The state of the economy, 4000 dead US soldiers, crumbling education and loss of national dignity is NOT the blame of the media - it's the blame of REPUBLICANS! Anyone who voted for Bush should be held liable in a civil court for the devastation of the economy and criminally for the deaths of all Americans and Iraqis from the illegal invasion. Media - ha! Fault lies in the mirror if your republican!

In case you haven't checked the media lately, liberalism no longer exists. News television has gone so far out of their way to not appear biased that they cannot even take a stand when it is necessary. And the media is not liberal anymore. Anyone seen cable news lately? With exception of Olberman and fake news like the Daily Show, the news media is almost exclusively spun towards the right. And the left is still making a comeback. Anyone paying attention?

It took one hundred books, countless journalists, thousands of hours of documentaries to deliver the message of how Republicans caused near irreparable damage to our nation. Even with the worldwide damage and indisputable evidence of the pain Bush, Inc. caused for millions of human beings, nearly 50 % of the nation were willing to re-elect these guys , their philosophy and their fairly evident, illegal ways of governing.

In my humble opinion, Katie Couric near singlehandedly save a nation from itself.
Both Ms. Couric and Tina Fey deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.

If they do lose, erect a bronze statue of both of them and place it near the one of Paul Revere

Liberal Media.....Liberal Results. Worthless, bias polling is very misleading and good for Republicans.

The absolute most frightening development that faces mankind is the former succession member un-alderated, non
political unfettered power. This is frightful to me; I've come to expect this backward looking correct state; expected backward looking town that that over looks civil rights on a daily basis; but I do my best my neighbors never see their butts the next election; but a spouse? Time to devote a time to Lexis Nexis......Oh what joy!

Well, why don't we send Special Forces to go get Bin Laden in AFGHANISTAN, not Iraq, where we spend $12 billion a month. McSenile tells you Americans can walk the streets, Generals ride around in an unarmoured Hum-Vs and he wants to win, win, win. AND he doesn't care if we are there for 100 years. We have to stop this madness. Vote OBAMA/BIDEN!

There is another compelling reason to support Obama - the hideous hate-mongering of the McCain-Palin campaign, as evidenced in the hateful comments of republican and farmerstel.

Not only do they decide to associate Obama with Ayers, with whom Obama has had limited contact, but Palin has also decided to attack Obama's middle name. In addition to attacking Obama, McCain and Palin demonize anyone with a "funny" name, like Hussein and anyone who happens to be a Muslim.

Apparently neither McCain nor Palin under understand that Hussein is one of the most common names in world. In fact, Hussein was the surname of one of my students, a wonderful, diligent, gifted young lady. Her father, Mr. Hussein, was a concerned, loving, supportive parent who often checked in with me to find out his daughter was doing in my class. As a public employee, I have no knowledge of Mr. Hussein's religious beliefs. However, if I were apply the precepts of the Book of James in the Bible, which measures faith by one's works or deeds, I'd have to say Mr. Hussein's religious beliefs (or lack thereof) were far more worthy of God that the nonsensical claptrap which produced an ignorant bigot like Sarah Palin.

Beyond maligning people's names, Palin and McCain are attacking the loyalty and patriotism of millions of American Muslims, some of whom are serving our country in Iraq and Afghanistan. Once it becomes acceptable to defame Muslims, it becomes acceptable to defame Jews, gays, African Americans, Latinos... The anti-Islamic fervor of McCain and Palin's campaign reminds me of the anti-Semitism of Central Europe in the 1930's. And increasingly, a McCain rally resemble the cross-burning rallies of Ku Klux Klan, and probably Palin in particular attracts her share of Klansmen.

McCain and Palin are not merely anti-American. They are assaulting the very principles and ideals that this country represents. They are a disgrace to America. Every member of the Republican party, as well as their apologists in the media, should hang their heads in shame.

As a patriotic American, I have one choice. I must vote against hate. I refuse to accept the notion that America is a land fear, ignorance, and bigotry I will vote for Obama and his Democratic this November. I urge all other patriotic Americans to do the same.

