McCain cannot win this election based on character smearing, while ignoring issues that he quite obviously doesn't have good plans to deal with. He's going after Obama now by grasping at straws. Pathetic. Stick a fork in him. He's done.

Well, don't forget that Republicans will go to any length to win the election and yes even if that means violence, vote rigging and fraud. Be afraid....very very afraid!! And don't ever think their threats are empty!

There's a lot of good that can come in the next couple years. First.: A lot of countries have had severe economic downturns in the last twenty years. Almost all, with the notable exception of Japan which has no natural resources, have come roaring back. America will to. Get in at the bottom and enjoy the ride all the way up. Second; We are about to get the first black President in our history. That means that we can no longer be called racist. We have evolved past that and now we can get on with it looking forward to true equality. We can stop pandering to whiney minorities crying that they need special treatment and breaks and coddling. Whites ARE the minority now. Competition will be about ability. I like that. Third: We just scared the hell outta the political party's. We're about to make the Republicans go bye bye forever. That's gott scare the Democrats to death. They screw around? They go the way of the DoDo . America, the sleeping giant is awakening and woe be unto anyone that gets in her way. We may finally be growing up. I for one, would gladly pay this price to see that after a lifetime of scepticism and dissappointment.

Jusy bc the leader of the country may be a minority does not mean that America would be non-racist.

Marcusassius it's a great start. Like the concept. I too am looking forward to this election not turning into anything more than a referendum on the health and general state of the United States of racist America. I also like the concept of rational thinking human beings taking back our country. Issues and direction are clear, to any Rational thinking person!

USAFuture, right on! Why doesn't McCain himself immediately stop these outrageous comments by his supporters? He doesn't even try to calm these bigots down, or even attempt to carry on a civil and trutful campaign. His hero (and mine) Teddy Roosevelt must be spinning in his grave.

I will always respect John McCain for his military service and his awful time as a POW. That said, ..... how can he now - after 26 years in government - rant about "those hooligans in Washington?" And how can he feel our pain seeing as how he's married to the "One Hundred Million Dollar Woman?" Finally, your political (read, cynical) choice of Sarah "Mad Dog" Palin confirms that you've lost your mind. Poor man ... too many crashes early on in your career I guess.

    • Posted By: AYW2008 @ 10/10/2008 6:48:02 PM

I agree. As an independant I was torn between the tickets. McCain made my decision for me when he selected Palin as his VP pick. I would not vote for that winking fool if she was running for Miss Lipstick.

A perfect storm for Republican party - awful war, awful economy that's clearly tied to their awful policies, awful environment, and a very charismatic Democrat who people like without really knowing what he'll be like. Good luck Barack; I wouldn't want to be in your shoes!!!

    McCain is confused.
Yesterday he addressed to his crowd with my fellow prisoners.
Watch for some major gaff during the next debate and more ridiculos claims against Obama.

John McCain and Sarah Palin should be charged with inciting a riot. Democrats are totally sick and tired of being accused of being unpatriot. As McCain and Palin constantly state: Country First to Republicans, Country Second for Democrats. This is discusting. This is what Hitler did to get the Germans to follow him. John McCain- you should be ashamed! Very Ashamed!

    • Posted By: Puuda @ 10/10/2008 6:41:10 PM

Exactly! I try to stay away from being an official member of parties, but it just plain sickens me to see all the Republican stickers/banners/signs that have "Country First", "Support our Troops", and ecetera. It should NOT have to be said that someone loves their own country or support their armed forces, but implied! It's just a pathetic way to grab votes.

  • Posted By: highway51 @ 10/10/2008 6:41:08 PM

Attention Life-long loya Republicans: It's OK if a Democrat wins. It's OK. You'll be able to face yourselves in the mirror. It'll be OK. Also, do you have kids? Vote for Obama (you don't have to tell anyone). Vote as if your vote decides the election and a crisis erupts and the fate of your kids, and the world, is in the hands of Palin.

  • Posted By: Alaskan2 @ 10/10/2008 6:40:17 PM

All Alaskans DO NOT SUPPORT PALIN. She is a LIAR, a Joke to represent Alaska!! Troopergate will show how she hides the truth from the public. Open and transparent...lol..what a joke. She is just like Mccain, a LOSER!!

  • Posted By: Bob the Builder @ 10/10/2008 6:33:36 PM

Mccain will lose, unless he pays off DIEBOLD to rig the machines.. i truely hate John Mccain and his junkie wife Cindy

Newsweek along with MSNBC and CNN are not to be TRUSTED.

mjno: Who is your media source? Fox?

Maybe she trusts conservative commentator and former Republican congressman Joe Scarborough. Oops, last night on the Cobert report he conceded that it's already too late for McCain to turn things around. And in a moment of candor, he further conceded that the Republicans, McCain, included, deserve to be shown the door after the disasterous eight years.

  • Posted By: Bob the Builder @ 10/10/2008 6:32:16 PM

Mccain needs to pack it up and go back to AZ, only way hes gonna win is if the Repubs pay DIEBOLD to rig the voting machines like they did before

to sharkey2008-perhaps you are the racist ! most things are as people perceive them ... I never once mention race creed or color. I believe that his belief system is a little different than what he is telling us based on his ties and the people he has chosen to spend his time with in the last 20 or so years.it has nothing to do with race ! I believe he like osama are both very bad for the well being of this country !

  • Posted By: simmyco @ 10/10/2008 6:29:28 PM

Go Obama Go! This is what happens when you stay true to your convictions, and run a race with class, and dignity. He is such a savvy candidate. He whol demeanor is that of a president. What an exciting time to be living in!

Obama is talking about addressing our problems. McCain is absorbed with the non-issue of Obama's relationship with Bill Ayers, who was a radical about 40 years ago. There's no fire and in fact not really any smoke there; Obama merely served on two non-profit boards on which Ayers also happened to serve, and years ago attended one fundraiser hosted by Ayers. McCain lives in a glass house when it comes to associations--he had real relationships with the notorious anti-Catholic Rev. Hagee (take note, Catholic voters) and with the fraudulent financier William Keating. His running mate has strong ties to far right, secessionists in Alaska (there is footage of her addressing their meetings available on the internet). Bottom line, though--the American public is looking for the truly "steady hand on the tiller," to borrow McCain's line at the last debate. That steady hand is Obama.

The Republican "Base" would like nothing better than to turn this wonderful country of ours into an Iran-like conservative theocracy, and ya know what? we mainstream Americans are NOT gona let it happen!
Vote REAL (not fake) Change - VOTE OBAMA!!!

  • Posted By: grapefire8 @ 10/10/2008 6:20:57 PM

I am not surprised. The american people want to hear solutions to the problems, not the rantings and mud slinging that McCain is doing. I felt in the begiining it was going to backfire on him.. Good,, keep it clean like Obama has managed to do. Come Nov4, he wont have to say sorry to anyone unlike mccain and especially palin..

  • Posted By: glimps @ 10/10/2008 6:20:43 PM

These nut jobs that are showing up to McCains rallies are the lower class of the repblican party... it's just like the news journalist out on a case giving the mic to a fool that cant articulate well while trying to discuss what happen.. the ignorant runs rampant & McCain is feeding into the frenzy.......... i thought McCain said during the Dem. primary that he didnt want to win just because he is "white"? what happen McCain? i guess looking at the polls his little beety eyes widend fast........... what a CREEP !! i'm so tired of listening to McCain creepy, whispering voice ( he sounds like a child Molester luring a child to come his way with a lolly-pop) "My Friends" that sounds even creeper... i just dont want "That One" to be my president... creepy old DUDE !!!!!!!
