Bush Strategist: McCain Knows He Put Country At Risk With Palin Pick

Matthew Dowd, a prominent political consultant and chief strategist for George W. Bush's reelection campaign eviscerated John McCain on Tuesday for his choice of Sarah Palin as vice president.

Dowd proclaimed that, in his heart of hearts, McCain knew he put the country at risk with his VP choice and that he would "have to live" with that fact for the rest of his career.

What's hilarious (I think) is to see McCain's face when Obama looks him in the eye and brings up Timmons (Head of McCains transition team), Vincent and Park in the "unregistered agent" Saddam Hussein scandal...

Now, Tucker Bounds... who's pallin around with Terrorists?

How is that different from the catholic church lying to people that they will go to hell where they will be tortured by devils? How is it different from the nuns telling little boys they will go blind if they masturbate? Scare tactics and deliberate lies are part of our so-called "culture".

Vera baker is a staffer who worked for Barack Obama during his run in 2004. Rumor has it that Michelle Obama was complaining about the supposed close friendship between Barack Obama and Vera Baker and before the public knew it, she was transferred to work at the Caribbean on the island of Martinique.
The story goes as following: Vera Baker was Obama's "Finance Director" for his 2004 Senate campaign and made a good buck doing so. Although those who followed the campaign, Claire Serdiuk was known as the finance director on all the postings but strangely Vera Baker was paid too for the same position but not listed. According to reports, Michelle Obama became very angry about something and all of a sudden Vera Baker was relocated to New york It is said that Michelle was EXTRA angry about something, but it was not specified as to what in the media. And then, not very long after that relocating to Vera Baker found herself on the island of Martinique.the republicans are sending 60 lawyers to dig this up kinda like the way the democrats did to sarah palin in alaska ! seems turnabout is fair play !

Obama explains his objection to our National Anthem and Flag!!

Hot on the heels of his explanation for why he no longer wears a flag pin, presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama was forced to explain why he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.

According to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171, During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart.

"As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides,' Obama said. 'There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the Anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song 'I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.'

WHAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!!!! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this could possibly be our next president. I, for once, am speechless.

He better take sides..........if he is not on the side of AMERICA he MUST NOT EVEN BE CONSIDERED for the office he is seeking. We do not need a man in office that will not salute the flag. The world knows how to sing, what they need to know is that the USA will defend what that flag stands for.

Here Jim-bo, Did the legwork for you: Video of Sen Obama, leading Senate session, saying pledge of allegiance with his hand on his heart: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JD6bKaVW-ls

Any other drivel you'd like to promulgate? For other readers, after you read Jim's delusional and/or duplicitous postings (any lie to make a point), suggest simply checking out Snopes or any one of a number of fact check organizations to validate. Enough mud being slung (sadly, on both sides) to warrant double checking before you fwd or re-post some rant, Let's at least debate (without resorting to impugning the morality or patriotism of those who hold differing views) on records, facts. policies - whadda ya say?

      Hi Jim,

I usually research a lot of the posts that I read. Here are my findings after reading your post.

You mention that Obama said that he doesnt wear a flag pin cuz there are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression and that he didn???t want to be perceived as taking sides. I found that this was a rumor circulated via an email. . . Is this where you heard about Obamas view as to why he does not wear a flag pin (although he does wear one these days, off and on,I noticed). Anyways, from what I find it is perceived as a rumor.

      http://politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/459/ .

I did confirm that during a rendition of our country's national anthem, if Obama and others present are in a crowd honoring America's national anthem (with a flag displayed) they are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with their right hand over their heart. So if Obama was at an event not taking such action as others, I dont know how to explain that one.

      Jim,

Where exactly did you read this as it seems very very unlikely that Obama would be STUPID enough to make this statement. Please provide a link, if he made this statement then it IS on the net.

Again, where exactly did you read this information?

      continuation from prior post...

A closer look a these numbers suggests an even more substantial advantage for Obama???39% of voters have a Very Favorable opinion of the Democratic nominee while 32% have a Very Unfavorable opinion. The comparable numbers for McCain are 23% Very Favorable and 26% Very Unfavorable.

Just 48% of Republicans have a Very Favorable opinion of their party???s nominee. Seventy-two percent (72%) of Democrats are that enthusiastic about Obama (see other recent demographic highlights).