This is probaly the most intelligent response in this whole onslew of responses. I agree totally. When I was in need of help once I was aided by a family named Hussein who were kind and wonderful people and an asset to this nation. This Republican is ashamed and as a Christian having belonged once to the same church as Sarah Palin and as a mother of five, I must say I am as far removed from Sarah Palin as one possible could be for I live by Christian principles as the book of James stipulates and barracudas and bulldogs are not part of that chapter. I am voting for Barack Obama because he has the intellect, the class, temperament, virtues, kindness and character a man leading a nation should posess and he swore on his family bible as he will againg when he is sworn in as the next president to SERVE us and not abuse us by his power. Thank you for your wonderful post...It is a breath of fresh air to read something intelligent and not laced with nonsense and hate.....

Beautifully said. It's so reassuring to know that there are so many others who see the frightening world of McCain and Palin. Can you even imagine how the world would view us, the most respected and powerful nation on the planet should she become President.. or even Vice President for that matter. Does anyone really believe that in a national crisis he'd ask for her advice or assistance? Perhaps to go get coffee for him and the other codgers. Obama is genuine. He cares. And he's young enough to be able to serve for 8 years which is what it's going to take to get out of the mess we've become. He believes in us. We must believe in him. Not only now, not only on election day, but in the days and weeks and months that follow. Don't let the inspiration fade. Don't think everything will be instantly better on that January day. He will be our leader, but it's up to us to follow his lead, support his ideas and carry them out person by person, family by family. The United States can and will be respected again when two men we can be proud of are representing us all. Obama. Biden. It just doesn't get better than that !

Thank you sir, couldn't have said it better myself. I am as white as white can be, but in my 50 odd years I have learned the stupidity and futility of bigotry, and reading these words by you, and the words of other people like you, is an inspiration to me, and other thoughtful people, who want to leave this old culture of prejudice and ignorance behind.
Obama/Biden = the best hope for justice, for ALL Americans, not just the privileged, the liars and the bigmouthed fools!

I used to think John McCain was an honorable man, but now after watching his campaign I have no such illusions.

    • Posted By: aRepubNoLngr @ 10/10/2008 6:45:44 PM

"Character," I feel the same way. It's sad to see the depth to which he's fallen. My hope is that he - like W - will drag the Repub Party down with him for decades to come. It will feel great to elect - at long long last - a man with vision. class, intelligence (thank God) and fire. But watching these fanatics at these recent McCain rallies makes me feel fearful for Barack. and our country.

      • Posted By: Character Counts @ 10/10/2008 6:57:23 PM

Yes, I agree with you. These rabble rousers are playing a very despicable and extremely dangerous game. It???s time to reject them and their tactics. Our America is better than that.

In the Old Days, AFR 205-57 would require any Air Force member present or aware of a threat to any government official to report it. Other Branches had similar regulations. I can not accept that Secret Service people are not watching these persons from now on.

Obama is no more a savior for America than Reverend Wright likes America. Obama will only destroy America if given the chance. This is not to say Obama doesn't have his good qualities and maybe only his anti- american wife could point out. No more could you trust this politician than you would trust Osama to turn himself in to be hanged.

    • Posted By: Nonpartay @ 10/11/2008 1:11:56 AM

I guess you missed the Democratic convention and Michelle's speech. Anti-American wife? Wow, heavy. I suppose this comment is in relation to her enthusiasm and pride she said she really felt after her husband won that primary. Did you know McCain said he never loved America until he was a prisoner of war? Never. Now there's a patriot for you. And Sarah Palin's husband was a member for the Alaska Independence Party that wants Alaska to seceed from the Union, and Palin spoke at their conventions several times including a nice video welcome this year. Nice picks, those folks! They have a lot of nerve questioning the patriotism of anyone, imho, especially not people like the Obamas who have always been about service to their fellow Americans and their country.

Living temporarily in NaplesFL surrounded by folks who don't want to blink .LOL Reminds me what a agent friend and intell guy once told me during some tought times, to just consider it a blink of an eye and so I do considere McCain Palin 2008 just a blink of an eye and a temporary nightmare.....and hope after Nov 4 I can go back to work and serve my country without being job stalked by a corrupt administration who retaliates if one becomes a witness..I cannot endure 4 more years of stalking by government paid insane religous fanatics, who stalk other Christians ....

