Predictable. This piece is classic Mainstream Media pap. Certain premises---however faulty---are still accepted by most reporters who have clearly internalized the idea that "leftists" don't advance in the organization. And one of the biggest canards is this idea of "No matter what happens with any particular election, the United States is still a conservative country...blah blah blah."
Some examples: Meacham says the Democrats "were crushed in the 1994 elections". Crushed? They received 49.9% of the vote. It was only due to the particularities of our system that the Republicans gained so many new seats---mainly in the old Confederacy.
I could go on and on. But this nonsense about "the conservative team is still much bigger than the liberal team" is juvenile and reduces complex realities to sports page blather.
Americans aren't a monolith. And if they want anything, they want results, and they're willing to try new approaches to achieve them.
Barack Obama is going to be our next president. You'd think that media types like Meacham would at least wait until he's taken the oath of office before sharpening their knives and trying to destroy his presidency.
