Mind-boggling. Obama has NEVER been in charge of anything? Nothing? Community activist doesn't count? How do you keep saying she doesn't have experience, when the person you elected has none? I just can't grasp how you keeping trying to spin this? Nobody is buying it. The stupidity is frightening. All I can say is that you should get used to the name United States of Detroit. That's where you will be sending this country, or pick any inner city for that matter. Take a peak at Michigan. A completely ruined state because of the giant sucking black hole of Detroit. Sucks in everything and everybody around it. Enjoy.. Barack Hussein Obama, The President of the United States of Detroit. you peeps are such fools.

O my the racist are starting to come out of the wood work. Obama, is a half black, half white man who gradiuated Magna Cumlaude from Harverd Law School. A man who could have been earning a six figure salary in any major law firm. A man who spent time helping the disenfrachised Americans organize. This is a very difficult job. It takes much skill to convince people that there is hope when the world is falling all around them. I have worked in this field in my spare time.

A man who was brilliant enough to gather a team around him that wrestle the Democratic nomination from a seasoned politician, A man who is in the process of beating Mr. McCain against all odds. A man who carry on several debates and maintain a poker face ( keeping cool under pressure). He has had policitical experience in one of the largest state in this country, Illinois. An infact now represents that state in the US Senate. A man that knew very early in the campaign that to win the presidence, he would need lots, lots, of money and made the choice to opt out of just getting Federal Campaign funds. He would be lossing at this moment were it not for this decision. In this country to win a national election, you need lots, lots of money. Much of this money he has gotten from the middle class. I know because I have donated to his campaign. I am not rich by any means. I am a struggling Federal Retiree, with a civil service pension. I donated because we need a change. We need some young blood. It is time to get representation from people who know what it is to live in the middle class ( Clinton, Obama, etc.) and replace the wealthy blue blood that have been bleeding the majority of Americans. It is time to pass the baton to the youth of America.

If you think his middle name is important, I don't want to call you a fellow citizen of this country

Hey LLiving10 Barack's not from Detroit, Michigan. He is from Chicago, that's in Illinois, the Land of Lincoln. If anyone needs feedback on running this country, we won't be looking for your input. BTW Senator Obama is currently running a half-billion dollar successful campaign for President. Way more organized than any campaign in history, according to FAUX News. Peace out 'peep'.

With all of the important issues that face Americans, this is what Newsweek decides to print... a story about Sarah Palin and family's clothing and shopping?! You have got to be kidding, right?! This is the perfect example of the media bias and insanity surrounding this presidential race. If you're going to print something this absurd, at least include ALL candidates' clothing and shopping habits. Or just write about something that actually matters, such as how to help the everyday American get through the coming tough times.

    • Posted By: Texanna33 @ 10/24/2008 12:03:36 AM

It is the pattern of abuse with palin that is concerning. She thought nothing of flying her whole family all over creation on Alaska's dime.
She thought nothing of collecting per diem for NOT going to work. She doesn't seem to think twice about a free $150,000 wardrobe that somebody's got to pay for. Seems if she wants it anything goes.

    • Posted By: voterundecided @ 10/23/2008 5:59:53 PM

The issue is not the shopping habits of the candidates but who is paying for the shopping spree! The RNC funded this 150K extravagance (which by the way would pay off my mortgage and probably the mortgages of alot of people), while according to reports, all the other candidate pay for their own clothing, not to mention the clothing for their families. This display of superficial, "as long as I get mine" behavior is indicative of someone who is out of touch with the everday regular Joes, not a card carrying member of the regular Joes of America.

Funiest thang. I enterd a pro Palin comment on this here wesbite a good piece ago but it ain't shewed up yet. I guess I's too dum to be a demicrat

    • Posted By: Texanna33 @ 10/23/2008 11:59:44 PM

Actually, you do sound pretty stupid.

  • Posted By: HoosierMom @ 10/23/2008 5:59:37 PM

Somehow Michelle Obama paying $4000 for her Maria Pinto dress out of her own pocket is supposed to convince me she's "one of us" and understands the middle class? While the candidate that doesn't have that kind of pocket change of her own to sport Michelle's stylish duds is the fraud? Please!

