Bravo rail60. The Republican base is the most uninformed fanatics this country has to offer. They're afraid of anything that's not just like them. I think they're afraid of their own shadow. I attend a baptist church in the midwest. I know how evangelical leaders play their sheep. It's disgusting.

Don't you dare speak for all of us Americans. Many of us have not bought McMansions or been overloaded with debt. Many of us did not support the Iraq war, or the Patriot Act, or the torture, or any number of actions the Bush administration has taken.

But we have not been covered by the corporate media. Remember, Bush was not officially elected in 2000.

The media has been a cheerleader for the Bush administration these past eight years.

And by the way, your comment about Obama's advisors was not a plus. Most of them were involved in deregulation , which put us into this mess in the first place. Why would I trust those advisors?

You did not mention that jobs have been outsourced and the median income of Americans has not risen for years. Wealth has been transferred to the top 1% of income earners, which I assume you are part of.

It is my goal to get in touch with someone from the Obama campaign and share with them my desire to be a part of his inauguration by reciting a poem I wrote called ???We Must Change,??? and I kindly ask for your help in doing so.
Go to youtube and do a search for "thinkverybig" and watch all of those videos. The one called "We Must Change" would be fitting to recite at Obama's Inauguration

In the late 1950's most Cubans thought Cuba needed a change, and they were right. So when a young leader came along promising Change, every Cuban was at least receptive. When the young leader spoke eloquently and passionately and denounced the old system, the press fell in love with him... They never questioned who his friends were or what he really believed in.

He said he would help the farmers and the poor and bring free medical care and education to all, and everyone followed. He said he would bring justice and equality to all, and everyone said 'Praise the Lord!'

The young leader said, 'I will be for change and I'll bring you change,' everyone yelled, 'Viva Fidel!' But by the time the executioner's guns went silent, the people's guns had been taken away. By the time everyone was equal, they were equally poor, hungry, and oppressed. By the time everyone received their free education it was worth nothing . By the time the press noticed, it was too late, because they were now working for him. By the time the change was finally implemented Cuba had been knocked down a couple of notches to Third-World status. By the time the change was over, more than a million people had taken to boats, rafts, and inner tubes fleeing to Florida .

Luckily, we in America would never fall for a young leader who promises change without asking, WHAT change? Or have we fallen for smooth talking jive?

This is no longer a free-speech America it is a fascist state and people like you fit right in with your right-wing hate mongering. You are afraid of blacks, that's the problem with people like you, you are AFRAID. You are losing and it scares the hell out of you. You are probably losing investments, etc., and you feel the ground shifting under your feet and you don't know what to do.
Too bad, so sad, I'm glad. It's you and your kind that created this mess. Now live with it. Life as you know it no longer exists. Cheer up things can and will only get worse. Have you got a tent and soup dish ready?

The conclusion (???If we can learn the right lessons from this crisis, the United States will once more be playing by its own rules??? ), as is usual with Fareed???s otherwise excellent analyses, is so overly optimistic as to be borderline naïve. The very first lesson to learn is that, while in large part, yes, Americans will once mare play by their own rules, that???s only in large part, but not exclusively nor, for that matter, nearly-exclusively. For one thing, the position of the US dollar as the dominant reserve currency of the world, accounting for at least two-thirds of all countries??? store of value for their forex reserves, s gone forever. We will henceforth have either a number of such reserve currencies (Dollar, Yuan, Yen, Euro, maybe Saudi Riyal) or some fiat currency that will emerge from a redesigned SDR accounting unit currently used by the multilateral financial institutions. Additionally, since laissez-faire will imperatively be replaced, globally, by discretionary economic policy (fiscal policy, monetary policy, wage-price policy, trading rules), ???economic convergence??? will be need to be actively pursued by the various political/economic/military poles that will emerge in the new global geopolitical order and financial architecture. This will limit the freedom f the US to play by its own rules in disregard of other countries??? preferences and inclinations.

But then, again, the other part of Fareed Zakaria???s conclusion becomes even more true: ??? And that cannot be bad for us.???

Bush did nothing to stop this. Bush increased the budget deficit and doubled the national debt. Furthermore, he wasted 1 trillion of taxpayer dollars on an immoral and useless war driven by his unconscious father complex. Bush squandered American good will in the world and alienated our foreign partners. Bush will go down as the worst president in history. His Republican cronies in the Congress will be swept out in November.

At some point some of you will reach the ACCOUNTABILITY presence.
Bush did not give you credit cards to abuse and overspend. Bush did not send these cards in your mail for you to squander on materialistic things y ou could not afford.
Bush did not send an SUV to your door and twist your arm to buy the gas-guzzling vehicle that replaced the one you could afford and afford to run.
Bush did not give you a loan for a house that you knew when you applied for credit you could not afford, but took the money from the institution who allowed you to jeopardize your financial situation for the next 30 years.
Bush did not drive you to Wal-Mart three times this week to buy a big screen tv that you do not have a wall big enough to put it on.
Bush did not invite you to go on a vacation with your buddies as well as with your family later on in the year and put on your credit card, which you now cannot keep up the minimum payment on.
Bush did not do any of these things.
      YOU DID!
      YOU DID!
      BLAME WHO IS RESPONSIBLE!
And now you want to ''hire'' Obama because he propels the idea that he and the Democratic Party will TAKE CARE OF THY BROTHER!
WHOSE BROTHER? Obama's brother? The same brother who lives in Kenya under a sqalored bush?
      TAKE THE BLAME, AMERICANS!
Do not ask for any HANDOUTS from YOUR government which is trying to save your backside now!

