I agree with Obama and his policies towards spending too much money in Iraq. Obama thinks that there should be no more aid or supplies to those pethetic little people there. He said that we spend billions each month to these thankless rodents that crawl around like rats. Obama said that the billions spent there could be used here to rebuild strip clubs and hire skanky blondes to work at these adult entertaiment centers. Obama I like your views, and you will get my vote.

    THE GREAT BUSH DEPRESSION
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
He perfectly predicted the current meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen next
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide ,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch , Fanny and Freddy Mae ,AIG
The government took them over because they are bankrupt. Even with the goverment nationalizing hundreds of billions of dollars in debt the stock market is crashing
the credit markets are frozen and all of us may suffer beyond anything seen in generations
McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand how its been broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use quantum mathematical models very few people understand.
Bush and McCain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.
Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.
Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy. He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He was the last to know somthing was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime. It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a budget surplus like Bush did but a crashing economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit. Most of it Bush created and it will take decades to pay it back.
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why are the polls even close then ?
Mccains team just said they no longer want to talk about the economy.Instead they would like to spend time talking about obama

After 9/11, the US government started rounding up Muslims without cause and without due process of law, and put them in prison camps like we did to the Japanese Americans in WWII. The Bush administration called it's main internment camp Guantanamo Bay. While there are certainly many guilty terrorists held in Guantanamo, there are also many innocent American citizens who have been held illegally for years without even being charged with any crime. They have been tortured by our government. Some of them have died.

Recently the Supreme Court ruled against the Bush administration in the matter of Guantanamo Bay. The Supreme Court Justices were NOT on the side of the terrorists. They were on the side of the Geneva Convention, that says you can not torture POWs, and on the side of US laws that state you can not imprison a person without charging them with a crime and bringing them to trial. I'm sure that like most Americans, the Justices who voted against the illegal, immoral doings at Guantanamo didn't feel sympathy for the terrorists. They felt sympathy for the laws of AMERICA, the land of the FREE, where even rat finks get a fair trial.

Meanwhile, back in Iraq, the Bush administration is busy trying to build a smokescreen to hide the CRIMES they have committed. Those pesky weapons of mass destruction. Just think, the National Debt went up over 6 trillion dollars under Bush. More than 2 trillion of it went directly into the pockets of Halliburton, a corporation owned by the Cheney family. Halliburton is now a DUBAI corporation and therefore is not subject to US taxes. All that money they took out of the US Treasury is going into the coffers of a MUSLIM country.

Did you hear about how the US government is being charged millions for Halliburton deliveries of sand into Iraq from Kuwait? Sand. Like there is a shortage of sand in Iraq? Another contractor shipped sand from Idaho to Iraq at our expense. Nobel prize winning economist Joseph Stiglitz discusses these and other excesses of our current government's out of control spending in Iraq.

Your grandchildren will be working like slaves to pay off this debt, so that the Bushes and Cheneys can live the high life in Dubai.

Yeah, they're patriots, Bush&Co. They wear flag pins. And hide the money they stole from America in Dubai.

And they want me to believe that Obama is a socialist. Right.

In case you think McCain is any different than Bush, watch this:

I am voting for Obama because of his medical plan. He knows how to cut medical cost and not cover people of poverty. Obama sees himself as being perfect and above others. He could go pro-life but then go after the new borns or all of the people who are not perfect or pure as he. Obama would order those not perfect to be impaled, tortured, slow amputations to show everyone that this is the begining of the new order of the nation, and that it will be done by his laws. Yes, Obama has my vote for his veiws on how to cut medical costs.

WMD's. Yes there was those. My brother in law was there when two chemicals used to make WMD were found, There were warehouses full of the stuff, next to each other. But because they were not mixed together they were not considered WMD's. Didn't see that reported by hte liberial media. THis great nation once was oppressed by the British and other countries came to aid us in our time of need so that we may have out freedom. So why shouldn't we help a nation that was oppressed by a leader who practiced genocide. I guess it's tha Liberial attitude of "It's all about me, to hell with everyone else" I gusse when more terrorist come and knock on your front door you wount need any help from anyone. I mean with the great border protection we have that keeps all the "law obeying illegals out and all the drugs out of our country, theres no way a terrorist attack could happen again.

Its such a shame. By attacking Iraq, America has actually sent it back into the dark ages. No power, no doctors, no teachers, no sewage. All this for what? Not a single one of the 9/11 terrorists was from Iraq. 15 were from Saudi Arabia, USA's closest and dearest friend. If the US is so concerned about rogue regimes why not attack Zimbabwe, where people are suffering a fate worst than death? As for US soldiers, it is not enough to say - I was only following orders.

Itelge, "gun wielding illiterates" was referring to Muslim extremists, not US soldiers. While the US may never be able to declare victory in Iraq as Patreus said, it would be shameful if Iraq's infrastructure and health system don't return to pre US invasion integrity. We're all now asking, "how did we ever get into this mess?" but now we must ask, "how can we get out of this mess while not abandoning Iraq's well-being completely?"

