Florida GOP never had a ground game. Honestly, I am a registered Florida Republican and I was never contacted by anyone in the party except through direct mailings which were full of lies. McCain's choice of Sarah Palin showed an unprecedented lack of good judgment and sealed his fate. I have already voted for Obama/Biden., and I trust him to govern with a steady and pragmatic hand. All the hate mongering of the Palin campaign makes McCain look weak and is bad for our country. The world is watching.

Reindelazez -- You lie. The only reason you are a registered Republican, is because you want to swing an election. I can always recognize a liar when he says he is a registered Republican. A Republican just calls himself a Republican not a "registered Republican". I know this because I'm a "registered Democrat" Your not fooling anyone.

SHOULD Barack Obama win the presidency and Democrats take full control of Congress, next year will see a real legislative attempt to bring back the Fairness Doctrine - and to diminish conservatives' influence on broadcast radio, the one medium they dominate. Yes, the Obama campaign said some months back that the candidate doesn't seek to re-impose this regulation, which, until Ronald Reagan's FCC phased it out in the 1980s, required TV and radio broadcasters to give balanced airtime to opposing viewpoints or face steep fines or even loss of license. But most Democrats - including party elders Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry and Al Gore - strongly support the idea of mandating "fairness." Would a President Obama veto a new Fairness Doctrine if Congress enacted one? It's doubtful. The Fairness Doctrine was an astonishingly bad idea. It's a too-tempting power for government to abuse. When the doctrine was in effect, both Democratic and Republican administrations regularly used it to harass critics on radio and TV. Second, a new Fairness Doctrine would drive political talk radio off the dial. If a station ran a big-audience conservative program like, say, Laura Ingraham's, it would also have to run a left-leaning alternative. But liberals don't do well on talk radio, as the failure of Air America and indeed all other liberal efforts in the medium to date show. Stations would likely trim back conservative shows so as to avoid airing unsuccessful liberal ones. Then there's all the lawyers you'd have to hire to respond to the regulators measuring how much time you devoted to this topic or that. Too much risk and hassle, many radio executives would conclude. Why not switch formats to something less charged - like entertainment or sports coverage? For those who dismiss this threat to freedom of the airwaves as unlikely, consider how the politics of "fairness" might play out with the public. A Rasmussen poll last summer found that fully 47 percent of respondents backed the idea of requiring radio and television stations to offer "equal amounts of conservative and liberal political commentary," with 39 percent opposed. Liberals, Rasmussen found, support a Fairness Doctrine by 54 percent to 26 percent, while Republicans and unaffiliated voters were more evenly divided. The language of "fairness" is seductive. Even with control of Washington and public support, Dems would have a big fight in passing a Fairness Doctrine. Rush Limbaugh & Co. wouldn't sit by idly and let themselves be regulated into silence, making the outcome of any battle uncertain. But Obama and the Democrats also plan other, more subtle regulations that would achieve much the same outcome. He and most Democrats want to expand broadcasters' public-interest duties. One such measure would be to impose greater "local accountability" on them - requiring stations to carry more local programming whether the public wants it or not. .

Hell if it would get rid of that "Bag of Fat" Limbaugh I'm all for it. What a bag of wind. And I'm a registered Republican. But not voting that way this time.

      • Posted By: CommonJoe @ 10/23/2008 1:26:12 AM

Muffinb -- You lie. You have never been a Republican. I would never let you into one of my rallys.

IN MY OPINION: IT IS TIME FOR ROBIN HOOD TO TAKE FROM THE RICH TO GIVE TO THE POOR! DURING THE LAST EIGHT YEARS, THE RICH HAVE BEEN TAKING FROM THE POOR BY CONTROLLING THE DISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH AND OPPORTUNITY AND THE WAYS AND MEANS FOR A BETTER LIFE IN THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD.

HOW HAVE THE REPUBLIANS DONE THIS? LOOK AT THE BIG CORPORATIONS: THEY CONTROL THE MAJORITY OF BUSINES IN ALMOST EVERY COMMUNITY ACROSS AMERICA. THEY HAVE DESTROYED THE MOM AND POPS STORES ACROSS THE COUNTRY. FOR ALL PRACTICAL PURPOSES, SMALL BUSINESS DO NOT MAKE MORE THAN $250,000. THE BIG CORPORATIONS DO NOT LET THEM.