In a few weeks we will make a choice that will decide our future.
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
Also, he perfectly predicted the current real estate market meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen in the next couple years
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide ,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch , Fanny and Freddy Mae ,AIG
The government took them over because they are essentially bankrupt. Even with the goverment nationalizing hundreds of billions of dollars in debt the stock market is crashing
the credit markets are frozen and all of us may suffer beyond anything in the last 80 years.
McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand exactly what is broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use complex mathematical models very few people understand.
Bush and McCain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.
Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.
Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy. He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He didnt realize that anything was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime. Check out this link to the truth http://my.barackobama.com/keatingvideo
It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a surplus like Bush did but a crashing economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit. Most of it Bush created and it will take decades to pay it back.
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why are the polls even close then ?
Mccains team just said they no longer want to talk about the economy.Instead they would like to spend time talking about obama
which means running the biggest smear campaign in history.
They think they can just tell you lies and you wont be smart enough to see through it
Let's teach him we are smarter than that .

Zakaria is just another one of those liberal left wing nuts that Obama has by the balls. Palin's problem in this unfair, unethical news media mess is that with Sarah Palin, you get what you see. With Obama, you get a well programmed empty robot. He is well programmed by his radical, corrupt, greedy advisors. Most of his financial advisors are responsible for the current financial crisis that American taxpayers are being asked to bailout. Those same corrupt financial advisors are planning the economic strategy for America's future under an Obama regime. Take careful note that I said 'regime'.

Reporters and commentators like Zakaria does not dare print the whole truth about Obama. Obama has NO experience in foreigh affairs, economics, and leadership skills and Zakaria knows that well. He also knows that Obama is running for the number ONE spot on the Socialist ticket and Governor Palin is running for the number TWO spot on the Republican ticket. And, he knows that the person that will be inaugurated as president in January had better know what they are doing from day one. Does this article reflect on Zakaria's inability to be fair and honest with the American people? Does it really sound like he LOVES this country and is a patriot. Not by a long shot!

To those of you that were fooled by the debate, remember Obama took a four day crash course in foreign policy. McCain has had a course in foreign policy for most of his adult life. And, also remember, that McCain has loved and respected this country all of his adult life. He has given more to this country than any young adult out there can only dream about. Our young adults seem to be more interested in filthy rap, video games, dope, alcohol, the polluted internet, and sex than what they could do for our country. They want a cool and hip president, not one that is ready to lead this country and heal it's wounds. They are intent on electing a president that fits their moods rather than one to fix their country.

No, Governor Palin is not yet the smooth talker and fake that Obama is. Her indepth training in politics, and running, controlling, and budgeting as a governor is only something that Obama now wishes he had. Her experience is much deeper, more wholesome, and more honest than Obama's. Wouldn't it be nice if Zakaria was a REAL reporter, an honest reporter? Wouldn't it be nice if he would tell the American people the REAL and COMPLETE truth? If I were Newsweek, I would be embarrassed and would fire this nitwit today.

    Mr. Zakaria:

Although infrastructure investment is wise, there's never a bad time to reduce the percent of GDP that government consumes. It's currently at 20%, which is the highest it's been in nearly two decades and it's unsustainable. Bush has been an abject failure in this regard, having never vetoed a spending bill during the first six years of his presidency.

To expedite our way out of this debacle, we should reduce our capital gains tax, corporate tax, and make the Bush tax cuts permanent, which will help recover lost jobs. The bottom 50% income earners in the US pay 4.5% percent of federal income taxes; the top 5% pay 55%, so the system is already steeply progressive, for everyone except arch-liberals.

And, yes, our individual savings/debt ratios are horrible, but that's a cultural matter, which is to say we've lost the virtue of discipline, which is also why 33% of us are overweight--slovenliness.

    The Lie Clock

A man died and went to heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter at the Pearly Gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him.

He asked, 'What are all those clocks?'

St. Peter answered, 'Those are Lie-Clocks. Everyone on Earth has a Lie-Clock.

Every time you lie the hands on your clock will move.'

'Oh,' said the man, 'whose clock is that?'

'That's Mother Teresa's. The hands have never moved, indicating that she never told a lie.'

'Incredible,' said the man'. And whose clock is that one?'

St. Peter responded, 'That's Abraham Lincoln's clock. The hands
have moved twice, telling us that Abe told only two lies in his entire life.'

'Where's Presidential nominee Obama's clock?' asked the man.

'Obama's clock is in Jesus' office.

He's using it as a ceiling fan.
