Excuse me to pieces! I am certain that the last 2 little brats finished at the top of their classes at Harvard.
btw, the varuios schools records are sealed and Michelle had a hate filled paper how successful blacks failed to go back to their roots and spread the thier wealth around to the un employed. More insight into to her and barry's marxist leanings!
i have zero idea about some "black records sealed"... but I "do" know McCain's service records are sealed. Do me a favor... google "songbird McCain". Learn why those who served in the same camp with him hate his guts.
Colin Powell, Warren Buffet, and even Susan Eisenhower, grand daughter of Dwight D. Eisenhower, and life-long Republican is endorsing Obama!
what more FACTS do you need to show that the GOP is overrun by zealot idiots!!!
Love to see McCain finally get truthful about something. It is about time to forget about the hypothetical 'Joe the Plumber' that never dealt with reality and focus on real people and the real issues that bother them. It is great to see McCain say that more of the same is neither going to work nor be acceptable. Desperation has McCain now strongly faulting GWBush and the Bush-Cheney eight year performance. Doesn't he understand that these acts of desperation now at the near end just confirm that the problems were always there, that he ignored them and even supported the actions that caused them and by flip-flopping now, he only confirms that he can't be trusted to do anything to turn anything around? Being McSame for eight years just totally contradicts ever being able to be a real McMaverick!
The Center Right Mantra was invented for those who wanted to get elected without burdening themselves with Bush and McCain. Charlie Crist and Gordon Smith are two examples. Trying to label anyone with left, right or center is a waste of time. Can you be right and not religeous? Can you be left and fiscally frugal? Can you be in the center and be a Born again Christian and be against the war in Iraq?
William F. Buckley's son, Christopher Buckley, who is a conservative Republican like his Dad, is supporting Barack Obama for President.
Christopher Buckley was forced to resign from the right wing National Review over this endorsement. Chris has written a conservative column for years at the National Review, the journal his father founded. Chris has been a poster boy for the Republican party ever since his father, in a 1985 speech to Ronald Reagan, said that his son Christopher lived in a world of freedom thanks to the fact that the USA had not been afraid to use nuclear bombs in Japan and so end WWII.
Twenty three years later, many prominent Republicans, including Christopher Buckley, Kathleen Parker, Susan Eisenhower and Colin Powell have come out in support of Barack Obama. Their primary reason for doing so is that they feel that Obama is the better candidate. But just as importantly, they are concerned by the growing tendency of the GOP to incite the masses based on false charges of terrorism, Muslim roots, etc. These lies feed a dark form of social unrest that is very destructive for America. (Look what it did in Nazi Germany.) They also all pointed to the inadequate choice of Sarah Palin as John's VP. These are prominent right wing Republicans speaking, not liberal Democrats.
And while I am not prominent, I too am a Republican who is voting for Obama.
Christopher Buckley's article about why he decided to support Obama:
http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2008-10-14/sorry-dad-i-was-fired
Christopher Buckley may be a republican in name only, but he is no conservative as his father was. The peopleyou mentioned are rockefeller republicans. New Jersey, unfortunately, is full of republicans such as yourself and is why we were saddled with Jim McGayvey and Jon Corzine for the last 7 yares.
Actually, I met Jon Corzine recently was very favorably impressed. He seems like a man who knows himself. I think that you are lucky to have him in New Jersey.
And I am not a Rockefeller Republican. I'm a conservative Republican with a conscience, one who thinks that the current path of the GOP is not only disastrous for America, but doomed to extinction. I am mad as hell about this. My party was co-opted by some VERY unsavory individuals who have brought down not only the party but the nation. Shame on them. And shame on you for not seeing it.
Furthermore, Christopher Buckley and Kathleen Parker are not moderates. Have you read their writings in the National Review?
Honestly, Rockribs, the more of your posts I read the smaller I think your mind.
Favorably impressed? Now I know that not only are you not a Conservative, but you have no conscience.
he left his wife after 33 years after committing adultery with Carla Katz, living with her and then paying her off.
I only felt lucky to have him, while he was in the hospital for several weeks after a crash in his SUV which was doing 95MPH at his request and he only survived because he was in the back seat with his new "girlfriend".
BTW he has no business being governor or anything else in high office. He may have made his fortune at Golman Sachs, but hee has no idea how to run New Jersey.
PS he chose Edwards as Kerry's running mate. What do they say, Birds of a feather, eh?
Speaking of adultery, ....
Nins, does ridiculing bloggers (saying based on what a blogger says you have to tell them ' the smaller I think your mind..' ) I am still trying to figure out what you gain by ridiculing a person for expressing their views. I know you are passionate about Obama winning as POTUS, but attacking a person cuz you dont like their view by telling them they have a smaller mind ?). Very unbecoming of you.