What the Neocons have wrought is almost too terrible to contemplate. I'm a veteran and an Arabist. I read, write, and speak the language and have spent much time in the ME. Russell423 is typical of supporters of the invasion. Semantics are more important than Semites.

It's too late to get out now. We've destroyed a viable society--one that had many ugly sides, like torture, rendition, unlawful imprisonment, suspension of habeus corpus, warmongering, etc.--but still, a country comprised of human beings with the same desires as we.

Take our $10 billion a month war cost, cut in in half, use the balance to help Iraq rebuild, and get the soldiers home. We'd all prosper--left and right.

  • Posted By: ltclgc @ 10/20/2008 4:27:51 PM

What's WMD got to do with it? That's a moot point. Saddam murdered thousands of people; the evidence is real and undisputable. That fact alone is justification to me. I want to know how anyone who has not served in Iraq make comments on the actions of US soldiers? I've been on the receiving end of mortars and rockets so I know what war is like. Hate the war if you want but I take it personally when some coward makes snide or demeaning comments about soldiers.

    • Posted By: MChieco @ 10/20/2008 4:48:20 PM

We respect and admire the soldiers , we detest the politicans that needlessly put them in harms way..
We detest the privatate contractors making triple the money of our troops for doing the same job..
The same private contractors that do not have to follow military law, local law, or any law.

I can barely comprehend the ignorance of the majority of people in the Jewnited states. Who in the hell do think is resposible for the pathetic state of things in Iraq? A sovereign nation illegally invaded and occupied by the biggest bully on earth. An invasion and occupation based on lies, lies, lies and more lies. An innocent nation destroyed, millions displaced and tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians killed as a result. And what for? I'll tell you, because most of you are so ignorent you will nevetr get it on your own. Revenge (and not for the New York nosebleed), Isreal and Oil-in tha order. Wow, you-all must be proud!!!

Wouldn't a more appropriate title for the MSN homepage have been "Doctors Fled Iraq"? Oh wait, I guess that wouldn't get near as much reads as the current title of "Doctors Fleeing Iraq" which implies that there is a current crisis of doctors leaving instead of the truth that the crisis is in that they have already left. Give me a break and try some OBJECTIVITY once in a while instead of constantly leaning to the left.

  • Posted By: russell423 @ 10/20/2008 4:18:27 PM

Wouldn't a more appropriate title have been "The Doctors Have Fled Iraq". Oh wait, I guess that wouldn't get near as much press as insinuating that there is new crisis in Iraq and the current policies there aren't working. Please, Newsweek.....just try to be OBJECTIVE once in a while.

    Any WMD ?

  • Posted By: ltclgc @ 10/20/2008 4:16:21 PM

I'm curious. How many people who comment on Iraq have actually been there? I have and it's obvious that most do not have a clue of what they are talking about. And, for those of you who wish more soldiers would die .... stick your heads back in the pile of dung you pulled it out of!

    • Posted By: HartlessBeest @ 10/20/2008 5:17:25 PM

ltclgc: ???And, for those of you who wish more soldiers would die ....???
      = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = == = = =
It isn???t a question of who has, or who hasn???t been to Iraq. It is why the Hell did we end up there in the first place. There is no denial that this was an illegal invasion and occupation of a country based on false information which has resulted in the needless sacrificing of thousands of lives, destruction beyond imagination and it is the responsibility of the U.S. taxpayer to pay for the reparations.

Secondly, ltclgc, you dimwit, I am not aware of anyone in my immediate circle who wishes that more American soldiers would die. This is preposterous!! You need to put this question to your Idols, Cheney and Bush, and your ChickenHawk Republican friends who were cheerleading this despicable assault on Iraq.. :

Gun wielding illiterates best describes the welfare ho's that are US soldiers. It is a shame that more of them have not been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan for their crimes against humanity.

    • Posted By: ltclgc @ 10/20/2008 4:12:03 PM

So, you think all US Soldiers are gun-wielding illiterates? Where's your evidence? I suppose that wishing more soldiers would be killed makes you a saint? I suggest that you stick your head back into the pile of cow dung you pulled it from.

  • Posted By: sparkly @ 10/18/2008 3:48:02 PM

    Wow, Kaplow. Just, wow.

"Gun-wielding illiterates", nice. I can tell you're really trying to be objective here. We don't have to worry about the various motivations and potentially legitimate grievances that drive people in Iraq to resort to violence. No, they're just "gun-wielding illiterates". Barbarians, really. Barely human.

Iraq has a literacy rate higher than Egypt, and significantly higher than both India and Pakistan. Iraq has a national average IQ one point higher than Kuwait, three points higher than Iran, Jordan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and UAE, four points higher than Syria, five points higher than India and Lebanon, and six points higher than Egypt.

If violence is tied either to literacy or intelligence, we should expect all these other countries to have a greater proportion of "gun-wielding illiterates" than Iraq.
