In a few weeks we will make a choice that will decide our future.
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
Also, he perfectly predicted the current real estate market meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen in the next couple years
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide ,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch , Fanny and Freddy Mae ,AIG
The government took them over because they are essentially bankrupt. Even with the goverment nationalizing hundreds of billions of dollars in debt the stock market is crashing
the credit markets are frozen and all of us may suffer beyond anything in the last 80 years.
McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand exactly what is broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use complex mathematical models very few people understand.
Bush and McCain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.
Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.
Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy. He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He didnt realize that anything was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime. Check out this link to the truth http://my.barackobama.com/keatingvideo
It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a surplus like Bush did but a crashing economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit. Most of it Bush created and it will take decades to pay it back.
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why are the polls even close then ?
Mccains team just said they no longer want to talk about the economy.Instead they would like to spend time talking about obama
which means running the biggest smear campaign in history.
They think they can just tell you lies and you wont be smart enough to see through it
Let's teach him we are smarter than that .
    Elect Obama Biden 2008

I am still desperately searching for ONE thing Obama has accomplished.??! One piece of legislation he took the lead on? ANYTHING???

    ZERO ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND SCARY ASSOCIATIONS

SARAH PALIN IS MORE QUALIFIED TO BE PRESIDENT

  • Posted By: starwatcher777 @ 10/10/2008 11:13:13 PM

One thing that did strike me as strange was Mr. McCain's statement (Paraphrasing) that "Palin probably knows more about energy then anyone in america".

Could Palin even tell me what a Joule Is? A Newton? A Weber? Even know what the SI system is?

Somehow I doubt Ms. Palin knows more about energy then the Chemical Engineer who was designing the fractionation distillation tanks for the high starch ingredients for ethanol I worked for over the last summer.

    • Posted By: benkrapf @ 10/11/2008 9:11:34 AM

Yeah, she's got more energy experience than you...

She's accepted more pork projects at the behest of the energy companies.

    • Posted By: TimMD @ 10/10/2008 11:20:55 PM

Lighten up chemical engineer! Geesh.........he's a politician and obviously talking in a "political vein"
That would be like someone on the Dem side having said that Hillary knows more about healthcare than anyone else in the country. CONSIDER THE CONTEXT!

Not all polls indicate Obama is that far ahead of McCain. One poll has Obama out front by only 2 points. The man at the McCain rally asks how we got in this position with Obama out front. Obama is well educated and clever and is stirring up the anger of people in a sophisticated way. The people need to call time out, cool off, list the attributes of a good leader for America and compare the candidates. I have almost always voted for independent candidates. I have voted for Alan Keyes and would vote for Thomas Sowell if he ran for office. So it???s not about race. It???s about the views (including his willingness to permit the killing of a living infant that survives the abortion process) and record of Obama. I am so concerned about the facts on Obama that I will vote for McCain and trust the Congress to provide the appropriate checks and balances. The democrats and Obama and their entitlement program for housing have birthed a worldwide economic crisis that far overshadows the impact of the Afghan and Iraq wars.

I doubt you are correct Pallisor. There is plenty of negative events that can be unveiled with te McCain/Palin ticket. McCain cheating on his disfigured wife and applying for a marriage license to CIndy while still married (character flaw). Keating (character flaw). Palin abusing power (character flaw). Palin's parenting skills (character flaw). The dowright HATRED that is being created and accept by McCain and Palin at his events (character flaw). Calling another US SENATOR "that one", and basically calling him a terrorist (character flaw). McCain's actions as of late should offend everyone, not just Democrats.

    • Posted By: Pallisor @ 10/11/2008 9:05:01 AM

McCain was cleared of Keating charges 20 years ago by a senate committee. The rest of your comments regarding Cindy and crippled wives is simply your opinion. Of course, when is comes to hate I guess you missed the disruptive jerks who were arrested at McCain's speeches. Of course, you missed them. If you ever watched McCain's speechs you would have seen it. And funny you brought up character flaws...

Associating with a known, unrepentant and proud of it terrorist - Extremely poor judgment (character flaw).

Best friends and mentored by an extreme racist who thinks the Gov. is run by the kkk and created aids to kill black people - Extremely poor judgment - (character flaw).

