SO I am still laughing at the superior intellect of those of you stupid enough to vote in another 4 years of running our country into the ground, But I will not get ahead of myself, there still is time for BUSH to run our country a little deeper into the hole he's got us into now. John McCain, I would drop out of the election if I were you and cut your reputational losses. OH! thats right your reputation isn't worth a 1/2 of a cent anyway. And neither are his voters.

he Japanese Americans in WWII. The Bush administration called it's main internment camp Guantanamo Bay. While there are certainly many guilty terrorists held in Guantanamo, there are also many innocent American citizens who have been held illegally for years without even being charged with any crime. They have been tortured by our government. Some of them have died.

Recently the Supreme Court ruled against the Bush administration in the matter of Guantanamo Bay. The Supreme Court Justices were NOT on the side of the terrorists. They were on the side of the Geneva Convention, that says you can not torture POWs, and on the side of US laws that state you can not imprison a person without charging them with a crime and bringing them to trial. I'm sure that like most Americans, the Justices who voted against the illegal, immoral doings at Guantanamo didn't feel sympathy for the terrorists. They felt sympathy for the laws of AMERICA, the land of the FREE, where even rat finks get a fair trial.

Meanwhile, back in Iraq, the Bush administration is busy trying to build a smokescreen to hide the CRIMES they have committed. Those pesky weapons of mass destruction. Just think, the National Debt went up over 6 trillion dollars under Bush. More than 2 TRILLION of it went directly into the pockets of Halliburton, a corporation owned by the Cheney family. Halliburton is now a DUBAI corporation and therefore is not subject to US taxes. All that money they took out of the US Treasury is going into the coffers of a MUSLIM country.

Did you hear about how the US government is being charged millions for Halliburton deliveries of sand into Iraq from Kuwait? Sand. Like there is a shortage of sand in Iraq? Another contractor shipped sand from Idaho to Iraq at our expense. Nobel prize winning economist Joseph Stiglitz discusses these and other excesses of our current government's out of control spending in Iraq.

Your grandchildren will be working like slaves to pay off this debt, so that the Bushes and Cheneys can live the high life in Dubai.

Yeah, they're patriots, Bush&Co. They wear flag pins. And hide the money they stole from America in Dubai.

And they want me to believe that Obama is a socialist. Right.

People on these bogs are fond of saying that the current economic meltdown was caused by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac underwriting bad mortgages. While Fannie and Freddie obviously are guilty of writing bad mortgages, and worse, guilty of lobbying Congress to allow them to do so with impunity, their actions are just a small piece of the puzzle when it comes to determining who (or what) caused the financial crisis we face today.

In 1929 the stock market crash caused the banks to fail, because the banks were in bed with the stock market. Back then, banks owned investment houses, so when the stock market fell, the banks fell too. This triggered the Great Depression. So in 1933 the Congress wrote laws that regulated banking, making it illegal for banks to own investment companies, mortgage guaranty companies or insurance companies. The idea was to keep key industries separated by a fire wall, so that if one industry failed the whole economy would not go down in flames.

But the Republicans under Bush deregulated the banking industry. Senator Phil Gramm wrote legislation (the Gramm Rudman Act, the Gramm Leach Biley Act, etc.) that stripped away the regulations in the financial and insurance industies. He pushed them through the Republican Congress and they were signed into law by Geo. W. Bush. John McCain voted in favor. Everybody said how great it is to deregulate and create free markets.

Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns and Merrill Lynch each gave over a million dollars to Senator Gramm's re-election campaign.

The economic collapse that happened later was a direct result of the deregulation, and here's how: the banks wrote bad mortgages, then bundled the mortgages into investment vehicles that they sold all over the world, and they even got firms like AIG to insure the investments. It was all a house of cards.

If there had been no deregulation, sure we would have had a bunch of bad mortgages, and the mortgage guaranty and real estate industries would have suffered, but there would not have been a global financial meltdown, since the problem would have been contained in one sector of the economy. You can thank Geo W. Bush, Sen. Phil Gramm and Sen John McCain for the meltdown, since they were strong proponents of deregulation.

Furthermore, although Fannie and Freddie are now holding the bulk of these bad mortgages, Fannie and Freddie did not originally write most of these mortgages. They bought them after the fact, bundled by banks/investment companies. Fannie and Freddie got screwed by the Wall Street fat cats. And so did you, if you pay taxes.

What is Phil Gramm doing today? He works as a lobbyist in Washington, trying to make it legal for the Swiss bank he represents to sell Death Bonds in the United States. Nice guy, Phil Gramm. Incidentally, John McCain has said that he wants to appoint Phil Gramm as Treasury Secretary. Some people just can't learn from their mistakes.

