"A former Newsweek reporter admitted in an article this week that he has no objectivity and imagined disabling Rudy Giuliani so he wouldn't run in the presidential primary race last year.
Michael Hastings wrote in GQ magazine that he had a "recurring fantasy" that he could somehow stop the former New York City mayor in his tracks.
"I quickly realized Rudy was a maniac. I had a recurring fantasy in which I took him out during a press conference (it was nonlethal, just something that put him out of commission for a year or so), saving America from the horror of a President Giuliani. If that sounds like I had some trouble being 'objective,' I did. Objectivity is a fallacy," he said."

    Comment: THE GREAT BUSH DEPRESSION
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
He perfectly predicted the current meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen next
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide ,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch , Fanny and Freddy Mae ,AIG
The government took them over because they are bankrupt. Even with the goverment nationalizing hundreds of billions of dollars in debt the stock market is crashing
the credit markets are frozen and all of us may suffer beyond anything seen in generations
McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand how its been broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use quantum mathematical models very few people understand.
Bush and McCain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.
Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.
Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy. He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He was the last to know somthing was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime. Check out this link to the truth http://my.barackobama.com/keatingvideo
It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a budget surplus like Bush did but a crashing economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit. Most of it Bush created and it will take decades to pay it back.
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why are the polls even close then ?
Mccains team just said they no longer want to talk about the economy.Instead they would like to spend time talking about obama
which means running the biggest smear campaign in history.
They think they can just tell you lies and you wont be smart enough to see through it
Let's teach him we are smarter than that
Stand up and hold them accountable
Bush isn't on the ballot this year but his policies are
    Elect Obama Biden 2008

As a 55 year old woman who has worked 35 years as a full time professional, I have not spent $150,000 in my entire lifetime on clothing, let alone in 7 weeks. Most working women I know right now dealing with shrinking retirement accounts know where TJ Maxx and Marshall's is. And, the other night I really boiled when John McCain railed against Obama's tax plan "taking money from the most productive Americans." Let's tell the cleaning woman who works double shifts at the country club to afford her rental that she is "less productive" than the Cosmo sipping ladies by the pool, because even though she works 12 hours a day she isn't as productive an American as those who inherited and stock optioned their way to wealth. I wonder how much money Joe the Plumber spent on his work clothes last year? The final implication of wealth is that if Sarah Palin donates the wardrobe she can have a whopping charitable deduction to offset any money that she would actually have to pay as income. I sure wish I could deduct the cost of my "work clothes" at the end of each tax year. Rove was on TV today to complain about shrinking "portfolios" and how increasing taxes would hurt these I wonder what percentage of hard-working Americans have a little more to worry about than shrinking millionaires' portfolios.

You for got to ask if the DNC bought any clothes for OBAMA? and who really owns the clothes and what charity will they be donated to.As with the RNC buying and donating the clothes they bought for Sarah..You must be stupid to make so much out of so little, when the clothes are not hers. How much has Obama's Campaign spent on food??????

      • Posted By: ICYEYES800 @ 10/24/2008 10:53:56 PM

IF you are going to judge the amount of money spent on food by the size of Michelle Osama's butt, I'd be willing to bet that she's EATEN MORE THAN $150,000.00...I swear that is a MAN....it's got an adams apple and could be a FOOTBALL PLAYER....Hell, Cindy McCain looks like Barbie and Michelle looks like KING KONG.....I'v noticed Cindy backing up when Michelle approaches her...RUN,,,, McCain/Palin '08

      • Posted By: MyVoiceHeard @ 10/24/2008 4:41:29 AM

Let's get real- Obama is going to raise taxes for everyone. Just like Bill Clinton did, despite running on a "no new taxes" campaign. Most of the people who are going to be hit hard by taxes are those people that have done everything right- stay in school, go to college (with loans), and have married someone who has done the same thing, giving them a decent income, but disqualifying them from any type of aide to send their children to college, so they mortgage their homes up to do it. Very few people are sipping cosmos by the pool! Probably less than 1% of Americans.

Let's get REAL here...Osama is spending 70million dollars in the month of October to appear on my television every FIVE SECONDS....and yall are squalking about this small amout of money for a Presidential nominee to spen on clothes???? SOMEBODY needs a reality check...Osama is continuously embellishing himself and attempting to draw the praise of followers.....I would wonder how much it costs to have THE ONE"S OWN PERSON SEAL applied to an airplane?? I am hoping that the AMERICAN PATRIOT's vote is NOT FOR SALE to anybody....especially B.HUSSEIN. OSAMA...................McCain/Palin '08

150K for hair, make-up and clothes. This makes Edward's 400 haircut and Clinton's 200 haircut seems like a bargain. The WingNut of the GOP don't always think before they criticize. For everything they accuse the Democrates of doing, they same to SuperSize the issues themselves. Remember Bill Clinton the red-neck who eats at McDonalds. What's Palin (I kill everything I eat) but a red-neck on steroid. A caller name John E. in NC would like to dedicate this song to Gov't Palin: " I feel pretty, oh so pretty ...etc"

Why is McCain's campaign struggling? One stupid mistake after stupid mistake beginning with Sarah 666 Palin.