Forty-nine percent (49%) of voters now say that economic issues such as jobs and economic growth are the most important voting issue this year. Eighteen percent (18%) consider national security issues such as the War with Iraq and the War on Terror as the highest priority. These numbers highlight a dramatic shift in voter concerns from Election 2004. On the day of our nation???s last Presidential Election, 41% name named national security as the top issue and just 26% cited economic issues.

While the economy is the dominant issue of Election 2008 and national security a distant second, 11% of voters are most interested in domestic issues like Social Security and Health Care; 9% name fiscal issues such as taxes and government spending; and 7% cite cultural issues such as same-sex marriage and abortion.

Republicans are fairly evenly divided as to whether economic issues or national security is most important. Democrats overwhelming are focused on the economy while national security ranks third on their list behind both the economy and other domestic issues.

    • Posted By: Right is RIGHT!!! @ 10/13/2008 10:09:23 AM

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows Barack Obama attracting 50% of the vote while John McCain earns 45%. That???s a bit closer than numbers from a week ago when Obama enjoyed an eight-point advantage, his largest lead of the year.

Still, the data continues to suggest a very stable race with Obama as the clear frontrunner. This is the eighteenth straight day that Obama???s support has stayed in the narrow range from 50% to 52% while McCain has been at 44% of 45% (see trends).

Tracking Poll results are released every day at 9:30 a.m. Eastern and a FREE daily e-mail update is available.

Obama is viewed favorably by 56% of voters, McCain by 51%. For McCain, that figure in unchanged since yesterday and represents his lowest favorability rating since Obama clinched the Democratic Presidential Nomination in early June.

Jim you are wasting your breath and precious time with stupidity.. The operative word is stupidity.

OK, let's say we go along with the author
    that the fundamentals of negative campaigning are sound;
    that negativity is "underappreciated",
and brings out "potentially more and more detailed information that positive ads, do."
Does she mean that these details are more true or just more false?

In McCain's case; having seven top lobbyists and one superlobbyist running your campaign
is EXACTLY "being in bed" with lobbyists and Washington.
So that bit of negative detail was actually illuminating, as she says.

But let's make a deal. Inciting your audience to riot is the ultimate NET PRODUCT
of negative campaiging, smears, lies, and ads which do character smearing and guilt by association.

    So, here's the deal:
The first time someone is injured physically or worse
due to McCain and his campaign's hate rhetoric at his rallies or elsewhere,
let him step down from the Senate
and admit to behavior unbecoming of a United States Senator.

Let him admit to allowing his colleague and sometime collaborator to be
called a 'te.....ist" repeatedly on the stump.
Let him admit that he is implying that there are terrorists in the US Senate.

    OK?
    So until then.....

  • Posted By: bluebloodedLV @ 10/14/2008 2:33:19 PM

It works if you are small minded, paranoid and cannot think for yourself. The McCain/Palin supporters are now going around calling Obama a terrorist, which is the only logical conclusion if you believe Palin's spew that Obama is "palling" around with terrorists. What is truly sad is that they are inciting hate, fear and violence. Someone is going to think they are saving America and try to take Obama out. How Christian of the McCain/Palin ticket, huh? How would they really be able to sleep at night if an attempt was made on Obama's life? It's disgraceful and McCain needs to seriously call these people out, publicly and on television so that he is not complicit to any act of violence against Obama.

  • Posted By: NewsWkDickG @ 10/14/2008 1:17:13 PM

John McCain consistently gives the impression that he is not all that bright; frequently he appears to not know what to do, he changes positions often and then everything he ever does is always for him and his political status. He has clearly demonstrated all of that over his whole career and then again so obviously when he selected Sarah Palin, who is bazaar, self-focused, dishonest, incompetent and just ridiculous. Additionally we only need to look at the last eight years under Bush-Cheney and where we are today and remember, in spite of all of their claims to be different, who strongly and even arrogantly supported all of it and ask ourselves are we now going to reward and encourage that? It is very hard to see how this presidential race can even be close and it can only be explained by people being distracted and focused on the wrong things, by their giving credit to the garbage being thrown around and neglecting to focus on the issues. If we don???t want more of the same or even worse, then we had better put our biases and prejudices aside, refusing to let our emotions be manipulated, and concentrate on the reality of things. If we don???t, the looser won???t be Barack Obama, it will be us!

