Obama's False Medicare Claim

I watched McCain say in one of the Debates, he will CUT MEDICARE.

In the second debate, I heard McCain say ""there's no way we can give medicare benefit at the level we currently are" Playback the debate.
When he realized he said it, he tried to quickly move past it.

McCain certainly said something about limiting or reducing medicare benefits
Review the debate and listen closely..

I am coming to terms Obama will be the next President of the United States of America. and he will get his name in the history books as being the first black President even though he may destroy this country of ours. Obama's campaign did stretch the truth about McCain cutting benefits. That is false. Obama's plan wants to punish families for not having insurance and punish people for being successful. When Bill Clinton and the democrats had control of the house, senate and White House the tables changed two years after Clinton's first term. When Bill Clinton left the White House after his second term there was a surplus but it wasn't because the democrats were responsible but if I remember correctly the Republicans had control of the House and Senate. Sounds like the Republicans balanced the budget probably because they know how to budget. The Democrats are known to raise taxes and spend on social programs. The economy turned around while the Repubs had control because the Democrats do not know how to budget. For the last eight years we have endured a decline in interest rates, housing and economic slumps. I will be voting the hero and republicans across the board. They know what is at stake.

McCain is not going to cut your precious government handouts (although any sensible person will pray that he could). Those handouts that you Dimocraps keep holding out your hands for are the very reason our economy is in such a state. Welfare, Medicare, Medicaid??? Subprime Mortgages. William F. Buckley's son, Christopher Buckley, who is a conservative Republican like his Dad, is supporting Barack Obama for President.

Christopher Buckley was forced to resign from the right wing National Review over this endorsement. Chris has written a conservative column for years at the National Review, the journal his father founded. Chris has been a poster boy for the Republican party ever since his father, in a 1985 speech to Ronald Reagan, said that his son Christopher lived in a world of freedom thanks to the fact that the USA had not been afraid to use nuclear bombs in Japan and so end WWII.

Twenty three years later, many prominent Republicans, including Christopher Buckley, Kathleen Parker, Susan Eisenhower and Colin Powell have come out in support of Barack Obama. Their primary reason for doing so is that they feel that Obama is the better candidate. But just as importantly, they are concerned by the growing tendency of the GOP to incite the masses based on false charges of terrorism, Muslim roots, etc. These lies feed a dark form of social unrest that is very destructive for America. (Look what it did in Nazi Germany.) They also all pointed to the inadequate choice of Sarah Palin as John's VP. These are prominent right wing Republicans speaking, not liberal Democrats.

And while I am not prominent, I too am a Republican who is voting for Obama.

Sorry, but this pro-McCain garbage won't fly this time. He has publicly acknowledge that he plans to cut 1.3 TRILLION in medicaid costs. There is no evidence of any kind that cuts of this magnitude can come from controlling "fraud" or "chronic conditions." So where will they come from?

Your willingness to accept, at face value, McCain's assertiosn with no critical thought renders this piece meanignless.

I have to say that Obama isn't really stretching the truth. McCain says they are going to make cuts or "savings" and doesn't say where from... there's not many places that can make 1.3 trillion in savings unless you look at the meat and potatoes of the plan. Obama's only twist was to cut the number 50/50 and assume what value would go where. In essence I believe that Obama is correct about their intentions if not entirely about the truth of what they said.

McCain did say future medicare recipients would not recieve benefits equal to those of current recipients.

It???s amazing to me that Newsweek dared to challenge anything from Saint Barak. My guess is they figure the race is over and their team won - so it they might as well pretend to be unbiased while they run out the clock. I'm really hoping that the remnants of their mainstream subscriber base will won't buy it. In my opinion, Newsweek's reputation is already toast. This last-ditch attempt at unbiased reporting is too little too late.

Oh, boy. You found something from the Obama campaign that is not exactly accurate. What about the robo-phone calls going out last week claiming that Obama had a close relationship with a terrorist? What about the claim that Obama voted for taxing everyone making $42,000 or more? When it comes to innuendos and distortions, the Republicans wrote the book.

Obama needs to come clean about this. The McCain campaign has gone over the top playing dirty politics; Obama has to be different.

You QUIBBLE: If McCain stated, " curtailing unnecessary bureaucratic procedures", "fraud abatement", "streamlining application procedures", "re-evaluating expensive medical treatments", "consolidating communication and date storage tasks", "improving access" etc. etc. He then might have got away with a great plan. Unfortunately he gave every impression of reducing benefits through cost cuts. Pure stupidity.