A Special Interest / Private Interest Sort of VP in Palin

68 % of the women in America earn $25,000. in annual salary, NOT $22,800. EVERY TWO WEEKS just to make Sarah look good. WOW! Based on these numbers Sarah if were elected her traveling make up artist would earn $592,800.00 annually. That would be over 23 times more than the average American woman earns annually!

This shows what a fool McCain is.

On 09-or-08 the Texas Chronicle reported that John McCain and Sarah Palin today cast the new Republican presidential ticket as a team of determined reformers eager to challenge Washington's political establishment. "John McCain doesn't run with the Washington herd," said Palin, the 44-year-old Alaska governor and surprise pick as McCain's running mate. "It's over. It's over. It's over for the special interests," McCain promised. "We're going to start working for the people of this country."

How is purchasing $150,000.00 in clothing and paying a private jet setting make-up artist $22,800.00 in two weeks WORKING FOR THE PEOPLE OF OUR COUNTRY?

In the grand scheme of things, is 150k a lot? No, but it demonstrates beautifully how out of touch the reps are. They actually think this is normal behavior that she spends more on her clothes in one afternoon than I spent on my home over 30 years. That is exactly why the economy is in shambles, reps have no concept of money, 150k or 150 billion...its meaningless to them.

  • Posted By: Nins @ 10/24/2008 11:14:16 AM

It turns out that RNC has spent $150,000 on clothes for Sarah Palin. They also spent $100 for a romper and hat for little Trig, which he wore on stage at the GOP convention.

A hundred dollar onesie? (And these people are saying that Obama would be a profligate spender.)

Did you know that the outfit Cindy McCain wore when she appeared at the convention cost $330,000?

The RNC says that later Sarah's clothes will be donated to charity. OK, so some homeless person will get to wear this stuff on the streets of New Orleans. (Maybe this is the RNC's version of "trickle down spending.") But wouldn't the homeless be better served by $150,000 donation to a shelter or a food bank than by designer clothing?

Fifteen years ago, McCain wrote an amendment to tighten the law on using campaign funds for personal items like clothing and stylists. In May of 1993, McCain said this on the Senate floor "The use of campaign funds for items which most Americans would consider to be strictly personal reasons, in my view, erodes public confidence and erodes it significantly."

I guess he forgot what his prior position was. Again.

Just like he forgot that he used to be pro-Choice and pro-gay marriage and pro-immigration reform. He also forgot that he used to be afiliated with ACORN, and with G. Gordon Liddy. If he is lying to cover up what his prior positions have been, shame on him. If he really can't remember, maybe the detractors who claim his mind is aging are correct.

One last thought: is the GOP paying for Bristol Palin's maternity wear?

  • Posted By: John Conrad @ 10/24/2008 8:55:48 AM

I'm an old independent who's voted for both Republicans and Democrats over the past 40 years. I don't care what kind of clothes Sarah Palin wears and who paid for them. I don't even care if she takes them back to Alaska with her. What I do find mildly amusing is that the McCain/Palin campaign advisers want to portray her as a salt-of-the-earth hockey mom that middle class women can identify with, and then trot her off to buy new clothes at a couple of the most expensive clothing stores in the country. I must admit, however, that she looks fine in them.

It's the right's response to the issue that I do find interesting, even delightful. My late father had a saying that I believe appies here: "Bit dogs holler." What I see is a group of fellow Americans who apparently believe --- against all evidence to the contrary --- that Sarah Palin is qualified to be Vice President much less President. And when she gets caught up in a minor controversy like this --- and it is minor --- they respond ten-fold by lashing out at everyone and everything in earshot. Cute, but sort of sad.

To borrow a signature phrase from the man I supported for President in 2000: My friends, you may vote to extend the policies of the Bush administration because you are afraid for the future and the changes we will face. Or you can vote for someone who will lead us into that future. I choose the latter.

Hillary Clinton's designer, Susanna Chung Forest admits to 'giving' her countless $7,000 suits to wear during her campaign. Is that more ethical or newsworthy than the republican party actually paying for Sarah Palin's clothes?

    • Posted By: nimodahooligan @ 10/23/2008 4:32:53 PM

people give gifts all the time...

most dont get gifts using the publics (RNC) money...but however you want to look at it...

      • Posted By: WalkinWithJesus @ 10/23/2008 5:28:48 PM

I donated to the RNC, and if they choose to use it to buy clothing for Sarah Palin, than so be it. Good for her! She deserves it after having her family drug through the mud, and continually lambasted by the media and liberals. She's been under the microscope for so long, less energy and time is being spent paying attention to the actual presidential candidates and their plans for our country. Looks like way too many people have their priorities all wrong.

        • Posted By: nimodahooligan @ 10/24/2008 10:01:37 AM

yea, people do have they're priorities wrong, 150,000 dollar shopping spree sounds wrong when the candidates of the party are shouting that they are concerned about the economy and that its the "focus" of the McSame Campaign

        • Posted By: nimodahooligan @ 10/24/2008 9:16:41 AM

under a microscope for so long???shes hasnt been around longer than 3-4 months...thats a long time to be under scrutiny when shes avoiding questions and the media constantly? OF COURSE shes under scrutiny, shes running for VICE PRESIDENT OF THE FREE WORLD...