Love to see McCain finally get truthful about something. It is about time to forget about the hypothetical 'Joe the Plumber' that never dealt with reality and focus on real people and the real issues that bother them. It is great to see McCain say that more of the same is neither going to work nor be acceptable. Desperation has McCain now strongly faulting GWBush and the Bush-Cheney eight year performance. Doesn't he understand that these acts of desperation now at the near end just confirm that the problems were always there, that he ignored them and even supported the actions that caused them and by flip-flopping now, he only confirms that he can't be trusted to do anything to turn anything around? Being McSame for eight years just totally contradicts ever being able to be a real McMaverick!

I agree with you 100% and think about it, if McCAIN IN THE MEMBRAIN died his hair black and grew a little mustache right under his nose, he would really remind me of someone from back in the 40's, don't you think? yes that would be Adolph Hitler. I can see a little resemblence there, and in his commi-servative tactics against the Obama campain

RNC On New Mexico "Voter Fraud": Never Mind

As if you needed any more evidence that the Republican effort to tout voter fraud is less about legitimate claims and more about a political agenda, consider this sequence of events:

Last week, as we noted at the time, the New Mexico GOP had publicly claimed that 28 people voted fraudulently in the Democratic primary, held in June, for a local race.

Then this morning, the RNC sent out a press release announcing a 3pm conference call with reporters "on the recent developments in New Mexico regarding ACORN."

But at 11am, ACORN -- the community organizing group that Republicans have been trying lately to turn into a voter fraud boogeyman -- held a conference call of its own, asserting that local election officials had confirmed that the 28 people in question, mostly low-income Latinos, were valid voters.

So here at TPMmuckraker, we wondered what the RNC's response to this would be. And on the 3pm call, we asked party spokesman Danny Diaz.

Diaz dodged the question. He talked about an incident with ACORN in Washington state, then referred us to an October 9th Wall Street Journal story, which did not address the allegation made last week by the state GOP about fraudulent voting in the Democratic primary. (Instead, it reported that the FBI had opened a preliminary investigation into thousands of fraudulent registration forms submitted in an area near an ACORN office.)

When we tried to follow up, Diaz cut us off and shifted the discussion toward a general attack on ACORN for submitting fraudulent registrations.

In other words, it looks like the RNC had scheduled a call to tout evidence of voter fraud -- not voter registration fraud, mind you, but actual voter fraud -- being perpetrated by ACORN in New Mexico. But when ACORN appeared to come up with compelling evidence that no such fraud had occurred, the RNC held the call anyway, simply shifting the focus to other vague allegations against ACORN -- then refused to address the New Mexico situation when asked

His over performance could be due to the fact that he brings in new voters and polls are based on likely voters.

His underperformance could be due to vote tampering. Coincidently, in the article by CNN "how to rig an election," I believe the perpitrator of that vote supression tactic was from NH, was'nt he?

Bradley? Never heard of him. It's as if a person cannot honestly dislike Obama and his policies without being labeled a racist by Democrats. This is a very hypocritical, racist, and diabolical plan that has done nothing but worsen racial interrelationships around the world.

BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA WILL SUFFER FROM THE "NOBAMA EFFECT???...TOO BAD...HE WILL LOSE!!

TODAY, AT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA'S DAMAGE CONTROL PRESS CONFERENCE ATTRIBUTED TO
JOE BIDEN'S "FLIRTATEOUS RHETORIC" RELATING TO OBAMA NOT ABLE TO HANDLE THE PENDING CRISIS IF HE WERE ELECTED. BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA GOES ON TO PROMOTE HIS ECONOMIC PHILOSOPHY OF "SPREAD THE WEALTH AROUND" SO THAT HE CAN CREATE AN AMERICAN SOCIETY WHERE ALL CITIZENS ARE AS EQUALS AND ON A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD IN ORDER TO PURSUE PERSONAL PROSPERITY. WELL, IN OTHER WORDS BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA IS TELLING TO EVERY AMERICAN'S FACE THAT HE WILL BE "DICTATING" YOUR PERSONAL FINANCES. AND ALL YOU GUYS ARE EATING IT ALL UP.

THIS POLITICAL DOCTRINE THAT OBAMA WILL IMPLEMENT IS KNOWN AS SOCIALISM, MARXISM, COMMUNISM, OR WHATEVER TERM ONE WANTS TO USE...BOTTOM LINE IS THAT THIS IS AN AFFRONT
    TO THE FOUNDATION OF AMERICA...CAPITALISM.

TO IMPOSE THESE DRACONIAN MEASURES SUCH AS RAISING TAXES TO SUPPORT THOSE IN SOCIETY WHO DO NOT EVEN WANT TO SUPPORT THEMSELVES BUT OBAMA DECLARES "SPREAD THE WEALTH AROUND" WILL LEAD TO AN ECONOMIC ABYSS.

IS THIS THE IDEOLOGY OBAMA ADOPTED FROM HIS CLOSE ASSOCIATION WITH WILLIAM AYERS WHO ALSO IS A BIG PROPONENT OF MARXISM?

