    Although McCain told voters at a campaign rally that improving veterans' health care was his top domestic priority, he voted against increasing funding for veterans' health care in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. (Greenville News, 12/12/2007; S.Amdt. 2745 to S.C.R. 95, Vote 40, 3/10/04; Senate S.C.R. 18, Vote 55, 3/16/05; S.Amdt. 3007 to S.C.R. 83, Vote 41, 3/14/06; H.R. 1591, Vote 126, 3/29/07)

The "certificate of citizenship and oath of allegiance" are something that former dual citzens and naturalized citizens (like myself) have (certificate) or have given (i.e., oath, which was required to get the naturalization certificate). The validity of the Hawaiian birth certificate may be a moot point if Obama did in fact have to become a citzen of Indonesia when he attended school there as a child - i.e., he would have lost his US citizenship and then on return could only have become a naturalized citizen (according to Berg). Whether this is true or not I have no idea, but the DNC and Obama trying to dismiss the case without even providing documents they DO have comes across as rather bizarre.

    • Posted By: marksgershenson @ 10/12/2008 9:25:31 AM

He was born in Hawaii, therefore he is a US citizen. The rest is not relevant to his US citizenship.

      • Posted By: oldnews @ 10/12/2008 9:41:54 AM

Perhaps. . . but perhaps not. i.e.,THEY SAY If he had to give up his US citizenship in Indonesia (which allegedly didn't allow dual citizenships at the time) he would not be a US citizen unless he later went through the naturalization process on return. And if he didn't do the latter, technically he would be an illegal alien here no matter where he was born. . .

        • Posted By: LCDR_USN1 @ 10/12/2008 4:37:25 PM

First, Obama did not "lose" his US citizenship when he briefly lived in Indonesia. Immigration and citizenship laws clearly state that a minor retains his/her US citizenship even if they reside overseas as long as they return to the US and retain permanent residence before age 25. Obama returned to Hawaii before high school. Second, in order for Obama to officially "lose" his US citizenship, he would have had to appear in person at a US consulate and sign an oath of renunciation with the US State department, who have no record of this anywhere. And lastly, by all this accounts, his COLB is proof enough for both the US State department and the election committees of his natural born citizen and thus the other items on Berg's claim is irrelevant (plus a "vault" copy of a birth certificate is NEVER released by the DOH of Hawaii).

It was a huge issue for medias about Sen. Obamas religious affiliation with Rev. Jeremiah Wright. I am wondering , why it is not an issue for media, that Gov. Palin as a leader of "Alaska Independance Freedom Party", welcoming members in to the Party convention of 2008. This is is the party demanding freedom From United States. The Alaska Independence Party has pushed for Alaska to secede from the United States. Advocating secession could be considered treasonous. The party proudly displays this quote from founder Joe Vogler on its Web site: "I'm an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her damned institutions."

Speaking quietly, and hoping you can think and look at the record of facts. Obama is an unkwown, and even his zealots have to admit that the only constant is the mantra of change. The problem is that no one knows what type of change Obama is actually talking about. He has been campaigning for all his time in the Senate and nothing to show for it but rhetoric and to hide whether it's behind racism or charges only known to Obama. What America needs to know is, a full disclosure on serveral key facts. On Berg vs Obama - have Obama show his birth certificate and instead of trying to dismiss this filing along with the DNC with all of Obama's lawyer bullies, either he has no judgement or there is an issue with hs citizenship. On his time at Columbia- set the record straight, if someone has something to hide usually there is some wrong being done. On Friends- America needs to know, has to know the relationship with the cast of characters Obama has that simply no American family could understand, Rezko- fraud, Ayers- terrorism, Wright - Radicalism, Khalidid- Palestinian Advocate. This is quite a handful of rotten apples in Obama's basket of bad friends. NO ONE SHOULD BELEIVE OBAMA, when he states these are not the friends he knew before. To suspend disbelief based on partisanship is not American. Obama needs to step down. This is the only way his drowling zealots will take an second look at him.

You will be told over and over by the left that his extremely poor judgment in associating with Ayers and the others doesn't matter, that it's only about the economy. I don't agree. I think his judgment and character flaws are paramount issues for a man that wants to become president of the United States.

I will say again that if McCain even had a passing association with a abortion clinic bomber, it would then "matter." The democrats and Obama's Team Mainsteam Media would be all over it like white on rice.

The Palin investigation was about whether she abused her powers in firing Monegan. THE REPORT FOUND:

"I find that, although Walt Monegan's refusal to fire Trooper Michael Wooten was not the sole reason he was fired by Governor Sarah Palin, it was likely a contributing factor to his termination as Commissioner of Public Safety. IN SPITE OF THAT, GOVERNOR PALIN'S FIRING OF COMMISSIONER MONEGAN WAS A PROPER AND LAWFUL EXERCISE OF HER CONSTITUTIONAL AND STATUTORY AUTHORITY TO HIRE AND FIRE EXECUTIVE BRANCH DEPARTMENT HEADS." (Report at 8, emphasis added).

Once that finding was made, the remaining findings, placed out of order for clearly political reasons, are nothing more than a fishing expedition , or rather, investigator Sen. Hollis French's promised "October Surprise." ,

And now for the complete truth (from a posting by nins)

On October 10, the Alaska Legislative Council found Sarah Palin guilty of abusing power. Immediately Ms. Palin said "if you read the report you'll see that there was nothing unlawful or unethical about replacing a cabinet member." This quote by Palin is only 50% true. The Legislative Council report says it was LEGAL for her to fire Commissioner Monegan, since as Governor she has the right to hire and fire her staff at will. The report also says that her firing of Commissioner Monegan was an UNETHICAL abuse of power.