MOST CORPORATION HAVE SCOUTS WHOSE JOB IS TO GET INFORMATION ON PRICES IN THE COMMUNITY SET BY THE SMALL BUSINESS. THEY KILL THE COMPETITION BY LOWERING PRICES TO THE POINT WHERE SMALL BUSINESS HAVE TO FOLD UP.

MAIN STREET IS NO LONGER IN EXISTENCE-NOW ITS THE LOOPS AND MALLS IN SMALL TOWNS WHERE THE ACTION IS WITH CORPORATE AMERICA RULES!

IT IS ABOUT TIME THAT THEY PAY HIGHER TAXES SINCE THEY CONTROL WEALTH AND OPPORTUNITY. GO OBAMA! GO BIDEN! WAKE UP AMERICA AND SMELL THE WEALTH AND OPPORTUNITY, NOT THE LIPSTICK!

    • Posted By: CommonJoe @ 10/23/2008 1:23:06 AM

Rockye -- You suffer from class envy. If you seek medical attention now, you can possibly cure it. Rockye, no one owes you anything and no one has been controlling your little wealth. You just can't come to the realization that you probably aren't that bright. Don't be a hater!

IN MY OPINION: McCAIN IS LOSING IT AND LOSING THE CAMPAIGN. BUT HE IS NOT STUPID, HE CAN STILL WALK AND CHEW GUM AT THE SAME TIME AND TELL LIE AFTER LIE. HE IS USING JOE THE PLUMBER WHO I THINK IS A FAKE AND A FRAUD, TO LIE AND CONFUSE THE VOTERS REFERENCE SEN. OBAMAS TAX PLAN.

I DO AGREE THAT THE CORPORATIONS SHOULD BE TAXED IN ORDER TO HELP PAY FOR THE DAMAGE THAT THEY HAVE DONE TO THE ECONOMY. THEY HAVE DESTROYED THE ESSENCE OF COMPETITION AND FREEDOM OF ENTERPRIZE IN AMERICA BY CONTROLLING WEALTH AND OPPORTUNITY FOR THE MASSES.

THE IDIOTIC McCAIN SEES THIS, BUT HE DOES NOT WANT TO ADMIT IT. IF HE DOES ADMIT IT, HE WILL HAVE TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY IN PART FOR THE DAMAGE DONE. HE IS NOT GOING TO ACCEPT THIS TRUTH, THAT IS WHY WE SHOULD ELECT OBAMA AS PRESIDENT! GO OBAMA/BIDEN!

Enough about ACORN. You stupid Republicans can turn nothing into insanity in a heartbeat. Iraq was a world menace with nuclear weapons. Now Acorn is the greatest threat to democracy. ACORN is a small organization that tries to get the poor people in this country involved in the political process. That's it. There's nothing more to it you freaking idiots.

    • Posted By: CommonJoe @ 10/23/2008 1:12:06 AM

I beg to differ and I will not call you an idiot. ACORN spokesperson says and I quote " WE NEED OBAMA AND OBAMA NEEDS US." Maxine Water's comments about President Bush in a recent ACORN rally which I will not repeat. Please, ACORN is corrupt and even the left leaning NBC, ABC, and CBS are having to confront ACORN as an issue.

Barack Hussein Obama will turn the United States into the Marxist States and Rev Wright , Louis Farrakhan , Bill Ayers , Rev Pflegger , ACORN , Hamas terrorist advocates , will be crawling all over the White House....this can only mean one thing.....the demise of the USA as we know it.

    • Posted By: Cazador1972 @ 10/18/2008 7:51:16 PM

McCain was sooo concerned about Ayers that he decided to wait until three weeks before the election to bring him up.