The RNC makes this presidential campaign the nastiest in the American history. Poor Sarah, she is being used as an instrument that the RNC just blow in anytime they feel like their numbers are going down in the poll. The republican really sucks this year just because their leader has nothing to tell the American people about the economy. Instead all he keeps doing is send negative ads to attack Senator Obama which is really working in the Democrat advantage.
Sarah will feel very stupid when she realizes that the Republican lost this election this year.

    • Posted By: Braes @ 10/11/2008 1:07:59 AM

This is a nasty election, but not at all the nastiest. Lincoln's first election, Adams V Jefferson, and Nixon's second come to mind.
      It is however disgusting.

Pre-election polls by the left-led media groups don't amount to a bucket of piss. I, nor any of the people I associate with, have yet to participate in any "poll" nor do I intend to until the ticket comes out. So say what you will, you are sadly mistaken if you believe Obama has had the majority at any point during this campaign.

    • Posted By: Nonpartay @ 10/11/2008 1:02:29 AM

I don't believe the polls either. I think Obama is even farther ahead than the polls let on considering that so many of his supporters only have cell phones, and they don't get polling calls. Okay, so, like, is "bucket of piss" a biblical phrase? Do you think Jesus would approve? Um, perhaps you might read 1 Cor. 13 for some guidance in how to behave. It couldn't hurt!

Comment: Why don't we think before we write or speak? Why would a person want to have 4 more years of the same past 8 years? I think that if things are not better in 4 years we can change things again, thats the good thing about our American System of Goverment. We have no reason to fear any man or woman, but we must ask ourselves are we willing to make our Counrty strong or fight among each other and fall from within. I am a Baby Boomer , retired Military working and living abroad but we have always had a white President in America and all of a sudden along comes someone multi-cultured not 100% Black and some people are going crazy. The truth is its Un-American and we talk about human rights, and no discrimination, bringing up things that were talked about during the Primary Election to cause anger, be honest with your self Americans.
The Acorn voter registration debate could have been caused by anyone with a pen and a printer, it was not a secure way to register new voters, therefore, its good that the voting officals were vigilant, but when registering voters who knows whom they will actually vote for (R) Or (D) McCain or Obama.
The Financial Crisis is now called a Gobal event but it started in America and being the number 1(One) with anything carries a big responsibility, we lead by example and there is no time to return to the hateful ways of Americas past with Hate, Fear, Discrimination...etc. we are watched around trhe world by all countries big anf small, rich and poor, friend and foes we must stand united to be looked upon as "One Nation Under God with Liberty and "Justice " for all. God Bless America 8 is enough Give Change a try Vote

bonjor11 (French?) I appreciate your thoughtful ideas though I must say that I think you are misled. Experience is not what our country needs right now. We need a new start, a fresh voice who inspires us to want to make a better America than we've been. I'm not sure what planet some of these bloggers come from, but America as it is needs a major re-thinking. We'be been so screwed up by fear and the Bush/Cheney/Rove political machine that we can't see straight. Not supporting a war, for example, is not the same as disrespecting our troops. Troops do what their commander in chief instructs them to do. What if that commander is hell bent on a war that was, and still is, unnecessary? stop pointing out that "the serge" is working and that proves what? We shouldn't have been there to begin with. This is not a war! This is an occupation (just like Viet Nam became) and you cannot win an occupation. John McCain's experience should tell him that, but he seems to have forgotten (or he needs to even a score in another part of the world that had nothing to do with Vietnam). And I am sorry, our "prayers" are useless. We need leadership and a level, calm hand. I am not sure Obama is the great one, but he at least admits that we've been making mistakes here in America and is offering a change in direction for this beliegered country. Wake up. The world is changing.

  • Posted By: betterlife77 @ 10/11/2008 12:57:05 AM

obzerver - which is exactly why this country is in such a mess right now!!

  • Posted By: neos @ 10/11/2008 12:08:04 AM

Another reason for McCain's slide in the polls.
McCain gets a grade of D from the non-partisan veteran's group, Iraq and Afghan Veterans of America.
Disabled Veterans of America give him a 20% rating for his poor record on veteran issues.

    • Posted By: Chuzpah @ 10/11/2008 12:56:13 AM

But McCain loves the Veterans-it's what he said......I would hate to be his enemy. Or someone who got too close when he was going apopoleptic.........