McCain is a [Acorn Man] and other Republicans too !!!

40% of Acorn's Registered Voters have been [Republicans]

    Hahahaha !!

On Monday, the Democratic-leaning group ACORN, which has been painted as a criminal enterprise by the GOP for its voter registration and housing policy efforts, pushed back against its critics by producing a photo of John McCain attending its March 2006 rally.

It was a reminder that, for all their electoral histrionics, Republicans have aligned themselves with ACORN in the past.

Indeed, in addition to the McCain photo, there is a host of examples of prominent McCain surrogates attending ACORN events, signing ACORN legislation, or complimenting the group's efforts.

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, for example, partnered with ACORN in March 2008 for a "Homeownership Promotes The Economy" taskforce. More recently, Crist declared that -- contrary to GOP outrage -- he was not upset with the group's voter registration efforts in his state. The New York Times reported that ACORN supported a law signed by Governor Crist, which "changed the rules last year to restore the voting rights of about 112,000 former convicts."

In July 2005, meanwhile, another Republican governor, Rick Perry of Texas, signed ACORN's Lending Law Reform Bill that changed the state's homelending practices.

In July 2008, California Governor and McCain supporter Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a bill that ACORN helped draft aimed at California homeowners facing foreclosure.

In June 2007, Minnesota Governor and McCain VP short-lister Tim Pawlenty signed a similar bill -- drafted by ACORN -- that helped homeowners get fairer deals on their mortgages.

"The legislation was drafted according to recommendations made by a predatory lending study group established by Swanson prior to the legislative session," wrote the Northwestern Financial Review. "The study group contained representatives from the banking industry and the mortgage brokers association, as well as consumer advocates from organizations such as Illegal Aid and ACORN."

As Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney signed an anti-predatory lending bill that ACORN supported. In February 2006, Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman met with the ACORN Katrina Survivors Association. And back in July 2005, New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg actually got a kiss from ACORN's state leader, according to the publication City Limits, during an announcement that the city would protect or create 65,000 affordable units in a new housing proposal. Bloomberg, it should be noted, has not endorsed a candidate.

Floridas election chief says that they failed to remove thousands (as much as 30K) of ineligible felons from voter registration? What the . . ? Florida and all the battleground states just happen to be showing signs of voter registration fraud thru ACORN? . . . In favor of Democrats? Wow. Im sure that Obama and his campaign handlers (who originate from the dirty politics of Chicagos Political Machine) had no part . . .well no DIRECT part. . To ensure that this happens? Wow. What a way to get elected what could be the first black POTUS. But again, he is from the political world on the South Side of Chicago. Enough said.

FLORIDA VOTER ROLLS CONTAIN THOUSANDS OF CONVICTED FELONS
    By SALLY KESTIN - Sun-Sentinel
    Sunday, October 12, 2008

    (Part 1 of 2)

More than 30,000 FLORIDA FELONS who by law SHOULD HAVE BEEN STRIPPED OF THEIR RIGHT TO VOTE remain registered to cast ballots in this presidential battleground state, a Sun-Sentinel investigation has found.

Many are faithful voters, with at least 4,900 turning out in past elections.
Another 5,600 are not likely to vote Nov. 4 . . . They are still in prison.
Of the felons who registered with a party, Democrats outnumber Republicans more than two to one.

Floridas elections chief, Secretary of State Kurt Browning, acknowledged his staff has FAILED TO REMOVE THOUSANDS OF INELIGIBLE FELONS because of a shortage of workers and a crush of new registrations in this CRITICAL SWING STATE.
Browning said he was not surprised by the newspapers findings. Im kind of shocked that the number is as low as it is, he said.

Asked how many ineligible felons may be on Floridas rolls, Browning said, We dont know. The Division of Elections has a BACKLOG OF MORE THAN 108,000 POSSIBLE FELONS who have registered to vote since January 2006 that it hasnt had the time or staff to verify. Browning estimated that about 10 percent, once checked, would be ineligible.

This is part of a big mess, said Jeff Manza, professor of sociology at New York University and author of a book on felon voting. Its almost certain there will be challenges if the election is close enough that things hinge on this. Both parties are armed to the teeth with legal talent in all the battleground states.

I'm an ardent Obama supporter who is perplexed by his vexing denial of being a Muslim or of Arab descent. I believe his answer to those bigots, should be of two words: So What! There utterly intolerant of differing creed, belief, or opinion; should not be rewarded or dignified by a denial. So What!!! or So!!!