Financial dealings and pals around with convicted and corrupt Tony Rezko - Extremely poor judgment. (character flaw).

IT IS NOT JUST THE TROOPER-GATE THAT IS WRONG WITH THIS LADY, SHE IS AB -INITIO FUNDAMENTALLY UNFIT TO BE THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE MOST POWERFUL NATION ON EARTH, MCCAIN KNOWS BY ANY YARDSTICK THE WOMAN IS UNQUALIFIED, BUT HIS MAD AMBITION TO ENTER THE WHITE HOUSE MADE HIM CHOOSE A WOMAN HE MET WITH ONY ONCE OR TWICE. WELL A PERSON IS TO BE JUDGED BY THE CONTENT OF THEIR CHARACTER AND THEIR EXHIBITED ABILITIES. PALIN HAS NOT DISPLAYED ANY SERIOUS INTELLIGENCE FROM HER UTTERANCES. THOSE WHO LIVE IN GLASS HOUSE SHOULD NOT THROW STONES, PALIN HAS KEPT HAMMERING ON OBAMA'S INTEGRITY WHILE ALWAYS PRESENTING HERSELF AS A CLEAN LATE COMMER. CHRISTIANS, AND I MEAN TRUE CHRISTIANS SHOULD NOT BE JUDGE OVER OTHERS, THIS WHAT THE HOLY SCRIPTURES, (BIBLE) SAYS. WELL IT DEPENS ON WHICH BIBLE PALIN AND HER CO-TRAVELLERS ON THIS WITCH HUNT HOLLIER THAT THOU ATTITUDE READ.

Sarah Palin is more qualified to be President than the imitation of leadership (Barack Obama). Barack Obama's experience was being a community organizer and advocate and representative of ACORN. Barack Obama wants to socialize America. Most Americans do not want to live in a socialist country. All they need to do is to look at what Fidel Castro did to Cuba when he socialized Cuba, and they will definitely know they don't want a socialist leader like Barack Obama. Besides Obama is most likely going to be a puppet for someone else if he gets elected. Sarah Palin is the Governor of Alaska and has executive experience for leading a government but she is not running for president...she has been selected to be John McCain's VP running mate. Joe Biden, Obama's VP running mate, is on record saying Barack Obama is not ready to be president. I completely agree with that statement by Senator Joe Biden. "Barack Obama is not ready to be president". NOBAMA!!! NOBAMA!!!

      • Posted By: benkrapf @ 10/11/2008 9:02:22 AM

Funny how almost all McCain supporters simply offer reasons not to vote for Obama. You'd think with all the pride they have in their candidate, they'd spend all of their time extolling McCain's virtues...

        Oh wait...

        He doesn't have any!

Even Bill Clinton points to liberal Congressional Democrats??? protection of Fannie and Freddie from scrutiny as a primary cause of the current economic meltdown.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsynspIqAoE

The link below contains a purported list of the top 25 in Congress who got contributions from the folks at Fannie and Freddie. Obama is listed third, after Dodd and Kerry, even though Obama is just a junior Senator. Obama is followed next by Clinton. Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi are on the list as well.

Then there is the Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher J. Dodd who allegedly got special mortgage deals from Countrywide, who gave preferential rates to 'friends' of company's chairman.

For an interesting article purporting to detail the House Financial Services Committee Chairs long history with Fannie Mae, See http://www.businessandmedia.org/printer/2008/20080924145932.aspx

"House Financial Services Committee Chair promoted GSEs while former 'spouse' was Fannie Mae executive."

The link below describes how some in Congress tried to use the original version of the bailout bill to divert money eventually recovered to groups like ACORN, a group Obama has a long association with. See:

And then there is House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who allegedly has directed nearly $100,000 from her political action committee to her husband's real estate and investment firm.

