Neither McCain or Palin is inciting racism or hatred among the GOP. There are extremists in most any gathering and who's to say that some of these people may not even be Obama supporters knowing how such angry comments will be viewed by the majority of voters and hurt the Republican party. We should stop looking at the crowd and look at the candidates and their records of who their associates are and have been.
Obama may be likable, but he has a record of voting to kill babies, friends who are anarchists, and spiritual leaders who hate America, and that means you and me.

Again, you are naive because McCain & Palin are doing exactly that....inciting people to violence by painting Senator Obama as a terrorist...which he is not and trying to make him seem dangerous, which he is not and McCain & Palin are doing that because they are desperate and need to change the narrative of the economy!Sad....

    • Posted By: roooth @ 10/11/2008 10:21:39 AM

Tarona - do you really not realize that every qualifictaion you listed; voting to kill babies, anarchist friends, America-hating spiritual leaders, applies to McCain? And with McCain, you get the added bonus that, for the first time in American history, a candidate has selected a running mate who is not only currently under investigation and found guilty of abuse of power, she also is the only candidate in modern history who has sought and received the support of a violence advocating secessionist group whose meetings she attended for years and whose spouse was a member of this violent group of domestic terrorists.

What are you thinking? Oh, that's right, you're a McCain supporter, you don't think. Get the mote out of your eye and quit believeing every lie you are told by the McCain camp.

The McPalin duo is crumbling before our eyes. Inciting BAD behavior is unconscienable and sinister. But what would you expect from the destructive duo? Only idiots believe everything they read. Obama is not an Arab. But McPalin is out of touch with the world today. North to Alaska, I say.

JohnDough: Please tell me what laws passed by the democratic congress , in power since Jan 1, 2007 and signed by Bush, resulted in 5 items you listed. Please note the democratic congress could not reverse the Bush tax cuts let alone raise takes over republican senators power to block and Bush Veto. Same with stopping Iraq war and expense. Please note it was the Bush budgets -2001-8, plus tax cuts which created huge deficits. Please note Bush, friend of big oil, did nothing to get us off oil addiction and consequent greenhouse gases for 8 years resulting in huge profits for his big oil pals. Please no republicans, including McCain, were the party backing Wall Street regulation and the heads of Wall Street investment firms were all republican backers, including Hank Paulsen. (Check his Goldman Sachs bonuses). Bush the only president to cut taxes in war time and not to ask for sacrifice, instead saying, "go shopping". Please note the 1st rise in middle class income in 20 years under Clinton, stopped cold under Bush. Please not hoe the very rich got very much richer under Bush, hedge funds derivities etc.

This was not posted as a GOP ?dem issue just facts that while we all complsin about what everything costs look what illegals are costing us all. The dedms and some republicans want amnesty this is ridiculous illegal aliens cost us overten percent of the fedral budget. Just so yu remember the dems have had half of congress since 2004 but this problem started long ago but is is time to send them home and begin a new policy where we control our borders and to who comes in and for how long.

    PART 3:
You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much?

    Read this:
Boy am I confused. I have been hammered with the propaganda that it is the Iraq war and the war on terror that is bankrupting us.
I hope the following 14 reasons are forwarded over and over again until they are read so many times that the reader gets sick of reading them. I have included the URL's for verification of all the following facts.

    1. $11 Billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare to illegal aliens each year by state governments.
    2. $2.2 Billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches for illegal aliens.
3 $2.5Billion dollars a year is spent on Medicaid for illegal aliens.
    4. $12 Billion dollars a year is spent on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally and they cannot speak a word of English!
5 $17 Billion dollars a year is spent for education for the American-born children of illegal aliens, known as anchor babies.
    6. $3 Million Dollars a DAY is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens.
    7. 30% percent of all Federal Prison inmates are illegal aliens.
8 $90 Billion Dollars a year is spent on illegal aliens for Welfare & social services by the American taxpayers.
    9. $200 Billion Dollars a year in suppressed American wages are caused by the illegal aliens.
    10. The illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that's two and a half times that of white non-illegal aliens. In particular, their children, are going to make a huge additional crime problem in the US
    11. During the year of 2005 there were 4 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that crossed our Southern Border also, as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from Terrorist Countries. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth, heroin and marijuana, crossed into the U. S from the Southern border.
    12. The National Policy Institute, 'estimated that the total cost of mass deportation would be between $206 and $230 billion or an average cost of between $41 and $46 billion annually over a five year period.'
    13. In 2006 illegal aliens sent home $45 BILLION in remittances back to their countries of origin.
    14. 'The Dark Side of Illegal Immigration: Nearly One Million Sex Crimes Committed by Illegal Immigrants In The United States.'
The total cost is a whopping $338.3 BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR.