America prides itself as a nation where "All Are Created Equal" with "Liberty And Justice For ALL." No where in the Preamble or the Constitution is the word Arab or Muslim restricted. We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union; should ignore those loose-tooth Appalachian junkies, with their deep-seated myopia and head-on to the new dawn.

Those are the McCain people -- zombies and misfits, who can't read beyond their noses. They have the same IQ rating as their inciter - Sarah Palin. They campaign, not for the Presidency, but the Grand-Order-Of (You Know What.) There are 3ks in there ( do the maths.)

    God Bless America!

I applaud your tolerance. But Obama's not a Muslim - by definition.

A Muslim is required by Islamic law to profess his faith if asked. Failure to do this is considered apostasy, and is grounds for immediate expulsion from Islam. This also applies to praying five times a day to Mecca with the headcovering on, and other Muslim rituals I won't go into here.

If one doesn't do these things, one is not a Muslim. Period. The imams won't accept it.

I'm surprised no one has asked any actual professed Muslims whether they think Obama is Muslim or not. That would clear the whole thing up in a hurry.

McCain's Negative Ads lacked the Desire Effect...

It did not Help his campaign.

Sarah Palin, did not Help, Has not Helped and wil Not Help his Campaign.

The Greatest Surge in the polls that Mccain has had, was in Introducing Palin and Palin's Flawed Accepetance Speech and even with that, Mccain just Broke EVEN with Obama.

Since Charlie Gibson's & Katie Couric's Interviews, the Bad Economy, The 2 Presidential Debates an the VP Debates and the 3 Saturday Night Live Skits....

Obama has Extended his leads in the polls, as well as the Electoral College Map...

The Culmination therof and Obama's Steady Hand at the Helm has made John McCain's Eradict Behavior look like the Mature, Posed Leader and John McCain, Look like the Hot Headed, Irrational Youngster and Most Republican Conservatives have assessed this as TRUE....

    So Much for Negative Ads.

John McCain said later last week, that " Sen. Obama is a Good & Decent, Familiy Man" after all his Race Mongering. He had to Eat His Hate Mongering Politics and state the Truth.

Two other ethics complaints involving Palin are known. One, by activist Andree McLeod, alleges that state hiring practices were circumvented for a Palin supporter. The case is not related to Monegan's firing. The other, by the Public Safety Employees Association, alleges that trooper Mike Wooten's personnel file was illegally breached by state officials.

John Cyr, the PSEA executive director, said Monday the union plans to amend its complaint to be sure the board investigates "harassment" of Wooten as well.

Petumenos has not spoken to the press, in keeping with the secrecy of the state process. But he gave a rough description of the investigation's course in two letters to an Anchorage attorney threatening a lawsuit over Palin's effort to waive confidentiality.

Attention is turning this week to the Personnel Board -- the state's official avenue for investigating ethics complaints -- after release of the Legislature's Troopergate investigation last Friday. The Legislature's investigator concluded that Palin was within her rights to fire Monegan as public safety commissioner, but abused her power and broke the ethics law in joining her husband to push for the firing of Wooten, who was once married to the governor's sister.

Palin reversed an earlier pledge and refused to cooperate with the Legislature's investigation, calling it politically biased. In an unusual twist, she filed the ethics complaint against herself before the board, saying she hoped to "clear the air" by an inquiry through proper channels. She asked the board to decide if she broke ethics laws or acted improperly in dismissing Monegan or in dealing with Wooten -- basically the same ground Branchflower covered.

Petumenos has requested a copy of Friday's legislative report, including confidential backup material, said Sen. Kim Elton, D-Juneau, chairman of the Legislative Council. Elton said the council will meet Thursday to vote on whether to give Petumenos all the material gathered by its investigator, Steve Branchflower.

Petumenos was hired by the Personnel Board to handle the case because the state attorney general's office, which normally investigates ethics charges, would have a conflict investigating the governor.

Under the state's inscrutable system for investigating official ethics complaints, there's no way to tell how long Petumenos' investigation might take. The Personnel Board, made up of three gubernatorial appointees, has meetings scheduled for Oct. 20 and Nov. 3. Agendas for those meetings mention confidential ethics matters to be handled in executive session.