Why does this poll have a small sampling of Republican, than Democrats, or Independents. This poll is not accuare because of the sampling. Another thing is that people need to get educated about who caused this mess. Just as Pres. Clinton said last week that he and the Republicans tried to put stricter oversight on fannie mae and freddie mack, but the Democrats stopped the legislation. Wake up people, because nobody should want Pelosi, Reid and Obamma in charge. I he wins, hide whatever money you do have.

it has a representation of registered parties 38% dems 31% repubs, the balance indpendents, first time voters etc.....you can't have 50% dems - 50% repubs because that does ot represent who votes - you know people it is really simple but most often missed - all parties agree that there are basically 40% dems or leaning - 40 % repubs or leaning - the election is "never decided by these groups" period! It is always decided by the 20% in the middle. You - both sides - keep going back and forth about dems this and repubs that - most come up with 10 reasons "not to vote for someone" - seems it would be more productive to find reasons for this 20% in the middle to vote for ones candidate - naive - yes, I know!

John McCain is a liar. He has been touting this war hero nonsense too often. What exactly is a hero?

A hero is an individual that with complete disregard for his own safety puts himself in harms way to save the life of his comrades.

Has McCain done such a thing, no he has not.

My brother in law Danny did and took several bullets saving the lives of his comrades, not once but on two separate occasions. Danny earned two Purple Hearts for his Bravery and dedication to his fellow man.

Danny was a quiet guy who never bragged about his tremendous bravery.

    Danny was a hero.

McCain is a conman who helped set us up (deregulation) for the current financial disaster that we are experiencing now thru the Keating Five scandal, the last savings and loan disaster.

The Republicans are getting a dose of their own now. Palin abused her power as Governor (true), Palin as a "Christian" was encouraging hatred (true), Palin has a teenage, unmarried, unemployed, pregnant daughter (true) - what happened to those sacred "Family Values"?? Being of mixed race, I can honestly say that for the first time in my life "someone understands what it felt like to be caught between two worlds". My experience was very similiar to Barack Obama. I knew who I was - but no one else did. I was constantly reminded that I wasn't white enough for the whites and not black enough for the black. But I was an introverted child who observed EVERYTHING. and I saw a lot. No one ever called me a *** but there where other names... oreo, zebra, little red. Oh did I mention that I was raised in the south with a white mother. I came out of that environment still being very confident of who I was. Occassionally some incident would shake me up for a little while but it never lasted long. The bottom line is People listen up..for the individuals who think that a black man in the white house is going to only look out for other blacks GUESS AGAIN! He's not black, He's not white. As the article above states, he is the unique position of straddling that thin line between black and white. BECAUSE He is mixed he can speak and understand about the struggles of middle class white america and the issues of blacks in america. Just because its not YOUR experience doesn't mean it's not happening to someone. We all hold some bigotted belief -no matter how small the belief- that we need to let go of... I am a mother of 5 (children and stepchildren) and the thought of John McCain sending my sons to fight in this neverending war or Sarah Palin being a role model for my stepdaughters leaves me cold. When McCain deciding to bow down to the party and appeal to the female vote with Palin - I made my final decision. As if Sarah Palin could be compared to Hilary Clinton - YOU MADAM ARE NO HILARY CLINTON!

Washington is dirty already, if we send there tainted crooks, then we gona have a washmessington alltogther. comeon lets style up and give the democrats a chance to clean up the republican created mess.

No one is talking about when he was 8, but the fact he is associated with a man who wishes he would have done more bombings. She is talking about his judgment capabilities of who he surrounds himself with. Obama has lied about this assoxiation along with others. So come up with something better than one of Obama's weak answers.

Ok, judgment: McCain "palled" around with and used his influence to try and shield from bank regulators, a man (Keating) who, when getting out of jail wasn't the least bit sorry he cheated 21,000 people out of their life savings.

This issue was investigated extensively during the primary elections. We found that by the time Obama worked with Ayers, Ayers was a university professor and wasn't talking about bombing anyone. Ayers was working on a board to help children receive a better education and McCain worked on that same board. Most of us look at the situation and say it has no real merit as an issue in this election and then move on to real issues.

you should be proud that you've expanded your vocabulary. Now you know four words: Liberal, Muslim, Acorn, Ayers. Stop letting the wind whistle through your head at full speed