    Are we THAT stupid?

I hope you forward this to every legal resident in the country including every representative in
Washington, D.C. - five times a week for as long as it takes to restore some semblance of intelligence in our policies and enforcement thereof.

    • Posted By: neos @ 10/11/2008 7:46:11 PM

Yes, the war in iraq is costing us too much. As is the 300 billion or so that we pay to the Saudis and Chinese, etc. every year to service the 10 trillion dollars of debt that republican 'borrow and spend' policies has hung around our necks.

  • Posted By: harnold3 @ 10/10/2008 10:08:03 PM

My Fellow Americans....It's not Black or White....it's green and the voters know it. We cannot vote for Senator McCain who has changed...Unfortunately for the worse---His "Poor Judgement" with Charles Keating, his judgement when he left the campaign trail and did nothing.....when he arrived back in Washington, his party voted in the minority for the Wall Street Package, then blamed Senator Obama for not passing the bill; his allowing a negative campaign with negative ads and allowing ethnic/racial slurs at his rallys; his pick of Sarah Palin without vetting her properly, now she has made history as a candidate who "Abused power"; and most of all his 90-95% support of the Bush Administration policies and then he tried to disassociate his own record..........

    • Posted By: Forty4 @ 10/11/2008 12:08:41 AM

McCain was cleared along with John Glenn of Keating 20 years ago. Obama had a friendship with Ayers recently.... until he became a liability to him. I'm sure that you too hang out with friends that you detest!

      No wonder Hamas endorses Obama.

Golly gee, all you repugnants need to get your facts straight. Barack Obama will be the next President , so just sit back and see our wonderful country return to prosperity, as well as our international stature repaired to the dominant world power we were. It really seems to me that those who yell the loudest are folks just hiding their rascism: knee-jerk response, so-called Christians/evangelicals, who seem to forget that our God considers us all as ONE race-- the HUMAN race. This man will be a wonderful leader. If you think he will fail, just remember the LAST EIGHT YEARS. Bush is a tough act to follow, but only because his clueless, crony-led administration managed to rape the economy. put us smack-dab into Iraq---all based on false informatiion that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Anyone with half a brain surely knows that Cheney and the other FatCat neocons have lined their pockets with billions of dollars pressing for more an more time and more and more money for Iraq, but really to go to Halliburton and Blackwater. And one more thing---John McCain is no war hero---as a "fighter pilot" in Vietnam he was mostly ordered to kill large numbers of children, women, and defenseless men---ordinary folks who had nothing to do with the war. WAKE UP PEOPLE, or eat your words one day soon.

The Tax Relief Act of 1997 (which is what all the neo-cons love to point to as the problem's start) was sponsored by Rep John Kasich (R-OH) and that replaced a similar senate Bill sponsored by Senator Roth (R-DE). Although the Bill was Republican sponsored, it passed the Senate 92 - 8 and the House 389 - 43 and was signed into law by President Clinton. Obviously the Act had widespread bipartisan support and was veto proof.

      • Posted By: Forty4 @ 10/10/2008 11:25:12 PM

This isn't the issue. It's the fact that begining in 2003, Bush and McCain tried to do something about the coming disaster and Dodd and Frank stopped it.

If Obama wins the real danger will be with his court appointments. My guess is he will nominate the usual democratic judge types: Pro Abortion, anti-capital punishment, pro pornography, pro homosexuality, pro criminal, anti-police, anti God and bench legislators, If the dems get 60 seats in the Senate America will become Amerika comrades. Obama.s associations clearly show his true character as a person. He spent 20 years in a church with a bigoted anti American pastor spewing hate, Louis Farraken an anti-sematic Al Queda Muslim supporting minister who hates America, a known terrorist in William Ayers, a known criminal in Rezko and a member and attorney for the largest voter fraud organizaton in America called ACORN. He of course has now distanced himself from all of them at least for the time being. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck it is a duck.,

    • Posted By: neos @ 10/10/2008 10:45:32 PM

The Democratic platform will stop the disasterous economic and education policies of the last 8 years that have brought an increase in abortions during the Bush years. Fighting poverty, making health care available to all, and age appropriate sex education will accomplish more than self-righteous calls for re-criminalization ever will.
A hate-mongering idiot like you is not worthy of American citizenship.

