Sadly this state has one of the nation's highest home foreclosure rates and percentage of residents who lack any type of health insurance. That plus the economic meltdown and savings accounts for seniors doesn't do much for a state that is so eavily reliant on tourism for state revenue. I can fully understand why the GOP is seeing RED over their candidate's failure to define himself as being different from 8 years of failed GOP economic & foreign policies. The real Maverick in this race is Senator Barack Obama!

    THE GREAT BUSH DEPRESSION
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
He perfectly predicted the current meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen next
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide ,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch , Fanny and Freddy Mae ,AIG
The government took them over because they are bankrupt. Even with the goverment nationalizing hundreds of billions of dollars in debt the stock market is crashing
the credit markets are frozen and all of us may suffer beyond anything seen in generations
McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand how its been broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use quantum mathematical models very few people understand.
Bush and McCain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.
Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.
Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy. He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He was the last to know somthing was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime. It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a budget surplus like Bush did but a crashing economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit. Most of it Bush created and it will take decades to pay it back.
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why are the polls even close then ?
Mccains team just said they no longer want to talk about the economy.Instead they would like to spend time talking about obama
which means running the biggest smear campaign in history.
They think they can just tell you lies and you wont be smart enough to see through it
Let's teach him we are smarter than that
Stand up and hold them accountable
Bush isn't on the ballot this year but his policies are
    Elect Obama Biden 2008

    to joelpalmer:
where did you get this stuff from? there is a senator in vt. a bernard sanders. he is a democratic socialist and all this means all it means is that he believes in HEALTH BENEFITS FOR ALL. that is the way it's done in all the scandinavian countries and canada. with all the taxes us americans pay, we are entitled to this. if you've ever gone without medical coverage and become ill, i promise you will speak entirely different. the republican party just loves the likes of you. they don't have to bother about all that medical coverage. i hope joel that you are very young because then there is an excuse for your opinion and the fact that there is no such word as "hisself." thank you.

"... say their troops are fired up and have all the resources they need."

LOL! Except voters! When time passes and both campaigns are dismantled, and we get the inside story of both of them, we'll see what a disaster the McCain campaign is, from top to bottom. I fault Bush for being a disaster and the worst president ever, but even he knew to surround himself with a disciplined campaign that gave a damn.

Why is the leftist socialist slamming a fellow American like Joe for asking an honest question millions of us wanted to know, 'how will I be affected by your agenda if your elected/". Well they are pissed because some average 'Joe' received for once an unrehearsed, non-vague response and it was reported world wide.
'Yo.re hope of making a better life for yourself, will be taxed more heavily under my leadership, and perhaps your hopes and dreams will be completely dashed, so that I can redistribute your hard earned cash to further my socialist agenda" Hey left wing nuts, you are supporting this Marxist, if elected everyone was going to find out anyway, live with it!

Florida Republicans SHOULD BE worried. This coming election sensible Floridians should strip Republicans from every public office. While they were in control Republicans let Osama Bin Laden escape unpunished, they got us to invade and destroy a country that did us no harm, they turned the rest of the world against us, and they destroyed our national economy. Some of the billions of dollars of lost real estate investments are clearly visible in the empty exclusive malls and luxury condos in South Florida. Meanwhile, the State of Florida is broke and tourism, its major industry, is hobbling. Thank you, Bush/Cheney; and, no thank you, McCain/Palin.

I want a president who can maintain his composure in all circumstance, be articulate, diplomatic, respectful with a background that enables him to be empathetic and humble. A president who can relate to the everyday struggles of the lower/middle class population. Someone who will champion against the wrongs in the current administration while inspiring us to believe in our government again. Someone who will lead by example. John McCain is none of the above.

  • Posted By: jwtrotman @ 10/18/2008 5:33:20 PM

Mccain's infatuation with "joe the plumber" is indicative of that with palin. Apparently he is EASILY MISLEAD or EXTREMELY NAIVE. What's next, Pep Boys; Manny, Moe & Jack? It's 3:00 AM in the White House, do you know where your wannabe next President's brain is? With someone like that at the helm our enemies do not have to worry or attack; this country will SELF DESTRUCT!!!!!!

Sounds like McCain can't run his campaign. How's he going to run our Country? Badly? Misstep after misstep...erratic behavior. Definition er·rat·ic : /????ræt??k/ ???adjective 1. deviating from the usual or proper course in conduct or opinion; eccentric; queer:

NOWFORTHETRUTH: They are all liars and will do and say whatever they can to get elected. But there is a difference between "twisting the truth" which is still lying ,and fabricating malicous slander that preys on the fears, weakness, and prejudices of a poorly educated and misinformed public. I can handle a politician that does the usual "twist and spin" (you can't really blame them it is,after all, the nature of the beast) but not the latter.

If America is going to fight its way out of a worldwide economic crisis that has people fearful of losing not only their homes but also their jobs, and fearful of unending war, then it must have better leadership than it has had the past eight years.
While John McCain also promises "change," it''s hard to believe that''s possible from someone who, by his own admission, has voted with Bush 90 percent of the time. mostly, he and Bush have been on the same page.McCain credit for supporting the successful "surge" of additional U.S. troops to Iraq. But McCain opposes a timetable for leaving Iraq, something even the Iraqi government wants. Obama wants a reasonable timetable for withdrawal, coordinated to protect U.S. troops, that would allow our focus to shift to the Afghanistan/Pakistan border area, where Osama bin Laden is holed up.One of the most persistent deceptions in this campaign is McCain''s claim that Obama proposes "painful tax increases on working American families." Obama would raise income taxes on households earning more than $250,000 per year. Most households - 81 percent - would receive a tax cut. The nonpartisan Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center has calculated that households earning between $37,595 and $66,354 a year would save $1,118 on their taxes annually under Obama''s plan. McCain''s proposal would save those same families, on average, $325.
