I guess it is ok to for obama to spend 600 million on campaign as long as you are the politically correct candidate.

  • Posted By: brooklynman222 @ 11/07/2008 3:21:07 PM

Election is over. If you want to pick on someone ask why obama bought the election for 600 million dollars.

  • Posted By: brooklynman222 @ 11/07/2008 3:06:06 PM

Palin's clothes area an issue? How about the 600 million dollars Obama spent to buy the election? And you have the nerve to talk about clothing? Some people need to go back to journalism school.

Uh, ObamaDrama, do you have any credible evidence Obama got fraudulent votes because of ACORN or is this just sour grapes?

  • Posted By: Sharon3550 @ 11/07/2008 10:50:25 AM

So, obamaDrama, do you have any credible evidence there were fraudulent votes because of ACORN

  • Posted By: marlene Emond @ 11/07/2008 1:13:52 AM

If Palin bought her own clothes, no one would be commenting about her expensive clothes. Plus, she keeps saying she is frugal. We found her to tell lies every day about Obama. She will keep lying.

  • Posted By: Meadowlark @ 11/06/2008 7:38:01 PM

It occurs to me that if one presents oneself as an unsophisticated hick one should not be wearing extremely expensive clothes. Hicks
do not generally wear Akris or St. John

This magazine is nothing but the National Enquirer. I am so glad I don't have a subscription b/c I would promptly cancel it if I did.

This is sexism at its worst. The next woman who runs for president or vice president will be subject to this crap? We don't see men treated like this.

  • Posted By: clp2008 @ 11/06/2008 3:11:50 PM

What an incredibly sexist and insulting so-called "reporting" that descends to tabloid magazine! I was appalled by the media's focus on trivialities while ignoring greater issues that are newsworthy during this tiring campaign. How much did we learn about the candidates policies and how much did the media really combed through various issues in this campaign that didn't descend into the level of groundless gossip? Great job, Newsweek. Now you have proved that you are not much better than the Enquirer.

  • Posted By: hankochai @ 11/06/2008 2:42:13 PM

This is probably the most despicable, sexist pieces of "reporting" I've ever seen from Newsweek. The catty comments from snooty high-end store clerks are especially reprehensible.

First of all, in the name of all those who are contributing to this film, I would like to
    thank you for the
interest you have shown in our project. In a way, this film is the story of the over 40 million
Kurds living in the world. My aim with this project is to leave the new generation and the
world an example of the cultural heritage of humankind, as well as telling the world our
history and culture in the language of cinema. To make such a film in Turkey is very important, particularly if one looks at the films made about Kurds up to date. Up to now no historical or cultural films have been made in this country, and as a Kurd I have been trying to make the ???Brukan??? film happen for the last two years in order to fill this gap. During this time I met with several actors and firms interested in partnerships. However, our aims always clashed. These people only approached
the project with financial gains in mind. Their attitude made me feel more protective about my project. I have been looking for partners who would embrace this project and have met with
people in several European countries. But I have to say that I have been touched most by your interest and suggestions. In addition, our shared roots have honoured me. Personally, I am not interested in how much ???profit??? I am going to make. But I wish with all my heart that my friends who support the project benefit financially and otherwise. My only stipulation is that I want to put aside 3% for educational projects. Agreeing on the rest should be very easy. I see you as a companion and together with you I would like to realise the ???Brukan??? film, which will introduce our culture and history to the world. I sincerely believe that by working together we will make a film that will target world cinema. We have written the story of the project, but of course there are shortcomings. A written scenario or story is not absolutely necessary and, working together, we can develop both. I believe that with this project we can develop an international film that becomes our culture and history. I am sure that in the following stages we will collaborate in agreement and make up the shortcomings of the project. The biggest problem of the project is its funding, but I am sure that with your collaboration and support we will overcome this
problem. I would like to reiterate that I would like to collaborate with you on the ???Brukan??? project from the bottom of my heart and I invite you to work with me on an international
project. May this film be a valuable creation to leave to the next generation.

    Yours sincerely,

    Kas??m GÜLTEK??N/Producror

With polls showing a tightening race for the White House, it looks like the Catholic vote again may be crucial to the outcome.
And an Oct. 23 poll records a startling 20-point swing this week among Catholic voters in favor of John McCain.
The IBD/TIPP daily tracking poll found Republican candidate McCain ahead of Democratic presidential candidate 48%-39% among the Catholics in its survey.
The shift was part of a strong overall swing toward McCain in the IBD/TIPP poll.
???McCain has cut into Obama???s lead for a second day and is now just 1.1 points behind. The spread was 3.7 Wednesday and 6.0 Tuesday,??? a press release stated. ???The Republican is making headway with middle- and working- class voters, and has surged 10 points in two days among those earning between $30,000 and $75,000. He has also gone from an 11-point de???cit to a 9-point lead among Catholics.???

