Given the coarse nature of every other character attack the McCain/Palin ticket is making on Obama and the fact that he's not interceding to stop other conservative groups from pushing the Wright issue, I hardly think that principle is behind McCain's decision to keep Rev. Wright out of the fray. It seems more likely to me that the Obama campaign has something on McCain that could damage him to the core, not just politically, and that there is a tacit agreement between the two campaigns 'not to go there'.

"A former Newsweek reporter admitted in an article this week that he has no objectivity and imagined disabling Rudy Giuliani so he wouldn't run in the presidential primary race last year.
Michael Hastings wrote in GQ magazine that he had a "recurring fantasy" that he could somehow stop the former New York City mayor in his tracks.
"I quickly realized Rudy was a maniac. I had a recurring fantasy in which I took him out during a press conference (it was nonlethal, just something that put him out of commission for a year or so), saving America from the horror of a President Giuliani. If that sounds like I had some trouble being 'objective,' I did. Objectivity is a fallacy," he said."

McCain is the one who called for 43 new nuke plants to be built so what is the cost to americans on his budget. He will not bring up Rev Wright so Obama will not bring up Gordon Liddy who held fund raisers for McCain.

The NYT's just reported that new permits to build nuclear power plants are coming in at a record, 34 new plants so far. We haven't had a single request since 1973. This is in anticipation of an Obama administration. Hillary Clinton was opposed to nuclear power.

    Today in the NYT's:

"Not since 1973 had anybody in the United States ordered a nuclear plant that was actually built, and the obstacles to a new generation of plants seemed daunting.

But now, according to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, 21 companies say they will seek permission to build 34 power plants, from New York to Texas. Factories are springing up in Indiana and Louisiana to build reactor parts. Workers are clearing a site in Georgia to put in reactors. Starting in January, millions of electric customers in Florida will be billed several dollars a month to finance four new reactors."

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/24/business/24nuke.html?e

In an article entitled "Catch-22: Water vs. Energy" in Scientific American Earth3.0: "Nuclear power plants use enormous quantities of water, usually drawn from rivers and lakes, to cool their big reactors." The Farley Nuclear Plant in Alabama was almost shut down. Same in Georgia. Same in North Carolina. "Lake Norman dropped to less than a foot above the minimum allowed level for Duke Energy's McGuire Nuclear Station."

Nuclear is also dependent on uranium: "The diminishing availability of high-grade uranium ores will pose a hard limit to the future growth of nuclear energy."

Exelon has leaked millions of gallons of radioactive contaminated water into the environment. Not once or twice but eight times. They covered it up for years. There is a large class-action suit against them. The state of Illinois is also suing.

Obama has deep connections to Exelon and the Nuclear Energy Institute, the industry's lobbying group. He is pro-nukes even though he has denied it. He voted for Cheney's disastrous energy bill and the GOP's class action reform bill that prevents families from bringing class action suits against corporate polluters. He authored a bill to waterdown regulations on radioactive leaks. "The bill also contained the new wording sought by Exelon making it clear that state and local authorities would have no regulatory oversight of nuclear power plants."

MSNBC is owned by General Electric. GE builds nuclear reactors. MSNBC has been in the tank for Obama since day one. Hillary didn't have a chance. MSNBC, TIME, NEWSWEEK, THE WASHINGTON POST and SLATE have an agreement to share editorial content and journalists among other things. That is why Hillary was thoroughly thrashed.

The Democratic party is heading in the wrong direction under the leadership of Pelosi and Obama. They have caved in on oil drilling. Environmentalists defeated oil drilling even when Congress was controlled by the GOP. Ironically, environmentalists didn't even get a chance to fight the bill with Democrats

Yea go ahead John, show us just how low you will go in trying to make it into the White House. You couldn't make it on your own merits, the Queen of Trailer Park Trash couldn't deliver, so now you want to bring in another distortion by naming Wright in the Obama campaign/ Go for it, you will only hammer in the last nail in your coffin by doing so.

    • Posted By: Vypurr @ 10/24/2008 8:11:33 AM

You're candidate will likely win the election.... having done so by supporters like you who wore your king size blinders to issues of character that really matter. Easy going 20 year relationships with nutcases that bombed government buildings and other facilities, and mentors that think, among other absurdities, the government is trying to kill all blacks with the AIDS virus. Then there's handing almost a million dollars to a bogus front company for Acorn, knowing they have been bagged for fraud stuffing the ballot box with dem votes for the last 10 years.

None of that matters. People want that handout Obama's promised and he's gotten enough votes in exchange for it. It just feels too good knowing the evil rich will be picking up the tab! It most likely won't happen, as it didn't with Clinton and his tax ruse... but it did get him into office, and Obama knows the same ruse will work for him too. Promising 95 percent of Americans will get a tax cut when 40 percent don't pay taxes already is only one of the giant red flags that you and other Obama followers refuse to see.

Enjoy your new messiah... we'll see how you feel when you don't get your promised hand out, and especially after Biden's guarantee of an "international crisis" happens right after he takes office.

God help us if he does what Clinton did and raises the white flag.

"Obama said on "Meet the Press" that Wright was a "legitimate political issue." At that point, McCain criticized some of Wright's more extreme views???including, as he put it, likening U.S. Marines to the Roman legionnaires "responsible for the death of our savior." But McCain also said that he didn't believe Obama shared Wright's "world view." His comments prompted pushback from the Obama campaign nonetheless."