Do you want to play dirty?
      A) McCain was part of the Keating 5, he was receiving all-expenses-paid vacations from the corrupt man whose business investigation McCain was blocking in congress.
      B) Sara Palin's husband belonged for years to a secessionist party. Sara Palin herself told them she "shared their vision."
      C) Palin was found to have abused the power of her office by a bi-partisan committee in a Republican controlled state congress.
      D) Cindy McCain was a drug addict who stole drugs from her own charity.
      E) McCain sought and got the endorsement of a known anti-Catholic nut, Rev. Hagee.
      F) McCain sat on the board of the U.S. Council for World Freedom. The Anti-Defamation League the Council was affiliated with the World Anti-Communist League, the parent organization which ADL said had increasingly become a gathering place, a forum, a point of contact for extremists, racist and anti-Semites."

      Had enough?

      • Posted By: CommonJoe @ 10/23/2008 1:01:27 AM

Yes, I've had enough of your post. McCain was never charged in any wrong doing with concern to Keating and has your local politician ever gone a paid vacation by on of his constituents? I think it's sad Cindy McCain became addicted to pain medicine. Did Barack sell the cocaine he was also admittedly using? Hillary's camp seemed to suggest so. I like John Hagee. If you read the Bible and listen to his sermons, you know he has some points. The Bible speaks of the Great Whore on 5 mountains. Vatican City is called the city on 5 mountains. Read your Bible, it's a great read. I could go on but I think everyone has the point. Good luck.

LOL! Now you are justifying Palin's desire for sessecion???!!! : D
There was a fringe group in Txas that wanted to secede about 20 years ago but they are all in jail. Then again, you attack me personally because you know that what I stated is true and you have no valid answer for them, so you revert to acting like a 15 year old. What a jackass!

I can only imagine the right wing if it was Obama who had belonged to a group that wanted to secede from the US not 10 years ago. The irony is that it was Palin attacking Obama for not being patriotic enough! Actually, imagine the outrage if it had been one of Obama's daughters getting pregnant out of wedlock and not Palin's daughter. These people's hypocrisy know no bounds.

    SCARE TACTICS

The closer we get to Nov 4th, the more McCain???s campaign sounds like Bush politics. Bush used scare tactics to get us in the Iraq war. McCain uses scare tactics to try to scare votes his way. They both have one thing in common, the tactic was false. Are scare politics the only platform the Republicans know how to run on?

SPREAD THE WEALTH - SOCIALIST PROGRAM FOR THE RICH

Answer to McCain's rally speech on "Obama wants to take your wallet, your money and spread it around". Under eight years of Bush/McCain Policy the wealth was spread to the wealthiest Americans while middle class America's income went down by $1200. McCain wants to spread the wealth to the wealthiest while giving nothing back to those who work for a living. The current economic verdict is in ??? we had eight years of Bush policy that took care of Wall St while Main St paid the price. Enough!

    • Posted By: CommonJoe @ 10/22/2008 10:57:22 PM

It sounds like you suffer from jealousy. Commonly known as wealth envy. I've done well under Bush. My economy has really expanded and I'm not wealthy. I'm glad there are wealthy people. I've never gotten a job from a poor person. Maybe you need to look within yourself and release the jealousy. Start taking pride in your work and maybe you to can get ahead like me.

      • Posted By: CharInOhio @ 10/22/2008 11:14:00 PM

I agree CommonJoe....I have very little....I am now disabled, and no I am NOT on SS or SSI....but on a private plan I PAID into while working....pension...which will be taxed under Obama's plan as its invested money, the pension itsself that is....I already PAY taxes on it myself.....its all FULLY taxable, every dime of it to me here.....However....I cannot see, nor did I ever see that I deserved the WEALTH of SOMEONE ELSE that was NOT mine to be had....yes....envious perhaps....but, never did I feel like it was within my "rights" to have their wealth REGARDLESS of HOW they got it.... I was never rich...the most I ever made on a job was $10.05 an hour, mind you that was a CIVIL SERVICE job that I had to compete with others to get, and get a VERY high score on tests to be chosen for....then the regular interview process ect....it wasn't an automatic job ....the high test score that is....you still went thru the regular process as you do any other job.....I was there for 8 years....and made ten dollars per hour.....