Sorry augustman1955. My wife and I are one of those small business owners that Obama wants to come after. I had to go to the bank to deposit some of our ill-gotten profits that Obama wants to spread around. In some ways I do compare Obama's economic ideas with Stalin and it's Kruschev by the way. In a socialist system simply put the government controls the money and in theory the government takes care of the population. Kind of what I hear in Obama's campaign speeches. Does that 95% of Americans who will be getting the tax breaks include the 40% that don't pay income taxes. If it does that is redistribution of wealth which is a form of socialism. This country already has the highest corporate tax rate in the entire world. Any wonder corporations move somewhere else? I understand Exxon paid 40% of their earnings in taxes last year. We have truly become a nation of whiners.

    • Posted By: nimodahooligan @ 10/23/2008 4:34:44 PM

your not complaining about firefighters or the police force, or social security...all forms of socialism...come on man...

      • Posted By: lalaladoza @ 10/27/2008 11:37:16 AM

Or schools, medicare, social security.....those damn socialist programs!

      • Posted By: mrzoid @ 10/23/2008 4:43:46 PM

Oh, they don't like to talk about things like that. Roads and bridges, dams, education, public transportation; those are more difficult to complain about than taxes. Nevermind the simple fact that the tax rate they speak of as being one of the highest in the world, once adjusted for loopholes and write-offs, we have one of the lowest real corporate tax rates in the world. When are people going to stop pretending that they could survive without socialism? What they call "socialism", knowledgable people call general public service and infrastructure.

    • Posted By: Texanna33 @ 10/24/2008 12:25:23 AM

If, after paying all of your business expenses, payroll, insurance, and any write offs you have and you are netting over $250,000 a year; I have no pity for your losing a tax loop hole.

................................What happened to Palin being the Average Working Woman, Small Town Values Gal, Plane Neighborhood Type, the Hockey Mom and all of the jive they were giving us about "Sweet Sarah" back in August during the Convention?? It seems that Palin has done a bit of Social Climbing since she was a Local City Councilwoman in little 7,000 Populated Wasilla, AK. This political shopping spree cost about 75 times more than the average American woman spends per YEAR on clothing ($1,874 as reported by the U.S.Dept. of Labor). Sarah looks like a major hypocrit when she talks about being for Joe Average, Joe the Plumber or Joe the Barber, she has found out that politics pays off big time if one "plays their cards right". She has discovered early that the Republican Party is the Party of the Rich and Influential and she has been parlaying her good looks and gift of chatter to bring in Big Bucks for herself and her family.........By the way, what happened to hubby Todd Palin and his job in the Oil Industry.......Are the Republicans funding Todd well also??? It does not appear that he needs to work for a living any more, just wear a coat and tie and grin alot...with no messy oil spills to deal with!!!! Sarah Palin may be looking good on the Campaign Trail in those fine clothes with the upscale Gianfranco Ferre, St. John and Anne Klein labels that the Average Woman can no way afford but I am not impressed with her and all that has been said about her since "Maverick" McCain brought her onboard at the Convention......Palin is a Loose Cannon and more negative reports will be coming out about her, her sharp mouth and total inexperience and qualifications for the V.P. Office......Just give her mord time for it all to unfold!!!!

      • Posted By: Obama Drama @ 10/27/2008 10:31:44 AM

I see you don't care that Obama gave $800,000.00 of his donated money from you Americans to purchase fraudulent votes through Acorn?
I guess hiring Opra's stylist and that is ok for Mitchell? I guess spending $5,000.00 on each suit with donated money is ok if your last name is Obama.

    • Posted By: stormerF @ 10/23/2008 11:14:50 PM

you are an idoit thr RNC bought and owns the clothes and will sell, auction or donate them soon.

      • Posted By: nimodahooligan @ 10/24/2008 9:32:10 AM

show some proof of that, i bet a cool 20,000 gets put back in her closet...at least...it is after all "public" money, not RNC

    SARAH FEEL'S PRETTY

(I Feel Pretty, West Side Story)

    WilliamBanzai7

    SARAH
    I feel pretty,
    Oh, so pretty,
I feel pretty and witty and even bright!
    And I pity
Any trailer girl who isn't me tonight.

