Comment: Hillary Clinton has said Obama is not qualified.
The last two term president from the democratic party, Bill Clingont, has said Obama is not qualified.
Obama's own running mate, Joe Biden, has said Obama is not qualified.

Are you saying that all the leaders of the Democratic Party are just opportunistic liars? Either they are liars, or , as leaders of the Democratic Party, we should believe them.

So which is it? Are the Democrats liars, or is Obama, as they have said, not qualified?

As the story goes, McCain has now invited Joe the Plumber to join the campaign tour even though McCain knows that none of 'facts' he tries to use about Joe are true: Joe only makes about $42k / year; Joe isn't anywhere near being able to buy the business; Joe would be better off under Obama's tax plan; and Joe is currently in trouble with the IRS for unpaid back taxes. Regrettably it is not uncommon to see a measure of negativity and even questionable integrity and some dishonesty in presidential campaigns but I don???t think it has ever been as bad as we are seeing now. The ???swift boat??? attacks on John Kerry definitely fell into that category but they were almost mild compared to what the McCain-Palin camp is doing. Since Palin came on board she has demonstrated a total absence of any need to insure fact and appropriateness and has simply been caught several times, which she then just shrugs off; that may be due in part to her writers and their efforts to overcome her knowledge shortfall. While it does reflect heavily on her character it hasn???t been limited to her and as the numbers keep favoring Obama more, the whole McCain camp has become more desperate and while really neglecting the issues has become more negative and demonstrates less quality. They are digging for and using any dirt without regard for its pertinence or validity. Recently John McCain admitted that the attacks on Obama regarding Bill Ayers were really stretching things yet his campaign is now conducting automated phone calls referring to it as being a terrorist connection and implying it negatively impacts Obama. Anyone who saw the last debate has to know that Obama answered that accusation and then the ACORN accusation as well completely and reasonably with valid answers and then challenged McCain to deal with the real issues which are so important to the voters. McCain-Palin???s refusal to focus on the issues tells its own story and their continuing with the totally negative approach tells another story: first, they have no valid answers for accomplishing real change or any resolution of the problems; second, their negativity identifies their preferred way of handling things and even their personal character. It would be a terrible shame if McCain???s tactics work as we have just had one president who has been grossly dishonest, arrogant, self-indulgent, irresponsible, without conscience and totally focused on a private agenda for the benefit of a select few and we sure don???t need to follow with another one. Better said, we literally can???t take more of the same!

In the primaries, Romney and others said McCain would be poor president. So it seems everyone is opportunistic except Obama. I like your logic!

Men often vote from a sense of conviction but perhaps they are convinced it makes no difference to them as it won't change a thing. Biden brags about his role in the VAWA but it targets men even though it is clear violence is triggered almost equally by men or women in a domestic dispute. There are millions of disillusioned male voters. Further research may uncover why rather than just speculation.

Could the 12 million men be some of those who have been marginalized by family courts and have been separated from their children and money by bias. Could they be so disillusioned they have given up on a system they view as so unfair it doesn't deserve the effort.

Obama's view of the future of America - Socialism which is the next step to Communism!! He admitted to Joe the Plumber than he wanted to spread the wealth! He said that he wanted to make everyone equal! Is America ready for Socialism? The Iranian president, Ahmadinejad, said today that he is glad to see the end to capitalism in America!! Are you glad?????
    ====================================================================================================

Under socialism a ruling class of intellectuals, bureaucrats and social planners decide what people want or what is good for society and then use the coercive power of the State to regulate, tax, and redistribute the wealth of those who work for a living. In other words, socialism is a form of legalized theft.

The morality of socialism can be summed-up in two words: envy and self-sacrifice. Envy is the desire to not only possess another's wealth but also the desire to see another's wealth lowered to the level of one's own. Socialism's teaching on self-sacrifice was nicely summarized by two of its greatest defenders, Hermann Goering and Bennito Mussolini. The highest principle of Nazism (National Socialism), said Goering, is: "Common good comes before private good." Fascism, said
Mussolini, is "a life in which the individual, through the sacrifice of his own private interests??realizes that completely spiritual existence in which his value as a man lies."

