Wow! That was pathetic! Is anyone listening! John McCain is the wrong man, for the wrong job, at the wrong time...so, let me get this straight, the right man for the right job at the right time is Obama! And how might that be? How is Obama more qualified than McCain? I mean, come on now....lets get serious here! These are tenuous and tumultuous times, and we need serious Leadership.

Are you people serious about entrusting the lives and security of the American people in the hands of a inexperienced 47 year old Community organizier. Lets take a quick peek and what Obama brings to the table and you tell me if this is who you want at the helm.... ACORN, Rev. Wright, Father Flager, Tony Rezko, William Ayers, Saul Alinsky, Hamas/Terrorist support and political contributions, the Communist Party of the USA support, Marxist/Socialist academic influences, his "spread the wealth" economic policies, etc....this is just to name a few, I can go on all night....

What do you get with John McCain.....26 years of Political experience, 22 years of military experience, life experience, family experience, working against his own party on important issues and instead siding with certain Democrats on important legislative issues, always putting his country first and he's got the scars to prove it....he's paid his dues! As JFK so eloquently put it, "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country"....and McCain has been doing that his entire career....

    This is a no brainer!

I find it hilarious that the quote you used came from JFK, a very young President that is beloved by the American people. Being older doesn't make you more experienced, intelligent, or qualified...it just makes you old.

      • Posted By: conservativevalues1 @ 10/21/2008 7:00:03 PM

summer4077 - > I find it hilarious that the quote you used came from JFK, a young President that is beloved by the American people< Why is that funny? As to JFK being young and beloved, I agree, but what's your point? Would it of meant less if he said it when he was older? If only he was....

        >Being older doesn't make you more experienced, intelligent, or qualified....it just makes you old<
So I guess you could say the same thing about being young, it makes you inexperienced, unintelligent and unqualified....

Let me guess, you are one of those small town people...am I correct? Obama is an "arab" crowd?? Go have a life!

      • Posted By: conservativevalues1 @ 10/21/2008 6:12:11 PM

Dadedi - Is that the best you can do? And you want me to get a life! My life to this point has been pretty damn good....born and raised in SOCAL! A killer wife, an awesome son with a third grandson on the way, running a successful business with my brother, able to surf on the weekends, and more importantly, I did it all with hard work, sound conservative values, and no whinning....

What's even more ridiculous, is how you came to the conclusion that I was from a small town and that I must be part of the "Obama is an Arab" crowd....was that an indictment on small town people? Your remark infers the same tone and message that Obama's remarks about how small town America clings to its guns and religion when things get difficult to a group of roaring San Francisco elite's....how presumptuous and naive you are sir!

So I'll ask the question again, how is Obama more qualified to lead this country than McCain? Please, thrill me with you acumen....

Remember, "an idle mind is the devils playground"

True, i wont question that John McCain has'nt served his country. But what i do question is his judgement, the same thing he keeps blabbering about all the time. His pick of Palin, energized the base but not America, you know why? Maybe you should watch Palin's debate and interviews to see if had any clue on what America requires. Maybe cramming the last minute on issues and repeating statements like a parrot does'nt help.

People question Obama as a Muslim, when Palin's remarks about America's patriotism lying small towns or "small pockets" of the country go unnoticed. She has the nerve to undermine patriotism in big cities when it's fact that she endorsed the Alaska Seccessionist group, which her husband was a part of few years ago.

I think there is a part of America that hasnt yet felt comfortable with Obama's heritage which was clear at McCain's rallies and if there was any better definiton of McCain's american dream, it's evident in Obama's story.
The reason McCain suspended his campaign is because few months ago in the primaries he himself admitted he didnt know much about the economy and needed time to swing whichever way Govt. went with the bailout.
I respect McCain for being honorable when his country called on him, but what's sad is he's used the same tactics by the same party that smeared him years ago. That's called pandering and it's negative.

      • Posted By: summer4077 @ 10/21/2008 8:54:10 AM

Couldn't agree with you more. I think Palin confuses patriotism with complacency--sheeple being quietly herded to their deaths. True patriotism is loving your country and accepting that it is not perfect--then working to change things for the better. This country has had many positive changes and will continue to do so under the progressive leadership of Obama.

I USED to be a Republican. That is until Dubya and his neocon knuckle draggers came mooching into the White House.