    • Posted By: Texanna33 @ 10/23/2008 11:53:26 PM

How about the $140 dress she wore on the view that she paid for out of her own pocket? If Cindy McCain's outfit at the opening of the convention cost upward of $280,000, I think Michelle can get away with a $4,000 dress.

  • Posted By: rexbassler @ 10/23/2008 6:19:46 PM

It's all part of the process, all of those people have to look good and have to pay the high dollar costs of things on the coast. Sarah regularly shops at Walmart, but now that she is on the national scene she should spruce it up a bit. Besides, they will get donated to charity, we are a charity that gives clothes away to the poor, it will be great no matter who she chooses to give the clothes too, lots of worthy charities out there. Also, the designers usually GIVE their clothes to candidates, just ask Hillary. We don't mind paying for this, that is what campaign funding is for, do we really think the money is all for ads or bus fares? Grow up people. When it is a republican you people come unglued (remember Nancy Reagan?) but when it is democrats, you don't even notice (think Hillary's $6,000 pantsuit).

I just purchased business clothes for two of my daughters to being interviewing. I purchased 3 outfits for each, classic styles and sufficient quality that will last for a good 6 if not up to 10 years (as long as they stay the same size) and this included 1 pair of shoes. I did not pay over $1000 for each daughter's clothes. I agree anyone in the spotlight needs to dress appropriately but they could have found exceptional clothes at considerably less cost. And hey excuse me but who purchases a onezie for a baby that is $98 and that is before sales tax, I mean come on what a waste of money for a piece of clothing that will last the baby for 2-3 months tops. The reason people are talking about this is the excessive cost for what a few outfits. That money could have paid off someone's house. $10,000 to $20,000 would have been so much more appropriate.

      • Posted By: Texanna33 @ 10/23/2008 11:47:26 PM

It happens to be well known and verified on national news that Hillary pays for her own clothse. Hillary does have a hairdresser that travels with her that is paid out of Hillary's pocket as well.
I recently bought 2 new business suits that look every bit aqs good as Palin's suits and cost about $250 a piece. Do you really think that you could tell the difference between Sarah Palin's $2500 jacket and one made just like it that cost $250? Not without her taking it off and you inspecting evry inch of it on the inside.
I think that she must have had Cindy Mccain dressing her. $150,000 spent in one week for clothse would just be a drop in the bucket for Cindy. I think this conspicuous consumption is disgusting especially since they have decided to make "Joe the plumber" the party's mascot.
Joe would probably love to buy a house worth $150,000 much less a weeks worth of clothse.
They say all the clothse will be donated to charity.....yeah right. That only came up after they were being battered by the vulgarity of the shopping spree.

Caribou Barbie says, "I hate math. Let's go shopping!"

    • Posted By: stormerF @ 10/23/2008 11:32:22 PM

you are a dumb a--,she has as much right to shop as Michelle Obama does.To bad Michelle doesn't have the good taste Sarah has.The clothes belong to the RNC and will be given to charity,in a few weeks.

I have worked professionally for 35 years (since the age of 20) as a special educator, administrator, and consultant. I can honestly say that I have not paid $150,000 on my entire life's wardrobe, let alone for 7 weeks. I am successful and work constantly with the public. I guess I am not one of the "productive" members of society that I hear John McCain talking about. For that, I'd need to make triple my salary (even though I work 50-60 hours a week). Combine this clothing idiocy (have you ever heard of Marshalls and TJ Maxx like the rest of US working women?), along with the thought that the local socialite lounging at the club is somehow more "productive" than the club's cleaning woman who works there (and who has a second job to afford her small rental) makes smoke come out of my ears. I wonder how much money "Joe the Plumber" spent on his work clothes last year? And now, if she donates the clothes she can take a charitable deduction. This is a tax policy that the Republicans can believe in!