Socialism is the social system which institutionalizes envy and self-sacrifice: It is the social system which uses compulsion and the organized violence of the State to expropriate wealth from the producer class for its redistribution to the parasitical class.

Despite the intellectuals' psychotic hatred of capitalism, it is the only moral and just social system.

Capitalism is the only moral system because it requires human beings to deal with one another as traders--that is, as free moral agents trading and selling goods and services on the basis of mutual consent.

Capitalism is the only just system because the sole criterion that determines the value of thing exchanged is the free, voluntary, universal judgement of the consumer. Coercion and fraud are anathema to the free-market system.

It is both moral and just because the degree to which man rises or falls in society is determined by the degree to which he uses his mind. Capitalism is the only social system that rewards merit, ability and achievement, regardless of one's birth or station in life.

    Yes, there are winners and losers in capitalism. The winners are those who are honest, industrious, thoughtful, prudent, frugal, responsible, disciplined, and efficient. The losers are those who are shiftless, lazy, imprudent, extravagant, negligent, impractical, and inefficient. [What about the role of luckbeing in the right place at the right time or the wrong place at the wrong time? R. R. Pope}

Jim Johnson, no matter how many times people tell you that Obama is against socialism, you keep posting these blogs that accuse Obama of socialism and communism. It is not true and you know it. You are just trying to smear Obama and make people afraid.

In his book Audacity of Hope, Obama writes at length about the FAILURE of SOCIALISM and the failure of communism. He enthusiastically states that American democracy is the greatest political system on earth. Obama is not a socialist, and he does not admire socialism.

To you, Jim, and to all of the conservatives out there who think that Obama is a flaming liberal, I would like to remind you of what he did when he was elected President of the Harvard Law Review. The Law Review President gets to name ten individuals to write articles for the Review, and these ten people also get to control the content of the publication. All of the minorities and the liberals thought they finally had it made, that Obama would appoint ten left wing editors. Instead, Obama appointed three conservatives, three liberals and four moderates. That year the Law Review was critically acclaimed as the best run and best written Harvard publication in decades.

So when he wins in November, conservatives don't have to freak out. Obama is a centrist and will appoint a balanced cabinet full of active people who will really get things done. Kind of like the way our multi-cultural society is supposed to be. And exactly what we need in this time of economic crisis.

    • Posted By: thetruth314 @ 10/18/2008 11:45:23 AM

The problem now is that the winners in our society tend to be "shiftless, lazy, imprudent, extravagant, negligent, impractical, and inefficient". And the losers tend to be "honest, industrious, thoughtful, prudent, frugal, responsible, disciplined, and efficient". We should try to maintain a free society where excellence is rewarded, but what we have now is a distinct class separation, with very little opportunity for class advancement. What happened to the middle class? It???s gone! What we have instead is a small group of the insanely wealthy, and a large number of workers in a slave caste.

Capitalism works, but it must be tweaked to keep businesses from taking advantage of workers. What???s going on now is that our government is absolutely controlled by the wealthy. Nobody wants to turn into a socialist state, but either we redistribute wealth or ultimately create a new government, because this one???s broken. It???s as simple as that.

Also, you???re actually talking about fascism, not socialism. Fascism is about self-sacrifice for the good of the nation. One could argue that Bush and other neo-conservatives have the most fascist tendencies of any major political group on the US. Fascists tend to persecute certain groups (in this case, gays or immigrants).

Socialism, on the other hand, tries to benefit each individual in a fair manner. It sounds better than what we have now, but we must be careful not to repress the creative spirit.

      • Posted By: CastilianG @ 10/18/2008 12:46:09 PM

Your last sentence is a wish, part of a dream and you know it! You cannot instill creativity unless rewards go along with it. You either have socialism without hope in an imperfect world full of leaders who sucumb to greed and avarice or you fawn over capitalisim in which the individual is driven to "success" at the expense of care for fellowman. THERE IS NO HOPE!

Don't worry, we'll be there on election day come hell or high water and those with an independent brain in their heads will NOT be voting along with the 'group think' voters. We may not be able to stop the impending National election disaster, but we can certainly try. McCain may not be the best that has ever run for President, but he certainly is a much better choice than his opposition.

