Even if all of Acorn's newly-registered voters were disqualified, Obama would win. I was just out in rural (unglaciated) Ohio, and I saw 2 or 3 Obama lawn signs for every McCain sign. If Obama is going to win Lancaster, OH, he's got this election in the bag.

Yeah, thank God we are heading "left" again. I live in Florida and we have early voting starting today!!! I can't wait to see the numbers!

I didn't see Sarah on any of the morning news shows, you know the ones where CREDIBLE candidates appear like Face the Nation and Meet the Press. Has she withdrawn from the race?

Oh, yes, and wasn't Colin Powell's endorsement of Senator Obama stunning?

    • Posted By: Pocolodi @ 10/19/2008 2:06:53 PM

Stunning? You must have been the only person on the planet that didn't know that was gonna happen!

      • Posted By: neos @ 10/19/2008 2:40:06 PM

I did not say surprising, I said stunning.

        • Posted By: Pocolodi @ 10/19/2008 3:51:13 PM

Stunning, surprising... they mean the same thing. But you go ahead and split hairs!

          • Posted By: neos @ 10/19/2008 6:20:29 PM

Different denotations and certainly different connotations. Few were surprised today; many on the right were, and are, stunned.

You continue to weave your definitions to fit your agenda.... it's what liberals do!

..........................................Bush has not represented the thinking of Average Americans, that is obvious!!!! America is not really this Center-Right group they talk about, Bush only won in 2000 and 2004 because a Huge Block of Americans did not get out and vote, a Block of voters that fits mostly in the mode of being in the Democratic category. The Media influences elections in our States and Counties because of the Wealthy Individuals and Corporations that own the Newspapers, Magazines, Radio and Television or because Big Big Advertisers will not put ads in the media that does not reflect their greedy interests......so our information is totally slanted to the Right Wing Republican side!!!

If Sarah Palin had said that FDR went on TV in 1929, the likely reaction would have Reaganesque: THERE SHE GOES< AGAIN.

Jonathan Alter is an Obama propagandist since the primaries.

  • Posted By: quasqueton @ 10/20/2008 1:32:43 AM

Well, Alterboy, you know as well as most historians - the only thing that ended the "Great Depression" was World War II!

Alter. Gergen's got nothing on you....Purrrr.

In 2005, an average Chief Executive Officer (CEO) was paid 821 times as much as a minimum wage earner, who earns just $5.15 per hour. An average CEO earns more before lunchtime on the very first day of work in the year than a minimum wage worker earns all year. In 1965 the ratio was 51 times. In Japan the ratio is 11 to one.

While running Lehmann Brothers into the ground, its CEO collected nearly 500 million dolllars from 2000-2008.

While no one will dispute that CEO's deserve higher compensation, this EXCESSIVE greed is what is ruining America.

Where's your license, Alter? Screw the "glorious" state's permission-to-work requirements, and the media's "vetting" of a private citizen whose only crime was to dare question The One, and exposed him for what he is -- a full-fledged Marxist.

The Obama presidency combined with a Dem supermajority will be an absolute disaster. Trust. I am more than happy (and prepared) to suffer through a 10 year depression in order to send you and your Socialist Democrats back to the wilderness for decades, or forever.

    • Posted By: thehappyamerican @ 10/19/2008 6:28:24 PM

Well, I think we'd suffer 24 months when the mid-term elections are held and Americans are sick of what they are seeing, and understanding Liberalism as they never have before....
But Americans can be SLOW learners so maybe it will be "ten years" as The One and That One spoke of.

Should he be elected, Obama can not afford to be "left" or "right." He must provide "good" government. What does that mean? Among other things, it does not mean "sharing the wealth" by taxing the rich and providing tax rebates (welfare) to the poor. This is neither just nor fair. Need to raise taxes? Repeal the Bush tax cuts across the board to remove the structural deficits in the system and treat all persons fairly.

  • Posted By: lib-fascist @ 10/19/2008 5:49:25 PM

The country is not moving left, it's being hijacked by the liberal fascists. I want nothing to do with this government or with either political party. This illegitimate government protects only the interests of the elite political class. Obama is an extremely dangerous demagogue, even more dangerous than Hillary, which I did not think possible. There will be no unity as long as the liberal fascists demand that we surrender our freedom and become slaves of the government. We must fight the liberal fascists with every available means at our disposal. They are the dividers, they are the racists, they are the intolerant haters.

McCain is a liar. Wake up people. I just him on TV, blaming Obama for the misfortunes of "Joe the plumber". He says "Joe didn't ask Obama to come to his house." What BS. This lie is minor, but there is a history of MAJOR lies. Read up: http://www.wakeupfromyourslumber.com/node/6065
He will say ANYTHING to get elected.