It does not matter what the definition of conservative is to any person but yourself. Are you God to tell anyone what they feel, or what is poison? I think everything that comes out of your mouth is poison and I have been a Republican for more than 40 years. People like you are on the fringe of the party. Go ahead and keep mouthing off. You are proving nothing but showing that you are narrow minded, and dogmatic. You think you walk on water, you are sinking by your moronic remarks. Grow up.
40 years or so? Were you a Goldwater Republican? And why were you a republican? And why are you still a republican? What do YOU believe in? You haven't said what I have said that is "poision". Speaking of Fools, the Bible says in Proverbs 12:15 That the way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who heeds counsel is wise. Simply put, Barry knows that raising taxes will harm the economy, just look at all the states that have raised them and saw revenues fall. He cares not about any of us, but only power.
Your move, name your poison, Black Russian on the Rocks?
Thank you for pushing independents and moderate Republicans away from the McCain ticket.
Which candidate will best uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States? Which candidate will most trust in the collective wisdom of the American people? Which candidate will best protect us? Which candidate will create more opportunity? Which candidate? It is all abou asking the right questions.
It's not about the questions, it's that they don't want to hear the answers.
Proverbs says in 12:22 "Lying lips are an obamanation to the Lord, but those who deal truthfully are His delight".

Look and listen for yourself. Hear Obama in his own words discusses his links to both ACORN and the mortgage meltdown, and praises bundling and securitizing mortgages by banks as a means to float loans to the poor and spread the risk world wide. Never mind the link commentators point of view, just listen to what Obama says in his own words. A picture is worth a thousand words. Maybe more in the case of Obama comments in the last half of the first youtube link.

(oops!) stating that Freddie Mac was spending tax payer money to target Republicans in 2005 who were trying to regulate Fannie and Freddies fraud. Democrats were not targeted, as the were all in the tank with Fannie and Freddie to kill the regulations. Hear that, the article admits that Republicans were trying to regulate, and Democrats were trying to stop it from happening as a means to facilitate the Community Reinvestment Act.
The link below contains a purported list of the top 25 in Congress who got contributions from the folks at Fannie and Freddie. Obama is listed third, after Dodd and Kerry, even though Obama is just a junior Senator. Obama is followed next by Clinton. Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi are on the list as well.

Acorn is in the pockets of both parties, don't be fooled. Also, have you looked at the Greenspan article? To blame Freddy or Fannie is too simplistic. There were many events, bills that passed for deregulation, both the dems and repubs are to be blamed. Have you taken any classes in Macro economics? If you have you would not think in your terms. There are a lot of causes which created the giant mess we are in. Fingerpoint to everyone in government over the last 8 years and then you would have an accurate picture.
Who propsed the fixes, and who opposed the fixes?
ACORN is a leftwing cabal that is securely in the pocket of liberal democrats.
Has ACORN registered anyone to be a republican?
Bravo, right is right.
Parties that silence other points of view, you mean like, when slogans like "support our troops" are introduced in order to make it impossible for anyone to question the the Iraq War without being un-American and un-patriotic and ungrateful towards our soldiers? How about calling people communists when they suggest that maybe the people least in need should take a minor hit in their taxes to help the people most in need? Or attempting to quash any possibility of a well-educated person actually governing our country by labeling anybody capable of eloquently expressing themselves "élitist." Even you, saying that progressive is just another term for lacking morality, are attempting to silence another point of view by dismissing it as morally corrupt. The one truth that I see in looking at progressive vs. conservative ideals is that the fault of progressives is that they sometimes go too far in allowing certain freedoms, while conservatives often go too far in taking them away. Frankly, seeing as I live in the "Land of the free," I would prefer the former.
Can you tell me what rights that I, as a conservative, have taken away from you, as a liberal?
Wow going to far in "allowing certain" freedoms. Americans should be grateful that people like you would "allow" to do or say things you disapprove of. How tolerant. Having morals and saying so is not limiting anyone's point of view.
Meacham, to quote Ronald Reagan, "there you go again". Obama is SO far left he can't see center field much less right field. Who are you trying to kid? He is runing from wherever it takes to get him elected. Not only is he a far far left liberal, he is a radical in his belief in what government should be and do. Then, if he wins, the Republicans might as well not even show up. With Prince Obama, the Queen Mum Pelosi, and low and slow Harry Reid running everything we will truly be in the early days of socialism. I suggest you read, if you aren't already familiar with this treatise, "Rules for Radicals" by Saul Alinsky. If you read it very closely you can clearly see that it is the Obama campaign playbook. Of this, for any rational person, there can be no doubt.
