From Man to Mockery, and Back Again

In 'W.,' Oliver Stone approaches his subject as a historian, not just a filmmaker. The widely reviled Bush comes off better than you'd think.

Bill Clinton points to liberal Congressional Democrats' protection of Fannie and Freddie from scrutiny as a primary cause of the current economic meltdown.

To prove Bill Clinton's point, this is a link to a C-SPAN video clip of the Congressional hearings at roughly the time McCains attempt at S.190. to fix fannie and freddie.

"Video Unearthed Democrats in their own words Covering up the Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac Scam that caused our Economic Crisis"

The link below describes how some of those Democrats in Congress tried to use the original version of the bailout bill to divert money eventually recovered to groups like ACORN. See: Wall Street Journal

And here is Lou Dobbs reporting on ACORN corruption and ties to Obama, including Obama Campaign paying ACORN $800,000 for voter registration activities, and Obama representing them when he was a practicing attorney.

AJC Strongly Condemns Rev. Jesse Jackson's Comment on American Jews
October 14, 2008 - New York - The American Jewish Committee (AJC) has condemned the Rev. Jesse Jackson's statement about 'Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades.'
"Rev. Jackson's remarks, which appeared in an interview with the journalist Amir Taheri in today's New York Post, echo classic anti-Semitic conspiracy theories about Jewish power," said AJC Executive Director David A. Harris. 'This statement, regrettably, is not the first troubling comment by Rev. Jackson regarding Israel, Zionism and the Jewish people.'

Arguing as a private citizen that an Obama administration could bring significant change to U.S. foreign policy, Jackson was quoted as saying that "Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades" would lose much of their influence should Senator Obama be elected president."

And people are upset about raciest comments some in the crowd are allegedly saying at Palin events? Isn't this the same Democrat leader who once called New York "Hymietown"?

    Interesting ''be fellows"
Stone was recently admitted permission by Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to make a documentary about him. Stone had been previously refused permission by the Iranian government when the President's media advisor, Mehdi Kalhor, denounced Stone[citation needed] as being part of the "Great Satan" of American culture, despite his opposition to the Bush administration. He said "It is right that this person [Stone] is considered part of the opposition in the US, but opposition in the U.S. is a part of the great satan. We believe that the American cinema lacks culture and art."

    Did you know this?
In a January 2008 interview with The Observer, Stone expressed disgust for the ongoing presumed U.S.-supported paramilitary violence in Colombia's "war on drugs". He accompanied Hugo Chavez, Venezuela's president and self-appointed negotiator with the Colombian guerilla group known as Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, in the release of three hostages held for over 6 years, another episode in the Humanitarian Exchange affair.

This would make a really funny scene in a movie about Oliver Stone.

"Oliver Stone's parents divorced while he was away at The Hill School, and only then did Stone learn of his father's extramarital affairs with the wives of several family friends. Stone's father took him to a prostitute to lose his virginity, "

Who knows, maybe some young budding artist will produce a mockery of Oliver Stone some day......I will be the first in line to see it and take all my friends with me. It should be very funny to watch.

.....................................The Bush Movie is obviously a propaganda flick presented so close to the election to try to throw a few votes to the Bush Deciple......Maverick McCain. The 8 years that Bush gave us in real life were enough to wake up America to realize that the Bush policies and McCain and The Republicans need to take a position on the sidelines for the next 4 years.....they have done enough damage for a while!!!!!

  • Posted By: walley1078 @ 10/14/2008 7:17:57 PM

I love how people are so quick to apply our current issues to the Republicans just because they were in power. What they always neglect to mention is that McCain, while in general a deregulator, tried to pass a bill to regulate Freddie and Fannie a couple years ago but was defeated. He along with several others saw what was coming and knew it was coming but others in the Senate (yes, believe it or not some Democrats) shot it down. The other thing a lot of people conveniently forget is there were a number of people that can be pointed to in this mess, Barney Frank, Christoper Dodd, both Democrats, who oversaw the banking industry and claimed that everything was okay whileof th taking millions of dollars and/below market loans from financial institutions (like he needed that) are just as much at fault as the Treasury Secretary, a Republican among others. The gist of it is these people turned a blind eye to the problem because they got rich from it and as much as each party wants to blame the issue on the other, the fact is both em are responsible to varying degrees. The main thing at issue is that there were a lot of people and families that never should have owned homes because they couldn't afford them. Obama even sued the government to force some of these institutions to give people who couldn't afford them these loans, but this is also conveniently forgotten. Also forgotten or conveniently ignored is the fact that a couple of people on Obama's staff got incredibly rich off of this crisis as executives of these institutions. The other thing that amazes me is the fact that people don't know how our government works. It's called checks and balances. Every penny a president wants to spend has to be approved by Congress. Every war they want to enter has to be approved by Congress. Last time I checked that very same Congress is made up of both Democrats and Republicans. This ridiculous willingness to blame or give credit to whichever party is in power is so overly simplified it's unbelievable. Deep down it's both party's fault we're in the mess we're in. Rather than throw blame around let's work on a solution.

Can Arnold run in the next presidential election being that you don't have to be born in this country anymore, or is that just more special circumstances for Obama. Heaven help us the media and Hollywood pick the presidents. Unbelievable. Socialism here we come.

  • Posted By: bern1016 @ 10/14/2008 7:12:37 PM

The fraud that still stands today. Fake names, deceased people all voting Democrats. If Republicans did that, there would be riots. What an upstanding actor picked to play Bush, wasn't Brolin arrested for spousal abuse recently?