  • Posted By: LVKeith @ 10/23/2008 5:09:09 PM

What's the difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom? Apparently a $150,000 wardrobe.

    • Posted By: stormerF @ 10/23/2008 11:18:12 PM

You can't be that stupid the RNC bought the clothes and will sell, auction,or donate them if a few weeks Sarah Palin doesn't own them Stop listening to the Media and check it out for yourself..nter Your Comment

  • Posted By: stormerF @ 10/23/2008 11:09:39 PM

Report the truth the clothes do not belong to Sarah Palin, but to the RNC. and will be sold, auctioned or donated after a few times of wear.Quit attacking this woman if you really want to look at someone it seems that Obama has more to hide. Where are his medical Records?why did he lie about his relationship with william Aryes? How come he still will not state the truth about what Joe Biden said about his inexperience and him being tested by trail by fire into a few months if he is elected?

  • Posted By: stormerF @ 10/23/2008 11:02:57 PM

You call youself journalist you need to check the facts the clothes thr RNC buys does not belong to Sarah Palin and will be sold or auctioned off after a few weeks of use.Why haven't you reported on the amount of money spent on food for the Obama Campaign?

  • Posted By: 1easylay @ 10/23/2008 11:01:19 PM

It's nothing compared to Cindy McCain's $330,000.00 dress she wore to the RNC..........................

Hey I have an idea ... let's just give the presidency to Barrak Obama today, right now, immediately , if you all WILL JUST SHUT UP AND GO AWAY ..... he can have anything he wants. I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sick of it, sick of him and sick, sick, sick to death of the nasty, immoral, disgraceful, tasteless, crude, vulgur, lower than pond scum, dredges of the earth, spine needling, cross dressing, hair raising, mostly gay and completely ignorant media. Ya know I was going to give him a chance, but you keep poundin away on the women so you can just forget it.

    • Posted By: mrzoid @ 10/23/2008 4:30:02 PM

So many adjectives, so little substance. A truly impressive waist of descriptive language.

    • Posted By: nimodahooligan @ 10/23/2008 4:31:52 PM

call me crazy but i dont think we are pounding on her for being a woman....we are pounding on her for spending lavishly with government money (and therefore american tax money) in a time when half of america is having a hard time putting food on the table (and there campaign is focused on the economy...hahah right...)...and if your going to make your voting decisions that way because you "feel sorry for her" or "think shes being abused by the media and the like" than you should not be able to vote....

she voluntarily puts herself in a position of scrutiny, thats the name of the game when your running for the oval office... so you should stop crying and deal with it for the next 2 weeks and you wont have to worry about it anymore will you? and make a sound decision based on the issues at hand, not whether your favorite VP is being pounded by us, thats how it goes in this world...just look at how bad bush got pounded, very few ran to his defence...and why not?

      • Posted By: vakosh @ 10/23/2008 10:51:57 PM

well I can vote, and Newseek just gave my vote to John McCain and Sarah Palin

  • Posted By: emmarcee @ 10/23/2008 9:37:10 PM

And where was this investigative work when it came to EDward's other wife? Where is the real reports on Obama's shadowy deal with Rezko, come on..

  • Posted By: emmarcee @ 10/23/2008 9:35:35 PM

Michelle nailed the 400,000 paying job as soon as Barack 's star rose as a Legally won Senator. If you so called journalists spent 5 minutes reading through their history you would have found the truth.

  • Posted By: Cazador1972 @ 10/23/2008 9:35:06 PM

I resent her being called "Caribou Barbie" -- her name is "Mooseolini"

$150,000 in new clothes in TWO months. Nevermind that that is the income for five years in most pro-McCain households, who sent their hard earned money in donations so Sarah Palin could dress like Paris Hilton. You know, Maverick stuff.