Socialism.... schmocialism.... CAN WE FIRST GET YOU TO ADMIT YOU VOTED FOR A FACIST? AND THAT THE STATE OF OUR BELOVED COUNTRY IS SO POOR "BECAUSE" OF THE FACISTS "YOU" PUT IN OFFICE???
Comrade, can you name three hallmarks of "fascism" and what are the equivalents in the US?
You are making this too easy... so... after I break this down to you, I then challenge YOU to do the same regarding socialism and Obama.
Facism;
1) A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, (SEE CHENEY "Imprial Presidency" stringent socioeconomic controls, (SEE Tax Cuts for Business and the top 1%)
suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, (SEE U.S. Patriot Act, sneak n peak warrantless surveilance, suspension of habeus corpus, and a charge of "Unpatriotic" if you disagree with us)
and (3) typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism. Um... See Fox (propaganda)NEWS, Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage, Hewitt, Larson, Ingram.
EASY... DONE.... YOUR TURN
rockyrhodes??? still waiting...........
yeah..... i didn't 'think' so....
I never said I voted for George W. oh brilliant, angry, name calling, totally unreasonable Obamanist. In fact, I did not. I just do not support Obama for MANY reasons. And, yes his policies are socialist. Look them up and while you are at it read Allinsky's "Rules for Radicals". Maybe you will get an education. Then again, maybe you are beyond hope.
You know.. you can't be rational with the irrational. i comment you for not voting for bush... Perhaps then you either voted 3rd party, or for Kerry (based on standard right wing programmed language, i doubt that), or you chose not to vote..... but again.. based on what you are using for an 'argument' you have been propagandized. and thus it seems YOU are beyond hope. so.. let us have that mutual opinion and move forward. so now what.....
I have been "propagandized"?? You must be joking my kool aid drinking friend. FYI, I have voted Democrat in every Presidential election and I am 55 years old. The most amazing part is that you Obamanists just can't understand how any rational person might not support Obama. Why it is we don't trust him. Why we question and don't believe his "excuses" for his associations. Why we don't think he is experienced enough. How we see him as way too liberal. Well let me tell you things can get worse and they will if we elect Obama and put him in league with Pelosi, Reid, Frank, and Schumer. beyond hope? How about realistic.
As realistic as the propaganda kool aid you drink allows you to be. So let me get his right... you voted for clinton... and would have voted for Hillary Clinton too.. but OBAMA is too far left ...... of the Clintons....
sniff.... sniff..... (nope.... doesn't pass)
typo... i meant to write... commend you..... I COMMEND YOU.....
Very good post. It will be of course telling who he appoints to the Justice Department, CIA, FBI, and Secretary of State. The most important appointment will be Attorney General.
VERY telling. You can bet it won't be anyone who would even suggest prosecuting or even investigating ACORN. It will be a bunch of liberal ACLU types with a lot of George Sorros and Hollywood thrown in.
THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT HAS 'ALREADY' INVESTIGATED ACORN.... THERE WAS NO "THERE" , THERE.,,,, hence we had Gonzales and the Attorney General firings of those who said just that.... i would like your "insightful" thoughts into the purging of THOUSANDS of voters at a time ... as well as the stymied investigations into diebold in 04...... i'll wait.
They did? Oh REALLY? Then why have they just recently raided their office in Nevada? Why are 12 other offices currently under investigation?
So are you saying what "I" said didn't happen, because it wasn't reported onFox?? Please go BACK and look at the recent determination surrounding the attorney general firings... Iglesias,in particular called Gonzales out and said because he resisted going after ACORN on trumped up charges, he and the others were dismissed for political reasons. THAT is why Gonzales had to leave, because he politicized the Justice Department. and the reason Why the raid and why the offices under investigation is because ,AS USUAL. the Bush justice department is giving an assist to McCain and pressing for something that isnt THERE... but the headlines... (which is exactly what YOU are basing your posts on) are valuable propaganda.... This WHOLE ACORN thing is a sham to undermin the upcoming election. Now they can shout onesy and twosy voter fraud, while purging TENS OF THOUSANDS off the voter rolls.
crickets chirping.... hello?? hellooooooooooo.....