After eight years of the Bush debacle, I would have thought that the Republican party would have at least tried to redeem itself by presenting the American people with a candidate who would be capable some semblance of competent governance

I was wrong. Instead they give us an angry old geezer and his dim witted arm candy.

The old man, if he doesn't start world war three first, could kick off and leave us in the trembling hands of a religious nut who prefers a smile and a wink to discussing the real issues.

After watching her incoherent interviews and carefully staged debates, I have concluded that Palin is about as qualified to be president as Britney Spears is to be Pope. The rest of my Republican family feels the same way.

This is the second comment I'm responding to today. You've had me chuckling for a minute or two and guess what I AGREE with you 100%. Isn't the thought of these 2 enough to give nightmares? I saw her debate Biden and my respect for Republicans plummeted. Her selection was questionable and did not reflect well on Mc Cain.

I agree with you. I'm a Republican and I'm voting for Obama.

Interesting article, but you???ll never heard about it in the MSM.
HUGO CHAVEZ, COLUMBIAN LEFTIST REBELS, OBAMA AND DEMOCRATS, AND ROGUE URANIUM IN S. AMERICA
Interpol confirmed the authenticity of Raúl Reyes's computer files. Reyes was a top commander of Colombia's left-wing guerrillas the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (Farc) killed during a Colombian military operation in Granada, Putumayo, on March 1, 2008.

Here is a partial list of what Colombian investigators found on the FARC terror leader's computer:
-- FARC connections with Ecuadorean president Rafael Correa -- Records of $300 million offerings from Hugo Chavez -- Thank you notes from Hugo Chavez dating back to 1992 -- Uranium purchasing records -- Admit to killing the sister of former President Cesar Gaviria -- Admit to planting a 2003 car bomb killing 36 at a Bogota upper crust club -- Directions on how to make a Dirty Bomb -- Information that led to the discovery of 60 pounds of uranium -- Letter to Libya's Moammar Gadhafi asking for cash to buy surface-to-air missiles -- Meetings with "gringos" about Barack Obama -- Information on Russian illegal arms dealer Viktor Bout who was later captured -- FARC funding Correa's campaign -- Cuban links to FARC -- Links to US Democrats -- $480,000 of FARC cash in Costa Rican safe house -- $100,000 to President Correa's campaign for election
And you can draw your own conclusions as to the importance of this passage that was allegedly found on the seized laptops, now confirmed authentic by Interpol:
"The gringos will ask for an appointment with the minister to solicit him to communicate to us his interest in discussing these topics. They say that the new president of their country will be Obama and that they are interested in your compatriots. Obama will not support "Plan Colombia" nor will he sign the TLC (Colombian Free Trade agreement). Here we responded that we are interested in relations with all governments in equality of conditions and that in the case of the US it is required a public pronouncement expressing their interest in talking with the FARC given their eternal war against us."

I have always admired Mr. Zakeria's comments, whether in print or on television, as well thought out, articulate, and logical. I voted earlier today here in FL for Obama already, so his points here didn't cause my vote. However, I hope they will draw thousands more Americans to the light of reason. Like him, I fear not only for the future of my five children, but everyone else's as well as our country, if we do not radically change from the failed fiscal and international policies of the past eight years. We will not have to worry about Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, or even Al-Qaeda, for as the Roman, Spanish, and Soviet Empires before, America will have lost its military power with the fall and collapse of its economy. The enormous redistribution of wealth of the past eight years, coupled with the complete collapse of the buying power and wealth of the middle class, threatens the very existence of our once great republic. Let us hope that our fellow citizens will not be blinded by names like Wright, Ayers, and Rezko, or labels like socialist or even liberal. These men and names will not reverse the meltdown on Wall Street, the destruction of the housing and mortgage markets, the erosion of middle class incomes, the 47 million without health insurance, or resolve the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I am a proud West Point graduate, former Army combat arms captain, and patriot. I implore all Americans to turn away from emotionalism, backwards thinking, and irrationality. Study history, and the state of our nation, and make your decisions from now till Nov 4 very carefully. The future of our republic is at stake.

This is one of the few noteworthy articles and I choose to respond. It is IMPORTANT for potential voters to look beyond propaganda to the issues at hand. America is in crisis and its is disheartening that too many are arrogant and willfully blind to acknowledge this. Change is the way to national survival and it pleases me that you've seen it. I enjoyed the tone of your comment and I respect and applaud you for it.

