Even if Joe stays Republican, Barack Obama will still likely win. That's because he has built a huge base of non-Joes???better-educated, younger whites, --- Wow, just call off the election, swear Barak in, and I guess Joe, your dumb-white-a** is irrelevent anyway....

Is this a news story or just a political commentary.. move lef,t move left, move left... umm I think most US Citizens are sick and tired of govt interference in EVERYTHING.. they take our hard earned money and give it to others, both foriegn and domestic, put more laws, rules and regulations in place to make any reasonible business person scream and in the end just make more americans dependant onthe govt.. instead of being independant.

I read both of Obama's books, I have studied his many speaches (some very radical) and have researched him extensively. His mentor Frank Marshall Davis was a card carrying communist subservient to the Soviet Union. Obama wrote that he and Frank visited in Hawaii and Frank was full of hard earned knowledge and ADVISE. They read poetry (Frank was a poet). Obama also wrote that he attended socialistic conferences. In a speach on the internet which I viewed about a year ago, Obama's programs for American could not have been more socialist, I won't list them as there were so many but one was a universal 401ks govt. matches contribution for low & moderate income families. This is socialism at its best: take from the ones who have worked hard for their money and distribute it thru taxes to the poor (too lazy to work?) and moderate income families. If obama wins, our friends will be Putin, Castro, Chavez, and the rest of the communist country leaders. ISRAEL, you will be on your own as Obama will not support you defensively; he has too much Arab blood.

I just chuckle at the fact that John McCain has accused Obama of being a black, radical, Muslim, terrorist, and that's the guy he is going to loose this election too? That by itself speaks volumes about what the American public thinks of John McCain the decorated American war hero. The country is telling the world we are ready to move in a new direction even if the Republican Party isn't.

People who look to the government or Wall Street either one to save them are naive at best. Anyone who puts their trust in someone else to save them will never be saved. It is not the government that makes us great nor Wall Street - it is us - the little people who do nothing but go vote for President once every four years and then complain that they didn't do what we wanted! We have the power within us, we just don't use it. We put our energy and efforts in to voting once every four years for people who truly have no interest in us - NO MATTER WHAT THEY PREACH the year before an election. When we little people wake up and realize that we have given all our control and power over to a giant money consuming monster (either Wall Street or the Government) then maybe WE can fix the problem. Until then - all you people who think your one little vote is going to change the world -wake up - it takes far more than getting people elected to fix the mess we have allowed big government and big business to make. We are not helpless - as we may feel - we just complain on sites like this about the "other side" being wrong and then go about about on our merry way continuning to do nothing. No matter who wins - we deserve what we get and either way it will be bad - and we will have no one to blame but ourselves. And people who write articles like this that make us believe "government is our last best hope" when they are at the core of the problem to begin with!

For my opinion I believe this to be the most exciting time in American Politics. Despite the constant bombardment of overwhelmingly negative news coming from every corner you can imagine the voting citizens of this nation have an opportunity to affect change in a way unprecedented in decades. I, like many of the rest of you, will vote with our conscious, we will vote for what we believe is true and good, we will vote because deep down each American knows and believes in their heart that WE THE PEOPLE are what make this nation great. When the polls close and the confetti settles no matter who we will call the next president this nation will continue to be a great nation because WE THE PEOPLE have an unbreakable spirit that will continue to permeate through the grief and the hardship and the disappointment. I encourage each and every person to go out and vote your mind be the change you know deep down inside you can be and don???t ever forget what you are capable of if you believe.

I believe that Republicans do not have a lock on conservatism - indeed, Obama knows that you need to be fiscally conservative to be more socially liberal. Otherwise it does not add up. Obama and the Democrats also understand you can't let the Foxes run the Hen Houses, and certainly not under self policing policies. And certainly not with limits on liability if they eat all the Hens and can't replace them when caught.

Republicans today do not understand the concept of collective. This is mostly because they are the ones that are benefiting from the Caveman's survival of the fittest ideas and the "ownership" society. They have the money and the power and they view and work politics to maintain it. They feel entitled and they pay lip service to social (collective) policies while generally demonizing them.

Republican Party leaders and their rich backers want to keep giving the mainstream masses a wind up toy. A Bush, a Palin, a McCain or any Barbie or Ken will do. Just dress 'em up and get 'em talkin' just like ole "Joe Six Pack" and "Joe the Plumber" whoever that is. Its sure not you or me. Let them think their leaders are just like you. This has kept the masses happy, while Republicans and cronies eat the Hens.