John Mccain has no shame, and decency judging by his latest manouvers. The more he digs the deeper the hole he creates. I once did love this man, and respected him butb alas, I feel so sad at the mention of his name. I feel he is losing his precious honor that took a lifetime to earn. This election should not become the vehicle by which Senator John Mccain loses his noble place in American history. What angers me the most is that he has dragged Ms. Palin into the ignomy of sleazy mud fight, and the once decent Alaskan Christian woman is now an agent of intolerance, hate, lying, and the chief of an angry lynch mob. How are the mighty fallen! It is such a shame

I once voted for John McCain too. I respected him and wished he was president but not anymore. He isn't the man I thought he was. The man I respected probably didn't exist because he couldn't have behaved this way. As for Palin, as the dirt comes out I think she has always been like this, she enjoys her behavior and is proud of it. She saw the opportunity to springboard herself into national politics and leaped to take that opportunity. A good Christian woman wouldn't encourage the hatred that she does.If we will know they are Christian by their love what do we know about Sarah Palin?

emmarcee, you are going to hate election day. Get ready fool, there is going to be a person of color in the white house. And the funny thing is there is nothing white people with small minds (LIKE YOU)can do about it. One more thing, the next President name is not Barack Husein Obama as you put it but, President Barack Obama.

What, is he going to change his name.... Again?

    Dear Republicans,
We are taking back our country you robbed from us in 2000. There is going to be a black President whose middle name is Hussein. Get over it. Liberals started this country and you can thank us for your freedoms.
    Have a nice day.
    Sincerely,
    Another Gloating Liberal Democrat

Whining and balling over something that never happened.... it doesn't surprise me, it's just as childish as gloating.

I'm dismally fascinated by the bs surrounding this election, these pollsters, and the ubiquitous fallacy that our elections are fair, accurate and really matter any more. It's just a matter of who counts the votes, where and when (2000, 2004).How on earth, since white Catholics have as "a group .....voted with the winner of every American presidential contest since 1960,' are we supposed to be guaranteed a 'secret ballot?" I was taught THAT was the key to a democratic republic' s survival. The next 'random' poll will want to break us down by blood type: be it pre-election which focuses on herd mentality, or the 'exit-poll' which focuses on influencing voters in earlier time zones. The media is REALLY the REAL candidate anymore, just with some rich suckers face on it. Put them on the ballot and the candidates can easily dance the puppet dance as usual once 'elected.' For the .0005% of 1% of those said to be participating in polls, the influence is skewed beyond comprehension. I've never been polled; not before, during, or after an election in 42 yrs voting to elect responsive, responsible 'winners' to represent me. Have you? Oh, why don't we blame the white Catholics for the state of the Nation. They have more influence since Kennedy than they deserve. By the way, when they start to break their polls down by blood-type, mine is AB+ and ALL AMERICAN. But the dream is dying before our very eyes....thanks in large part to our un-elected media's lack of ethics and a citizenry where 63% don't even bother with voting. Hell, they can buy votes as quick as anybody if only by working the social services systems to avoid work and/or being involved. They can just watch TV and stand in the welfare line once a month. Thanks for letting me express my heartaches. ???from the library in LV, NV ~ ~Homeless@60 since 2001.

I'm a white, Catholic female and was polled in a presidential poll last month. I'm 46 and it was the first time that I have been polled in a national poll. With 300 million people in the country and less than 2,000 people being polled in any one poll the odds are very small that you will ever be called.

Jim Brown, star with the Cleveland Browns in the 1960's, appearing with J.T. the Brick on Fox Sports Radio this week gave his opinion on O.J. Simspn: "America tried to deal with the phony aspect of the individual. They should have known that O.J. was not who he was pretending to be. Then all of a sudden they turned against him. But he was never who he was supposed to be. They just saw an African-American guy that was smiling all the time and saying the right things and they bought into that. Now they are suffering for it." ... America should stand up and deal with those who are for this country, those who challenge this country, those who stand up and tell the truth and stop trying to fill these uncle tom type of smiling African-American individuals because its so comfortable. Get rid of the comfortability and lets get real, and O.J. represents America being comfortable, he deserted them and now you have nothing but a mess because there are no redeeming factors in this whole situation." -- Fox Sports Radio

I just read this and it occurred to me Jim was also making this statement about Obama. So true

You have no idea what Jim Brown is saying. See, that is his point. Brown supports Obama.