People do NOT understand that when they tax big business ect....they only pass that COST ONTO YOU in goods and services.....so YOU wind up paying HIGHER TAXES ....they are ONLY CALLED SOMETHING ELSE.....HIGHER PRICES.....and you are right.....You do NOT get jobs from poor people....another thing people cannot seem to grasp......

    To Cazador1972

Ok so let remind the pin-heads out there about why in a bad situation drastic measures... many which we distain may have to be used.
Take your finger and click the keyboard and google JAKE and C.H. Butcher. What will you find???
Well in the 1980's a strong Democrat leaning family, (by the by Jake ran for Tennesse governor in Tennessee) , operated a very large banking system. The depositors in this were screwed over by these liberal corrupt SOB's. Due to faulty loans, poor uninsured accounts, and embezellng to benefit the Butchers and their democcratic cronies hundreds of thousands of depositors lost everything! Their baks and the banks affiliated with them went south KAPUT! Don't believe me pin-head liberals look it up fools. On top of that the money these corrupt bofoons embezeled was squirreled away in places like the Grand Caymans out of reach of the goverment to seize it in the bankruptsy fall out. Does any of this ring a bell with the current crisis??? HELLO Fannie Freddie Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Barack Obama. Yes Bush is taking portions of the current failed banks into control to keep history from repeating itself. And in his own words this is only a temporary thing until the system levels out. And by the way to ensure loans can still be made to companies and individuals to help normalize the state of the economy. Drastic YES, unavoidable not now that corrupt liberals thwarted addressing the issues of Fannie and Freddie, when McCain and the republicans warned of the impending problem and wanted to head this off. But I'm sure in your narrow-minded, short-sightedness, you can find some way to diss anyone who dives in, and takes the control of a crisis situation that threatens our nation as being some how wrong and irresponsible. Idiots!!!

    • Posted By: Cazador1972 @ 10/18/2008 11:12:12 PM

What does your rambling, poorly written post have to do specifically with Obama? McCain had ties to Charles Keating and Savings and Loans. Do you have a point to make without insulting those who disagree with you? You do realize you sound like you don't have a point.

      • Posted By: CommonJoe @ 10/23/2008 12:23:24 AM

        McCain was exhonorated.

      • Posted By: Scooter2beatbigoil @ 10/18/2008 11:47:32 PM

Yeah my point is why isn't anyone bringing to issue that while the current administration is doing what they can to fix the problem, stop the hemmoraging, and get the recovering underway. The corrupt democrats wanted to rip-off the U.S, citizens, with the first bailout plan by writing in a clause that diverted the first returning funds to be sent to ACORN to the tune of $200 million. You see they couldn't care less about balancing a budget or ending corruption. They would rather send taxpayer's monies to corrupt radical organizations that helped to create this debacle in the first place. Had not bernacke , McCain and the republicans balked at the first plan (scam) taxpayers would have been ripped off AGAIN!
Yes I have a point...why doesn't mainstream media report that Sen. Dodd is the #1 receiver of kickbacks from Fannie and Freddie... but give him credit it took him well over twenty years to obtain that position. Barak Obama has reacvhed #3 in only three years. Yeah I gotta point... does America still have disdain for corrupt politians? Or are we so brainwashed by the liberal media that corrupt politicians seem the norm?
Keating 5??? McCain was exonerated by DEMOCRATS on the panel looking into Keating..."as having done nothing wrong". So why do you whiney butt liberal cry babies still whip that old dog? Because it';s the only old dog you can kick! Now here is something to mull over too... Tony Resko! Remember him? Baracks good old buddy, political contributor and neighbor. The guy who got him the sweetheart deal on that prime property deal well below market value. Barack doesn't have to worry his home isn't worth the buying value! Ever notice that it has been quiet in Chicago since his being found guilty of corruption charges of bribing politicians. and the court is sitting on his sentencing till after the election, because he is offering his information on certain politicians "on-the-take". Why wait? Name Names! Or could it be the Chicago Democrats want to suppress this till after the election for political purposes. HELLO...WHITEWATER!

sub-prime loans to people who had no means or ntention of paying them back. I'd like to say,
by the way... it really made me want to reach through the TV creen and rip Barney Frank's fat *** head off when he was confronted by Bill O'Reilly. And asked to admit that he (Frank) and the other liberals that benefited from kickbacks off Fannie and Freddie. And their stonewalling to keep oversight and reform from being implemented before all this could happen.

