Living in Pueblo, CO has always been a challenge career-wise, yet we have managed to stay ahead with flexibility thru any administration. If Barack Hussein wants to spread wealth, perhaps he should start with his impoverished half-brother in Africa who lives on $1/month. Do you think BHO could spare $10?

It seems logical to assume that honesty is about the most important requirement as when the honesty is questionable then everything else is also and no matter how attractive something may sound, it then just can???t be trusted. Over the last eight years we have simply been lied to so much that anyone would really have to be totally blinded by their biases in order to still put any faith in anything the Bush administration says. To any rational and objective viewer it has to be totally apparent that Gov Palin will aggressively say anything she thinks will benefit her and that when she is confronted with her inaccuracies, she then has no hesitation to belligerently rationalize an answer. Senator McCain has clearly demonstrated that he will change his positions frequently and quickly, creating little confidence in his intent, as he attempts to sway voters thinking and still maintain his commitment to the Bush-Cheney policies. The Republican Party has shown they will arrogantly use any artifice in hoping to manipulate public opinion, without conscience for fact, quality or class. There are many drastic problems currently affecting the country and the average American, yet there seems little acknowledgement of fault and still subtle efforts to continue to benefit Special Interests and a select few. Does all of this apply equally to the Democrats? There are of course faults that apply to the Democrats as well but it is definitely more of a contrast than a comparison with the Obama-Biden campaign by design seeking to stick to the ???high road???. No staunch Republican will buy into this or admit its validity but I would think that anyone else, when able to be strictly objective and rationally honest, they will see the truth for themselves and be able to make their own conscience driven decision. Really it is just a matter of being personally disciplined and each honest with ourselves.

DEMOCRATS AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE NOT ASKING FOR HANDOUTS, THEY ARE ASKING FOR:
    - JOBS!
    - HEALTHCARE THEY CAN AFFORD AND W/ FAIR COVERAGE!
    - TAX BREAK, RE-ESTABLISHING THE BALANCE, FAIRNESS FOR ALL!
    - EDUCATION!

    - AFFORDABLE ENERGY AND CLEAN ENVIRONMENT!
    - UNITY FOR ALL AMERICANS!

THIS IS WHAT DEMOCRATS, INDEPENDENTS AND REASONABLE REPUBLICANS WANT. WE DID NOT GET IT UNDER 2 TERMS OF BUSH WITH AMPLE OPPORTUNITIES AND WILL NOT GET IT FROM McCAIN WHO VOTED 90% WITH BUSH AND IS ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR PRESENT SITUATION. HIS AGENDA IS THE SAME THAN BUSH. EVEN HIS SLOGAN IS THE SAME:
THE REFORMER WITH RESULTS ??? SAID BUSH AND LOOK WHAT WE GOT!

WE DON T WANT ANOTHER SELF-PROCLAIMED REFORMER LIKE BUSH!
HAVING ALL HIS POLICIES AND TAXES BENEFITING THE RICH ONLY!
IF CONTINUE ON THAT PATH THERE WILL BE DIRE CONSEQUENCES, SO MUCH A GOVERNMENT CAN EXPLOIT AND ABUSE THE PEOPLE LIKE REPUBLICANS HAVE AND AMERICANS WON T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!!

Obama is trying to change the very foundation that our country was built on. I'm mad as hell. If he does win the election, he will end up impeached. There is simply too much information he is hiding... but he can't hide it forever.

I make enough money to benefit more from McCain's economic plans, but I still voted early for Obama. I did so because I know that our economy needs all the economic and social classes to progress and improve to be successful as a whole. Looking out for yourself because it seems fair is a nice sentiment, but it is not reality. Especially you so-called Christians; is it not your duty to help those less fortunate than yourself?

People on these bogs are fond of saying that the current economic meltdown was caused by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac underwriting bad mortgages. While Fannie and Freddie obviously are guilty of writing bad mortgages, and worse, guilty of lobbying Congress to allow them to do so with impunity, their actions are just a small piece of the puzzle when it comes to determining who (or what) caused the financial crisis we face today.

In 1929 the stock market crash caused the banks to fail, because the banks were in bed with the stock market. Back then, banks owned investment houses, so when the stock market fell, the banks fell too. This triggered the Great Depression. So in 1933 the Congress wrote laws that regulated banking, making it illegal for banks to own investment companies, mortgage guaranty companies or insurance companies. The idea was to keep key industries separated by a fire wall, so that if one industry failed the whole economy would not go down in flames.