It seems logical to assume that honesty is about the most important requirement as when the honesty is questionable then everything else is also and no matter how attractive something may sound, it then just can???t be trusted. Over the last eight years we have simply been lied to so much that anyone would really have to be totally blinded by their biases in order to still put any faith in anything the Bush administration says. To any rational and objective viewer it has to be totally apparent that Gov Palin will aggressively say anything she thinks will benefit her and that when she is confronted with her inaccuracies, she then has no hesitation to belligerently rationalize an answer. Senator McCain has clearly demonstrated that he will change his positions frequently and quickly, creating little confidence in his intent, as he attempts to sway voters thinking and still maintain his commitment to the Bush-Cheney policies. The Republican Party has shown they will arrogantly use any artifice in hoping to manipulate public opinion, without conscience for fact, quality or class. There are many drastic problems currently affecting the country and the average American, yet there seems little acknowledgement of fault and still subtle efforts to continue to benefit Special Interests and a select few. Does all of this apply equally to the Democrats? There are of course faults that apply to the Democrats as well but it is definitely more of a contrast than a comparison with the Obama-Biden campaign by design seeking to stick to the ???high road???. No staunch Republican will buy into this or admit its validity but I would think that anyone else, when able to be strictly objective and rationally honest, they will see the truth for themselves and be able to make their own conscience driven decision. Really it is just a matter of being personally disciplined and each honest with ourselves.

Actually no, Mr. Meacham. You are very mistaken. This is in fact, a very liberal, Democratic country. That's how we began and that is where we're headed. Wake up and smell the coffee.
I think your article is spot on! Great stuff. I read Alter's piece and Cohen's in the Washington Post. I think that all sides are losing their minds. Democrats are overly excited, while Republicans are overly afraid. Here's an analysis that I saw yesterday: http://dissentingjustice.blogspot.com/2008/10/2008-is-not-1964-why-liberals-and.html
test
Americans don't call themselves "Liberal" because the right wing has been successful in defining Liberal in very negative terms, and confusing it with a way of interpreting religious doctrine which they also made very negative. However, the reason they use the word "liberal" as an insult is that they can then avoid discussing specific issues. For example, if instead of calling Obama "the most liberal Senator" they compared the votes that were cherry picked to earn Obama that title with Republican [and McCain] votes on the same issues, most Americans would agree with Obama's votes, not McCain's.
So, rather than saying Obama voted for X [with an accurate, rather than distorted description of X] they throw the word "liberal" around as an insult. It's interesting to note that the first time I heard Liberal used as an insult, it was not by the right, but rather by the radical left, for they disliked liberals; after all, liberals worked "through the system" and voted Democratic.
This Election is STARIGHT FORWARD .......The Country is in Financial Turmoil brinks of Bankruptcy

OMG. Please cancel my subscription to our unbelievable trash of a magazine. My customer # is 273433698. It's amazing to see how your worthless publication has chosen the next president in every issue over the last 6 months. I am embarrassed of even throwing your unread magazines in my trash can. I don't want the garbage crews to start disrespecting me. And I am asking all of my friends to Never ever purchase or subscribe to your liberal garbage of words and pictures. As an Independent Muslim-American, I am saddened that a mainstream publication like Newsweek can so openly spread such filth and be so biased. Its nauseating. Its biased views like your magazines that help me easily lean towards the conservative side. Good job campaigning for Obama! Its working.
And what will happen when Obama loses. Then it will be racism and not because of socialism. Get over it people, I have lived in socialism.... it DOES NOT WORK. They had a saying, "you can pay me a little as I can work". Food for thought!
Sorry typo - That was - you can't pay me a little as I can work
I believe my comment was creened yesterday by Newsweek.
Basically my point was...if Meacham is so convinced that the country is rightof center, why print a magazine slanted so far left of center?
Evan Thomas? Jonathan Alter? Howard Fineman? Eleanor (Rodham) Clift? Anna Quindlen? Michael Isikoff, richard Wolffe? Fareed Zakaria? Where do you find these people? Would any reader liberal (whoops...of course, I meant "progressive") think that any of these writers ever in their lives voted Republican?
Newsweek's ad revenues and subscriptions continue to plummet under Meacham's heavy handed bias...it is killing the magazine. Forget the internet, cable news, and talk radio--"advocacy journlism" (with the stress on 'advocacy') is destroying the credibility of this magazine. It has become essentially an organ of the Obama campaign.
Good work, Jon.

A teacher in Elmira , New York , who is a McCain supporter, asked her 4th grade class, "How many of you are McCain fans?" Not really knowing what a McCain fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands, except for Little Johnny. The teacher asked Little Johnny why he has decided to be different.
Little Johnny said, "Because I'm not a McCain fan." The teacher asked, "Why aren't you a McCain fan?" Johnny said, "Because I'm a Democrat. "The teacher asked him why he's a Democrat. Little Johnny answered, "Well, my Mom's a Democrat and my Dad's a Democrat, so I'm a Democrat." Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked, "If your mom was a moron and your dad was an idiot, what would that make you?" With a big smile, Little Johnny replied, "That would make me a McCain fan."
I like your post. It is so true. Only Democrats protect people's freedom unlike the Republicans who want to suppress it.
Yes like the equal time rule and letting unions have non-secret ballot votes. All in the right direction!
