Flawed Thinking

Abortion is far from the only moral issue that Catholics must face. Those who think it is--such as the Denver Archbishop--are shortsighted and misguided. As Prof. Kmiec and others have pointed out, Obama's stands are in line with the Church's positions on prolife issues such as torture, the death penalty, criminal and social justice, and the Iraq war--not to mention the "option for the poor." If the question is which candidate will follow Jesus' direction to feed the poor, clothe the naked, and provide consolation to prisoners, the answer is obviously Senator Obama.

Several points should be made here.

1 - Republicans have NO INTEREST in making abortion illegal. To do so would alienate many more people than it would please, and, it would make abortion a non-issue in future elections, possibly losing some pro-life voters. What IS in their interest is the status quo - talk up the issue, collect the pro-life vote, get elected, then ignore the issue until the next election. It seems to work.

2 - The Catholic Church is also pro-life in its opposition to the death penalty. If you think you need to oppose pro-choice candidates to be a good Catholic, you should similarly oppose any candidate who supports the death penalty.

To chris... and your point? The Devil rays change their name last year. Congratulate them, not score a gottcha on a petty point. Grow up or are you still at home smoking your dope?

I don't believe that this should be the critera we use to pick a president. Because the choice to carry a baby to term, IS the mother's. Sure we can make it illegal, and she can also choose to end it by illegal means. According to God's law, killing is wrong but, He also gives us free will.

Our society has both parents working, with teens left home alone, with women and teens over 21 using
abortion as a form of birth control. It's because we fail to educate our society on values and to honor life before they have intercourse and fail to use protection. Indeed, I am against abortion. Nonetheless, if we do not edcuate people on using protection, and Roe v. Wade is repealed -- we go back to coat-hanger and dark room abortions. There were abortions BEFORE Roe v. Wade. So, the matter is education, and putting forth an effort to teach teens not to have intercourse (well at least before putting on protection), and as parents we have to teach our children (and the schools, churches, social groups, etc.) the value of life. I've studied more than 100 teen girls in high school, and many were on their second or third abortion. But, they were in a birthing program and most would adopt them out. I also do not agree with adoption organizations---though adoption is a means to protecting an abortiion -- it gives light that having sex is ok and that it is an excuse for giving birth, then farming the child out. Adoption agencies have become farms for allowing women and teens to have prematutre sex. But, it also forcing girls to give birth to a child they did not want. The problem rest with values, ethics and education. Just my opinion(s).

Lets put every single issue to rest once and for all. Barack/Osama, ObamaBinLaden, (joined at the hip of Islam), is perpertrating the greatest theft known to mankind. What is that you ask? Answer: Because there are just too many left-wing, radical, anti-Capitalistic Americans, he could become President! Imagine, a President of the United States who hates our great nation as does his spouse, yet is able with the help of those lemmings (democrats) hollywood mindless baboons(stars & starlets) and the main stream media, gets elected and who will take a once great nation and hand it over to islamic radicals. For those of you that are lying on Obama, YOU need Jesus! Obama believes what the Supreme Court states that up until 3 months or when the embryo turns into a fetus, a woman has the right to choose. After the 1st trimester, a woman does not have that right unless the state does not ban abortion, the woman???s health or life is at risk. McCain believes in abortion only for rape, incest or the life of the mother and Sarah believes only for the life of the mother. Both of them want the decision to be returned to the state which pretty much already exists.
When did God give Sarah Palin and John McCain the power to decide when and if it is okay to abort? If abortion is wrong, then why are they advocating abortion in situations that THEY deem appropriate? If it is God???s law that the Catholics and Evangelicals are suppose to be standing on, then please give us the scripture to support that God gave them authority to amend His laws! Oh, I forgot, you can find that in the book of not at all because God did not give them that authority.
If the Catholics and Evangelicals are so holy, then why are they supporting John McCain the adulterer? What? God has given McCain and Cindy a get out of hell pass and will send the ones that abort to hell? LOL If these people were concerned about God???s laws, they would not be supporting John McCain. In the below scripture, we find that John and Cindy McCain unless they repent will go to hell. In their present state, they do not represent God so how can they represent a supposedly godly nation? They cannot! If you are going to crucify Obama, then crucify McCain and if not, then stop picking and choosing which sin to accept and which to condemn. It???s called being a hypocrite!

Obama voted against a bill to outlaw partial birth abortions because it did not include the ability to abort if the mother's life was in danger. This would have been an unconstitutional law that the supreme court would have shot down without a doubt. Obama tried to include language considering the health of the mother but was not supported. Weak-willed pseudo-Catholics can rationalize it until eternity, but- although it is sophisticatedly nuanced to abide the pluralistic sensibilities of our nation- there is only one way to understand the Catholic Bishop's profound guidance in "Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenships". Irrefutably, the Church's guidance that, if there is another choice, a Catholic in good standing cannot support a pro-choice candidate. Indeed, to do so is a direct jeopardy to one's personal salvation. God is the author and owner of all life. To suggest that we, who only exist in Him, can decide the fate of His children more wisely than the perfect and all-loving Lord, is to commit the same damning sin of pride that felled Satan. Catholics who are true to their faith- not partisans for one party or the other- can never fail to thwart a grievous intrinsic evil, if they have the means to do so. In light of this non-negotiable binding moral truth, it is rank cowardice and self-deception to take the position that "we can never defeat this evil of abortion, so let's just try to mitigate it and move other to other important issues that we misguidedly deem are morally equivalent". If Catholics really had the faith in God that we are called to have, they would know that abortion can be totally eradicated- not just "reduced." How? It's simple. All true Catholics simply refuse to support Obama, because of his morally reprehensible and unacceptable radical advocacy of murdering innocent children. The result would be that he would lose, in a totally unexpected phenomenal reverse blowout. The idea that supporting abortion is either right or politically useful, would immediately disappear. More pro-life justices would be appointed. Abortion would be gone, to the devil, if Roe were overturned, and went back to the states- and Catholics, who predominate in all our large/key states remained steadfast in their overwhelming opposition. So, enough with this heinous and against-God cop-out that we can't eliminate abortion. If we Catholics stand up and vote as God, and His church, and a properly formed conscience mandate us, by November 4 we would have turned this country around, for good. And the Lord would bless us all abundantly!
