???Nowforsomethingotherthanthetruth??? exemplifies the measures employed by the McCain campaign starting with the anonymous smear emails that began when McC hired the Bush propaganda machine.

This deception campaign tries to benefit from party loyalties. It preys upon hate, prejudice and fear, and on the ???unanswered questions??? fabricated by the anonymous emails this campaign perpetrated. Links to debunks of many of those fabrications are in an earlier posting.

This is by far the greatest extreme ever in American politics. It is a fundamental threat to our political process. It would further entrench the Bush operatives who took over the McC campaign, and the republican lobbyists who represent only the megarich who looted our economy.

McC was a maverick. He promised to root out the lobbyists he said are what???s wrong with Washington. He said he would not take the low road employed by the Bush machine when it smeared him. He sold out when he got behind and subscribed to the ideology that the end justifies the means.

McC would continue the Bush tax give away to the rich that McC previously opposed and called ???irresponsible??? because ???it only benefits the rich.???

McC now wants to give more billions in tax give aways to oil companies that have just reported the largest profits in history for two consecutive quarters, while he claims that lowering taxes for everyone under $250k in after-deduction income will somehow keep businessmen from starting businesses.

???Nowfor??? has employed many of the themes in the anonymous viral emails. He recently said it was ???revealed that Obama has PLO buddies??? referring to Rashid Khalidi to whom McC donated $440k:

    http://richmonddemocrat.blogspot.com/2008/10/mccain-funded-rashid-khalidi.html Guilt by association.

"Nowfor" continues repasting that the cause of our problem is a law decades old that encourages loans to qualified low income people.

Alan Greenspan said the cause is that an entire financial system was built outside of regulation; "we trusted" these self-interested looters ???to regulate themselves???. Credit Default Swaps resulted. They increased from $106 trillion in '02 to $531 trillion under R stewardship.

The legitimate news has reported that Fannie and Freddie paid many millions to McC's campaign manager, Rick Davis, who received up to $35K/mo. from Fannie and Freddie from 2000 to while he has been McC's campaign manager.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/22/us/politics/22mccain.html and http://www.newsweek.com/id/164732/page/1

Trillions were looted from our economy because the Rs allowed it. The Rs, including McC's campaign manager, are in the pockets of big money.

Without solutions, it is necessary to campaign with deception, misdirection, fear, smears, hypocrisy.

Attempts to hijack our political process with deceit and abuse of the trust of party loyalties are reasons I'm voting for Obama after 40 years of never voted for a Dem.

The Wall Street crisis was planned the night of Obama's meeting at Bill Ayres home to put Obama in The White House. Together they put a beautiful plan into place.

This Strategy was first elucidated in the 1966 issue of 'The Nation' Magazine by a pair of radical Socialist Columbia University professors, Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven.

    David Horowitz summarizes it as:

"The strategy of forcing political change through an orchestrated crisis. The "Cloward-Piven Strategy" seeks to hasten the fall of Capitalism by overloading the Government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.
    unquote

Obama begin with ACORN by funneling millions into their organization. He then trained ACORN to stage protests in banks to force them to issue risky loans or they would be threatened to face racial charges. ACORN was trained to intimidate financial institutions into giving ???Ninja??? loans to people with NO assets, NO job and NO income, who couldn???t afford these loans.

That caused the housing bubble two years ago it was by ACORN's actions they were able to destroy our credit system.

As this played out, D-Barney Frank and D-Chris Dodd were able to cover up the millions of improvident loans to these bad risky house buyers. And Barney Frank and his chums successfully were able to block all of President Bush's attempts to put a rein on this problem.

So Fannie & Freddie was forced to purchase all these failed subprime mortgages.

Then both Frank and Dodd denied that there were any problems, and refused the Bush Admin. requests to set up a regulatory agency to watch over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and they were still pushing for these agencies to go even further in promoting sub-prime mortgage loans almost up to the 'minute they failed'.

Democrats then blamed Bush saying it happened on his watch knowing it would hurt the Republican Party in the election setting it up that Barack Obama could use this to his advantage.

Karl Marx once compared a Revolutionary struggle with the work of the mole, who sometimes burrows so far beneath the ground that he leaves no trace of his movement on the surface.

Barack Obama is that Marxist mole !