Palin tells you half of the truth, and lies outright about the other half. You know the old saying: If you tell a lie, make sure it contains some truth so it will be believable.

To continue where that one left off, Democrat investigator Sen. Hollis French gave a September 2 interview in which he warned the inquiry could yield an "October Surprise" for the GOP. Any judge in the country would be recused for making such a remark. Hell, the left demands the recusal of justices simply because they went fishing, never mind predicting the outcome before the evidence. Yet French did not recuse himself, and both French and the person responsible for oversight, Democratic Sen. Kim Elton, are both in the famous "Obama Headquarters" photo"

        http://www.foxnews.com/video-search/m/20903021/troopergate.htm?pageid=23043&seek=105.499

Rep. John Coghill, a Republican who criticized the handling of the investigation, said it was "well-done professionally." But he said some of the conclusions were judgment calls by Branchflower, and recommended readers should view them with a "jaundiced eye." Somehow, this second part gets dropped out of the main stream coverage. I wonder why?

  • Posted By: REALITY CHECK @ 10/12/2008 10:41:14 AM

Obama may well win, but most people don't know what they're getting. For example, he has voted against extending the Bush tax cuts, which expire at the end of 2010. This means -For families with taxable income of:
    $17,000 - increased taxes of $400
    $29,000 - increased taxes of $1,100
    $72,000 - increased taxes of $2,300
    $251,000 - increased taxes of $6,900
When he says that people making under $250,000 won't see a tax increase, he means no increase above the scheduled increase after 2010. And if you have anything that sells at a profit (capital gains), there will be more taxes on that as well. McCain voted to make these tax cuts permanent, but the Democrats in Congress voted against it. Watch your wallets when Obama gets in and he has control of Congress.

    Rasmussen Consumer Index
Investor Confidence Hits New Record Low on Sunday
Sunday, October 12, 2008 Email to a FriendAdvertisement
Investor confidence hit a new all time low for the sixth straight day on Sunday, while consumer confidence stabilized.

The Rasmussen Investor Index fell another two points to 66.4. That's down ten points from a week ago, down thirty-five points from a month ago, and down sixty-five points from a year ago.

The Rasmussen Consumer index stabilized at 63.3 on Sunday. That's down eight points from a week ago, down twenty-three points from a month ago, and down forty-four points from a year ago.

The numbers are bleak all across the board as 66% now believe the U.S. economy is in a recession, up eight points from a month ago. Just 8% rate the economy as good or excellent, up a point from yesterday, while 67% say it???s in poor shape. Just six percent (7%) say economic conditions are getting better while 77% say they are getting worse.

As for personal finances, 35% say their finances are good or excellent while 25% say poor. Fifteen percent (15%) say their own finances are getting better while 58% say the opposite.

When are normally intelligent, responsible adults going to stop being stirred up and made to say stupid and irrational things by people who do not have their best interests at heart? How can media be 'liberal' and 'socialist' when it is owned by private corporations who have at their own best interest profit and privatization? It doesn't make sense! We have some of the most conservative media ever to exist but to listen to some people we're two steps away from state run journalism. The mere fact that any debate even exists is simple tribute to the amount of patriotic Americans who refuse to let their voices be stifled by corporate greed or be distracted by fear mongering politicians. Always ask yourself when anyone tells you anything: what does this person or institution stand to gain by my agreement or to lose by my disagreement? Follow the dollars, follow the dollars!

    • Posted By: b dune @ 10/10/2008 5:59:39 PM

ConservativeChick - all polls follow the same basic principles..it was explained by Rasmussen (pollster for FOX - so certainly fair and balanced) that when polls are taken there are 38% dems - 31% repubs (that is because that is how the parties are registered) and the rest independents and the likes. That was him, Gallup, Zogby, etc.

Now you may not like the results and I might add Rasmussen had it 52% to 44% just two days ago - but it is what it is - having said that - exactly one month ago it was 46% to 46 % so it can certainly change in the next few weeks.

Don't shoot the messengers - do as you did - get more support for you candidate! That goes for all sides - we all must vote!

    • Posted By: Iconoblaster @ 10/10/2008 5:44:53 PM

Believe what you want to believe. Ignore the evidence. Anyone who disagrees with you must be biased (including the corporate media: they are too "liberal"). And after November 4th, you can always say the election was rigged....its all a dang leftist conspiracy, right?

A month ago, 78% of Americans said current economic conditions were "getting worse," rather than better. By the time of the Treasury's proposal, 87% of Americans felt this way. Even with the president's signing of the Treasury's requested new emergency legislation, a record 90% of Americans now say the economy is "getting worse."

    • Posted By: Mimi13 @ 10/11/2008 2:06:02 PM

Did you know that McCain started his 1998 run for the presidency at a fundraiser in the living room of G. Gordon Liddy, convicted domestic terrorist who had plans to KILL columnist Jack Anderson, kidnap protesters at the Republican National Convention and BOMB the Brookings Institution? Liddy also contributed thousands of dollars to McCain's campaigns (compared to the $200 Ayres contributed to Obama), Liddy and McCain have an ongoing cordial relationship and as late as November 2007 McCain was doing guest spots on Liddy's radio program.

In contrast, Ayres has never been convicted of anything. He was named Chicago's Man of the Year recently,. And he and Obama have a relationship that is based on a mutual professional interest in two charity foundations in which the bulk of the directors were far more conservative. The Annanberg School Project, for example, was supported by the Annanberg Foundation which was founded by Reagan friend and ambassabor to Great Britian, Walter Annanberg. They are not personal friends. They do not "pal" around together. And numerous investigations have supported this fact.

Now, if associations with people who have violent and unsavory pasts really is an issue with you, to be intellectually honest, you will have to disavow the McCain candidacy as well as Obama's, Otherwise you are a nothing more than a hypocrite.