Of course, when the Hens are noticed missing, it will be someone else' fault. Probably the Democrats somehow, it does not matter how, or someone in Iraq. No wait, it might be Putin, or possibly its Castro, no wait he's almost dead, okay then, Chavez ...... Or maybe that Muslim Arab Socialist African Malaysian Hawaiian and UnAmerican Obama...... And so the tomfoolery goes........

Liberals are not socialists. The latter is a word sullied by dictators and megalomaniacs. Theirs' is a false concept of socialism, used for selfish gain and to keep the masses poor and in chains. As McCain has said - strong backs, or the backbone of America is that American laborer. A back strong enough to carry the malarkey called Republican Conservatism or, I think, Piratical Conservative is more fitting.

There is no stronger Nation than one with a well run economic engine. One that is fairly and sensibly regulated. One that shares the wealth equitably. One that is built on morally sound incentive systems for its operators. One with a collective advancement and support system for all its members.

Republicans will tell us that you don't send into battle men without protection and weapons. You don't send men untrained or uneducated on the use of weapons. You don't win battles or the war by leaving your compatriots unprotected. And for sure you don't leave the weak and wounded behind in battle. Their rescue is the mark of heroes. If this is heroic in the battlefields of war, why not so in the battlefields of life?

America is indeed headed for a brighter future with Obama than with McCain.

"One that shares the wealth equitably. One with a collective advancement and support system for all its members."

From each, according to his abilities, to each, according to his needs. Thank you, Karl Marx.

Ben Franklin could not have articulated a better argument for rationalizing the "better" candidate. Thank You!

McCain: "Raising taxes on some in order to give checks to others is not a tax cut, it's just another government giveaway."
So therefore cutting taxes on some in order to take away wellfare checks, health benefits, and education from others is sound government policy?
Furthermore, if "Joe the Plumber" makes enough to buy a business that will earn him over $250,000 a year, I have news for you: HE IS NOT MIDDLE CLASS!
If he makes $250,000 a year he should be able to afford to give a little back to our country in order to make it possible for others to have that same opportunity.

This is a very odd article. You seem to be saying that "left" (liberal) means for the people and "right" (conservative) means not for the people. Wouldn't "for the people" be centrist? Isn't that what America--since it's very founding--is all about? "We the people...," "of the people, by the people, for the people..." Our Founding Fathers never had it in mind that government should favor the rich, the powerful, the elite. These labels have got to go.

This is one of the best articulated opinions I've seen in months. If everyone would listen to the voice of reason instead of the manic screeching of fear we would all be better for it. My biggest fear is that the McCain campaign machine will stumble onto some sort of fear-mongering that has even the ring of truth and that people will use it as an excuse to vote with them. They are certainly running out of options...as they should

The country has moved the right... oh wait... it's moved to the left... oh wait it might move to the right if the left doesn't embrace the religious values of the right... but then again... ARRRRGGHHH!!! Can we PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD just have a shift away from the absurd??? George Washington warned us about political parties and how they would turn politics into a game to be won rather than a way to look out for America's citizens. It's never before seemed so clear that his dire warning should have been heeded.

The right wing commentary will get more and more ideological. It will try to paint Obama what he is not. That is their only hope. It is not going to work.

To those who spout off about Obama being Socialist. Well, if he is a socialist, then McCain and Bush are bush-wacking Pirates, dressed in business suits. So are those running the large businesses these days with "golden parachutes", with special note of the oil companies, car companies and the investment banks.

The American people are starting to tune out the Republican Party. And rightly so. I think the reason is simple - America as a Nation trumps the Republican Party. Many are starting to see through the Republican facade. William Buckley Jr. even gets it but the Party Leaders and demagogues do not - especially people like Bush, Rush and and de Rothschild. The Party is so imbued in its own Propaganda, in its own sense of Superiority and Self Righteousness, that it has indeed lost its way.

The Party has something of a Maoist sentiment of being the ruling Party and the Ruling Class. In spite of the dissent of most of the Nation. Republicans need to seize the levers of the Party, tear it down and rebuild from the grass roots up. Its ownership is too centered in selfish ideological hands and its philosophy has gone Piratical; way too right wing. I think it is way out of the mainstream. For so long it has been there, and held its ground by moving the mainstream and demonizing the left. No more.

How come I know more about Joe the Plumber than I know about Barak Obama?