Former Alaska Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan said Monday he feels "relieved" by a legislative report concluding that Gov. Sarah Palin abused her authority by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper.

"I've never contested my firing. My Firing was completely Lawful," Monegan said in a nationally broadcast interview. "It wasn't that I was fired that I asked any questions. It was, what were the reasons for the firing."

Monegan declined to say in an interview with NBC's "Today" show what legal options, if any, he might be exploring in the wake of the findings announced late Friday in Alaska by investigator Stephen Branchflower.

Monegan did say that he and his family were pleased with the report's conclusions.

"Actually, I feel relieved," he said. "My wife and I have been through a lot. It's not a matter of being revenged. It's just strictly a matter of being relieved." Monegan was interviewed by telephone from Alaska.

In his report Friday to a bipartisan panel that looked into the matter, Branchflower found Palin in violation of a state ethics law that prohibits public officials from using their office for personal gain. Palin has said that Monegan's tenure as the state's lead law enforcement officer ended because of policy differences.

The inquiry looked into the dismissal of Monegan, who said he lost his job because he resisted pressure to fire a state trooper involved in a bitter divorce and custody battle with the governor's sister.

"I feel vindicated," Monegan had said late Friday. "It sounds like they've validated my belief and opinions. And that tells me I'm not totally out in left field."

On Monday, Monegan said the controversy "really isn't about me."

"I think that we're more concerned about our governor," he added, "and I think she took a big blow to her credibility and more significantly to her promises of being open and transparent."

Asked how he planned to vote in the November elections, Monegan said he didn't want to say, telling his interviewer that's why they "put those little curtains around" the polling booth.

Wright, Billy boy Ayers, the Chicago Mafia, Fanny & Freddie kickbacks, etc., etc. Gee, and I thought Osama was the new Messiah!

Thanks Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, Thatnks Hitler, Thanks Stalin, Thank You Mussolini, Thank You Aryan National, Thanks Nazi Imperialist...Thanks

Palin spoke on the phone with Alaska reporters about the report. The McCain-Palin campaign only allowed one question per reporter. The journalists came from the Anchorage Daily News, KTVA-Channel 11 and KTUU-Channel 2. No follow-ups were allowed.

The call can be heard HERE.

"Well, I???m very very pleased to be cleared of any legal wrongdoing," Palin said, "any hint of any kind of unethical activity there. Very pleased to be cleared of any of that."

        That's just not the case.

One can make the argument, as Palin and her allies have tried to do, that this investigation -- launched by a bipartisan Republican-controlled legislative body -- was somehow a partisan Democratic witch hunt, but one cannot honestly make the argument that the report concluded that Palin was "cleared of any legal wrongdoing" or "any hint of unethical activity."

The investigator did conclude that Palin's firing of Monegan was within her power, that "although Walt Monegan's refusal to fire Trooper Wooten was not the sole reason he was fired by Governor Sarah Palin, it was likely a contributing factor to his termination as Commissioner of Public Safety. In spite of that, Governor Palin's firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads."

But it finds that Palin "knowingly, as that term is defined in ... statutes, permitted Todd Palin to use the Governor's office and the resources of the Governor's office, including access to state employees, to continue to contact subordinate state employees in an effort to find some way to get Trooper Wooten fired. Her conduct violated AS 39.52.110(a) of the Ethics Act..."

The report states: "I find that Governor Sarah Palin Abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act ... Compliance with the code of ethics is not optional...

"The evidence supports the conclusion that Governor Palin, at the least, engaged in 'official action' by her inaction if not her active participation or assistance to her husband in attempting to get Trooper Wooten fired [and there is evidence of her active participation.] She knowingly, as that term is defined in the above cited statutes, permitted Todd Palin to use the Governor???s office and the resources of the Governor???s office, including access to state employees, to continue to contact subordinate state employees in an effort to find some way to get Trooper Wooten fired. Her conduct violated AS 39.52.110(a) of the Ethics Act...

"Governor Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda."

People are complete hypocrites. They say the hate negative ads but the ads actually work. Despite the "outrage," McCain's numbers improved while he was going after Ayers. Ask people if they like the National Enquirer and they would say no -- but the paper has been around for decades, making millions of dollars from a public fatally attracted to sleeze. http://dissentingjustice.blogspot.com/2008/10/keating-and-ayers-campaigns-go-postal.html