    Kelo v. City of New London, 545 U.S. 469 (2005),
What does redistributive mean. Well, remember that it was the liberal Left-Wing Justices of the U.S. Supreme Court that brought us this little jewel, holding that the government could take your real property, like your home, not for public use like a road or school, but to give to another private individual, such as a political contributor or other party hack or interest group.
Kelo v. City of New London, 545 U.S. 469 (2005), was a case decided by the Supreme Court of the United States involving the use of eminent domain to transfer land from one private owner to another to further economic development. The case arose from the condemnation by New London, Connecticut, of privately owned real property so that it could be used as part of a comprehensive redevelopment plan. The Court held in a 5-4 decision that the general benefits a community enjoyed from economic growth qualified such redevelopment plans as a permissible "public use" under the Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment. Justice John Paul Stevens wrote the majority opinion; he was joined by Justices Anthony Kennedy, David Souter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer
The decision was widely criticized by American politicians and the general public. Many members of the general public viewed the outcome as a gross violation of property rights and as a misinterpretation of the Fifth Amendment, the consequence of which would be to benefit large corporations at the expense of individual homeowners and local communities. Some in the legal profession construe the public's outrage as being directed not at the interpretation of legal principles involved in the case, but at the broad moral principles of the general outcome.

Watched Fox ???News??? 11/1 for perspective. Got that and some chills.

LIVs have gotten notice lately, but the really scary ones are the Propaganda Dupes.

Paul Gigot was interviewing someone named Dorothy; didn???t get her last name.

    *********

PG: ???We???re back with a look at what???s really at stake, where each candidate really stands. Dorothy, for you what are the really big differences, the defining issues here????

Dorothy: ???The differences are attitudinal and political. Basically: how do you feel about our place in the world. We???ve seen a regular line from Mr. Obama in which he seems to indicate that the opinions of the U.S. held IN THE FASHIONABLE SALONS OF THE LEFT all over Europe, and IN ACADEMIA, and IN THE DARK CHAMBERS OF OUR ENEMIES, are something he understands too well.

???In fact, I suspect we will find a SQUISHY, as some would put it, MULTILATERALISM, AT BEST.???

PG: ???Why can???t McCain exploit that? Because in past elections that would have been a really costly position for a Democrat to take.???

Dorothy: ???He simply has not been willing to say: THIS IS HOW OUR ENEMIES SPEAK.???

PG: ???But Dorothy, if he had said that, the PRESS WOULD JUST HAVE ANNIHILATED HIM!???

Dorothy: ???He [McC] has this weakness, MORAL VANITY, SENSITIVITY. He fears what the press will think of him, instead of understanding it.???

???McCain is so clearly who is not receptive TO THE IDEAS OF OUR ENEMIES.???

???Obama said, the first thing he said was, what will you do when you go abroad: Ah, I will go abroad and make amends TO OUR ENEMIES???to others in the world. He sees us as a fallen nation.???

    **********
    ???Fair and balanced??????

I have seen other manifestations of the propaganda machine in those ubiquitous viral smear emails, but I have now a better appreciation for the vituperation we are seeing from the Propaganda Dupes.

Lord, help us all on Tuesday!

I???m going to take Bass Pro???s idea. I???m going to watch the election coverage on Fox ???News??? Tuesday.

What is most troubling in todays political climate is the promotion of hatred as a philosophy. The emergence of an ultraconservative dogma relies increasingly on the encouragement of mass hostility aimed at one group in particular - Americans with progressive political views. Liberals are spoken of with the kind of dripping contempt and virulent hostility that used to be associated with racism and sectarian religious strife. Liberals are viewed not fellow Americans citizens concerned with the future of their country, but as ideological enemies that need to be destroyed - and eaten if possible. This view is fundamentally anti-American.

This right-wing sect manifests a complete lack of empathy toward other Americans whom it defines as its ideological enemies. Its core beliefs are absolutely impervious to reason and are unleashing ugly and violent impulses. What makes their zeal so dangerous for our country is their willingness to do serious damage to our precious American Democracy in their quest for absolute power.

"Nowforthetruth" is now selling that Obama has PLO buddies referring to an LA Times story about Rashid Khalidi. McCain dropped that when it was disclosed that McC donated $440k to Khalidi.

    See for yourselves at: http://richmonddemocrat.blogspot.com/2008/10/mccain-funded-rashid-khalidi.html

"Nowforthetruth", a little more "truth" about guilt by association....

"Nowforthetruth" also said: "Nins, all you prove is that you have perpetual PMS and cannot read. If you are as careless in your practice, you are a danger to your profession." You reveal too much of yourself "Nowforthetruth".

"Nowforthetruth" continues repasting that the cause of our problem is a law decades old that encourages loans to qualified low income people. "Nowforthetruth" continues to repeat well known deceit.

Alan Greenspan stated recently that the problem was not anything like that. Rather, he stated that an entire financial system was built outside of regulation, and "we trusted" these self-interested looters to regulate themselves. Credit Default Swaps were the result.

Credit Default Swaps increased from $106 trillion in '02 to $531 trillion under the R stewardship. No regulation.