  • Posted By: Nowforthetruth @ 10/23/2008 9:28:57 PM

Obama's tax and spending plans alone would be bad enough, but add Reid and Pelosi to the mix, with the three of them controlling both houses of Congress and the executive branch without any effective restraint, and you have something that should causes concern even among moderate Democrats.
See Wall Street Journal: A Liberal Supermajority:

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122420205889842989.html

Dont believe me? See Barney Franks comments on the news, including face the nation last week, stating that Democrats in Congress intend to raise taxes and go on a spending spree.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1Mazjm_A5k

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJGnSAlqjoU

You will also hear him try to shift the blame away from himself, but what was he saying in 2003 when problems in Freddie and Fannie first started to surface:
I want to begin by saying that I am glad to consider the legislation, but I do not think we are facing any kind of a crisis. That is, in my view, the two government sponsored enterprises we are talking about here, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, are not in a crisis. We have recently had an accounting problem with Freddie Mac that has led to people being dismissed, as appears to be appropriate. I do not think at this point there is a problem with a threat to the Treasury.
I must say we have an interesting example of self-fulfilling prophecy. Some of the critics of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac say that the problem is that the Federal Government is obligated to bail out people who might lose money in connection with them. I do not believe that we have any such obligation. And as I said, it is a self-fulfilling prophecy by some people.
So let me make it clear, I am a strong supporter of the role that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac play in housing, but nobody who invests in them should come looking to me for a nickel--nor anybody else in the Federal Government. And if investors take some comfort and want to lend them a little money and less interest rates, because they like this set of affiliations, good, because housing will benefit. But there is no guarantee, there is no explicit guarantee, there is no implicit guarantee, there is no wink-and-nod guarantee. Invest, and you are on your own.

  • Posted By: Nowforthetruth @ 10/23/2008 9:28:47 PM

"Now, we have got a system that I think has worked very well to help housing. The high cost of housing is one of the great social bombs of this country. I would rank it second to the inadequacy of our health delivery system as a problem that afflicts many, many Americans. We have gotten recent reports about the difficulty here.
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have played a very useful role in helping make housing more affordable, both in general through leveraging the mortgage market, and in particular, they have a mission that this Congress has given them in return for some of the arrangements which are of some benefit to them to focus on affordable housing, and that is what I am concerned about here. I believe that we, as the Federal Government, have probably done too little rather than too much to push them to meet the goals of affordable housing and to set reasonable goals. I worry frankly that there is a tension here.
The more people, in my judgment, exaggerate a threat of safety and soundness, the more people conjure up the possibility of serious financial losses to the Treasury, which I do not see. I think we see entities that are fundamentally sound financially and withstand some of the disastrous scenarios. And even if there were a problem, the Federal Government doesn't bail them out. But the more pressure there is there, then the less I think we see in terms of affordable housing."

    See http://www.taxfoundation.org/blog/show/23617.html

  • Posted By: Nowforthetruth @ 10/23/2008 9:28:03 PM

And again what was Frank saying at roughly the time McCains attempt at S.190. to fix Fannie and Freddie.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MGT_cSi7Rs

"These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis, the more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing."

So who really is the liar that soaked the American people?

    Comment: THE GREAT BUSH DEPRESSION
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
He perfectly predicted the current meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen next
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide ,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch , Fanny and Freddy Mae ,AIG
The government took them over because they are bankrupt. Even with the goverment nationalizing hundreds of billions of dollars in debt the stock market is crashing
the credit markets are frozen and all of us may suffer beyond anything seen in generations
McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand how its been broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use quantum mathematical models very few people understand.
Bush and McCain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.
Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.
Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy. He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He was the last to know somthing was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime. Check out this link to the truth http://my.barackobama.com/keatingvideo
It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a budget surplus like Bush did but a crashing economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit. Most of it Bush created and it will take decades to pay it back.
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why are the polls even close then ?
Mccains team just said they no longer want to talk about the economy.Instead they would like to spend time talking about obama
which means running the biggest smear campaign in history.
They think they can just tell you lies and you wont be smart enough to see through it
Let's teach him we are smarter than that
Stand up and hold them accountable
Bush isn't on the ballot this year but his policies are
    Elect Obama Biden 2008

Check out this video of sarah palins interview and ask your self if she understands what she is talking about.