      • Posted By: Vypurr @ 10/10/2008 10:54:30 PM

You're a socialist neos. Obama has done nothing for Illinois. All one needs to do look at Chicago to see that. But of course, he's going to fix all of America! His slick rhetoric is just that. Health care for all? In New York, the medicare fraud alone is astronomical. Can you imaging what the fraud will be if all of health care is nationalized? Washington couldn't print enough money to keep up with it. And every time you get cornered with Ayers, Rezko and Wright it's always the same thing.... No answers.... just the usual "You're a hate monger."

        • Posted By: neos @ 10/10/2008 11:13:51 PM

OK, Forty4,( IQ?) Attend and learn. Marxism was a logical and compassionate response to 19th century laisse faire capitalism which saw 10-12 hour work days, 6 days a week, child labour, horrendous and hazardous working conditions and a general disregard of the human needs of the labor work force, These two idealogies butted heads and some results were the failure of a brutal Communism in the Soviet Union and the eclipse of unregulated Capitalism in the united States and Europe. In its stead a new syncretism arose which maintained the dynamic drive of capitalism tempered by governmental regulations designed to insure a degree of fairness for the common man. Medicare, Social Security, Minumum Wage, Occupational and Safety Health Standards regulations all attest to a socialist parentage. Anyways, the point is that you should realize that the great war between Communism and Capitalism has reached a truce resulting in the synthesis which is modern American socio-economic reality. Join the future.

The brilliant doctor I work for uses "anyways" all the time. I don't know why, it must be some sort of regional thing as he's from back East. But that doesn't make him stupid. He's a professor of pediatric cardiology, btw, and also has a private practice. Anyway, you really should not be afraid of "socialism," which the right has made into a sort of buzz word filling peole full of fear. I'm no socialist per se, but I realize that some things we have need to be socialized, like the police, the fire department, the postal service, the public schools, roads and bridges, and yes, health care, if we are ever so lucky. The rest of the civilized world has it for everyone for free, paid for through taxes, and it seems to work just fine for them. Nothing is perfect, of course, and different countries have their own little problems, but nothing like ours with so many either uninsured or under-insured, and the insurance companies doing their best not to pay any claims they can get away with. It's a mess. Just ask the doctor I work for. We could have half the staff if the government had the program and the insurance companies were out of the picture. It would save SO much money! And any increase in taxes would be more than offset by the money we wouldn't have to spend on insurance premiums.

Heaven forbid that we try to hold teachers accountable for educating our children. No Child Left Behind may not be perfect but at least it ended the democratic staus quo scores go down throw more money at it. Ou fundemaental problem in America is the breakdown of our moral lvalues and families. No amount of govt. money thrown at these problems is going to change that. We need a moral compass there are rights and wrongs and without proper guidance instaed of situational ethics and mores we will continue to spiral downward as a nation.

        • Posted By: Nonpartay @ 10/11/2008 2:37:29 AM

Excuse me, but No Child Left Behind is a dreadful law. Ask any teacher. You know, the people with the degrees in education that actually know something about teaching. Having education dictated by politicians is always counterproductive. And our education system needs LOTS of money thrown at it, the more the better. It's trying to do it on the cheap that has made it so substandard. It's like with anything else, you get what you pay for.

Wow you're an idiot on so many levels. Lets start at the top. Obama's Judges will be judges trying to balance the crippling of personal rights and civil liberties. How about we get a court that's not scared to stand up to a president so that they can't hide behind the use of privilege to commit criminal acts like Bush has with Guantanamo and the secret prisions in foreign countries. And how about we make a woman's right to choose or a person's GOD GIVEN right to be homosexual protected as they should be. How about we make it so that more people who didn't commit crimes are put on death row because Texas decided that a jury of their peers was a bunch of racist rednecks who claim to be Christian. Hey last time I checked God has nothing to do with the laws of the US so drop the BS and Suck it up b/c we've had 8 years of the shitiest president in history. Time for someone who is competant and didn't use his name to get ahead but fought ahead inspite of it.

