If you want to help the US. Hound you governemnt officials until you make them crazy!!!!! For example Suozzi, Nassau County Executive has a budget which he says and I quote, "I am proud of my 7 million dollarr budget, bla, bla" He is increasing our property tax, our school tax, and our sales tax. He is going to run the last business out of Long Island. Anyone who gives himself a $600,000 increase in salary without the permission of the people should be tarred and feathered and run out of this country.

Finding blame is not a solution. We *should* have educated, responsible, intelligent leaders. But we, the people, should be intelligent, informed, educated and responsible too.
The groundswell of a flailing economy began at the local level this time, IMHO. People 'wanted' more than they could realistically afford; money was made available with marginal scrutiny by lenders...and people 'signed' for that which was beyond their means. Flat job growth along with flat pay has merely made the problems more intense; reality was there for consumers when they sign though---no one *makes* you buy something you can't afford. We can complain all that we want to about these times; but economic peaks and valleys have always been cyclical.
Committing to 'buy' more than we can afford to pay for in our 'reasonable' lifetime is hardly reflective of intelligence or intense responsibility.

G.W.Bush may have lowered taxes but he spent like a drunken sailor through a surplus the country had at the time of his taking office and blindly spent trillions which has driven the USA into a quagmire. Raising taxes or lowering taxes really does not matter as much to our economy as does the primary factor of how that tax money is used. If it is spent wastefully on bridges to nowhere and wars with no plan or direction. Then lowering taxes or raising them is of no consequence. How our taxes are used is the key... One president after the other has talked about our dependence on foreign oil and how our money is leaving the country. Well if we took the money spent on the Iraq war on developing new green technologies we would be independent of foreign oil already. Then we could have the money flowing throughout our econonmy and not out of the country. So taxes are just a small part of the picture. How they are spent is the big picture. If they are spent to improve the quality of life for our citizens like improved healthcare, better roadways, better educational opportunities for our citizens, better homeland security, better energy sources .. then go ahead a raise my taxes. If you want to pay less you will have less . It is simple... you can eat a hamburger in Wendys for a dollar or two or you can pay alot more and have a quality steak or fish dinner in a steakhouse. You want the Steak you pay more. You want fast food with less nutritional value go to Wendys or MacDonalds or Burger King. Your choice.... More of the same with John McCain or a shot at a better overall future with Obama.
Look at what the leadership policies of GWB have done for us. Don't blame the teachers when a school is bad. Blame the principle as he is the one in charge of monitoring their performance and making the judgement calls as to who is doing a good job and who is not by looking at the perfomance levels of the students the teachers are incharge of educating. GWB was at the top spot. His job is to oversee and monitor the performance of the two houses that make our laws. He has the power to veto, to take issues to the people, to take charge. This was not done.... and under McCain you will see the same.

Who are we as a people? Wealthy top people, in an effort to get bigger bonuses and benefits (pork), are willing to take this where ever they can get it, including from the people who earn it for them by decreasing benefits and pensions. They say that it's our fault because we do not have that masters degree behind our name. In "Utopia" someone still needs to sweep the floor, manufacture the goods and provide food. These people deserve a living wage too. We already have class war.
While I don't think the president can change the greed of the wealthy, I would rather vote for Obama, since he came from the same side of the fence as the majority.

My father grew up in Minnesota during the depression years as he was born in 1922. His father lost his farmhouse and land to the banks. My grandparents and their five children were forced to move further north into a shack which had dirt floors. My grandfather found work in the iron mines and times were hard. The hardships experienced by y father haunted him until the day he died. As a Ronald Reagan said one mans recession is anothers depression. Presently in this economic predicament, there are families living in tent cities, trailer parks, in their cars and many homeless people living on the streets in our self proclaimed great cities. We as American need to get our eyes focused on what is happening in our country. Before we get ourself into fighting wars for other people in the middle east and elsewhere. We need to clean up our own house and make this land a home for all of our people. The best way to lead is by example. Before you start feeding other people be sure to feed your family..... Then when your foundation is set and secure you can begin to get charitable with your surplus.
America Wake Up.... Take care of your children first...!!!

Republican battle cry: "The Democrats are going to tax us and spend us right into the poor house with all of their social programs".
Fact: This country was 280 Billion in debt at the end of the period from George Washington to Jimmy Carter.
4.5 Trillion we picked up with Ronald Reagan and Bush senior. Surplus under Clinton and then under George W Bush we are at 10.3 Trillion(at least with Reagan he left a decent economy though not 4 trillion worth)...So....When you talk taxation keep in mind the difference between Democrat and Republican administrations is The Democrats tell you when you are being taxed and use it for your benefit. The Republicans print a great deal of money to pass around to themselves and their friends and leave it for the taxpayer to pay for when they are long gone with the cash.. Keep that in ming the next time someone telss you the Democrats are spending all our money and just want to tax us into the poorhouse..We are already there in spades and under a republican administration..OH! Yes, there has been a Democratic congress for a year and a half but only a slight majority.. Isn't it funny when it comes to todays problems the current administration wants to blame it on either the new congress or on anouther day they decide it is Clintons fault because they haven't been in office long enough for it to be their fault..So..Which is it? New problems? Old problems in fruition? How far back shoud Bush go when blaming others? Maybe...It's Teddy Roosevelt's fault.. Zachary Taylor maybe? Man up and stop acting like a 5 year old blaming everyone else. I know!!! He is trying to make all our lives awful so when his Mother Barbara Bush says things like she said after Katrina that she didn't see why there was such a fuss because they were better off at the superdome than they were before the hurricane(no basic facilities, no food, no water,no restrooms no air, nowhere to put the dying and dead children,etc...) She will be absolutely right.. Or would that be "let them eat cake"?....

2008 is only the begining of the "Prophecy of Doom". Nostradamus (1503-1566) was an French apothecary who was 96% accurate in his ability to fore see and predict the future(500 Years ahead of his time). In his last quatrain he predicted that between 2008-2012 would be the start of the end of civilization. He fore seen the down fall of Western countries through various events leading up to World War lll (A Nuclear War) by 2012, which will start in the Middle East. With the problems we are having in the current economic mess, this could be the first sign.

Supply side economics only works for the very rich. We had increased numbers of poor and homeless people when Ronnie and Bush 1 were president, so you can sing their praises all you want, but I remember Nancy Reagan worrying about the chipped china in the white house when people didn't have food to put on a paper plate. Obama's centrist policies will be far superior to another Reagan/Bush clone.
