I just got my Nov. 3 edition of Newsweek (Int'l) today and I thought there would be an apology and/or correction. But there wasn't. I am referring to page 5 of the Oct. 27 issue. The picture does NOT show Prime Minister of Japan with President Bush, et al. That is Shoichi Nakagawa, the Minister of Finance as well as the Minister of State for Financial Services. I and surprised that no one else noticed it. Maybe you don't care who the Prime Minister of Japan?

Dear Mr. Meacham: Could you please try a little bit harder to convince me? Did you realize as you were writing it just how lame your argument was? Charles Krauthammer made me laugh more when he helped recall the "rather be right than elected" seventies. Whistling past the graveyard seems a bit undignified for a previously esteemed editor of a national news-and-opinion ragazine. Alternet put me onto your blusterfest, but I had to read it for myself. Unfreakin'believable. I can't really boycott any of your advertisers, since I wasn't throwing any money their way, anyhow. Here's hoping you recover some semblance of reality awareness, Sincerely yours, James W. Fountain

    Taxes:

-Those making between $250,000 and $400,000 annually will have less than $1,500 increase in their taxes. (These people are not complaining. Joe is not one of these people.)

-Those making more than $3 Million annually will pay only 23%.

This will PAY FOR the tax cuts given to the middle class.
This WILL NOT INCREASE THE DEFICIT!

    Calculate your taxcut: http://taxcut.barackobama.com/

    ...................

McCain has a Santa Clause approach to tax cutting. He wants to make cuts, but has not identified how it will be paid for. This will never pass Congress.

McCAIN'S TAX PLAN (or slogan) WILL WILL INCREASE THE DEFICIT!

    McCain has slogans not plans.

    RoboHate.

The McCain/Palin campaign is now combining our analog (or digital, cell) telephones with computers, and has produced RoboHate calls against his opponent, to enliven hatred wherever possible.

Hate is not good for the country. And McCain/Palin uses hatred too often. However, McCain/Palin stumbles grossly on unity.

This country needs unity in difficult times. Yes We Can. Obama/Biden is right for this country right now.

I am proud of the way Barack Obama has conducted his part of the campaign. He has had to consistently bring the conversation back to the issues, where McCain has consistently resorted to character attacks. Obama has answered the questions. He has said more clearly and with more courage, what his views and policies are and will be. I have never in my life time, seen a presidential candidate as capable as Obama. I have great hope for this country with people like Barack Obama running for office. I give him my full support.

The Republicans and Democrats have severely lowered the level of discourse in the election. Both sides are espousing streams of vague rhetoric and finger-pointing. I'm very disappointed, because I like(d) and admire(d) both Barack Obama and John McCain. I think they're capable of more and better.

During the vice presidential debate my 10 year old daughter asked, "Why won't they answer the questions?" Exactly.
