Palin talks about 'pro-American' parts of the country and 'real

Americans.' McCain talks about the 'real Virginia.' These code words show

us the true colors of their campaign. The Palin/McCain ticket's ugly philosophy of exclusion and division can and should be compared to the Obama/Biden ticket of inclusion and union. The Obama campaign shows us what an Obama presidency will look like, where Americans will be encouraged to put aside the tired old hateful wedge issues and to unify once again for the common good. A president should pull us together and not tear us apart. Have we learned nothing from the Cheney/Rove/Bush years?

Why author thinks that consrvators have tendency to by racicts ("to be conservative is not necessarily to be racist ...")? As I remember, ALL notorious racists (including Walles and KKK) were Democrats. Can point me a single Republican racist? But please, don't repeat old mambo-jambo that Republicans are against poor people and therefore against majority of blacks, whateve good or bad it is - it is not racism.

The premise of the article is dead wrong: On self identification, which is suoerficial rests the artocles premise. But in issue-by-issue, this country is dlearly and definitive center/left/left. Obama would not know how to govern from any pole of the electorate but, given his intellectual discipline and history, will take isuue per issue, gather the expertise and make decisions in the country's interest.

It seems to me that you have overlooked two profound events-eras in your article that have had a 50 year impact on our American republic. The civil rights movement and its enourmous accomplishments and the Vietnam war with its destruction on our own society. These two events, or eras if you will, profoundly divided our nation. We are still mopping up the blood from both of these. If Obama is elected it may finally signal a new era that can move on from those socially wrenching times. Turning the page and moving on gives us the opportunity to build a new progressive era that combines respect for the best in our culture and attempts to change the worst hopefully for the better. It is the hope we all had once before in a more innocent political time. Perhaps now is the time. I certainly hope so.

I already voted - for the Mighty One - OBAMA !! He WILL support Kenya, not as much Israel ! It's about time for a real change in our government and where our tax dollars go.

The nation was exposed to two brutal presidential campaigns from the GOP! Basically if you dont vote for the GOP you will be attacked, killed, murdered. Here comes the mushroom cloud, gas attacks and on and on.
So this our center righ nation? A paralyzed culture in shock - frozen with such life-threatening policies. If we
dont have wars such as Iraq we are not safe. Theres another word for this current culture- its fascism plain and simple! The GOP shouldn???t be running for yet another term they should be running to escape getting lynched!

If McCain wins be prepared to grab your ankles...
Democracy as we know it will slide into the ditch. We will continue our journey as "a police state" to the world. The middle class will continue losing its equity/education hence they will become third world citizens- another Mexico!

With all the ringing endorsements from profound authors/writers, the nations newspapers, the U.S. military, Americas fireman and policemen it amazing to me that centrists/independents could even be thinking about the GOP party! The GOP has shown nothing but disdain, hate and fear. I could be writing these words about Bush or Mccain, the truth is- this message fits them both equally!

    A microcosm of McCain Arizona-
near last in the union with health care...
near dead last in public education...
a right to work state- this means you are underpaid for your work and skill and you overpay for the bad quality of health care.
    Sound familiar?

In 26 years of legislative work Mccain never once worked, sponsored or pushed for the science and or implementation of sustainable energy/solar even though Arizona has the most potential of any state in the union for such programs!
He did bring gambling to the Nations/reservations of Arizona.
McCain never met a war he didn???t vote for.
Ugly, you darn right its ugly!

lets stop deviding and remember where we live, if we are truely Americans we can discauss the issues that concern us without hate and division, keep to the facts and open our hearts as well as our minds to new ideas and possibilities. Maybe we don't really "know everything".

Political affiliation is formed by early adult life and remains stable throughout the lifetime for nearly all of us. So, if you are coming of age in an era where one party is lookin' good and the other smells to high heaven, you are more likely to stay with that party in your life. That is why the Democrats did so well for so many years following the Great Depression. That is why the Republicans have done so well following the Reagan era. But now, we've got a situation where we have 8 years of positive Democratic rule under Clinton, 8 years of horrible Republican rule under Bush, and now 8 years of positive rule under Obama coming. That is 24 years of positve influence toward young voters, which will shape the politics of this country for this century. It is no surprise that Obama is beating McCain more than 2:1 among those under 30.

Even a center right nation can benefit from an Obama administration. He is steadier than John McCain in bothdomestic and international issues and he doesn't have the albatross of a Sarah Pailin around his neck. His election would spare us a calamity. And what good does it fo the wealthy to avoid a slight increase in their income taxes if their net worth continues to plummet? Even the middle class has taken heavy hits in their IRAs, 401(k)s, and other savings.

  • Posted By: Reverend Smooth @ 10/19/2008 1:33:46 PM

I'm not sure that the US is center-right anymore. Between wanting more government oversight of corporations, and universal healthcare, that's a fairly leftward trend.

Check out this site! Nebraska university cancells Ayers trip there !!!

UNL???s invitation to Ayers ??? a founder of Weather Underground, the group that claimed responsibility for the bombings of public buildings in protest of the Vietnam War ??? represented poor judgment from the start, Hassebrook said.

???My concern has been not with what he was going to say about education. It was that he???s an unrepentant terrorist,??? he said. ???(UNL) did the right thing.???
This is Obama's friend, people are catching on to who Obama really is and what he really stands for!!

The McCain camp has given up on this smear already. Didn't you get the memo?
I do sympathize though, its hard to keep up with such an erratic campaign..

