Now, if Cose can just tell us how Letterman gave Obama "a proper grilling," I'll start believing that elephants can fly.

Letterman remains the single most obnoxious, unfunny, self-important individual in the American entertainment industry. He plays relentless softball with Democrats and nothing but hardball with Republicans. That's "journalism" for Cose.

Pathetic. As your circulation figures sink like a rock, keep in mind that readers like me once paid you real cash to read your magazine every week. Now I simply show up now and then to see how low you've sunk.

Obama in this video, addressing his work with ACORN litigation relating to the community reinvestment act and the failure of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, as they relate to the current real estate and financial crisis, states that, and I quote:

"Subprime lending started out as a good idea, helping Americans buy homes who previously could not afford to. Financial institutions created new financial instruments that could securitize these loans, slice them into finer and finer risk categories, and spread them out among investors and around the country, as well as around the world. In theory, this should have allowed mortgage lending to be less risky, and more diversified."

    He further states:

"The original idea was a good one, which was, lets see if we can distribute risk more broadly, and make it easier to provide loans to people who otherwise might not be able to get one."

Listen for yourself. You cannot dispute the mans on words recorded live:

Obama in this second video is campaigning at a convention of Acorn and I believe two other "Community Activist" organizations. Ask if he will be their ally if he becomes President, Obama says, quote:

"Yes, but let me say that before I even get inaugurated, during the transition we are going to be calling all of you in to help us shape the agenda. We're going to be having meetings all across the country with community organizations so that you have input into the agenda for the next presidency of the United States of America."

See and hear it for yourself. Obama promised that Acorn and other groups like it will setting his agenda if elected:

Democrats were not targeted, as the were all in the tank with Fannie and Freddie to kill the regulations. Hear that, the article admits that Republicans were trying to regulate Freddie and Fannie, and Democrats were trying to stop it from happening as a means to facilitate the Community Reinvestment Act.

FactCheck.Org is owned by the Annenberg group of Chicago! Talk about a conflict of interest! And Obama has been telling people on the trail to check out the site to verify his opponents claims. Funny, every time that he endorsed something, it turns out to be a part of his spin machine! Like he raised objections in the primaries when Indiana required photo I.D. to vote. He Protested that It took away people's right to vote! I
knew then and there that he was up to no good! America, wake up from the MASS HYPNOSIS!

After 9/11, the US government started rounding up Muslims without cause and without due process of law, like we did to the Japanese Americans in WWII. The Bush administration called it's main internment camp Guantanamo Bay. While there are certainly many guilty terrorists held in Guantanamo, there are also many innocent American citizens who have been held illegally for years without even being charged with any crime. They have been tortured by our government. Some of them have died.

Recently the Supreme Court ruled against the Bush administration in the matter of Guantanamo Bay. The Supreme Court Justices were NOT on the side of the terrorists. They were on the side of the Geneva Convention, that says you can not torture POWs, and on the side of US laws that state you can not imprison a person without charging them with a crime and bringing them to trial. I'm sure that like most Americans, the Justices who voted against the illegal, immoral doings at Guantanamo didn't feel sympathy for the terrorists. They felt sympathy for the laws of AMERICA, the land of the FREE, where even rat finks get a fair trial.

Meanwhile, back in Iraq, the Bush administration is busy trying to build a smokescreen to hide the CRIMES they have committed. Those pesky weapons of mass destruction. Just think, the National Debt went up over 6 trillion dollars under Bush. More than 2 TRILLION of it went directly into the pockets of Halliburton, a corporation owned by the Cheney family. Halliburton is now a DUBAI corporation and therefore is not subject to US taxes. All that money they took out of the US Treasury is going into the coffers of a MUSLIM country.

Did you hear about how the US government is being charged millions for Halliburton deliveries of sand into Iraq from Kuwait? Sand. Like there is a shortage of sand in Iraq? Another contractor shipped sand from Idaho to Iraq at our expense. Nobel prize winning economist Joseph Stiglitz discusses these and other excesses of our current government's out of control spending in Iraq.

Your grandchildren will be working like slaves to pay off this debt, so that the Bushes and Cheneys can live the high life in Dubai.

Yeah, they're patriots, Bush&Co. They wear flag pins. And hide the money they stole from America in Dubai.

And they want me to believe that Obama is a socialist. Right.

In case you think McCain is any different than Bush, watch this:

If you want to find ONE person responsible for the economic collapse, that would be Republican Senator Phil Gramm.

After the great crash of 1929, our government realized that the Depression had been caused primary by the fact that banks and investment companies were owned by the same corporations. When the stock market failed, so did the banks. Law were written that mandated the separation of banking, investment companies, insurance companies and mortgage guaranty companies. This created a fire wall so that if one sector of the economy failed, the entire system would not collapse.

Phil Gramm wrote legislation (the Gramm Rudman Act, the Gramm Leach Biley Act, etc.) that stripped away the regulations in the financial and insurance industies. He pushed them through the Republican Congress and they were signed into law by Geo. W. Bush. John McCain voted in favor. Everybody said how great it is to deregulate and create free markets.

Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns and Merrill Lynch each gave over a million dollars to Senator Gramm's re-election campaign.

