In response to this drivel: "I bet it will be hard to find anyone that will admit to voting for him..."--uptohere (11/18/2008 3:22:41 PM)
You seem ever so slightly stressed-out, very prejudiced, and extremely uncivilized. Take a deep breath and find your inner child....got him, now? That's good, now give him a good spanking...just for me.
No matter how the Obama years turn-out, you can bet they'll be better than the Bush years by several orders of magnitude, and you can bet that ther are millions of us who are proud--and will remain proud--to tell the world that we voted for Mr. Obama.
Yes We DID!
You liberal SOB's should spend your time looking into the President Elect.....other than he is Black ( which is the only reason he won) there are a majority of people that do not much if anything about him. I hope he does a great job but, if he does not, I bet it will be hard to find anyone that will admit to voting for him. For now Newsweek, why don't you find something that will actually help our country to report on? F@#!&*^ scum!
Gee, I wonder what Obie and Michelle were wearing and how much per suit? I sure hope The Obies did not spend too much on the really UGLY dress Mrs. Obie had on election night. Eeeeeegads!
Too bad the Liberal MSM can't seem to investigate ANYTHING Obama! They would rather talk about Palins cloths.
Little LIPSTICK BOY Obama seems to get a pass on even this. You would think the media would have tried to redeem them selves on this subject since they passed on all of the really bad stuff to get him elected.
Haha barack made that comment about the pig. Goes to show you the intellect of those who voted for him.
Poor, poor palin. Much like charlie brown during his high school days, "WHY IS EVERYONE PICKING ON ME" ? Similar to the Bible proverb that states "it's not what goes into the belly that defiles one" It's not the clothes one wears that defiles them, rather their CHARACTER OF THE ONE WEARING THE CLOTHES. Integrity and morality are not define by what one wears. As her running mate decried on several occasions, "YOU CAN PUT LIPSTICK ON A PIG; IT'S STILL A PIG"
Can't help but make another comment about your revelations. Instead of reporting the brand names of the clothes as reported by sales people name one person who ever sold her anything.
Give us the photos taken by anyone on your staff, or any one that shows that the Governor ever went on a shopping spreed.
Betcha can't do it, becuase she never did the shopping. The RNC bought clothes in several sizes for use on the campaign.
If you're going to report, at least report the truth. I know its been a long time and your reporters have forgotten what truth is, or just refuse to report it.
Your total transparent like of credibility is truly amazing.
Our prediction is that you won't be around much longer.
You guys owe the Governor of Alaska an apology. I bet you wouldn't think about disparaging your candidate with a foolish term.
If you want to really be intellectually honest, the reason Mccain didn't do better was because the Republican primaries in some states were opened to independents and democrats. Mccain is liked by the left as long as he isn't challenging a Dem for the white house. Just like hillary was a left wing icon till someone further left appeared. You don't win an election as a Republican by abandoning the base. A real conservative would have done better. Palin was a threat as a real conservative with charisma. That is why the attack hounds started coming as soon as she stole attention from the annointed one obama. I guess it is ok for to spend 600 milion on a campaign as long as you are a dem. Otherwise "bliss" would be crying foul.
Comparing Palin's before and after selection wardrobes expose the "if you have the money to spend, you will spend it," philosophy of many Americans. Unfortunately, as we see in today's credit crisis, most Americans don't have the money but spend it anyway. All of us would like to buy the kind of clothes she bought, probably with the aid of a professional stylist also provided by the campaign (see pink outfit in grocery store) but haven't been given a credit card without a clear limit. She looked professional, well dressed, and well groomed. And her family, which the media plundered for headlines certainly had to look nice as well. What did the RNC want? The days of Pat Nixon's good Republican cloth coat are over. Cindy McCain easily affords the designer duds she wears, did they want Palin to look like the shirt-tail relatives from Wasilla? I am and was an Obama supporter and was thrilled that McCain/Palin lost but blaming Palin's wardrobe is ridiculous. Blame her selection in the first place. Blame the Bush administration, blame the negative campaign which is now turning on itself! These same people who failed to bash Obama are now bashing Palin. RNC should get rid of them and start over and take a lesson from the Obama campaign. Next time try Pawlenty instead. Gijsie
Palin is a lying bafoon. Wal-Mart, hockey mom, my ***. You can be sure we'd see the same article if it was Michelle.
I'm a successful business woman and I am not at all offended by this story. Palin portrayed herself as an everyday hockey mom, therefore it is her problem if she torpedoed her own image. Her spending was excessive and showed poor judgment. This is not sexist at all and I remember John Edwards getting plenty of heat over his $400(?) haircut.
To those trying to link this to the money spent by Obama on his campaign I can only suggest that if you can see a similarity between the two, then you are as fundamentally lacking in intellectual integrity as Palin.
Where is your story on the 600 million obama spent to buy the election?
Is "Caribou Barbie Goes Couture" supposed to be journalism?
This is so far beneath Newsweek I'm nauseated. As a woman in politics, I'm also ending my subscription.
Obama opted out of public finaning knowing that he was rasing money from hard working people desperate for a perceived change. So much for walking the walk.

Umm 2 things....
1. It's Ignorant
2. It's Maverick
Sheesh
Umm calling people ignorant is usually better when you spell ignorant correctly and perhaps maverick as well...sheesh
You people are so ignorent. WE, the OBAMA supporters spent $600 million dollars, or whatever the total figure was to help him get elected.
FYI, he never went on record acting like a mavrick who buys clothes at a thrift shop, then spends $150,000 + on fancy clothes. So the issue has more to do with walking the walk, and talking the talk, then it does about the money that was spent.