While there are several variations of a viral email that tries to blame a few thousands of political donations to some Ds, the actual, legitimate news has reported that Fannie and Freddie paid many millions to Republican lobbyists to lobby Rs, only, to PREVENT REGULATION.

McCain's campaign manager, Rick Davis, received up to $35K/mo. from Fannie and Freddie from 2000 to present, to lobby Rs,only, against regulation. Freddie paid Rick Davis while he has been McC's campaign manager. Freddie donated $250k to the R convention.

These facts are everywhere in the legitimate news: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/22/us/politics/22mccain.html and http://www.newsweek.com/id/164732/page/1 There's much more legitimate news on this.

Trillions were looted from our economy because the Rs allowed it. It is inescapable that the Rs, most prominently McC's campaign manager, were in the pockets of big money while they drove the buss off the cliff with us in it.

You can try to distract people with fears about 'those guys'. Lies, distortion, deception. 'Socialist' is only the last in a long, now desperate, list of labels you have tried to pin on 'that one'. That's all you have left.

Is your most recent reposting here directed to fears about "Socialism", or is it just innuendo, or are we trying to fold in a little racism too?

Since we have no more ideas, let's keep running our campaign on fear, smears and hypocrisy.

Keep talking "Nowforthetruth", you're really helping. You keep demonstrating that we all have to vote against lies and propaganda and attempts to hijack our political process with deceit. Your actions are the kinds of reasons that I'm voting for Obama after 40 years of never havin

According to CNN, even Arizona is now a toss-up state. How humiliating for Senator McCain. He put his campaign and his reputation in the hands of common liars and crooks, and Sarah Palin is making an ass of him. Her Florida rallies today did not have his name on any of the signs, banners or literature. And the website listed on all the lit was www.GOP.com. Ouch!

Has anyone noticed that Obama seems to be catching up in Arizona? And he is doing better than expected in Texas. McCain may loose his home state.

    • Posted By: Vypurr @ 11/01/2008 10:19:10 AM

Obama is forcing McCain to spend what little he has left there to prevent him from losing his home state so that he won't spend it in Ohio and Pennsylvania where Obama is vulnerable. Nice deal for Obama, he has dumpsters full of money to do this because he lied his ass off to McCain, Clinton and the rest of America when he flipped on taking private money.

Jon Meacham argues that the United States is a center-right nation that tends to elect Republicans to the White House. But during the period of Republican presidential ascendancy, we???ve had mostly Democratic congresses, suggesting a center-left nation. What does it mean that a voter prefers a Republican president and a Democratic representative or senator?

This may be more a matter of social psychology than of ideology. While Americans have a deeply patriotic, traditional and libertarian streak, they also want progress, change, increasing democratization and reinvention. Schizophrenic voter preferences???for Republicans in presidents but Democrats in legislators???reflect both tendencies, which together comprise a paradox at the heart of American character. At the founding of the nation, many conservatives would have preferred to have a King George rather than a President Washington. That throwback to a pre-republican sensibility suggests how our presidents have always symbolically embodied for us our most traditional sense of national identity. The president???s policies and principles are important, but s/he is also important to us as a quasi-royal embodiment of the national self. We invest our feelings of identity and safety more with the president than with our legislative representatives, whom we elect to invent solutions to problems and make progress in national policy.

The Republican presidential political playbook appeals to our existential fears and national identity more effectively than the Democrats???. The Democratic presidential playbook during the recent Republican dominance of the White House has tended to emphasize policy. These existential and patriotic themes resonate most vibrantly in the center-right, and Americans look more to the executive branch of government for assurance in these matters. The Republican run in presidential politics may be more a matter of political and sociological savvy in catering to these primal needs, in contrast to the Democrats??? inattentiveness on this score, than of where the fulcrum-center is in our political spectrum.

A good part of the political talent of Barack Obama consists in neutralizing this Republican advantage, and that political talent dovetails with a potential for ingenious statecraft, inasmuch as he and his advisors seem to understand the symbolic function of the presidency as well as their Republican counterparts. He cedes no advantage to the Republicans on national identity and religious faith. His campaigning provides assurance to the nation???s psyche, despite Republican attempts to paint him as the un-American other. His assuring bearing in symbolic and psychic politics will allow him to govern from and nudge the public toward the center-left, leaving citizens??? national pride intact, appealing not to fear, but instead to hope (much as Reagan did, by the way) and massaging the electorate toward a more inclusive, less divisive, less jingoistic patriotism.

This article makes a lot of sense. The country is center-right. That's why this election is so perplexing and Obama if he does prevail in November will just be a passing fancy. However, let us not forget that Obama got rid of Hillary and with her Billary as well. Obama did what no conservative could have done, yet he advanced the conservative agenda in this arena.