Again, I am embarrassed by this election season. What should have been a wealth of opportunity has turned into a slime bath. Any criticism of Obama results in an accusation of racism even if, as in the above article, he himself stated the subject was a viable issue. Today, the word 'socialist' became racist. This election season, from primary to general election, should have been one of the most inspiring of my life but has instead been the ugliest and most depressing.

    • Posted By: Vypurr @ 10/24/2008 7:32:05 AM

Quote: "Any criticism of Obama results in an accusation of racism."

Obama preemptively played the race card with comments like "I don't look like the guys on the five dollar bills" and his supporters continue to play the racist game when confronted with questions about 20 year relationships with nutcases that bomb government buildings and mentors that believe the government is run by the KKK and that government wants to eliminate blacks.

Playing the race card allows them both to conveniently gloss over Obama's past.

  • Posted By: brokeroncall @ 10/21/2008 4:23:21 PM

He doesn't need to drag Obama thru the reality of what he, Obama is and will be. But there is one thing that is for certain. You people in the press, self serving libs that you are, certainly won't make a story if the truth about Obama either. Just like you never touched on the great Powell traitor move. You say it's not racist but its' just like Amos endorsing Andy.

    • Posted By: Doc Howl @ 10/23/2008 6:07:39 PM

Well, I'll say that YOU are a racist.

      Amos and Andy, indeed.

It's good that he won't, he shouldn't. What McCain SHOULD do is bring up the fact that Obama refuses to provide his birthcertificate to anyone because he is not a "natural born citizen" as the Constitution requires a presidential candidate to be. As Obama goes to Hawaii to "visit his sick grandma" [which is code for deal with Phillip J. Berg's lawsuit that proves Obama is not qualified to be POTUS.

He also SHOULD bring up Obama's cousin Odinga, the democracy wrecking, Christian killing terrorist of Kenya, who ran with Obama at his side (on taxpayer dollars) on a platform of "change" (sound familiar?) McCain should also bring up Obama's financial backing and encouragement to go into politics by terrorist Mansour. But, since the journalists won't touch anything bad about Obama with a ten foot pole, maybe McCain is doing the best he can under these bizarre circumstances. "SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 WE WILL NEVER FOR GET" is already a breeze blown right out of the collective American minds... We have forgotten or we would not be even having a discussion about this candidate other than to say "God forbid anyone like him ever be elected for anything"!

      Too funny.

You guys keep spouting your conspiracy theory crap, and we'll laugh as your candidate takes a nose dive.

    Taxes:

-Those making between $250,000 and $400,000 annually will have less than $1,500 increase in their taxes. (These people are not complaining. Joe is not one of these people.)

-Those making more than $3 Million annually will pay only 23%.

This will PAY FOR the tax cuts given to the middle class.
This WILL NOT INCREASE THE DEFICIT!

    Calculate your taxcut: http://taxcut.barackobama.com/

    ...................

McCain has a Santa Clause approach to tax cutting. He wants to make cuts, but has not identified how it will be paid for. This will never pass Congress.

McCAIN'S TAX PLAN (or slogan) WILL WILL INCREASE THE DEFICIT!

Get your specific McCain Tax info (if available)

    McCain has slogans not plans.

I'm sorry, but you're not a "maverick" if you've never held a job in the private sector and have spent the last 30 years warming a mahogany chair in an office paid for by Joe the Plumber. The only people that can be compared to are the old elites of the Communist party of the former USSR, who also whittled at self-congradulatory careers at the people's expense. You don't call them "mavericks"; they are called "Communists". John McCain has had his hand out to the taxpayer his entire life, yet Obama, a man who came from little and by his own effort (not his dad's or granddad's legacy) rose to the top, is called a "socialist". Get over yourself, John, you have been a leech on the ass of the country your entire life and it's time to tear you off.

FactCheck.Org is owned by the Annenberg group of Chicago! Talk about a conflict of interest! And Obama has been telling people on the trail to check out the site to verify his opponents claims. Funny, every time that he endorsed something, it turns out to be a part of his spin machine! Like he raised objections in the primaries when Indiana required photo I.D. to vote. He Protested that It took away people's right to vote! I
knew then and there that he was up to no good! America, wake up from the MASS HYPNOSIS!

    RoboHate.

The McCain/Palin campaign is now combining our analog (or digital, cell) telephones with computers, and has produced RoboHate calls against his opponent, to enliven hatred wherever possible.

Hate is not good for the country. And McCain/Palin uses hatred too often. However, McCain/Palin stumbles grossly on unity.

This country needs unity in difficult times. Yes We Can. Obama/Biden is right for this country right now.

Also not mentioned - much: McCain's association with Charles Keating; John Hagee; his own transition advisor, William Timmons, who aided Saddam Hussein's efforts to get international sanctions against his regime lifted; his campaign manager, Rick Davis was paid $15,000 a month from 2005 until August of this year according to the NY Times, http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/24/us/politics/24davis.html by one of the "giant mortgage companies at the heart of the credit crisis. There are lots of 'unmentionables' that can be brought up again and again and again... Why would McCain be so foolish as to bring up the Reverend Wright again?

  • Posted By: Lucy10 @ 10/22/2008 4:21:20 AM

Odd that the writer didn't mention that John McCain's great great grandfather owned slaves. Surely that will have some bearing on McCain's decision not to go for the Reverend Wright. It could open up a hornet's nest.

  • Posted By: taxpayer1954 @ 10/22/2008 12:08:10 AM

The non working class in America are so absorbed in the hopes of redistribution of wealth (free money, welfare, checks) they could care less about a person's character. Wright's message sank in as did OB's other buds. He has just forgotten (till after the election). Wait till those who vote him in see these same mentors at the White House dinners. That will be a Hoot!!