Obama Smeared hisself this time... He stated the fact of is socialist ideas (any questions now about whether Ayers was an influence?). But we who know what is agenda is all ready knew. But now those that don't read or research and rely soley on TV for info are getting a preinagural glimpse of the real Senator Obama/ Marx Headroom ! And it's starting to already leave a bad taste in their mouths. Expect many voters to do what they do to survive.... tell a pollster what you think will get them off the phone, then go in the booth and vote your wallet. If Obama wins we know what the reality is, 'hold on to your wallet' till 2012 when America will be so sick of Socialism, there will be a political Tsunami of a conservative backlash!

Ohh, and by the way, here is a transcript of Palin's interview with Sean Hannity.

PALIN: "Certainly it is a mess though, the economy is a mess. And there have been abuses on Wall Street and that adversely affects Main Street.

And it's that commitment that John McCain is articulating today, getting in there, reforming the way that Wall Street has been allowed to work, stopping the abuses and that violation of the public trust that too many CEOs and top management of some of these companies, that abuse there has got to stop.
It is, somebody was saying this morning, a toxic waste there on Wall Street, affecting Main Street. And we've got to cure this."

      HANNITY: "Through reform?"

PALIN: "Through reform, absolutely. Look at the oversight that has been lax, I believe, here it's a 1930s type of regulatory regime overseeing some of these corporations. And we've got to get a more coordinated and a much more stringent oversight regime. Not that government is going to be solely looked to for the answers in all of the problems in Wall Street, but government can play a very, very appropriate role in the oversight as people are trusting these companies with their life savings, with their investments, with their insurance policies and construction bonds and everything else. When we see the collapse that we're seeing today, you know that something is broke and John McCain has a great plan to get in there and fix it."

I don't know about you, but isn't this "regulation" against the Reaganism you love? Isn't this PRECISELY why the right wing is attacking Obama for? Does ANYONE in the McCain campaign realizes this woman contradicts herself and McCain constantly?

      • Posted By: CommonJoe @ 10/22/2008 11:49:58 PM

You left words out of the xscript. Palin said abuses on Wall Street and in DC. Don't act like Andrea Mitchell and leave words out.

That's interesting because it was Bush's idea to socialize the banking industry and McCain VOTED FOR IT!!!

      • Posted By: kimmee111 @ 10/20/2008 2:55:26 PM

Nine banks is hardly all of them, anyway. Let us not forget we voted in a democratic congress to reign in our leader. . .and they too have failed the american people. The bail out was a stupid idea, and not thought out. As if one sweeping influx of money is going to solve years of unsecured debt or top heavy loans. The american people were screaming "DO SOMETHING" and they did. We will have to deal with poor choices of they ENTIRE government, not just one party.

    • Posted By: CommonJoe @ 10/22/2008 11:18:12 PM

Jack, Joe the plumber doesn't make 250K. He wants to make 250K. I'm sure if you apply yourself more productively and end the hate you too could one day own your own business. Hang in there Jack. McCain will not tax you quiet as hard as Barack.

You sound hurt. Did you lose some money. I've done really well under President Bush as I will under President McCain. I hope you feel better. Such anger.

  • Posted By: pekopper @ 10/18/2008 1:57:46 PM

I wish we could live in a Socialist State. Unfortunately for all of us, Obama's no Socialist. But in reality McCain's campaign is the one that screwed up for choosing this incompetent barking dog as a running mate! Get 10 Right Wingers in a room. Whichever one tells me he has confidence in Palen tells me that person's a liar and can't be trusted. It's really not that hard. They screwed up with a loudmouth moron.

    • Posted By: CommonJoe @ 10/22/2008 11:12:34 PM

I get the feeling that you hate Sarah Palin? Hating really isn't that uncommon for Democrats. I don't think I've ever met a happy one. Good luck out there though.