I saw the exchange between Matthews and.GOP Republican Michelle Bachmann (MN). As a retired Army vet who votes Democratic, I was dismayed to find out that I am anti-American. Hmm. I guess that there's nothing for it but to move out of Palin's 'pro-America' part of the country, become a Islamo-facist terrorist and sign up for Communism.
Still, i can remember when this used to be the UNITED States of America. Good work Karl.

    THE GREAT BUSH DEPRESSION
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
He perfectly predicted the current meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen next
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide ,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch , Fanny and Freddy Mae ,AIG
The government took them over because they are bankrupt. Even with the goverment nationalizing hundreds of billions of dollars in debt the stock market is crashing
the credit markets are frozen and all of us may suffer beyond anything seen in generations
McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand how its been broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use quantum mathematical models very few people understand.
Bush and McCain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.
Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.
Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy. He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He was the last to know somthing was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime. Check out this link to the truth http://my.barackobama.com/keatingvideo
It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a budget surplus like Bush did but a crashing economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit. Most of it Bush created and it will take decades to pay it back.
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why are the polls even close then ?
Mccains team just said they no longer want to talk about the economy.Instead they would like to spend time talking about obama
which means running the biggest smear campaign in history.
They think they can just tell you lies and you wont be smart enough to see through it
Let's teach him we are smarter than that
Stand up and hold them accountable
Bush isn't on the ballot this year but his policies are
    Elect Obama Biden 2008

Let Obama keep his pro-government, pro-tax slaves, let free men join together to form a European-American Homeland on The North American Continent, where the US debt will be repudiated, we will claim our lands back from the US government, we will restore the original US Constitution and Bill of Rights. Let Obama have the illiterate America-haters who want class warfare, we will walk away from his hate and form an independent homeland where we will be free from the judge-Hitlers, free of the nanny-state marxists. free of the Demo-commie-crats and the collaborationist Republicrats. Freedom now!

My grandfather lived by a certain creed, and for him that creed was to have honor and character. He raised me to the man I am today and I now live by that same creed. have honor and character. This year in late Feb, on a cold night we lost him to cancer, so somewhere up in the heavans I know their's a man with character looking down at me. Now we have a candidate running for office with no character what so ever, a general public who is willing to put him in office and avoid the warning signs, and a candidate who have already said he will raise taxes on the one bright spot in our country and people still don't seem to care. Where is this guys character, where is America's character for doing such a terrible thing. Once these warning signs begin to take place I really hope the people that have voted for Obama begin to feel the punch. Personally I have been able to see this man and all that he stands for and I SEE NO CHARACTER. I miss my grandfather more then anyone can imagine, but I am glad he is not here to see a man with no Character in the White House.

Of course, this piece of propaganda is designed to solicit negative comments to discourage even more men from voting , because the marxists here at Newsweek know that males will not vote for commie-Bama in nearly the same numbers that stooge women will. Women prefer slavery with false comfort over freedom with risk.

This government is illegitimate and the political class is my enemy. These elections are a sham. My vote has already been stolen multiple times by leaf-blowing invaders and slimy little college commies. I won't participate in fraudulent elections.

I'm a male voter who hasn't voted in decades. I'm waiting for a candidate who isn't a liberal fascist . Neither party has one. Women have turned our political system into an absolute nanny state. They are so stupid, falling for the idea that the government can solve problems. The government perpetuates problems. The government is my mortal enemy. My goal is to stop paying taxes to support this liberal fascist regime. I want a European-American Homeland on the North American Continent. Repudiate the US debt and start over. Restore the original Constitution. The liberal fascists of both parties have borrowed us into slavery - we will soon turn into Argentina - and we have a ready-made Eva Peron in the wings. Freedom now!

The Vanishing Male Voter. The reason is simple. It does not matter who is elected! Instead of doing the right thing, all the politicians do is figure out what they should do to get re-elected.

By now, all members of Congress should have figured out the negative effects of so many things and fixed the problems. But instead, they continue to take and take and take especially from the middle class.

Perhaps the final straw was the conduct of the current Bush administration. They turned out to be the biggest takers of all. How many trillions do our grandchildren owe now?

