crisis, is either uneducated, or blinded by
a bias that supecedes all logic. Look at the Congressional record on the Senate Banking Comm. from
1999 on. That record speaks for itself. But elitism and bigotry disregards the facts.

The USA will be destroy from inside out by this thoug name hussein Obama, who has been conspiring for this for a long time.I will rather have an economic crise that will eventualy correct itself than living in a communist system with a muslim at the top of it.

You people who write in these discussion boards are idiots. You don't care that this country is going down the toilet because of Bush and all the other republicans, You only worry about yourselves. You people suck. This countries economy will NEVER get better and it will NEVER fix itself. Republicans have ruined everything this country stands for, but you ignorant people can't see that. In fact, you can't see at all. This country needs a change for the better, and Barack Obama is the man who's going to do just that, whether you ignorant people think so or not. I don't care what you stupid people think. I don't care what color or what religion Obama is. That's not the point. The point is, for you dumb people who don't understand, is getting our country back to where it's suppose to be, because it's not going to fix itself, and John McCain isn't the person, we would want trying to fix our problems. Bush ruined this country and what it stands for and we, as Americans aren't going to let another republican in office to screw it up anymore. So get off yourself and quit being racist, because it's not going to get you anywhere. Vote for Barack Obama in November, because that's the only way to go.

I can no longer support or be a member of a GOP that transcends itself as pure and holy then contradicts its image through seeding the notion of unethical practices against its opponents while walking the same path and trying to do it hidden. This party is no longer the honorable party in which I joined twenty years ago. Nor does it hold the integrity of the Ronald Reagan I believed in. longer. I cannot be a part of anger and hatred in which I have witnessed this week from Senator McCain and his supporters. To hear the hatred and bitterness I heard coming from his meetings is not the America I remember growing up within. Nor is it the mentality in which I want my children being a part of. We will remove our membership from the GOP and begin to teach our children in this house hold to keep an open and independent mind when it comes to politics.

Speaking of elitism.... Why is your husband attending school in the U.S....considering our inferiority?

Would Western Europe have democracy today if America hadn't led the way? And let us not forget World War II.....or the Iron Curtain.

Had you really read the comment, you would have noticed that it agreed with your assessment of the attitudes of many American travlers in other countries. But you must admit....you love our money.

And last, but not least, the population in Western Europe is only a tiny portion of the World.

I feel sorry for John McCain and his supporters that failed to realize from the start that their whole campaign revolved around the "underinformed voters". When America wakes up and notices that on the issues we have a Harvard scholar and professor of constitutional law (12 years) running against a graduate of the Naval Academy ( 5th from the bottom in a class of > 900 ) . The likelyhood that the intelligence gap would not show in face to face debates is unlikely at best. In the best intrest of the country and after the 8 years spent under an intellectual midget , it is refreshing to feel that the reigns will be passed to someone smarter than I am even if I have to drink my beer and bowl alone.