You have a link for that 80K thing? And registering the homeless isn't legal... you can't vote if you don't have an address.... then there's the matter giving them money and cigarettes to vote democrat (never republican!). And by the way, requiring people to identify themselves is not voter suppression.

But you go ahead and minimize Acorn's voter fraud all you want.

    • Posted By: neos @ 10/19/2008 1:36:27 PM

First, I did not minimize the action of those who worked for ACORN who commited acts. If you read my post, you will clearly see the word despicable.
Second, I'll give you a link, but i have played this particular game with dittoheads before. 'If it's not a FOX link then they slam their brains shut and refuse to see. Sigh. And of course, old 'fair and balanced' Fox does not report what does not support their agenda. A vicious circle of ignorance..

      • Posted By: Pocolodi @ 10/19/2008 1:53:43 PM

Sorry for the double post. Something technical is up (or down) here at NW....

You claimed Acorn has been smeared, then say their actions of voter fraud are despicable. I guess I misunderstood. I should have been more specific and asked for an "unbiased" link, as I agree Fox is biased, but so is Newsweek. That's why I will list neither as sources.

        • Posted By: neos @ 10/19/2008 2:16:58 PM

I was in no way talking about a smear against ACORN and those few employees who acted criminally and stupidly. The smear being perpetrated by Fox, Rush, and many bloggers here is against Senator Obama in a slimy attempt to somehow link him to those actions.

I did not quote a biased source. Newsweek is a mainstream source with a center left lean. They also feature articles by George Will and Karl Rove, for pity's sake. But, Newsweek is a reputable news source as you (should) well know. Now if you will not accept the validity of the mainstream media, then you are by definition an extremist. Too bad for you and the truth.

          • Posted By: Pocolodi @ 10/19/2008 3:53:15 PM

How can "a few" Acorn employees cause so much voter fraud in so many states? And why can't Acorn stop it, it's only been going on since 1998! And it's funny, Obama gives them 800 grand, and they just happen to want to stuff the ballot box with dem votes.... never a vote fraud case with Acorn involving a republican.

Newsweek is center-left? Laughable! C'mon.... like that'll ever happen! You mention two token conservatives whom I almost never read here... the other 8 or 9 contributors are libs who take up most of the daily space.

Don't be so sure about a progressive movement to the left. Look at all the "red" states in this nation and the McCain/Palin rallies to see how racism, bigotry, and ignorance are still alive and well. The "spreading the wealth around" and equating this with Marxism is a good example too. We could call the Bush/Paulson "rescue plan" Flood Up (rather than trickle down) voodoo economics, which is just "distribution of wealth" socialism for the wealthy and big business. For that matter, what's public funding of McCain's campaign? The election of unpredictable and unqualified McCain/Palin, and the transfer of public funds to private hands is what Americans should really fear.

  • Posted By: rube @ 10/19/2008 3:02:18 PM

The nation was exposed to two brutal presidential campaigns from the GOP! Basically if you dont vote for the GOP you will be attacked, killed, murdered. Here comes the mushroom cloud, gas attacks and on and on.
So this our center righ nation? A paralyzed culture in shock - frozen with such life-threatening policies. If we
dont have wars such as Iraq we are not safe. Theres another word for this current culture- its fascism plain and simple! The GOP shouldn???t be running for yet another term they should be running to escape getting lynched!

If McCain wins be prepared to grab your ankles...
Democracy as we know it will slide into the ditch. We will continue our journey as "a police state" to the world. The middle class will continue losing its equity/education hence they will become third world citizens- another Mexico!

With all the ringing endorsements from profound authors/writers, the nations newspapers, the U.S. military, Americas fireman and policemen it amazing to me that centrists/independents could even be thinking about the GOP party! The GOP has shown nothing but disdain, hate and fear. I could be writing these words about Bush or Mccain, the truth is- this message fits them both equally!

    A microcosm of McCain Arizona-
near last in the union with health care...
near dead last in public education...
a right to work state- this means you are underpaid for your work and skill and you overpay for the bad quality of health care.
    Sound familiar?

In 26 years of legislative work Mccain never once worked, sponsored or pushed for the science and or implementation of sustainable energy/solar even though Arizona has the most potential of any state in the union for such programs!
He did bring gambling to the Nations/reservations of Arizona.
McCain never met a war he didn???t vote for.
Ugly, you darn right its ugly!

  • Posted By: rube @ 10/19/2008 3:01:27 PM

Amazing most of those people voted for Bush and now they tell us to vote for McCain...
8 years of Bush hows that working out?