I just want them all to get out of our lives. I would love to go to sleep every night knowing that I do not owe any taxes. I would love to have big companies not have tax advantages that drive jobs overseas. I would love to stop hearing about our dependence on oil - because we became independent of oil.

I would love to go on vacation each year. I haven't been able to go on vacation since the dot-com bust.

There are so many things I miss that I used to be able to afford to do.

I would love for my wife to tell me she loves me once again. Instead we avoid interaction because we will just get into a money argument.

Voting only decides whose hands will go into my pockets next. It does not matter which party wins. They only want to take more. More that I simply do not have. My house may soon be gone next.

When will this madness end? When will math and science really become important again? When will space become important again? When will real computer jobs return? When will we again do massive science jobs with urgency? When will we build the next generation of Interstate transportation?

We just don't do anything anymore. We keep wanting to take, take, take but the middle class has pretty much been taken to the cleaners once too often.

because as a republican in such a largely democratic state, or vise verse for that matter, my vote does not matter. The outcome has already been written in the books. Time to get rid of the Electoral College and go to a popular vote for the presidency.

I'm sure ACORN will re- register you in any state you please

      • Posted By: Omaar @ 10/18/2008 2:29:51 AM

McCain is a [Acorn Man] and other Republicans too !!!

40% of Acorn's Registered Voters have been [Republicans]

        Hahahaha !!

On Monday, the Democratic-leaning group ACORN, which has been painted as a criminal enterprise by the GOP for its voter registration and housing policy efforts, pushed back against its critics by producing a photo of John McCain attending its March 2006 rally.

It was a reminder that, for all their electoral histrionics, Republicans have aligned themselves with ACORN in the past.

Indeed, in addition to the McCain photo, there is a host of examples of prominent McCain surrogates attending ACORN events, signing ACORN legislation, or complimenting the group's efforts.

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, for example, partnered with ACORN in March 2008 for a "Homeownership Promotes The Economy" taskforce. More recently, Crist declared that -- contrary to GOP outrage -- he was not upset with the group's voter registration efforts in his state. The New York Times reported that ACORN supported a law signed by Governor Crist, which "changed the rules last year to restore the voting rights of about 112,000 former convicts."

In July 2005, meanwhile, another Republican governor, Rick Perry of Texas, signed ACORN's Lending Law Reform Bill that changed the state's homelending practices.

In July 2008, California Governor and McCain supporter Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a bill that ACORN helped draft aimed at California homeowners facing foreclosure.

In June 2007, Minnesota Governor and McCain VP short-lister Tim Pawlenty signed a similar bill -- drafted by ACORN -- that helped homeowners get fairer deals on their mortgages.

"The legislation was drafted according to recommendations made by a predatory lending study group established by Swanson prior to the legislative session," wrote the Northwestern Financial Review. "The study group contained representatives from the banking industry and the mortgage brokers association, as well as consumer advocates from organizations such as Illegal Aid and ACORN."

As Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney signed an anti-predatory lending bill that ACORN supported. In February 2006, Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman met with the ACORN Katrina Survivors Association. And back in July 2005, New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg actually got a kiss from ACORN's state leader, according to the publication City Limits, during an announcement that the city would protect or create 65,000 affordable units in a new housing proposal. Bloomberg, it should be noted, has not endorsed a candidate.

I have recently discovered that Snopes.com is owned by a flaming liberal and this man is 100% for Obama. There are many things they have listed on their site as a hoax and yet you can go to Youtube yourself and find the video of Obama actually saying these things. So you see, you cannot and should not trust Snopes.com....ever for anything that remotely resembles truth! I am not even sure I trust them to tell me if email chains are hoaxes anymore.

A few people on Myspace told me about snopes.com a few months ago and I finally took it upon myself to do a little research to find out if it was true. Well, I found out for myself that it is true. This website is backing Obama and is covering up for him. They will say anything that makes him look bad is a hoax, and they also tell lies on the other side about McCain and Palin.

Anyway just FYI please be aware of Snopes.com as a political source for fact finding, and make sure your friends are aware of their political leanings as well. Many people still think Snopes.com is neutral and they can be trusted as factual. Well that is not exactly the truth. We need to make sure everyone is aware of that.