    • Posted By: mrzoid @ 10/23/2008 4:27:32 PM

Yes, because they aren't public campaign funds. Also, Hillary Clinton is no longer running. The real issue has nothing to do with ethics or legality though, it's all about the image that is being contradicted. Hard to sell an average mom going on a two month, $150,000 shopping spree. Look at it without partisan eyes, it looks bad to the struggling public.

  • Posted By: honey2010 @ 10/23/2008 4:39:25 PM

I really don't understand why the media continues to try to find things wrong with Sarah Palin. Enough already. It's amazing that they can pick on things like clothing when the media should be more willing to point out more important things about the Obama campaign and how they won't turn over documents listing where the financial contributions are coming from. What is Obama trying to hide? This election has gone completely to the left. The media overlooks almost everything on the democratic side but nitpicks anything they possibly can.............even the clothing expenditures of Sarah Palin. I would really like to see fair reporting from CNN and MSNBC just once.

    • Posted By: WalkinWithJesus @ 10/23/2008 5:22:56 PM

Exactly. Liberals don't want to think about all of the unanswered questions about Obama, they'd rather rant and rave over Palin's clothing selection for a presidential campaign than deal with reality. By the way, Obama is just your every day guy who spent well over a million dollars on his home in Chicago. Ever wonder how much his suits cost? No, didn't think so. Before you go pointing your finger, you really should take a hard look at your own candidate.

      • Posted By: theoldone @ 10/23/2008 5:43:41 PM

Hey Walkinwith jesus get your head out. Sarah is the one who talked about how close she was to Soccer Moms. It probably wouldn't have even been a story if she had bought her own clothes instead of the Republican Party. The DNC didn't buy Obama's house or clothes and come to think of it he only has one house. Maybe he's not the one who is part of the Elite.

        • Posted By: stormerF @ 10/23/2008 11:23:25 PM

The Dnc did buy Barack A $4000.00 suit for the convention. The RNC owns the clothes, they bought and will sell them, auction them or donate them in a few weeks.Sarah Palin doesn't own them.

          • Posted By: nimodahooligan @ 10/24/2008 9:57:47 AM

then wont baracks suit be auctioned as well? what point are you making

    • Posted By: Texanna33 @ 10/24/2008 12:17:41 AM

You are sooo right! The media should not continue trying to find fault with Sarah Palin...they can just sit back and and let her make a fool of herself just like she has since the first time she opened her mouth.

so what you liberal idiots? How much money is Obama splurging - he is running his own TV channel now.!! How badly you guys tried to make his ugly wife look passable -- I could even find "cropped" pictures of Michelle. I know the more you liberals hate Palin, the more votes she will get!!

    • Posted By: mcf304 @ 10/23/2008 11:23:18 PM

Michelle Obama is gorgeous! What are you talking about?

      And...
The difference is that Obama is spending money to get his message out and refute the ridiculous lies that McCain and Palin are throwing around, not to make himself look "hot" so his words don't even matter. Also, Palin is now the number one problem in John McCain's campaign, higher than his association with George Bush according to polls.

  • Posted By: emmarcee @ 10/23/2008 9:37:41 PM

The only reason I hate Obama is Newsweek, truely!!

    • Posted By: nimodahooligan @ 10/24/2008 9:28:04 AM

And don't forget that Obama took quite a bit more than that from Middle Easterners like Antoin Rezko (Syria), Nadhmi Auchi (Iraq), Muhammad Hasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid (both Pakistan). Frankly, I'm a little worried that Obama isn't a true US citizen, but one by an accident of birth.

Gee, imagine that, balance a budget with more income and less bs spending, like this assinine war at 10 bill a month...what a concept. Course we could give everyone 600 bucks, keep fighting a war that costs a fortune for nothing and pretend the deficit doesnt exsist.

The left's interest in Governor Palin's wardrobe, shoes, etc is so petty. If she got her wardrobe at Wal-marts, I wonder what would have been said about that from the liberal media. It appears she can't please you elites. And isn't it interesting after I saw all the articles about this I did a little research and couldn't find one article about how much Michelle spends on her duds. But I did see the Obamas on the cover of U. S Weekly and the comment, "Michelle glowed in a silk radzimir dress. from Thakoon.". No one mentions her hair and makeover expenses.. At least Cindy McCain didn't need one. She has natural style and grace. In fact she reminds me of another beautiful lady, the late Princess Diana. In fact they even have some of the same humanitarian projects in common.

Further are you interested in the price tag for Obama's spending spree for his election night gala. Was it hmmm, a measly $2 million and not to mention the cost of the DNC extravganza in Denver.

Is anyone else ready to puke up the negativism generated from the Obama camp and his mainstreet media day in and day out? There certainly is a lot of wind coming from the left,, but it's anything but a "rightous.wind".
