Who "Joe the plumber" may be is not the issue, though it's easy to see why the Dems want it to be. That's because the real issue is what Obama's comments to him revealed about Obama. In the exchange with "Joe the plumber" we find out that Obama really is as radical as his early political acquaintances, Davis, Ayers, Wright, etc., and that he is into the failed economic policy of wealth redistribution. Obama's tax and spending plans alone would be bad enough, but add Reid and Pelosi to the mix, with the three of them controlling both houses of Congress and the executive branch without any effective restraint, and you have something that should causes concern even among moderate Democrats.
See Wall Street Journal: A Liberal Supermajority:

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122420205889842989.html

And whether McCain won or lost the third debate is also not relevant. He succeeded in the first half hour to plant the seeds of a Reagan style wipeout. Reputable historians and economists overwhelmingly agree that the taxation imposed by Hoover and FDR, and the "stimulus" spending and public works programs of FDR, actually deepened and prolonged the Great Depression. It was the production demands of WWII that got the economy going again. And when the war was over, the economy promptly went into recession.

    See e.g. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/10/03/opinion/main4499465.shtml
    And
    http://newsroom.ucla.edu/portal/ucla/FDR-s-Policies-Prolonged-Depression-5409.aspx

Point is, Obama's programs require him to tax, and his health care plan is a hidden tax on all business, large an small. In reality, it does not really matter who he taxes, those taxes are going to be passed through the economy. He has to tax, because it is they only way he can pay for his massive social engineering experiments. Any first year economics student knows that taxation is a tool used to contract an economy experiencing inflation, because it reduces demand by reducing the amount of money individuals and businesses have to spend. It is contractionary, which is exactly what you do not want to do when the problem is that the economy is contracting already into recession. Like Hoover and FDR, Obama's plans will only make it worse for longer.

That's why I think it is a joke that Obama is getting a boost from this whole economic crisis. This guy is more slippery than Teflon Don! Nothing sticks! When you have unlimited resources from multi Billionaires like George soros that can buy the media for you, you can get away with murder because nobody will ever know about it! George Soros finally found a candidate that could be bought. A guy with no qualifications but with an excessive ego who actually thinks it's all about him when he is only a pawn in Soro's game to play God with the whole world and shape it to his whim! Do you know how the Obama camp is going to get more votes on election day? His task force is going to go into poor neighborhoods offering cigarettes, money and maybe even drugs to street thugs in exchange for their votes. Colin Powell is talking about his endorsement of Obama because of his "steadiness". When you are confident that the election is bought and payed for of course you are going to be "steady", whatever that means. He does not have to prove himself or do much work like he demonstrated in the last debate!

The GOP is grasping at straws. They have nothing substantive against Obama, but boy are they good at making up lies. This is the leading Karl Rove tactic for years, and if America falls for this again we should be ashamed of ourselves. Not to mention the obvious fact that this is all a smokescreen to keep the focus off of the fact that Palin has been found guilty of abusing the power of her office, and that she is in contempt of court for obstruction of justice. After Nixon and Clinton, Americans are to some extent jaded, but really, would you want a VP who refuses to attend hearings in her own defense, and instructs her employees not to testify?

This year, the GOP offers you an angry old man and a woman who, while personable, is desperately uniformed on national and international issues. Both of them are far right politically. McCain used to be a maverick, but since 2004 he's voted 90% with Bush. McCain's policies are not original or reformist, despite how he's tried to co-opt Obama's popular message of change. Please go to the websites of both of the candidates and read their platforms. Obama's Blueprint for Change has more good ideas than McCain's plan. Compare them yourself. Obama's basic premise is that tax dollars should be spent to make America stronger and to improve the lives and well being of our people. For example, he uses education programs to train a new technology workforce, contributing to energy independence, creating jobs and improving the economy. When you read McCain's plan you will find no over-arching design to get America back on track. Instead you'll find more tax cuts for the wealthy, de-regulation of the health care industry, and a stated intent to overturn Roe v. Wade.

I'm a Republican. Although I embrace some forward-thinking social values, in the past I've rarely voted Democrat. My thinking was that since Republicans grow robust economies, by voting Republican I endorsed a plan that would grow wealth for our nation, and then we'd be able to afford social programs. It was a good strategy for a couple decades, but I have to say that the tenure of W. Bush has changed my mind. Not only is there nothing fiscally responsible about today's GOP, the insidious alignment of the party with religious intolerance has really turned me off.

On the other hand, the intelligent luminous thought of Barack Obama has ignited my patriotism. I want a President who puts America first and can get the economy back on track. In my mind, values voting takes a back burner when we are faced with a meltdown of the economy. It is time for a change, a real change. The Republicans have controlled the Presidency for 28 of the past 40 years, but they have fallen down on the job. The Democrats have a stellar candidate this year, and I am voting for Obama.