AMERICANS, IF INDICATIONS ARE CORRECT AND OBAMA GETS ELECTED, IT WILL PROVE TO BE THE THIRD TIME IN A ROW THAT AMERICA REGRETS WHO THEY ELECTED AS PRESIDENT.

    WHAT ABOUT THE FRAUD EFFECT!!!!
As Paul Nyden reports in the Charleston Gazette:
Shelba Ketchum, a 69-year-old nurse retired from Thomas Memorial Hospital, described what happened Friday at the Putnam County Courthouse in Winfield.
"I pushed buttons and they all came up Republican," she said. "I hit Obama and it switched to McCain. I am really concerned about that. If McCain wins, there was something wrong with the machines.
"I asked them for a printout of my votes," Ketchum said. "But they said it was in the machine and I could not get it. I did not feel right when I left the courthouse. My son felt the same way.
"I heard from some other people; they also had trouble. But no one in there knew how to fix it," said Ketchum, who is not related to Menis Ketchum, a Democratic Supreme Court candidate.
Ketchum's son, Chris, said he had the same problem. And Bobbi Oates of Scott Depot said her vote for incumbent Democratic Sen. Jay Rockefeller was switched to GOP opponent Jay Wolfe.
"I touched the one I wanted, Rockefeller, and the machine put a checkmark on the Republican instead," Oates said of her experience Thursday.

IT ONLY HAPPENS BENEFITING REPUBLICANS, WHAT A COINCIDENCE!!!!

Democrat-Hillary ....reason why these corporations as you say don't pay income taxes is because these companies have their operation headquarters overseas hence they do not fall into US jurisdiction...something like tax evasion but its legal. Thats why the Republicans are saying taxes are too high for corporations and they want to attract them into mainland USA .....something the Democratic socialist ideology does not want to admit to the American people.

Living in Pueblo, Colo has always been a challenge, career-wise. It was esp difficult when what few mfg. jobs existed in this area went overseas (China) over a decade ago. We somehow persevered, which is what most hard working Americans do -- not those looking for full time handouts. Barack Hussein Obama is determined to "spread the wealth", and I think he should start with his impoverished half-brother living on $1/mo in Africa. Do you think BHO could spare $10/mo for his brother? Maybe Ayers & Rezko could pitch in.

Other presidents "who spread the wealth": FDR, Truman, Kennedy etc.
Countries with socialized medicine at lower cost with stronger economies than us...anyone using the Euro. Maybe it's time we modernized... Obama???s plan isn't socializing medicine enough. Incidentally do you think it was a democrat who gave tax breaks to that company who went to China? What has the right wing purist economic ideology gotten us? A wall street with no rules that made us more socialized ($814 billion) than we would have been had we put some constraints RULES in place. It has killed competition by rewarding archaic giants for bad behavior! Nice job republicans! YOU are killing capitalism with your rigidity, fanaticism, and inability adapt. Here???s a crazy thought???what if a few rules were good for capitalism?!!?

I'm all for unity for Americans... but not if it means that I have to give up MY rights to appease the agenda of the liberals. I don't believe in "spreading the wealth".... that is SOCIALISM. Obama is dangerous, plain and simple. The truth will come out eventually. I just hope if he is elected, he doesn't have time to do too much damage before then.

    • Posted By: Leslie082858 @ 10/22/2008 6:24:54 PM

How about MY right as an American to expect a presidential candidate to fully exclose his background. Or my right to have a presidential candidate tell the truth about his membership in an anti-american church for over 20 years? Or what about my right to know why Obama endorsed William Ayer's book or why he is close friends with a terrorist. Then there is my right to work hard and be rewarded for it? The government has NO right to "reward" my hard work by taking from me and giving to those who haven't earned it. Oh, and I also have a right to expect that my president be tough enough to keep my country safe. Obama wants to sit down and have tea with our enemies. I'm not watching your media skewed "footage". I've been watching and reading and listening much longer than eight years. The truth is, the liberals chose Obama because he is an eloquent speaker and a democrat. Oh boy.... let's get this guy elected!! Dee Dee Dee. God help us all.

What rights are you being asked to give up? Giving up Habeas Corpus, unwarranted wire-tapping, an illegal war, an illegal gulag (Guantanamo) that even the Supreme Court has decreed is illegal? How about outing a CIA agent in charge of tracking hot nukes? Please, you must not have been reading news in the last eight years.

By the way, if Obama is "socialist" why did McCain vote for the bail-out package? Why is he proposing to buy housing debt from financial institutions. Isn't that socialism? And why do people in areas affected by hurricanes, floods and tornadoes expect government money to reconstruct when their property is destroyed? Isn't that socialism? 'Cause Free Market it ain't.

Please, watch the footage here... What is McCain saying?