But the Republicans under Bush deregulated the banking industry. Senator Phil Gramm wrote legislation (the Gramm Rudman Act, the Gramm Leach Biley Act, etc.) that stripped away the regulations in the financial and insurance industies. He pushed them through the Republican Congress and they were signed into law by Geo. W. Bush. John McCain voted in favor. Everybody said how great it is to deregulate and create free markets.

Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns and Merrill Lynch each gave over a million dollars to Senator Gramm's re-election campaign.

The economic collapse that happened later was a direct result of the deregulation, and here's how: the banks wrote bad mortgages, then bundled the mortgages into investment vehicles that they sold all over the world, and they even got firms like AIG to insure the investments. It was all a house of cards.

If there had been no deregulation, sure we would have had a bunch of bad mortgages, and the mortgage guaranty and real estate industries would have suffered, but there would not have been a global financial meltdown, since the problem would have been contained in one sector of the economy. You can thank Geo W. Bush, Sen. Phil Gramm and Sen John McCain for the meltdown, since they were strong proponents of deregulation.

Furthermore, although Fannie and Freddie are now holding the bulk of these bad mortgages, Fannie and Freddie did not originally write most of these mortgages. They bought them after the fact, bundled by banks/investment companies. Fannie and Freddie got screwed by the Wall Street fat cats. And so did you, if you pay taxes.

What is Phil Gramm doing today? He works as a lobbyist in Washington, trying to make it legal for the Swiss bank he represents to sell Death Bonds in the United States. Nice guy, Phil Gramm. Incidentally, John McCain has said that he wants to appoint Phil Gramm as Treasury Secretary. Some people just can't learn from their mistakes.

Here, let Obam explain to you what really happened.
Look and listen for yourself. Hear Obama in his own words discusses his links to both ACORN and the mortgage meltdown, and praises bundling and securitizing mortgages by banks as a means to float loans to the poor. Never mind the link commentators point of view, just listen to what Obama says in his own words. A picture is worth a thousand words. Maybe more in the case of Obama comments in the last half of the youtube link.

McCain Pre-Palin: Mayors And Governors Can't Handle National Security

"MCCAIN'S STATEMENT IN THE NEW YORK TIMES ON 10/21/07"

The fact is, I'm running on my record as a reliable conservative of 24 years. And the indicators of that, obviously, is that I've fought wasteful spending, I have had a strong and a long relationship on national security, I've been involved in every national crisis that this nation has faced since Beirut, I understand the issues, I understand and appreciate the enormity of the challenge we face from radical Islamic extremism.

I am prepared. I am prepared. I need no on-the-job training.

I wasn't a mayor for a short period of time. I wasn't a governor for a short period of time. For 20-some years, including leading the largest squadron in the United States Navy, I led. I didn't manage for profit, I led for patriotism.

A QUESTION TO ALL REPUBLICANS OUT THERE:

DO YOU KNOW WHAT HAVE YOUR SWEAT PAID FOR DURING THE LAST 8 YEARS?

DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH OF YOUR SWEAT HAVE GONE TO NON-BID CONTRACTORS LIKE HALLIBURTON AND OTHERS (EVEN TO BRING SAND ??? YES SAND FROM THE USA TO IRAK)?

DO YOU KNOW THE RATIO OF YOUR SWEAT GOING TO CORPORATE WELFARE VS SOCIAL WELFARE?

I HOPE YOU KNOW THE ANSWER BEFORE OPPOSING ANY CHANGE TO CURRENT PRACTICE.

    McCain/Palin 08

  • Posted By: paulte @ 10/22/2008 1:44:40 PM

This all sounds pretty good but we must still remember that neither Bradley nor Wilder was running for the Presidency. I'm sure the Bradley effect does still apply to Obama and we may have a shocker in November because of it. I sure hope so!

The author bases his rationale on the primary polls on Obama. But he misses the big picture. Why was the candidate of Democratic choice set on his fanny by Hillary in the later contests? Weren't those Dems in PA & WV & KY & OH sending a message about the candidate of choice who happened to be black? Why could he never get a big state?

If it weren't for the financial meltdown and McCain's Palin pick, I think the race would be neck & neck. Even with Obama's present lead of 10 points, a bradley effect of 3 points (3 point transfer) would cut Obama's lead to 4 points which is within the margin of error. And there is always close to 10% undecided in the polling.

Things have changed in America and not always for the better. There seems to be more racial tolerance but is it actually something noble and altruistic or is it really just tolerance for falling standards sexual and otherwise. I think it is the latter. The young whites have no pride in their racial heritage.

People today (not me, of course!) are afraid to speak their minds because of the tyranny of political correctness. But they will speak their honest mind in the ballot box! Even if Obama manages to steal this election with ACORN shenanigans and tons of money (much of it from abroad), he will never hit 50% of the popular vote!

    • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 10/22/2008 2:38:20 PM

You stated that you are hoping for the Bradley Effect in November. That says quite a bit about what you think about White Americans and much much more about what you think about your candidate.

So sad that you believe that the only way that McCain can win is with Racism. Interesting, fortunately you are a member of a dying breed and soon America will no longer be embarrassed in the eyes of the rest of the world by those that think and behave as you do.

      • Posted By: paulte @ 10/22/2008 3:38:37 PM

I just want to see McCain win and Obama lose. That's the reason for my comment. People are afraid to speak their minds because of stupid comments from people like you wallowing in political correctness and asinine liberalism!

    • Posted By: wendydk @ 10/22/2008 2:04:49 PM

hmmm. you talk like a closet racist yourself. "Young whites have no pride in their racial heritage"? What the hell does that mean? And "racial tolerance"? Equal rights has nothing to do with tolerance, it has to do with fairness.

      Corporate Welfare Versus Social Welfare
      by David Wildman

As the U.S. Congress debated welfare policy, the media spotlight focused on the need to cut spending to the poorest people in the nation. At the same time, there was no or minimal coverage of policies that send billions of government dollars to corporate interests from oil companies to agribusiness to firms producing arms.
Looking across the breadth of the U.S. budget and policies, a key question arises: Whose welfare is the government serving -- the people???s or corporations????
It???s not a new question. Upon leaving the U.S. presidency in the late 1800s, Rutherford B. Hayes wrote in his diary:
"The real difficulty is with the vast wealth and power in the hands of the few....It is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people no longer. It is a government of corporations, by corporations, and for corporations."
U.S. presidents since have shared Mr. Hayes??? concern. For example, President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned of the dangerous power of the military-industrial complex in his farewell address. In his last weeks in office, President Bill Clinton stopped further subsidies to logging, mining and oil companies by preserving millions of acres of public lands.
Too often those in power only find courage and wisdom to address injustice of the powerful as they themselves leave power.
Today a rising number of voices -- environmentalists, workers, faith communities, family farmers, indigenous peoples and some public officials -- are calling for an end to corporate subsidies and privilege they label corporate welfare. Like forces that called for an end to social welfare "as we know it" in the early 1990s, these forces are calling for an end to corporate welfare "as we know it."
These groups refuse to be silent in the face of corporate efforts to transform government into a shareholders??? meeting where only those with money vote and earn dividends.

Most firms pay no income taxes - Congress
Study finds that the majority of domestic and foreign corporations in the United States avoid paying federal income taxes.
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Nearly two-thirds of U.S. companies and 68% of foreign corporations do not pay federal income taxes, according to a congressional report released Tuesday.
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) examined samples of corporate tax returns filed between 1998 and 2005. In that time period, an annual average of 1.3 million U.S. companies and 39,000 foreign companies doing business in the United States paid no income taxes - despite having a combined $2.5 trillion in revenue.
The study showed that 28% of foreign companies and 25% of U.S. corporations with more than $250 million in assets or $50 million in sales paid no federal income taxes in 2005. Those companies totaled a combined $372 billion in sales for the largest foreign companies and $1.1 trillion in revenue for the biggest U.S. companies.

    McCAIN HEALTH IN QUESTION...............

The Armed Forces pathologists suggested that the left-temple melanoma had spread from another melanoma, known as a metastasis or satellite lesion. ???The vertical orientation of this lesion,??? the report said, ???with only focal epidermal involvement above it is highly suggestive of a metastasis of malignant melanoma and may represent a satellite metastasis of S00-9572-A,??? which is the ???skin, left temple, lateral??? biopsy.

The pool report was by nature unable to provide a complete portrait of Mr. McCain???s recent medical history. It left several questions, including about the number of biopsies and when they were done. On Aug. 18, 2000, Dr. John D. Eckstein, Mr. McCain???s personal physician at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, noted in Mr. McCain???s records that there were two biopsies of the left temple. Dr. Eckstein???s note did not say where and when the biopsies were performed. The Armed Forces report cited one biopsy, so presumably a second was performed in Scottsdale. The Armed Forces pathologists said a melanoma had developed over a skin scar whose origin was unclear..........

The Armed Forces pathologists did not speak in the teleconference in May 2008, and questions raised by their report have remained unanswered. The selected reporters did not ask about that report, and the Mayo Clinic doctors did not discuss it. A complete Mayo pathology report was apparently not included in the pool summary...........

If Mr. McCain???s 2000 left-temple melanoma was a metastasis, as the Armed Forces pathologists??? report suggested, it would be classified as Stage III. The reclassification would change his statistical odds for survival at 10 years from about 60 percent to 36 percent, according to a published study..............