    I feel charming,
    Oh, so charming
It's alarming how charming I feel!
    And so pretty
That I hardly can believe I'm real.

See the pretty hockey mom in that mirror there:
Who can that attractive mom be?
Such a pretty Vice Presidential face,
    Such a pretty $5000 dress,
Such a pretty red lipsticked smile,
    Such a pretty me!

    I feel stunning
    And entrancing,
Feel like running and dancing for joy,
    For I'm loved
By a bunch of GOP red necked cowboys!

    GIRLS
Have you met our good friend Sarah,
The craziest girl on Joe sixpacks block?
You'll know her the minute you see her,
She's the one who got a broken clock.

    She thinks she's smart.
She thinks she's got a great campaign.
    She isn't smart,
    She's merely shopping McCain insane.

It must be the campaign heat
    Or some rare hypocritical disease,
Or too much foies gras to eat
    Or maybe it's media fleas.

    Keep away from her,
    Send for Gap Chinos!
    This is not the
    Sara we thought we knew!

    SARAH
    I feel pretty,
    Oh, so pretty
That the District should give me its key.
    A Senate committee
Should be organized to honor me.

    GIRLS
    La la la la . . .

    SARAH
    I feel dizzy,
    I feel sunny,
I feel fizzy and funny and fine,
    And so pretty,
That the Miss GOP title can be mine!

"The use of campaign funds for items which most Americans would consider to be strictly personal reasons, in my view, erodes public confidence and erodes it significantly."
    John McCain

    • Posted By: Obama Drama @ 10/27/2008 10:17:56 AM

To use funds on personnal items? where ya been buddy? Mitchell O had a whole tranformation by Opra people remember that?
What is more sad - using $150,000.00 for cloths or $800.000.00 on Acorn and lying about it in order to get fradulent votes?
Obama is being elected by fools like you

  • Posted By: scalpaca @ 10/26/2008 2:17:50 PM

The clothing budget for Palin is par for the course when it comes to many in the Republican establishment and clearly indicates that the party has lost touch with mainstream Americans. It's the same outdated policy that has the McCain party emphasizing Obama's middle name to stir controversy and create a correlation with terrorism. Maybe they should look around and their fellow Americans and realize that America is and always has been a melting pot and not every plumber's name is Joe. The Palin spending spree is just another indicator for me that the Republican party doesn't understand fiscal responsibility any more than it understands the demographics of this country.

    • Posted By: Obama Drama @ 10/27/2008 10:14:00 AM

EHow much do you think the Obama people paid for Mitchell's new look.? Remember all the fuse on that topic about 2 months ago. Hillary spent $6000.00 per pant suit. Obama went from 500 suits to 5000.00 suits. GOP paid $150,000.00 That's 10 suits for Obama - 3 pant suits for Hillary.
What is more disturbing to everyone - that the GOP spent $150,000 on cloths for the Palin family or Obama spent $800,000.00 to Acorn to go get fraudulant voters?

  • Posted By: Unbridled Truth @ 10/27/2008 3:37:28 AM

Now who is the Elite? I don't make t50 k in two years (full-time WORK), NEEDS clothes? If she and her family NEEDS clothes, maybe she shouldn't have spent 35k on a tanning bed for the governor's mansion. But then if she had needs, like clothing, and the RNC has to purchase them for her, maybe she is not qualified to be president. After all, neither the RNC or DNC worry about my needs ..... like dental care for my family. For 150k, they could have pulled all my teeth, replaced them and had money left over to donate to charity!

    • Posted By: Obama Drama @ 10/27/2008 10:08:44 AM

And what could you have done with the $800,000.00 that Obama gave Acorn to get fraudulent votes for him. A house, car, more than 150,00 in cloths, health care - dental care

  • Posted By: Obama Drama @ 10/27/2008 10:06:16 AM

New week - NYT -MSNBC - Obama Lovers -
GOP admits spending $150,000.00 for cloths everyone reports it -
Obama pays $800,000.00 for votes and lies about it's affilation with Acorn
What really bothers Americans more - ???????

  • Posted By: Obama Drama @ 10/27/2008 10:02:32 AM

    GOP spent $150,000 on cloths
Obama spent $800,00 for votes with Acorn
which bothers the American People more or for that fact the smearing press more?

  • Posted By: pezled @ 10/27/2008 7:33:59 AM

If she WERE elite, she would already HAVE $150,000 worth of clothes. Somebody figure out how much Ms. O spends on her wardrobe, then we'll talk......
