A socialist agenda to redistribute wealth for the sake of families living on the fringe is no reason for Catholic support. It is in fact at odds with it. Government redistribution of wealth is done in a secular manner with no expectations of the recepients. Recepients become dependent as a result and have no reason to lift themselves up. It is far better for society to care for itself. As Thomas Paine said, "society is good, government is bad". Society should redistribute wealth through charitable giving through churches and other private organizations. When this done it happens with good example and comes along with expectations and teaching. It gives hope and inspiration to those who live on the fringe and it is done with better efficiency and far less corruption. When churches support socialism for this purpose they become their own worse enemy as it only increases dependency, secularism and aethism. We don't need the government to give away money. Private society can do it far better and in a manner that is more healthy for itself. Secularists who prefer to have a nanny state that takes care of everyone and the world hate this notion. God forbid - the spread of religion and faith in God through the charitable works of society is such a terrible thing! How can you expect such minds to even begin to understand pro-life! Love of life and charity is mankind's only real hope not the socialist state which history has repeatedly demonstarted is destined to failure. Anyone ever hear of the USSR?

It is a pretty CLEAR STATEMENT that YOU CANNOT HAVE IT BOTH WAYS...you cannot be a Catholic and say that in TRUTH, when you are voting for Osama and his ideas that abortions should be available to everyone at ay stage of the pregnancy....Partial birth abortion is BRUTAL AND INHUMANE..BUT, to make it just that much worse, he endorses a bill that DEMANDS that attending physicians at the abortion, have their hands tied, (by the government) when that child is born alive and viable..that doctor has to sit back and allow that child to die by NEGLECT...clearing the airways and essentially "snuffing that life out"...THE POPE condems abortion, it has been the Catholic doctrine forever....so, what makes Osama's view change the CATHOLIC
    mind???? McCain/Palin '08

I've heard this back and fourth about abortion my whole life, and I've never understood why this is an issue. Calling an acorn an oak tree does not make it one. Calling a zygote a child does not make it one.

Have you ever seen the films of an unborn child? You can see two feet, two arms with hands, a face and a body, moving, too. This child is breathing, kicking, alive!! Do you now understand that abortion kills a living child, yet still waiting to be let out and live among us all.

Here's another example of the liberal press attempting to brainwash Catholics into believing that it is all right to believe in abortion or to support a candidate who supports abortion. Now you are telling Catholics how to follow their faith. You press people have gone way, way, way over the line of decency.

The notion that somehow (even in a roundabout way) Obama is the more pro-life candidate is stunningly irresponsible and patently false. Obama's words and actions on the issue have consistently furthered rather than hindered access to abortion. His promise to sign Freedom of Choice act into law is a glaring example, which would outlaw any state regulation of abortion whatsoever, and force our tax dollars to fund abortions, among other things. His record is listed here: http://theologica.blogspot.com/2008/10/what-is-freedom-of-choice-act.html Be informed.
