I worked for republicans in marion county,fl. Trust me to say they practice abuse of power all the time. Sara does not deserve to be V.P. because that is just inviting more corruption in our corrupted system. A nd that does not make me a bad Republican.

You must be talking about Todd Palin and his Alaskan Independence Party. Don't worry. Spouses are off-limits.

yeah ! now we know who is the real McCain...... LOL !! how can she know pick on Obama about character association & she has been "Palling Around" w/ McCain? what a phony ! she lacks ethics, something Obama has because he is an ethics lawyer ...... I almost don't care if Obama wins. With the economy in the toilet and those he thinks he's going to soak, those making over 250K, losing money big-time, he's not going to have any money to implement his socialist agenda. It'll take him all 4 years to get money for anything and by then he'll be nothing but a has-been. Let the countdown to 2012 begin.....

Well, at least you have come to accept the fate of your candidate. Even though your ignorant smears are incorrect, you have to admire that in a guy.

Obama: half an empty pink suit, half a flaming leftist who believes that America is bad and the rest of the world is good. He may, I say may, get elected because of the big egg Wall Street laid two weeks ago. Wall Street has been pregnant with this egg ever since it happily accepted toxic subprime products from Fannie and Freddie, Christofer Dodd's Barnie Frank's and Obama's darlings. Do yopu know who they are? Guess who de-regulated the banks? Clinton and Robert Rubin in 1999! albeit aided by a Rep. Congress but not before the Dem'smgot their wish: The Community Reinvestment Act who is responsible for pressuring banks to give loans to those who could not afford them....the rest is history....

Is that a gangsta rap? While reading the rambling nonsense, a strange affect occurred. I heard a phat beat underneath it. You suck at political commentary, but you could have a career in rap, or maybe stream of consciousness poetry.

The majority of the blame in terms of the current financial situation is that of Phil Graham and Alan Greenspan; not Barack Obama, not John McCain, not GWB, and not Bill Clinton. Please dont talk about economics when you clearly have no knowledge of the technicalities and innerworkings of our financial systems.

Which party controlled the Senate and the House for the last 2 years? The last 4 years? Ect.? Who really runs this country when it comes to the government? Wake up people! And what about those 149 or so ???Present??? votes cast by Obama. Not ???Yes??? not ???No??? but ???Present???. What was that all about? The general election is probably as important as voting on a bill, so what happens if we vote ???Present???. Just too hard! Can???t decide! But I am ???Present!

NEW POLL JUST OUT Most americans think that both cadidates suck and are voting their choice for the lesser of two evils. If you ran a business and interviewed 2 people to run it for you, would you pick the lesser of two evils or bring in more people to interview?

    • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 10/10/2008 8:47:33 PM

Where's your link to the so-called "poll"? People are excited about Obama more than any other candidate maybe since Kennedy. I'm voting for the right man at the right time, not the lesser of two evils.

What is amazing to me is that Paulson is seeking to have the U.S. government take over U.S. banks, an idea modeled after the British. If that isn't socialism, I don't know what is..... The problem as I see it is that many Americans are relatively uneducated about economics, what the Laffer curve really is or means, and the drag effect that deficit spending inevitably has on an economy. For a long time, the debt was owed by Americans TO Americans, which is no longer true. We owe it to the rest of the world now, with INTEREST. And the irony to me of all ironies, is that the Public Debt Clock broke down this week, since our deficit spending now totals over 10 trillion. I am shocked at the lack of discussion on that issue, given that there are two ways to get back to fiscal responsibility. Raise taxes, or cut spending, or a combination thereof. When I write a check, I better have money in the bank, or I go to jail. It's not really that complicated, but financing two wars with a tax cut for the rich and large corporations..... Well, I haven't seen that economic theory yet.......

a woman at a John McCain town hall rally who said that she couldn't trust Barack Obama because he is an Arab!
Did he correct her? No he let her keep believing in a lie, A campaign of lies, he may as well to have said it himself

    • Posted By: mrzoid @ 10/10/2008 8:18:22 PM

That is an absolute lie. I have decided to vote for Obama, but this is a partisan bullsh*t lie. McCain grabbed the mic away from her and said that he was a "honorable man, a citizen, and a good family man". He got booed for correcting some of the bigots and low-informed supporters, but he did, finally, do what was right in response to these slanderous rants.

      • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 10/10/2008 8:23:17 PM

Did he correct her assertion though? Did he say that Obama was NOT an arab?

        • Posted By: mrzoid @ 10/10/2008 8:44:18 PM

Yes, i've seen it replayed multiple times in the past 30 minutes. He did correct her, and i applaud him for finally taking these statements on at the time of occurance. The tragic thing is that the lady was honestly stating that as her belief; she was shocked by finding out that he wasn't.

