AIP's creation was inspired by the rabidly violent anti-Americanism of its founding father Joe Vogler, "I'm an Alaskan, not an American," reads a favorite Vogler quote on AIP's current website, "I've got no use for America or her damned institutions." According to Vogler AIP's central purpose was to drive Alaska's secession from the United States. Alaska, says current Chairwoman Lynette Clark, "should be an independent nation."

Vogler was murdered in 1993 during an illegal sale of plastic explosives that went bad. The prior year, he had renounced his allegiance to the United States explaining that, "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government." He cursed the stars and stripes, promising, "I won't be buried under their damned flag...when Alaska is an independent nation they can bring my bones home." Palin has never denounced Vogler or his detestable anti-Americanism.

Palin's husband Todd remained an AIP party member from 1995 to 2002. Sarah can be described in McCarthy-era palaver as a "fellow traveler." While retaining her Republican registration, she attended the AIP's 1994 convention where the party called for a draft constitution to secede from the United States and create an independent nation of Alaska. The McCain Campaign has reluctantly acknowledged that she also attended AIP's 2000 Convention. She apparently found the experience so inspiring that she agreed to give a keynote address at the AIP's 2006 convention and she recorded a video greeting for this year's 2008 convention. In other words, this is not something that happened when she was eight!

So when Palin accuses Barack of "not seeing the same America as you and me," maybe she is referring to an America without Alaska. In any case, isn't it time the media start giving equal time to Palin's buddy list of anti-American bombers and other radical associates?

The media is -knowingly- abdicating their responsibilities by failing to report any and all details about ANY candidate.!!McCain should be ashamed/censored for his cynical choice of Palin to "firm up" his base consisting of religious nutcakes, and mentally unhinged voters who are unwilling to let the facts/truths interfere with their base instincts/judgement(?)..No one stops to consider for one moment Palin's judgement by her association/affiliation with the Kenyan minister (read:Kenyan domestic terrorist) who hounded one (possibly innocent)woman out of her home in Kenya.. Even Gov. Charlie Crist, who helped deliver Florida for McCain during the primary, said he will spend the final weeks before Election Day minding the state's weak economy rather than campaigning for the Arizona senator.

''When I have time to help, I'll try to do that,'' Crist said last week, after he flew around the state with McCain running mate Sarah Palin. Saturday, he skipped a McCain football rally and instead went to Disney World.

Once considered a potential running mate, Crist had pledged to do all he could for McCain and spent several days this summer campaigning for the Republican nominee in and outside Florida. He faults the tough economic times for McCain's difficult time in Florida, where he trails rival Barack Obama by about 5 percentage points in the polls.

No Republican has won the White House in modern times without carrying Florida. The last to lose the state was McCain's former colleague, Sen. Bob Dole, in 1996. Some Republicans say the state party hasn't done enough, while others blame McCain's national campaign.

Roger Stone, a longtime McCain supporter, said the state party and the national campaign bear almost equal blame.

''This effort lacks coordination and a cooperative spirit and it's showing,'' Stone said. "But it's more than mechanics. The campaign has no consistent message.''

Over the summer, the Obama camp spent at least $10 million on Florida television ads ??? 4,000 of the spots attacking McCain ??? while McCain spent nothing.

The failure by the party and McCain's campaign to respond to an Obama radio ad in Florida that bashed McCain over embryonic stem-cell research was ''a perfect example of them not being on the ball in Florida,'' Stone said, echoing numerous Florida Republicans.

But national campaign officials said McCain is within striking distance of Obama in the polls, has ample time to turn things around, and had a winning strategy until Wall Street's crash.

The Alaska Legislative Council did NOT find Sarah Palin guilty of abusing her power. They only voted to RELEASE Mr. Branchflower's personal report. According to MSNBC, on Oct. 10, even THAT vote was "NOT without dissension". So much for "unanimity". To release is NOT to endorse. The Council did NOT endorse the report, at least not yet. The firing of Monegan was LEGAL, even if the family grudge against Mr. Wooten was a PARTIAL reason for it. In my OPINION, Mr. Wooten SHOULD have been fired, long ago. AND, in my OPINION, his union was craven for defending him.
Mr. Branchflower's report is NOT the final word. His own conclusions, and the veracity and personal agendas of those whose testimony he relied on to make his conclusions, are also legitimately open to question. None of us yet know if the opinions of those he interviewed, and accepted affidavits from, are, in fact, unanimous, or wholly accurate. You can view his report online. It is not as "black-and-white" as many here would like to believe. It is not up to us to determine whether Sarah Palin violated Alaska Law. It is up to the Alaska Personnel Board, and they are conducting their own investigation. None of you know ALL the facts anymore than I do. Before you decide to string up Sarah Palin just because you don't like her ideology, you would all be better served by being considerably more contemplative.
I find it rather remarkable that many of the same people who whine about "smears" and "hate-mongering", whenever anyone DARES to question Obama's integrity, are the same people who use the most vitriolic insults, unproven rumors and conspiracy theories against Sarah Palin and her family.
I know the difference between an opinion on the one hand, and, on the other hand, a FACT that will actually stand up in a COURT OF LAW. Opinions are NOT facts. Rumors are NOT proof. Conspiracy theories are NOT evidence.

Perhaps that is why Palin accepted the VP candidacy - to get out of Alaska before the sh-- hit the fan.

A HISTORIC TICKET.... Now that Sarah Palin has been found to have abused her powers, violated state ethics, and lied about it, I did a little digging and found an interesting historical footnote.

The McCain/Palin ticket is the first in American history in which both candidates were found to have violated ethics standards before a national election.

McCain, of course, was admonished by Senate Ethics Committee "for exercising 'poor judgment' for intervening" with federal regulators on behalf of Charles Keating, as part of the infamous Keating Five scandal.

And now McCain's running mate has also been found to have violated state ethics laws and abused the powers of her office, as part of the "Troopergate" scandal.

The nation has had 102 major-party tickets covering 51 presidential elections over more than two centuries. And we've never had a ticket in which both candidates on the same ticket were responsible for ethics violations before a national election. McCain/Palin is the first.

It makes the whole "reform" pitch a little more difficult, doesn't it?

NO WAY, NO HOW, NO McCAIN/PALIN

NO LESSON LEARNED! This woman does not understand what a serious offense breach of trust is, nor did she understand that abuse of power is an impeachable offense. In Western European systems she would have gone by now--but she is not classy enough to tender her resignation. She loves all the benefits she derives from office, some of them questionable--like the way she abused the per diem claims. Palin is not maverick or reformers; she is just a corrupt politician with a barb in her mouth, like a gutter sniper.

This is another example where Obama should not be allowed to be president. He railroaded Democrats to have them say: 1) If your relatives are TAZERED (young children at age 10) it is perfectly ok. 2) Its ok if drunken policemen threaten harm to your parents. Its ok for governors to love their relatives and their parents-in-law;. How shameful is Obama and Biden - they are wrong for American familes. Shameful!

The Democrats are just plain wrong here. The firing of the Alaskan was FINE. The Democrats would have you belive that 1) Tazering young children is perfectly fine and something a governor should not be concerned about. (What if your favorite nephew was tazered for doing nothing wrong?) 2) OK to threaten parents (What if your parents were threatened with harm by a drunken police officer?) Sarah did nothing wrong.

Obama, who used cocaine, is not for the American family. He and his "hit squad" support tazering of young children by drunken policemen. The press such as Michael Iskoff supports harming children. Obama supports drunken policemen threatening the lives of one's parents-in-law. Such shameful smear tactics by a man who has been seen not to even have the respect to pledge the American flag. Obama-wrong for all!