The economic collapse that happened later was a direct result of the deregulation. You like to blame the collapse on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, but that is just not true. Firstly, Fannie and Freddie DID NOT originate those bad mortgages. They bought them from investment banks who had bundled them into securities that looked good but were rotten at the core. Fannie and Freddie got screwed by the Wall Street fat cats. And so did you, if you pay taxes.

Furthermore, even if the real estate industry went to hell in a handbasket it wouldn't have hurt the banks and stock market unless they had been guilty of passing off all of this bad paper, not only to Fannie and Freddie, but to investors al over the world, ensuring that the meltdown would be global in scale.

What is Phil Gramm doing today? He works as a lobbyist in Washington, trying to make it legal for the Swiss bank he represents to sell Death Bonds in the United States.

Nice guy, Phil Gramm. He gets my vote as the first one to put in jail under your totalitarian rule, Jim Johnson.

        Nins-com-poop -

Ever hear of the Community Reinvestment Act of 1977? Promoted and put into place by a then Democrat congress and signed into law by our worst President in history, Jimmy Carter. Today's credit collapse is a result of this nonsensical bit of social engineering that stood long-accepted banking practices on their head.

Maybe they didn't cover this during your training at moveon.org?

If Mr. Letterman were a real journalist he would have been seeking an answer to a completely different set of questions. We can hold Mr. Letterman blameless because he is a comedian, not a journalist, and the question he missed is no laughing matter. Here is the real question. How is it that William Ayers, an unrepentant terrorist, is teaching teachers to teach at a major university in the United States? What are the connections between Mr. Ayers and Acorn? What effect has Mr. Ayers had on our education system?

Here's an even more important question. Why aren't the people being paid to do the work of journalists asking these questions? I fear that the answer is that they already know the answers and not only do they not care, they are not overly eager to reveal those answers to the American public.

Does anyone really take Letterman seriously? I have never really cared for his type of humor. When Obama says of Ayers that "I was eight years old when Mr. Ayers was caring out his dispicable acts." What does that have to do about it. Obama wasn't eight years old when he was Ayers' living room kicking off his political career. During the debate when Mr. McCain called Ayers "a washed up terrorist" Obama put "lipstick on a pig" by calling him Mr. Ayers and saying that Ayers was a professor of education. And yes lipstick on a pig is a tired cliche.

Hell Yeah, i take him Seriously, when he's being Serious....

An he was Serious, especially when he asked Mccain about palling around with National Terrorist, G.Godron Liddy.

McCain's a Big Old Dope and he should concede and Move to Florida or Arizona to Retire.

    • Posted By: Omaar @ 10/18/2008 9:52:57 AM

      G. Gordon Liddy...A!! Hole !!

McCain's Presidential Transition Head was a [Lobbyist for Saddam Hussein and Iraq]

Mccain's Campaign Mgr, is a Lobbyist for Freddie & Fannie Mac.

McCain and his Surrogates passed Laws Sponsored and Supported by [Acorn]

McCain was at a [Acorn Rally In 2006] Google A!! Hole !!! Research

General Patraeus: Says that he does not think, He'll ever use the Term [Victory] when Describing Iraq.

McCain said that Obama was Un-Patriotic for not using the Term [Victory]

Question: Is Gen. Patraeus a Un-Patriotic General, as McCain has Described Obama ?

General Patraeus has also stated, "The Iraq War is not a [Victory Slogan] and that its not like taking a Hill, planting a Flag and coming Home to a Victory Parade"

i Guess Patraeus & Barack Obama know something that John McCain, does not, about the ongoing War in Iraq..Huh

Anyway, The Iraq War is coming to an END and it will be signed by President Bush and Maliki, for our Troops Exit in [2011]

The Time Horizon of Withdrawal is in Line with Barack Obama's Timeline of Withdrawal.

McCain is Too Damn Old...Period an out of Touch.

There has not been too much in the news regarding this Letterman interview. But it needs to be seen by more people. This is one of the best interviews I've ever seen. It reminds me of Jon Stewart's honest seeking, common sense dealings with politicians. I never thought Letterman to be funny, but I have a whole new respect for him. A MUST SEE.

McCain has sold his soul to the devil with this campaign. I'm shocked and angry to hear his latest "sell-off" was hiring the same campaign strategist that smeared him when he ran against Bush. Meanwhile "joe the Plumber" doesn't even have his plumbing license and no one woill give him a loan in this tightened economy when he has a lien for back taxes on his house!
Obama's comments of "spreading the wealth" were completely taken out of context while he pointed out that Joe the Bogus Plumber's taxes would only increase 3%.

    • Posted By: beanhead54 @ 10/18/2008 10:03:11 PM

So.... Out of context on the "Spreading" comment, no relation beyond "neighbors" to Ayers, no problem with ACORN's activities, never had anything to do with the "Redlining" suits in Chicago, not the Wright I knew for 20 years, bonehead move with Rezko...

What other hook do you folk want everyone to swallow so you can push your candidate into the WH?

Just wait...If Obama gets in, make sure you are still on his side when he falls from grace...Proudly proclaim that you voted for him and all his wonderful ideas that REALLY wont benefit you......Dont forget to rally around him when our troops really dont come home...Just sent to Afghanistan..But he wont tell you that right now..Remember to praise him when you fill out your taxes next year and you dont have the breaks he promised you...And most of all remember the screen name OBSERVER101 if these things happen, because I told you so...But McCain will get in..No Prob..McCain/Palin 08'