So we may end up with a black President but one who seems to run away from his blackness (Jeremiah Wright) etc. And let us not forget that he is half white. One of my cousins reminded me of this fact when justifying her impending vote for him. Although she admitted he father would be turning over in his grave at such an infidelity! So just how deep is the support for Obama among white people? I don't think it runs very deep and I doubt he will get more than 35% of the white vote. I think a lot of white people are lying to pollsters when they say they will vote for him.

I believe in equal opportunity and my only test when voting is to vote for the person furthest to the right. Of course this doesn't leave too much opportunity to vote for black people but I would vote for Alan Keyes who is a black conservative if he were running for President on the Republican line. However, I do know a lot of conservative whites who state they would never vote for a black person for President.

Is the conservative white impulse to be uncomfortable with a black or a woman for that matter in the White House purely racist or sexst? I think not since most conservative whites do believe in fairness and merit principles. Let us bear in mind that the President has three roles, head of the executive branch, head of state and Commander-in-Chief. Many people are uncomfortable with a woman in the role of Commander-in-Chief when women are not allowed to be in combat and with a black man as head of a predominately white state. I think this is the real reason why many white conservatives don't want to see Obama in the White House.

    • Posted By: Nins @ 10/21/2008 3:06:23 PM

You state as prof that you would vote for a black man the fact that you would vote for Alan Keyes if he ran for President? Even Dubya Bush says Keyes is " a piece of work," referring to the fact that his politics are so radical that even a right winger like Bush can't stand him.

Could you be one of those people who a few weeks ago said "I would vote for a black -- if Colin Powell ran I would vote for him," yet now are running down General Powell since he has decided to support Obama. Oh, yeah, now Powell is voting on the basis of skin color. Last month he was a great patriot.

While I appreciate the honesty of what you shared in this blog, Paul, I have to say you managed to expose yourself as a racist who thinks that he isn't one.

      Poor you.

With polls showing a tightening race for the White House, it looks like the Catholic vote again may be crucial to the outcome.
And an Oct. 23 poll records a startling 20-point swing this week among Catholic voters in favor of John McCain.
The IBD/TIPP daily tracking poll found Republican candidate McCain ahead of Democratic presidential candidate 48%-39% among the Catholics in its survey.
The shift was part of a strong overall swing toward McCain in the IBD/TIPP poll.
???McCain has cut into Obama???s lead for a second day and is now just 1.1 points behind. The spread was 3.7 Wednesday and 6.0 Tuesday,??? a press release stated. ???The Republican is making headway with middle- and working- class voters, and has surged 10 points in two days among those earning between $30,000 and $75,000. He has also gone from an 11-point de???cit to a 9-point lead among Catholics.???

    Time FOR SOME STRAIGHT TALK!!
Okay, I'm a Republican by ideology. In fact, I???m a rare breed of Republican ??? I???m highly educated, smart, insightful, successful and very cultured.
I???m QUESTIONING that out of all great GOP leaders in our party, the BEST CHOICE was McCain ? And Palin?
McCain is an OLD fool that does not seem to be in his right mind. McCain cannot even keep his own set of lies straight, or even seem to know where or what he is doing at present !
And for his judgment, just one word ??? Palin!
    Come on, Palin !
Palin is a train wreck; SPIN any which way you want she is a HUGH mistake!
Palin is an embarrassment to professional women, the state of Alaska, the GOP and to America.
Is this the BEST my party can do?
WHO EVER is running the show at the GOP, needs his/her head examined?
AND FOR THE RECORD G.W.Bush is much more qualified to be president than McCain or Palin !
Bush was just a little stupid, and that???s not a crime in America, because if being stupid was a crime then 93% of people in America should be locked up !
One final word, I cannot believe that the GOP has become so BADLY misguided that the ONLY SUPPORTERS we really have are the WACKOS and FREAKS !
Only a couple of years ago, those were the types of people we called Democrats, and NOW there are Republicans ??? the losers of society !
Colin Powell, my apologies, I was anger at you, but NOW I understand you !

This is real simple economics. How many full-time employees with benefits does a person with a $50,000 income personally employ? For most, none. How many does a person with $250,000 employ? One less under Obama's tax plan, two less if you include Obam's health plan.

Joe Biden, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, faced tough and critical questions from a reporter at the Orlando station, the Orlando Sentinel reported. In a communication which serves to put all other media on notice that an Obama administration will exercise media blackmail in response to tough questioning, the Obama camp killed a WFTV interview with Biden's wife Jill, according to an Orlando Sentinel blog.

"This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election," wrote Laura K. McGinnis, Central Florida communications director for the Obama campaign, according to the Sentinel.