Making up lies? I especially like the big fat lie of Acorn being under investigation almost everywhere. You know, the Acorn that receives government funding and is supposed to be non-partisan, but openly endorses Obama? The one he gave 800,000 dollars to knowing full well of their illegal efforts to stuff ballot boxes with dem votes since 1998? Yeah.... that ACORN.

Of course, if Acorn was stuffing the ballot box with Republican votes, you dems and the entire liberal media would be all over it. The same as if McCain even had a passing acquaintance with an abortion clinic bomber.... Suddenly, none of this would be "grasping at straws", now would it?

      • Posted By: AskPlus @ 10/21/2008 1:51:06 PM

Actually, the Reps have been stuffing boxes, suppressing votes and doing the ever popular marketing calls at dinner. ACORN, for the most part has equal Dem and Rep issues. That's why they explained who would benefit. Need to read and stop whining. After that, you can see who on McCain team has already been caught cheating with voter suppression.

        • Posted By: Pocolodi @ 10/21/2008 10:55:01 PM

Right. I'm sure you have even a fraction of the documentation for "republican voter fraud" that the authorities have on Acorn with democrat voting fraud.... We'd love to see it! Anything?

          • Posted By: Debster52 @ 10/22/2008 6:45:54 PM

Read about Sproul, and read the books by Greg Palast and Mark Crispin Miller which detail election fraud. Look up blackbox.org. There is tons of evidence of RW voter suppression. The electonic machines are mostly owned by far-right wing companies and have flipped votes or not counted Democratic votes.

Not meaning to sound bigoted, I am more enraged that Obama's background and associates are not brought before the American public. I think Sen. McCain and the Repulican Party's political correctness is going to cost him the presidency. There is so much unsavory baggage attached to Sen. Obama, including the infamous MIchelle's saying she's finally proud of her country, yet the main stream media refuses to inform the
American public about his associations with seditous and traitorous agendas. All are aware of his rousing endorsement and friendship (going back to the Million Man March) with the likes of Louis Farrakhan, Supreme Leader of the Nation of Islam, Rev, Jeremiah Wright, William Ayres, Antoin "Tony" Rezko, ad nauseum.
If these inidividuals were associated in any way with Sen. McCain, the MSM would not ever let go of that bone.
And Nins has the audacity to say the GOP is grasping at straws. Why wont Obama release his and Michelle's school financial records? Why wont he list completely, without falsification of names and counties, contributors to his campaign? Why doesn't the media darling explain how the shoddy building of low-income housing which sponsored while a state senator, built a few short years ago is now condemned due to faulty construction and no upkeep?
How has he managed to buy a mansion in Hyde Park, travel extensively around the globe and attend one of the priciest schools in the Nation? And dont tell me it's from his book sales. Who is bankrolling this man with 143 days of senatorial experience before he began
    his run for the presidency?
I don't believe in slinging mud, because when you do that you lose ground. But these facts are not mud. They are facts.
If Sen. McCain had one-fifth of the unsavory baggage surrounding him, he would be crucified.

McCain was Acorn's KEYNOTE SPEAKER at two rallies during 2006. On February 20, 2006, McCain spoke at an Acorn rally for Miami Hispanics who wanted to change immigration law. McCain commended Acorn's efforts to register Hispanic voters. He attended another Acorn rally in New York City on February 26, 2006, also aimed at an Hispanic audience. McCain was using Acorn to register Hispanic Republicans, who he hoped will vote for him.

So if Acorn is guilty of fraud, then McCain is just as guilty as Obama of being affiliated with Acorn.

    http://www.bradblog.com/?p=6508

But it turns out that Acorn is NOT guilty of fraud. These ineligible voters NEVER WERE registered. Their registration forms were flagged as suspicious by Acorn themselves, and rejected by the Elections Board.

If anyone is guilty in this mess, it would be the GOP and McCain's campaign team. They thought all this up as a way to falsely smear Obama, and so that they can cry foul when they get trounced in a landslide on November 4th. Nice bunch of guys running McCain's team. They all have the Karl Rove poison eating at their souls.

IN MY OPINION: LOOOOOOKOUT AMERICA! THE ONLY WAY THAT THE REPUBLICANS CAN WIN THIS ELECTION IS BY VOTER FRAUD AT THE POLLS BY THE VOTING BOOTH OFFICIALS. THAT IS WHERE ELECTIONS ARE STOLEN! BELIEVE ME. I HAVE SEEN THIS HAPPEN TIME AND TIME AGAIN.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOK OUT AMERICA! I REPEAT. SOME ELECTION OFFICIALS WILL DEFINITELY HAVE TO BE WATCHED CLOSELY. IF YOU ARE CONNECTED TO OBAMA'S CAMAIGN, BE IN THE LOOOOOOOOOK OUT FOR THIS TYPE OF FRAUD.