  • Posted By: Anna_Gray @ 10/18/2008 2:02:31 PM

McCain may say that he's not G.W. Bush but he campaigns just like him- at least here in Florida.

In 2004, I got robocalls about Swiftboat (character assasination about something that didn't really happen 40 years ago) and phony "pollsters" that smeared Kerry. I had late-term abortion flyers left on my doorstep.

It's 2008, and I've had 17 robocalls in two days, mostly about Ayres (character assasination about a tangential relationship Obama has with someone who committed a crime 40 years ago), plus phony pollsters asking "Knowing that OBama is a Muslim, how has that affected your vote?"

I'm sick of it. I'm just ashamed to be a Republican. I thought McCain was a better man, but whatever good in him is utterly gone and he's another Bush.

A couple of months ago, I never thought I would have voted for Obama but I just filled out my absentee ballot for McCain. And he can blame no one but himself -- and the Bush Administration for nearly destroying our country.

    • Posted By: CommonJoe @ 10/22/2008 11:09:49 PM

Well that is a good sign for all of us McCain supporters because if I remember correctly and correct me if I'm wrong but President Bush won those elections. Thanks for the upbeat message.

THE WAR IS HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE. AND IT IS SO SAD THAT THE MEDIA IS VIRTURALLY IGNORING THE WAR, AND DOING NOTHING BUT PLAYING UPON EVERY WORD THEY CAN ABOUT THIS ELECTION. I WISH THAT THE MEDIA WOULD SHOW THAT THEY CARE. FOCUS ON THE WAR, AND LET US SEE SHOW WHY WE NEED TO BRING OUR MILITARY OUT OF THIS TERRIBLE SITUATION CALLED WAR. UNNECESSARY WAR.

If America is going to fight its way out of a worldwide economic crisis that has people fearful of losing not only their homes but also their jobs, and fearful of unending war, then it must have better leadership than it has had the past eight years.
While John McCain also promises "change," it''s hard to believe that''s possible from someone who, by his own admission, has voted with Bush 90 percent of the time. mostly, he and Bush have been on the same page.McCain credit for supporting the successful "surge" of additional U.S. troops to Iraq. But McCain opposes a timetable for leaving Iraq, something even the Iraqi government wants. Obama wants a reasonable timetable for withdrawal, coordinated to protect U.S. troops, that would allow our focus to shift to the Afghanistan/Pakistan border area, where Osama bin Laden is holed up.One of the most persistent deceptions in this campaign is McCain''s claim that Obama proposes "painful tax increases on working American families." Obama would raise income taxes on households earning more than $250,000 per year. Most households - 81 percent - would receive a tax cut. The nonpartisan Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center has calculated that households earning between $37,595 and $66,354 a year would save $1,118 on their taxes annually under Obama''s plan. McCain''s proposal would save those same families, on average, $325.

    • Posted By: CommonJoe @ 10/22/2008 11:08:02 PM

Don't forget, Barack Hussein Obama voted just last year to raise taxes on people making $42K and over. If you think he is going to follow through on that tax break, I have some swamp land I would like to sell you. Do you remember Bill Clinton promising tax cuts, I do and I never saw the cuts. Good luck and look at some facts sometime.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news to all you socialist fearing twits, but what do you think the bailout package for wall street is. Personally I think "socialist democracy" has a nice ring to it.. We're already past the point of no return,at least for awhile. McCain WILL BE MORE of what got us here. Before you start calling me all those bad names please at least do a little research and you might find out the dirty "S" word is not as dirty or foreign as you may think. I'm an Independent voter and have voted Republican in the past and may vote that way again in future elections, but not this year. The pendulum has swung to far to one side and like it or not we cannot continue in the same direction and expect to be in anything but total ruin in a few more years. Neither party has made this country great but rather the constant tugging back and forth between the two is what has maintained balance. It's really not reasonable to think you can pretty much do the same things for another four years and expect different results.

I think it is a bandaid that can be taken off once the real estate markets rebound. Unless the leftist try to super glue the bandaid or put a cast on a scratch so they can pay off there usual cronies. I've never gotten an interest free loan like Barney Frank and Christopher Dodd. Take deep breaths and relax. This cronyism will be ended with McCain