  • Posted By: bentl1 @ 10/13/2008 1:49:38 PM

Bush is the most reviled president in American history? Have you forgotten the man directly responsible for 9/11 and the current money crisis ..... Bill Clinton. Bush, in time, will probably go down as a new Lincoln for many. Only the freedom and America haters will disagree. He kept us from being attacked again, defeated almost every socialist program from the Dems and was an "America First" president. How refreshing .....

    • Posted By: LordVngr @ 10/14/2008 2:45:11 PM

LOL. Where do I start. Ok, I'll pick this one. "Defeated alomost evey socialist program from the dem's. Soooo, I take it your not Including Bailouts to Wall Street as not being a form of Socialism. Gess what it IS and it's Happening on Bush's Watch. History will SEE Bush for what he is, A Dumb Politican who Used the Excuse of 9/11 to take out Iraq and show his Dad who knows what. History will also show that Bush's and the Republicians DeRegulation Policies have Bankrupted this country and brought us closer to a Depression since 1929. I could go ON and ON But Why. It will be Refreshing when Bush is Finally Gone along with Mccain and his cast of traveling jesters.....

      • Posted By: RetUSN @ 10/14/2008 6:48:36 PM

LordVngr obviously you dont listen to or read the news. Even the liberal media agrees that in fact republicans attempted several times to re regulate banks and Fannie Maes to ensure stability and solvency and were repeatedly blocked by the likes of Barney Frank, Obama and other liberals. In fact barney Frnaks gay lover happens to sit on the board of the Fannie Mae and Fannie Mae contributed over $40,000 to his election campaign and similar amounts to Obama. Imagine if you will if Laura bush or Cindy McCain were on the board what an outcry there would be. But no one seems to feel that getting campaign contributions from an angency that you are supposed to be overseeing is a problem, through in a romantic relation between the regulator and the regulated agency and still no one sees a problem? How blind to facts are you? The fact of the matter is that a good portion of the economic problems the U.S faces today can be directly traced to poor loans that were not only encouraged by libs but demanded by them. Yet now they choose to obfuscate and blame republicans for their failings. Keep drinking the Kool-aid. Just remember in the future it wasn't corporate greed that did us in, it was liberal polititians greed that did so.

Where is Lee Harvey Oswald when you really, truly need him?

How can we hold our head up in the world, led as we are by a deplorable psycho. Dear God, please let no further disaster come our way before "The Great Divider" leaves the White House. Can't wait for the day when this SOB is just an ancient memory.

It has been politically insightful, however, to observe how the one man who has been personally responsible for most of the major disasters of our time. . . takes credit for "preventing worser ones".

Obama will not raise taxes if you make 42k or more, it's 250k or more.
Obama will be taking from the rich 5% of the country - it's been verified, do some research other than Fox news.
ANY president will have to reduce the military budget. With the economic crisis at hand, spending on all fronts will have to be cut back and revenues will have to be increased greatly. You do realize that your republican administration has squandered away our surplus and put our country in enormous debt. They had to remove the Debt counter in NY to add a digit, THATS HOW MUCH SPENDING REPUBLICANS HAVE DONE.
Calling Obama a terrorist is ignorant and biggotry. Do you really think a terrorist would be a member of our senate? Do you really? Are you that intellectualy bankrupt?
You sound like one of those ignorant people at the McCain rallies and you should be ashamed of yourself. You are the type of person that not only gives this country a bad name throughout the world, but incites hate and anger in the country. Thats a christian way to live huh? Educate yourself on facts, and here is a tip. You wont find them on conservative radio or fox news. Do some actual fact chekcing.

    • Posted By: Brookie17 @ 10/14/2008 7:59:29 AM

I've educated myself on the facts, Obama might as well be a terrorist. He is not patriotic, does not honor our anthem because it reminds him of war, he won't wear our flag because of how other nations view us, he has a terrorist flag hanging in his office, he's friends with a terrorist and his pastor of twenty years hates white america.

Thank you, Senator Joe McCarthy. Didn't know you were still around.

  • Posted By: MCGILL @ 10/14/2008 9:34:36 AM

I think all candidates should be held to the same standards and ethics. It appears that McCain/Palin come under much more scrutiny than Obama/Biden yet the acts of the Obama camp are openly criminal and yet they get swept under the carpet like no big deal. His funding of Acorn and voter fraud is just one of the acts among many that make him a questionable candidate.

    • Posted By: jeremyfive @ 10/14/2008 4:05:28 PM

Palin might get by with a lot less scrutiny if her every sentence were not a lie. Now she is claiming at public gatherings that she was found innocent of wrong-doing on the Trooper-Gate affair. She was not. She was found guilty of abusing her office. Actually, I think her lies and deception warrant a whole lot closer scrutiny--seems to me she's been given a free pass so far.

Funny how everybody seems to forget about the voter fraud that happened back in 2000- particulary in the state of Florida where at the time, Jeb Bush was the Governer. I am not exusing the allegations of fraud for the Obama campaign, lets just not forget past.. I think in this election, the cream will rise to the top, the american people are too fed up and concerned about their future.

  • Posted By: dereks3kds @ 10/14/2008 3:17:00 PM

Without a doubt the MOST destructive president in our nations history. Bush has rested his administration soley on a redemption- like strategy and in the process has made the U.S. one the most disprespected countries in the world.. It will be like getting new life when we get a new president (McCain or Obama)..

  • Posted By: dereks3kds @ 10/14/2008 3:08:59 PM

This should be an interesting yet sad movie, Bush has rested his entire adminstration on the redemption stategy and during this process he has managed to become THE MOST destructive president in our nation's history. I am certain the world will be talking about this debacle for the next 100+ years

  • Posted By: jonathanw @ 10/14/2008 2:23:41 PM