IF YOU ARE READING MY COMMENT, PLEASE LET THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN KNOW ABOUT THIS. IT IS OF GREAT IMPORTANCE FOR OBAMA TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. HE MUST PLACE WATCHERS AT THE POLLS IN THE BATTLE GROUND STATES WHERE THE LOCAL OFFICIALS ARE REPUBLICANS.

THERE ARE A LOT OF WAYS FOR THIS TYPE OF FRAUD HAPPEN. ONE BY PURGING THE VOTER REGISTRATION LIST (DELETING VOTERS WHO JUST REGISTERED TO VOTE THIS YEAR) AND THE OTHER WAY IS TO RIG THE COMPUTERS AND/OR THE COUNTING MACHINES. ANOTHER WAY IS TO TEMPER WITH THE BALLOTS AND THE RESULTS OF THE COUNTING.

THIS HAS HAPPENED A LOT OF TIMES IN TEXAS AND OTHER STATES. I KNOW BECAUSE I WAS A COUNTY JUDGE IN TEXAS FOR EIGHT YEARS AND A JUSTICE OF THE PEACE FOR TWELVE YEARS. I SAW A LOT OF CHEATING GOING ON! LOOOOK OUT! THE McCAIN CAMPAIGN COULD BE OUT TO NO GOOD!

SOUND THE ALARM ACROSS AMERICA TO BE IN THE LOOOOOOK OUT FOR POSSIBLE FRAUD BY THE OFFICIALS AT ELECTION PRECINT LEVELS!

    • Posted By: Debster52 @ 10/22/2008 6:36:49 PM

I agree with you. I'm signing up to be a poll watcher. We need thousands and thousands of them! It's very frustrating. And that won't help with the counting of the votes inside those machines, mostly owned by far RW companies!!

  • Posted By: Debster52 @ 10/22/2008 6:30:24 PM

Widespread voter fraud"is a myth . The real threat to voting this year is voter suppression.
Already, the Right has made clear its intention to challenge hundreds of thousands of votes in swing states. Dishonest flyers have spread misinformation about Election Day. Local Republican parties are openly announcing their willingness to challenge voting eligibility based on home foreclosure lists. And far right activists have even lined up at some early voting locations to harass and intimidate voters. People have been reporting that voting machines flip their vote to McCain or they 've been challenged at the polls. You'll see more reports if you know where to find them - not in the main stream media enough!

FactCheck.Org is owned by the Annenberg group of Chicago! Talk about a conflict of interest! And Obama has been telling people on the trail to check out the site to verify his opponents claims. Funny, every time that he endorsed something, it turns out to be a part of his spin machine! Like he raised objections in the primaries when Indiana required photo I.D. to vote. He Protested that It took away people's right to vote! I
knew then and there that he was up to no good! America, wake up from the MASS HYPNOSIS!

McCain accuses Barack of having a .22, while he's toting a Desert Eagle...

As Republican Congressman Chris Cannon summarized during a joint hearing for the subcommittee on commercial and administrative law back in May 2008: "The difference between ACORN and Sproul is that ACORN doesn't throw away or change registration documents after they have been filled out."

Indeed, Sproul's history is filled with allegations of political misdeeds. During the 2004 election, Sproul & Associates (the former name of Lincoln Strategy) was accused of attempting to destroy forms collected by Democratic voters in Nevada. That same year in Oregon, Sproul & Associates allegedly instructed canvassers to only accept Republican registration forms in addition to destroying those turned in by Democrats.

  • Posted By: max in fl @ 10/22/2008 10:52:06 AM

Basically this is a situation where McCain projected on Barack what HE is doing. The plot thickens....

In a letter to the Justice Department last October, House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers said that that Sproul's alleged activities "clearly suppress votes and violate the law."

That Sproul would come under the employment umbrella of the McCain campaign -- the Republican National Committee has also separately paid Lincoln Strategy at least $37,000 for voter registration efforts this cycle -- is not terribly surprising. Sproul, who has donated nearly $30,000 to McCain's campaign, has been in the good graces of GOP officials for the past decade despite charges of ethical and potentially legal wrongdoing.

But his involvement with the Republican Party's voter registration efforts has the potential to create a political and public relations headache at a time when McCain can ill-afford one. For weeks the Arizona Republican and his allies have been seeking to tie Barack Obama to the community organization ACORN, which they have accused of potentially committing massive voter registration fraud. Sproul's contract with the GOP ticket -- in addition to news of Republican officials attempting to suppress Democratic turnout in California -- raises, for some, questions about McCain's own efforts.