  • Posted By: Greg285 @ 10/10/2008 8:21:26 PM

For all you die-hard McCain supporters who are in denial, here???s a News Flash for you???.You are going to lose???The policies of Ronald Reagan will go down in history as a complete failure and disaster...Your party and what it stands for, the Republican ???Brand??? is DEAD??? Republicans created this economic crisis the country finds itself in with their philosophy of ???De-Regulation???, which history will now judge as a FAILURE???.Republicans were driving the train and laid the foundation for this mess. Man up and accept the responsibility for what you have done to this Nation???.

    • Posted By: rail60 @ 10/10/2008 8:42:54 PM

Man up and accept responsibility is not part of the republican vocabulary. Though they have been driving the train for all but 8 years since 1981, they've all been stumbling over each other trying to find a liberal to blame for wrecking the train.

  • Posted By: tedhallett@paradisecommercial.org @ 10/10/2008 8:26:39 PM

Some of you are accusing McCain of lying about Obama. Instead of running your mouth just to hear yourselves talk or see to yourselves in print and making ambiguous claims, why don???t you just list these lies you claim have been laid upon Obama. And prove it.

In addition to sampling error, the practical difficulties of conducting surveys can also introduce error or bias to poll results.
the above should have been at the very top and center of the reporting of the Princeton Survey ... not at the end where it becomes a bolier-plate disclaimer !!! Larry Florida

Richard Nixon must be spinning in his grave; because this is not the way to run a successful attack campaign. How inept do you have to be to botch an attack campaign against a black man named Barack H. Obama? It's not Solely John mcCain's fault, its more the fault of his staff. For the love of god, he is an black man, under 50, with a foreign name! You cant figure this one out guys? Where the f*ck is Karl Rove? How did the GOP machine break down like this?

    • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 10/10/2008 8:20:33 PM

I think McCain was in a catch-22 situation. He knew it was a change election, but had to placate the far-right fundies that got GWB elected. So, he felt he had to do two incompatible things: embrace neocon ideology while still appealing to independents as a reformer. This dichotomy caused a schism in his psyche that has undermined the consistency of his message and hampered his ability to go full-negative; his only potential path to victory.

McCain reminds me of HAL in 2001. HAL was told to lie and because he was programmed not to lie, doing so made him short-circuit and go mad. The maverick McCain of 2000 hates the far-right suck-up McCain of 2008.

      • Posted By: mrzoid @ 10/10/2008 8:38:52 PM

Id tend to agree with the crux of your appraisal of the situation. I dont think McCain is at fault here though. He's the victim of the GOP's creation. The party is no longer about small government, economic conservativism, or defense; it has become a hodgepodge of wedge issue voters. Having Sarah Palin rile up the extremists was a poor move, but i lay that at the feet of the campaign strategists. The main problem is the concept of "energizing the base", because it doesnt include exciting the base to the GOP candidate anymore, it means giving them something to hate. It was fine when it was "big government", "liberal policy", or "middle eastern terrorists", but we've tread into a dangerous place, because now the hate is towards a minority politician on a national scale. McCain needs to get a hold on this, and people on both sides of the beltway are saying this in a very sincere and serious way. We are only 40 years removed from a very turbulent time in the civility of our country people, dont pretend that we are beyond falling backwards; and make no mistake, that is a very bad thing for everyone, and could be dangerous. Rpublican or Democrat, vote on policy, not on hate.

Um....everyone knows that polls are made on a smaller sample than the population. Duh. Maybe below average IQ right-wingers don't know this. Too bad.

If the poll had shown McCain with a 10 point lead, would you say the same thing? Gotcha!

  • Posted By: bshapi1 @ 10/10/2008 6:23:48 PM

Come on Republicans, you can't really believe John McCain is better for America than Barak Obama..... that is unless you can say that you are actually better off personally than you were 8 years ago. With the economy in the trash can, the war in Iraq costing you and me 10 BILLION dollars a month with no significant end in sight, I can't think of anyone who would still think the Republicans still are the answer. If you like the way thing s are right now, than you have your answer.. vote Republican because the next 4 years will be exactly like the last 8. I for one, have had enough... take me off, I'm through!!!!!

ever gone to school to understand the world? or just following leftist ideologies?

      • Posted By: WAYA12 @ 10/10/2008 8:38:18 PM

Well I have gone to school to understand the world and have not only lived but worked overseas, the rest of the world could not believe we ever reelected Bush and now they are in shock at the possibility of McCain/Palin in the White House. The US is being blamed for the current global financial crisis and rightly so, the greed that has been allowed by McCain voting to deregulate the financial markets in our country and the greed of their executives has caused this major catastrophy. McCain has said himself numerous times he wants to "fight" not work for change. Enough with the fighting, it has gotten us no where. And Palin who associates directly with real domestic terrorists ones who want to violently fight to secede Alaska from the rest of the US, and you have the audacity to say bshapi1 is a leftist ideolog, Wow What does that make you, a war monger? From personal exerperience it is obivious you need to go to school to understand the world or better yet, go visit a few other countries and see first hand the realities of the world.
