I agree its bad and getting worse but I also know that not one party di this that the problems we are having go back to the clinton years.....the goverment wanted everyone to have a house and that nice i want everyone to have one but they could not pay the notes now here we are....now i am blaming anyone but the bsh guys had a huge hand in this they where supose to be watching lenders ect not playing golf with them...but senator DOD and barry franks had a huge hand in it....I thinkit funny that people think switching parties is going to help well I ahve news there all bought and paid for they all have poeple that pull the strings its sad that we have a bunch of rich guys running are country and have you noticed that both parties the guys come in worth nothing and retire worth millions Iahve always wondered about that.....I hate both parties I think there both criminals for what they have allowed to happen to are country shame on them all.....

If most economists give a formal definition of a recession as two consecutive quarters of reduced production of goods & services (or, :economic contraction"), than the only objective way we can establish which recessions are also depressions would be to add a new formal definition. But, I would rather see it left a subjective thing, as to exactly how bad a recession has to be to be labeled a depression.

Hi Scott ... last time as I see MSNBC put a meringue pie recipe in place of Newsweek... That's got to hurt the cause. Stupid on their part!

  • Posted By: Lady Marion @ 10/17/2008 12:23:26 PM

Don't you all agree that Newsweek should redesign their internet pages so we all canedit and see what we wrote. Out typos are huge - what is this 2 point type and how much pica space?

I pay 2400 a year but I am single and in good heath and young.....well I do not think the goverment should be giving even 5000 tax break...untill the goverment puts caps on what hospital charges it going to be alot to have it.....tahts the key I had knee surgery 1 year ago and I look at the bill and it was nuts.....12 for a pain pill same brand as you buy off the shelf and 22.50 for bandag every day....15 a meal for food that is something you would get at a school lunch room and 18000 grand for the surgery that took 1 hour that the problem.

okay cowdog...well said.....Health Care should have been socialized back in the 60's when the boomers were protesting .....everything....in the late 60's I lost my job because I protested against the Vietnam War. I believe then as I do now that this war and that war are/was wrong! Shame on BUSH! .

thats a tax break(lady marion) look as nice as it would be to ahve this perfect country where everyone is insured would be awsome but there is not enough money to pay for it....one thing we could do is not let the hospitals screw us that wopuld bring down costs....12 bucks for a band aid....120 for bandage that is stealing if the goverment wants to do something they need to put cost controls on hospitals to bring down the price of healthcare....but this country is way to big to cover everyone....I pay for my own insurance if people would do what I do they could alo...stop buying new cars every 2 years that is a waist and stop buying 3 times the house you need.....and us ethat money like i do to buy insurance. and COWDOG totally agree with you on nationalizing oil comps.

  • Posted By: scotthockley @ 10/17/2008 12:01:38 PM

when obama taxes the oil companies who do you think there going to pass that tax on to????us they will raise the gas price.....when he taxes the corps who do you think is going to pay for that your going to pay for all these taxes at the store when you buy clothing and food that cost more because diesel that the trucks use to power there trucks cost more because of the tax and all good you buy will be higher.....taxes trickle down to us poor people also.....these people are not going to just pay the tax they will pass it on to youand I......its common sence.

If the US would nationalize three business units, the recession and national debt would end immediately:

    Oil Companies

    Health Care

    Wal-Mart

    end.

Okay PRVNESS, where are you getting your info from? I agree the war in Iraq is a bummer ... to say the least...
And Scott ... the rebate is coming from McCain!!!!! He said so to the public on TV the other night!

  • Posted By: Cowdog1 @ 10/17/2008 11:56:25 AM

The United States should Nationalize three business units and the national debt and recession would vaporize overnight:

    Oil Companies

    Health Care

    Wal-Mart

  • Posted By: PRVNess @ 10/17/2008 11:46:00 AM

Does Scott realize that not one of the numbers he is throwing around is true, or that not one of the things he's saying about Obama is true? Oh, and Lady Marion, it is TEN billion a month we are pouring down the rathole in Iraq; you were off a bit...