      • Posted By: John Dough @ 10/10/2008 11:15:19 PM

These are the usual hateful rhetoric I would expect from the left. I did not say we should mistreat homosexuals or anyone else for that matter it is just not a civil rights protected class. Democratic judges legislate from the bench that is congresses job not theryejob. They are to interrept laws based on the constitution. As for the constitution it is written based on judeo christian values and codes. The three tier government system we have Executive, legislative and judiciall comes right out of the old testament. As far as bible thumping, it would be really horrible if people really loved their neighbors, told the truth, didn;t lie cheat and steal. didn't cheat on their spouses, took care of their children instead expecting the government to do it, honored their parents, respected each others property didn't murder, rob, rape and blame others for their mistakes. OMG that would be an awful world!!! ,

Oh, I get it. You don't want a balanced court. Just one weighted to the right,.where the right can legislate from the bench; just like they did after the last election. Now that was fair and balanced. Well, probably to you it was.

        • Posted By: Nonpartay @ 10/11/2008 2:33:59 AM

Ya know, for all your claim to have the Bible all wrapped up for yourself, your hatred of people who disagree with your point of view seems to not have been much affected by your exposure to that Book. Didn't Jesus say to render to Ceasar what was Ceasar's and unto God what was God's? Perhaps mixing religion and poltics isn't such a great idea after all. It doesn't seem to make those who do very loving...

All moral judgement aside on Roe vs, Wade, do the math on what it would cost. Based on 1 million live births x $5000=$5 billion in claims to Insurance or Medicaid. (want to guess how it would affect your insurance premiums?)There go your rates and your taxes. Some will be on welfare, but if the majority are put up for adoption, are they going to live with McCain and Palin? No probably not. Need orphanages, adoptions-who would handle that? This is the reality of no abortion. McCain wants to tax the insurance allotment of $5000-if McCain/Palin reverse Roe vs. Wade, the $5000 isn't going to cover it-we would be worse off than before. Everyone changing insurance at once-chaos that would transcend chaos. (Yes, I am a insurance person.) It would be a nightmare. Let's hope McCain/Palin were using it for a divisive wedge issue to get the votes. Wall Street is more than enough.

Dubya and Cheney have already given us Soviet style communism. Like the Soviet Union, we torture people, wire tap their phones, and hold people in prisons without giving them access to a fair trial. After 8 years of the retard and satan, Obama scares you?

I feel the race is over. Bo and MO will have the moving vans show up on Pennsylvania Avenue in January 2009. McCain is NOT feisty enough. When his loyal vans expressed negative views to him about BO, he should never of praised BO stating he will make a good president. What was he thinking, for pete's sake. he should of smiled and said nothing. This did it!~! Republicnas are voting for McCain becasue they think HE will make a good president. NOT BO! McCain is tired and it is evident. November 5th he can go back to his ranch and put his feet up and sip on a hot drink. Kinda like Santa Claus after all the toys are delivered.
I had hopes..But not after those statements! Oh Hum....Maybe 2012 will be better. I hope so!

Check history , who was the sitting president every time this country has entered a recession? Then tell me which person should be elected!

What I do know is People lost their retirement under Nixon, again under Reagan, and now under Bush. the rule of thumb seems to be; elect a Republican kiss your retirement good by.

Same dumba-- right-wing bigots. Why they can't realize that their hateful and dirty redneck way of doing things are over. Dosen't feel good bringing up the rear does it?

They don't realize that being called a redneck is not a compliment. Even Foxworthy is supporting Obama.

I have been following the US elections farce over the last many months, and it seems to me that for McCain this would be a good election to loose. All his recent actions and even his selection of Sarah Palin, seem to suggest that he actually does not want the presidency. The financial meltdown, the imminent and obvious Us recession right around the corner and an unclear road ahead is going to push the next president towards taking high risk decisions over which he may little control of given the depth of the crisis. For a person who is in his seventies, has had an impeccable career, and is highly respected, the right thing to do would be to save as much of it as possible before retirement. On the other hand, Obama is a young, african american, who is perhaps aware of the challenges that lie ahead but is perhaps the willing sacrificial goat. Lets face it: a world financial tsunami is not one which one US president can handle and restore to normalcy by himself and it does need a world wide steady and coordinated effort. Young, inexperienced and racially disadvantaged Obama will not loose too much if he were to fail in his presidency, as many would say "i told you so" and leave it at that. One the other hand if he does pull off a spectacular recovery, he would go down in the annals as a great president. I tend to go with the former as that seems to be the most likely outcome, and hillary might actually benefit from all this chaos.