The tax cuts for 95% of Americans Obama is going to implement when he's President is for "Working" folks. You conservatives have got to be out of your mind to think the Government will just mail a check to the American people who don't work. You Republicans need to check your facts like John McCain and stop lying to the American people. You neocons will lie, cheat and steal to make sure you put a out of touch man like McCain in the White House. McCain lacks substance and Palin, She just doesn't have a clue. Check the polls on her and see for your self. McCain sounds like a stuck record at his rallies, Always saying what he is going to do, But never laying out a plan. The only Americans McCain is talking about are the ones on wallstreet. We need a President who's talking about the issues, And not just talking, Obama's plans are detailed. The Democrats time has come.

    Obama???s Tax cut Illusion
The Wall Street Journal analyzes Barack Obama???s promise to cut taxes for 95% of Americans: Obama redefines tax cuts as tax credits and that results in a massive redistribution of taxpayer money.
Here is a list of Obama???s 7 proposed tax credits:
???- A $500 tax credit ($1,000 a couple) to ???make work pay??? that phases out at income of $75,000 for individuals and $150,000 per couple.
    - A $4,000 tax credit for college tuition.
    - A 10% mortgage interest tax credit (on top of the existing mortgage interest deduction and other housing subsidies).
    - A ???savings??? tax credit of 50% up to $1,000.
    - An expansion of the earned-income tax credit that would allow single workers to receive as much as $555 a year, up from $175 now, and give these workers up to $1,110 if they are paying child support.
    - A child care credit of 50% up to $6,000 of expenses a year.
    - A ???clean car??? tax credit of up to $7,000 on the purchase of certain vehicles.???
The clean car credit is the only tax credit that must offset actual money paid. The other 6 credits are ???refundable??? because they can be claimed even if you have no income-tax liability. These are income transfers intended to redistribute money from one American to another.
Thus, under Obama???s tax plan, millions of Americans will get government payments in excess of what they pay in taxes, making this a massive redistribution of income far beyond what welfare ever paid:
???The Tax Foundation estimates that under the Obama plan 63 million Americans, or 44% of all tax filers, would have no income tax liability and most of those would get a check from the IRS each year. The Heritage Foundation???s Center for Data Analysis estimates that by 2011, under the Obama plan, an additional 10 million filers would pay zero taxes while cashing checks from the IRS.
The total annual expenditures on refundable ???tax credits??? would rise over the next 10 years by $647 billion to $1.054 trillion, according to the Tax Policy Center. This means that the tax-credit welfare state would soon cost four times actual cash welfare. By redefining such income payments as ???tax credits,??? the Obama campaign also redefines them away as a tax share of GDP. Presto, the federal tax burden looks much smaller than it really is.

When listening to liberals like Obama and Biden one must be careful to listen for what they don???t say. The reason for this is liberals have a very difficult time talking directly to an issue. I think when you spread the wealth around, it???s good for everybody.??? Joe the Plumber had singlehandedly managed to get him to admit that his tax policy was designed to raise taxes on people earning over $250,000 for the purpose of redistributing it to those who didn???t ??? the classic definition of socialism. Liberals always seem to be looking over their mental shoulders or sniffing the political air.
Like the typical Liberal, their philosophy is to convince the public that they are sick, poor, down trodden, and generally worse off than they really are. And government is always the answer.

As usual, Zakaria lives in a "illusionary" world - one where evil does not exist, and there is no need for the American "super power"! What Zakaria fails to understand is that, in the absence of "understanding" that evil exists, evil will "prevail"! So let's elect a President who "sounds articulate", and promises "all to everyone", but someone who has DONE NOTHING in his political life!

Furthermore, does the fact that we liberated more than 60 million people in Afghanistan and Iraq AND THE FREE WORLD from the risks of a maniacal dictator and one who held NO LIGITIMACY to his rule not by itself prove that those OPPOSED to the war are on "poor moral ground"?

Not exactly an earth-shattering surprise, to be sure.
So now readers who do not worship Obama and his ultra-liberal minions will have to go look somewhere else for factual, non-partisan political coverage.