McCAIN HEALTH PROBLEMS = PALIN S PRESIDENCY! HELLOOOO!!!!!!!

As Paul Nyden reports in the Charleston Gazette:
Shelba Ketchum, a 69-year-old nurse retired from Thomas Memorial Hospital, described what happened Friday at the Putnam County Courthouse in Winfield.
"I pushed buttons and they all came up Republican," she said. "I hit Obama and it switched to McCain. I am really concerned about that. If McCain wins, there was something wrong with the machines.
"I asked them for a printout of my votes," Ketchum said. "But they said it was in the machine and I could not get it. I did not feel right when I left the courthouse. My son felt the same way.
"I heard from some other people; they also had trouble. But no one in there knew how to fix it," said Ketchum, who is not related to Menis Ketchum, a Democratic Supreme Court candidate.
Ketchum's son, Chris, said he had the same problem. And Bobbi Oates of Scott Depot said her vote for incumbent Democratic Sen. Jay Rockefeller was switched to GOP opponent Jay Wolfe.
"I touched the one I wanted, Rockefeller, and the machine put a checkmark on the Republican instead," Oates said of her experience Thursday.

On CNN it was commented last week (last presidential debate week) that 80% of the bottom taxpayers lost 600 billions and the top 20% gained 600 billions. Is that a transfer of wealth or what. What Bush have done with his tax cut and now the 700 billions bailout, isn???t that a transfer of wealth?

Cindy McCain is paying 28% taxes out of 4.2 Millions and people around the 200K are paying 33%-36%?. Can someone do the math here? Benefit to richest only?

What is going on with journalist and reporters out there!!!!

On Obama friends may influence his views or tell about ???judgment???...........
Well you should ask McCain how palling with Gordon Liddy, Pastor Hagee, Keating five, Mustafa Abu Naba'a, Ali Jawad, Oliver North, John Singlaub and U.S. Council for World Freedom, Kemper Marley, Don Diamond, Marylin Shannon have shaped his views. And what does that say about his judgment.

What about his association with segregationist senators and ex- KKK like Byrd, has that make him a segregationist as well?

And what about Sarah and Todd Palin membership with Alaska Independence Party ??? the party of anti-American Joe Vogler What is Todd s influence as husband and shadow governor getting involved in her job and policies. And Sarah s friend Mark Chryson and Steve Stoll members of the AIP as well. What are their influences?

You are all missing the point. The question is whether you think its right to take hard earned money from those that earned it and give it to those that didnt. I don't think its right, but alot of you do think its right. I'm sure alot of you are the ones that are actually getting the money, you shouldnt be allowed to vote. So, if you are on welfare and/or do not work 40 hours a week for your money you should do the right thing and not vote. Just don't vote unless you are productive. If anyone needs me to look at their specific situation to determine if they are productive or not, and therefore deserve the right to vote I will be happy to. Thanks!

      • Posted By: billtill @ 10/22/2008 2:44:52 PM

Do you think it should be considered a conflict of interest to be able to vote for someone who can give you a tax refund when you don't work? Do you think thats good for motivating people to work hard and get ahead?

      • Posted By: billtill @ 10/22/2008 2:43:08 PM

wendy do you think its logical to give a "Tax Refund" to people who paid no tax at all?

    • Posted By: wendydk @ 10/22/2008 2:12:17 PM

billtill: The vast majority of people who receive assistance are working. Most of them are single mothers working low paying service jobs, trying to raise kids and fighting in court for child support that comes slowly or not at all. My sister, for instance, has worked the same job for 10 years, and her ex husband owes over $18,000 in child support.

You can say "get a better job", but someone has to wait tables where you eat out, take your money at the gas station, and clean your hotel rooms. The majority of these people did not have the resources to go to college and have families to support.

And BTW, the last President to reform welfare was a Democrat, and Obama has similar plans. Your comments about taking your "hard earned money" and giving to "people without jobs" is off the mark.

      • Posted By: billtill @ 10/22/2008 2:40:39 PM

Do you know the statistics and situation of the people who are receiving the assistance? Can you tell me that there are no illegal aliens that receive this money? Can you also tell me that this assistance has not promoted a sense of laziness amongst recipients? Why would they work hard, if someone is going to pay their way? Can you prove to me that of the millions of illegal aliens coming across the border to become citizens and get this assistance legally would have come had they not known they could get such assistance? Do you not see the point? Maybe if it wasnt so easy to get free money, people wouldn't end up in situations like they are in? Come on please tell me you are catching on to this.