I think it is really sad the direction the McCain camp is going. I was watching a Martin Luther King Jr. documentary af few months ago. When Martin Luther King Jr. was advocating peaceful movements there were people who were linking him to radicals. Finally one crazy person took him out. This was a great person that changed our Nation. I see Obama as a man who wants to make that same change. However you still have ignorant evil vile people out there. I want a president who feels OUR pain, a guy that has 7 houses and a wife worth 100 million dollars doesn't feel our pain. McCain needs to continue to calm his crowds down because this is totally out of hand.

He doesn't have crowds, As I've said before "HE HAS MOBS"! They are an inch away from being called a lynch mob. Pretty sad.

Obama's superior management skills bode well for the future of our economy.
Most of the rest of the world hopes we will elect him too. The whole world can't be wrong! And they're NOT all our enemies just coz they're foreigners. Sheesh... We used to have LOTS OF FANS around the world for the USA, but Bush sorta killed all that.

    • Posted By: knconrad @ 10/10/2008 11:41:11 PM

Yhe rest of the world??? Yeah, that's what we want to be like. If you think the ret of the world is so great, why don't you move?

That is so silly and trite. How about staying here and fixing it. Just because it's cracked doesn't mean you discard it. A real patriot wouldn't say such a thing. I don't think our founding fathers would agree with you.

Wouldn't it be prudent to request or wait for more information on the first time senator? This is America, we don't just want any Tom, Dick or Hussein in the White House, right?

    • Posted By: kjstjohn @ 10/10/2008 11:28:02 PM

Like a lot of other voters, I have heard enough. McCain has the advantage of experience. Obama has a superb mind and a first-class temperament but less experience than McCain. Governor Palin is not qualified to be President, period. That means Obama gets my vote.

      • Posted By: cobalt6 @ 10/11/2008 12:07:13 AM

Palin is not running for president!

Sure, but she's a hearbeat away from it. There are sooo many other, more qualified women he could have chosen. She's probably costing him votes. JUDGEMENT!

        • Posted By: benkrapf @ 10/11/2008 9:09:14 AM

McCain is a POTUS health risk. If elected, the likelihood of Palin rising into his position would be a significant one.

I know, pesky liberals and their FACTS and LOGIC. Sheesh...

        • Posted By: Nonpartay @ 10/11/2008 2:05:48 AM

Thank God for small favors! But the VP has to be qualified to be President, and she is not, nor does she have the moral or ethical standards to hold high office. Check out how she put all her high school friends in positions of importance in the Alaska government, having fired the people who held the jobs before. Nice job, Sarah! Such a caring person. Seems like she doesn't care who she cans. It is, after all, their livelihood, ya know??

Your cover on Gov. Palin is really disturbing in that you chose to show her in a close-up and emphazised flaws in our face. Newsweek is such a disappointment. I used to read the publication but have become increasingly disturbed by your unprofessional and obvious bias for democrats. I know your sales have tanked of late and if you had a clue you'd stop letting your bias show. Obama won't win, no matter how much the liberal press (Newsweek included) tries to shove it (literally with the picture of Palin) in our face.

Just can't believe you would go on and on about a simple picture. That is the very LEAST of her problems.
Let's try for substance. Newsweek is not going to bring them down. They are doing it to themselves.

    • Posted By: benkrapf @ 10/11/2008 9:06:29 AM

I wouldn't vote for that one based on a picture.

    • Posted By: Nonpartay @ 10/11/2008 2:01:53 AM

Is she entering a beauty contest or WHAT? What difference does it make what her picture looks like? Sheesh. This is so amazing that anyone would think it was the least bit important!

    • Posted By: betterlife77 @ 10/11/2008 12:30:37 AM

On what facts do you base your prediction that Obama won't win? Why won't he win? Why shouldn't he win? Do you really want this country to continue on the same path it's been on for the last 8 years? Do you seriously not see anything wrong with the way the country is now??