There's nothing rational about Mr. Zakaria's article. It is just another biased piece of journalism from a prejudiced magazine trying to pass itself off as reasoned analysis. Too many excuses have been made for Sen. Barack Obama. There have been no criticism, no questions, no vetting, just alot of nice words from media who wish to impose their belief system on the American people instead of asking the tough questions that have needed to be asked. In all of his years of "public service," Senator Obama has rarely served anyone but himself. But the media has suspended all journalistic standards to help bolster a man with no record of legislative accomplishment, no record of bi-partisan outreach, no record of ever once standing up to his party or exhibiting political courage; a man with suspect connections that have never been questioned by the mainstream media even when he himself contradicts the public record on these events and alliances. Moreover, with his extreme fundraising advantage, if Obama wins in 15 days, will it be because he bought the election by violating his own campaign promise to accept public financing. In anyone???s book that would normally be considered ???cheating.??? John McCain did, in true form, accept public financing - apparently to his detriment, especially now as Sen. Obama has proved his lack of character once again. All of this, if the media were capable of being journalists first, they would be reporting on. I think the media need to take a good hard look at themselves now and after this election. You have abused your power and the American people will not soon forget it. Democracy cannot exist with such a biased media and the way the media have conducted themselves ??? democracy doesn???t stand much of a chance.

After 9/11, the US government started rounding up Muslims without cause and without due process of law, like we did to the Japanese Americans in WWII. The Bush administration called it's main internment camp Guantanamo Bay. While there are certainly many guilty terrorists held in Guantanamo, there are also many innocent American citizens who have been held illegally for years without even being charged with any crime. They have been tortured by our government. Some of them have died.

Recently the Supreme Court ruled against the Bush administration in the matter of Guantanamo Bay. The Supreme Court Justices were NOT on the side of the terrorists. They were on the side of the Geneva Convention, that says you can not torture POWs, and on the side of US laws that state you can not imprison a person without charging them with a crime and bringing them to trial. I'm sure that like most Americans, the Justices who voted against the illegal, immoral doings at Guantanamo didn't feel sympathy for the terrorists. They felt sympathy for the laws of AMERICA, the land of the FREE, where even rat finks get a fair trial.

Meanwhile, back in Iraq, the Bush administration is busy trying to build a smokescreen to hide the CRIMES they have committed. Those pesky weapons of mass destruction. Just think, the National Debt went up over 6 trillion dollars under Bush. More than 2 trillion of it went directly into the pockets of Halliburton, a corporation owned by the Cheney family. Halliburton is now a DUBAI corporation and therefore is not subject to US taxes. All that money they took out of the US Treasury is going into the coffers of a MUSLIM country.

Did you hear about how the US government is being charged millions for Halliburton deliveries of sand into Iraq from Kuwait? Sand. Like there is a shortage of sand in Iraq? Another contractor shipped sand from Idaho to Iraq at our expense. Nobel prize winning economist Joseph Stiglitz discusses these and other excesses of our current government's out of control spending in Iraq.

Your grandchildren will be working like slaves to pay off this debt, so that the Bushes and Cheneys can live the high life in Dubai.

Yeah, they're patriots, Bush&Co. They wear flag pins. And hide the money they stole from America in Dubai.

And they want me to believe that Obama is a socialist. Right.

In case you think McCain is any different than Bush, watch this:

So I have some advice for you and your son for giving him the best chance to enjoy the lifestyle that we enjoy. I am not being cynical. I have a 10 year old son myself, and it is my plan to use these thoughts in bringing him up as well. First, make sure he has a piggy bank and is learning how to save now, as the likelihood of a government program to ensure his retirement is slim. Later on, perhaps when he enters high school, encourage him to learn Chinese, as given the Obama led path we are likely to embark on, China will replace the United States as the dominant economic and military power in the world.

And finally, have him pray, with you, and with me and my son, that the problem of Islamic fundamentalist extremism is dealt with in our generation, and not his. For if we are not successful in this task, even China's ambitions may not come to fruition.

Hey genius, from where do you think we're getting the trillions of dollars we're spending? CHINA! McCain wants to continue the pointless wars in the Middle East...more money from China! Go to the store sometime and see if you can buy something made in the US. It's not so easy anymore. Mostly Chinese goods, shipped in from the corporate behemoths that McCain supports. Obama is the true patriot, not McCain. Obama wants accessible healthcare for all Americans, more affordable education to create and keep jobs here, and has spoke endlessly about young minority men needing to educate and better themselves. Hardly someone who wishes China to overtake the US.