More smears? OF the 800,000 about 80,000 went to ACORN for voter registration efforts. Did some of the homeless employed by ACORN fill out false forms. It appears so. Despicable. This is called voter registration fraud, and not voter fraud. Huge difference. Voter fraud is as bad as voter supression.
Bottom line, some lazy irresponsible people seem to have cheated and filled out some forms with bogus names. No one is or should defend these illegal actions. But to somehow insinuate that the Obama campaign was in any way orchestrating these efforts is of course slanderous and stupid.
Let me give a simple analogy for the benefit of those of you who are on FOX. If I give the neighbor's kid five bucks to pick up a bag of apples and he decides to shoplift the apples and pocket the fiver, how am i to blame? Of course, Rush and Sean would 'report' the disjointed facts of my giving the kid five bucks and the act of shoplifting and try to connect the two with sleazy innuendo and ZERO proof, that's what they do. It is up to the thinking public to see this for what it is, yet another desperate another smear and distraction.

To all of the conservatives out there who think that Obama is a flaming liberal, I would like to remind you of what he did when he was elected President of the Harvard Law Review. The Law Review President gets to name ten individuals to write articles for the Review, and these ten people get to control the content of the publication. All of the minorities and the liberals thought they finally had it made, that Obama would appoint ten left wing editors. Instead, Obama appointed three conservatives, three liberals and four moderates. That year the Law Review was critically acclaimed as the best run and best written Harvard publication in decades.

So when he wins in November, conservatives don't have to freak out. Obama is a centrist and will appoint a balanced cabinet full of active people who will really get things done. Kind of like the way our multi-cultural society is supposed to be. And exactly what we need in this time of economic crisis.

Obama is a spread -the-wealth-around Marxists who surounds himself with fellow travelers. Biden, for example, and Ayers.
Others include the US news media which also runs an Americans Suck First campaign on the same model of the DNC and Obama!
In fact , the big dispute between Obama and hillary was about who would most be qualified to wage the Americans Suck First campaign from the Oval Office in the White House the way Bill clinton did for 8 years!
And America saw a racist Hillary and sexist Obama going at it! Befor the nation and the world.
No suprise scince the Americans Suck first campaign is a collection of discrimination campaigns targeting Achievers, gun owners, christians, police and military professionals acrossed the country...to include the Boy Scouts.

Why is Barack Obama giving ACORN $832,000 when it is a tax dead beat? (Hat tip to an intrepid NoQuarter reader.) Before Obama and Biden cast any more stones at poor Joe the Plumber for a $1200 tax lien, they might want to insist that their buddies at ACORN pony up the HALF-MILLION DOLLARS they owe the Federal Government. That???s right boys and girls, according to Louisiana State financial records, ACORN is a mega deadbeat:

Truly sad how the GOP candidates will do anything but talk about our nation's most serious problems at this current. I now fully understand why John MCCAIN GRADUATED 5th from the BOTTOM OF HIS CLASS and Sarah PALIN had to TRANSFER COLLEGES 5X BEFORE GETTING A 4 YEAR DEGREE! They obviously didn't learn what they needed to while attending school , and to be the next President of the United States. I'll vote for Senators Barack Obama and Joe Biden who actually studied our nation's constitution and actually taught it to college students. All the nonsense fromthe GOP is making Americans see BLUE instead of RED, this time around !!!

Everyone of voting age should read these two books written by Obama, 'Dreams of My Father' and 'Audacity of Hope'. Don't buy them, get them from the library before they are removed from the shelves.

From 'Dreams of My Father', "I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites."

From 'Dreams of My Father', "'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race."

From 'Dreams of My Father', "There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white."

From 'Dreams of My Father', "It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names."

From 'Dreams of My Father', "I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela."

And FINALLY the Most Damning one of ALL of them!!!

From 'Audacity of Hope', "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

Obama's view of the future of America - Socialism which is the next step to Communism!! He admitted to Joe the Plumber than he wanted to spread the wealth! He said that he wanted to make everyone equal! Is America ready for Socialism? The Iranian president, Ahmadinejad, said today that he is glad to see the end to capitalism in America!! Are you glad?????
    ====================================================================================================

Under socialism a ruling class of intellectuals, bureaucrats and social planners decide what people want or what is good for society and then use the coercive power of the State to regulate, tax, and redistribute the wealth of those who work for a living. In other words, socialism is a form of legalized theft.

The morality of socialism can be summed-up in two words: envy and self-sacrifice. Envy is the desire to not only possess another's wealth but also the desire to see another's wealth lowered to the level of one's own. Socialism's teaching on self-sacrifice was nicely summarized by two of its greatest defenders, Hermann Goering and Bennito Mussolini. The highest principle of Nazism (National Socialism), said Goering, is: "Common good comes before private good." Fascism, said
Mussolini, is "a life in which the individual, through the sacrifice of his own private interests??realizes that completely spiritual existence in which his value as a man lies."

Socialism is the social system which institutionalizes envy and self-sacrifice: It is the social system which uses compulsion and the organized violence of the State to expropriate wealth from the producer class for its redistribution to the parasitical class.

Despite the intellectuals' psychotic hatred of capitalism, it is the only moral and just social system.

Capitalism is the only moral system because it requires human beings to deal with one another as traders--that is, as free moral agents trading and selling goods and services on the basis of mutual consent.

Capitalism is the only just system because the sole criterion that determines the value of thing exchanged is the free, voluntary, universal judgement of the consumer. Coercion and fraud are anathema to the free-market system.

It is both moral and just because the degree to which man rises or falls in society is determined by the degree to which he uses his mind. Capitalism is the only social system that rewards merit, ability and achievement, regardless of one's birth or station in life.

Yes, there are winners and losers in capitalism. The winners are those who are honest, industrious, thoughtful, prudent, frugal, responsible, disciplined, and efficient. The losers are those who are shiftless, lazy, imprudent, extravagant, negligent, impractical, and inefficient.