So McCain wants Barack to talk about ACORN...next up Nathan Sproul,

John McCain's campaign has directed $175,000 to the firm of a Republican operative accused of massive voter registration fraud in several states.

According to campaign finance records, a joint committee of the McCain-Palin campaign, the RNC and the the California Republican Party, made a $175,000 payment to the group Lincoln Strategy in June for purposes of "registering voters." The managing partner of that firm is Nathan Sproul, a renowned GOP operative who has been investigated on multiple occasions for suppressing Democratic voter turnout, throwing away registration forms and even spearheading efforts to get Ralph Nader on ballots to hinder the Democratic ticket.

ACORN pay let's say $8 per hour and registers democrats and republicans. YPM are paid per REPUBLICAN. You'll notice soon that the ACORN fire by the republicans is out.

Again and again, the republican party chooses to judge and they are judged the same as it is written.

The California Republican Party, which pays YPM a fee of $7 to $12 for each registration it secures, issued a statement calling the charges against Jacoby "politically motivated." Bowen, the state's chief elections officer, is a Democrat

On October 3, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office charged Jacoby with two counts of voter registration fraud and two counts of perjury, and issued a warrant for his arrest.

He was taken into custody late Saturday, but his lawyer said he was released on bail on Sunday.

Under California law, anyone convicted of registering to vote who is not entitled to do so faces a penalty of up to three years in prison, and it is perjury to provide false information on a voter registration card.

Let the games begin....ACORN vs YPM

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The owner of a company hired by the California Republican Party to register voters was arrested over the weekend on charges of voter registration fraud and perjury, officials said on Monday.

Mark Jacoby is accused of fraudulently registering himself to vote at a Los Angeles address where he no longer resides -- his boyhood home -- to meet a state law requiring all signature gatherers to register or be eligible to vote in California.

He did this twice, in 2006 and 2007, according to a statement issued by the California secretary of state, Debra Bowen. A spokeswoman for Bowen said investigators found the home at the address where he registered was no longer owned by Jacoby's family.

Authorities also are investigating complaints that Jacoby's company, Young Political Majors, or YPM, improperly registered voters as Republicans, said Ed Miller, a deputy district attorney for Los Angeles County.

The Los Angeles Times has reported that dozens of voters claimed they had been duped by YPM employees into switching parties and registering as Republicans when they were asked to sign a petition seeking tougher penalties against child molesters.

(Continued from my post above: Baracks Organizer Buds Pushed for Bad Mortgages)

(Part 2 of 2 - ACORN - OBAMAs DANGEROUS PALS)

Any bank that wants to expand or merge with another has to show it has complied with CRA - and APPROVAL CAN BE HELD UP BY COMPLAINTS FILED by groups like ACORN. In fact, intimidation tactics, public charges of racism and threats to use CRA to block business expansion have enabled ACORN to extract hundreds of millions of dollars in loans and contributions from Americas financial institutions.

Banks already overexposed by these shaky loans were pushed still further in the wrong direction when government-sponsored Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac began buying up their bad loans and offering them for sale on world markets. Fannie and Freddie acted in response to Clinton administration pressure to boost homeownership rates among minorities and the poor. However compassionate the motive, the result of this systematic disregard for normal credit standards has been financial disaster.

ONE key pioneer of ACORNs subprime-loan shakedown racket was Madeline TALBOTT - an ACTIVIST WITH EXTENSIVE TIES TO BARACK OBAMA. She was also in on the ground floor of the disastrous turn in Fannie Maes mortgage policies. Long the director of Chicago ACORN, Talbott is a specialist in DIRECT ACTION - organizers term for their MILITANT TACTICS OF INTIMIDATION AND DISRUPTION. Perhaps her most famous stunt was leading a group of ACORN protesters breaking into a meeting of the Chicago City Council to push for a living wage law, shouting in defiance as she was arrested for mob action and disorderly conduct. But her real legacy may be her drive to push banks into making risky mortgage loans.

I know the republicans need to propetuate the voter fraud lie to pass its laws for voter suppression but THIS is not a spin. It IS however finally sinking in, that this smoke screen in attacking ACORN, is really comparable to attacking a department store for an employee shoplifting. The employee at the department cannot be officially be charged with shoplifting UNTIL they step OUT of the store with the goods.

The canvassers CANNOT be fired for writing phoney registrations until the elections officials receive them. If ACORN threw out the registration card they could still be ACCUSED OF voter registration fraud. This time they would be guilty.

The difference between the RNC's election fraud in 2004 and ACORN's voters registration fraud 2004 is the same as the difference between killing someone (election fraud) and punching someone (voter registration fraud)...
