Obama in this video, addressing his work with ACORN litigation relating to the community reinvestment act and the failure of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, as they relate to the current real estate and financial crisis, states that, and I quote:

"Subprime lending started out as a good idea, helping Americans buy homes who previously could not afford to. Financial institutions created new financial instruments that could securitize these loans, slice them into finer and finer risk categories, and spread them out among investors and around the country, as well as around the world. In theory, this should have allowed mortgage lending to be less risky, and more diversified."

    He further states:

???"The original idea was a good one, which was, lets see if we can distribute risk more broadly, and make it easier to provide loans to people who otherwise might not be able to get one."

Listen for yourself. You cannot dispute the mans on words recorded live:

Obama in this second video is campaigning at a convention of Acorn and I believe two other "Community Activist" organizations. Ask if he will be their ally if he becomes President, Obama says, quote:

???Yes, but let me say that before I even get inaugurated, during the transition we are going to be calling all of you in to help us shape the agenda. We???re going to be having meetings all across the country with community organizations so that you have input into the agenda for the next presidency of the United States of America.

See and hear it for yourself. Obama promised that Acorn and other groups like it will setting his agenda if elected:

(oops!) stating that Freddie Mac was spending tax payer money to target Republicans in 2005 who were trying to regulate Fannie and Freddies fraud. Democrats were not targeted, as the were all in the tank with Fannie and Freddie to kill the regulations. Hear that, the article admits that Republicans were trying to regulate Freddie and Fannie, and Democrats were trying to stop it from happening as a means to facilitate the Community Reinvestment Act.

      Comment: THE GREAT BUSH DEPRESSION
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
He perfectly predicted the current meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen next
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide ,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch , Fanny and Freddy Mae ,AIG
The government took them over because they are bankrupt. Even with the goverment nationalizing hundreds of billions of dollars in debt the stock market is crashing
the credit markets are frozen and all of us may suffer beyond anything seen in generations
McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand how its been broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use quantum mathematical models very few people understand.
Bush and McCain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.
Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.
Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy. He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He was the last to know somthing was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime. Check out this link to the truth http://my.barackobama.com/keatingvideo
It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a budget surplus like Bush did but a crashing economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit. Most of it Bush created and it will take decades to pay it back.
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why are the polls even close then ?
Mccains team just said they no longer want to talk about the economy.Instead they would like to spend time talking about obama
which means running the biggest smear campaign in history.
They think they can just tell you lies and you wont be smart enough to see through it
Let's teach him we are smarter than that
Stand up and hold them accountable
Bush isn't on the ballot this year but his policies are
      Elect Obama Biden 2008

Check out this video of sarah palins interview and ask your self if she understands what she is talking about.

Goes well with Cindy McCain's 300,000 single ensemble she wore at the convention. How do people believe that this ticket has the interest of the average American at heart?

  • Posted By: TheVigil @ 10/23/2008 6:41:12 PM

The Republicans are not understanding that the whole "ostentatious displays of wealth" thing is not being received well this year.

Q: Why does Sarah PaIin wear makeup and perfume?

A: Because she's ugly and she stinks.

  • Posted By: voterundecided @ 10/23/2008 6:05:57 PM

If Michell Obama wants to spend that kind of money (HER OWN MONEY) on clothing - I guess that is her perogative. If Sarah Palin were spending her own money, it would be a non-issue!

The regular everyday Josephina isn't running for vice president...give the woman a break, she is in the spotlight 24/7, Whatever was hanging in he closet wouldn't have been good enough for the media vultures that have already picked her bones clean!

  • Posted By: thewriter @ 10/23/2008 5:55:37 PM

Third attempt -- perhaps no sense of humor at Newsweek? $150,000 for a wardrobe paid for by the GOP for the potential next VP of the once most powerful nation in the world? ha! a mere pittance! I did not hear those cries of outrage from the "left wing biased liberal media" when Willy Clinton spent MILLIONS of TAX PAYOR dollars on the dry cleaning attempt for a single blue dress belonging to Monica Lewinsky???

  • Posted By: Nowforthetruth @ 10/23/2008 5:55:24 PM

Three surveys -- from the Associated Press-GfK, George Washington University and an Investors Business Daily/TIPP poll - - show McCain closing the gap with Obama.

The AP poll puts Obama at 44 percent to McCain's 43 percent, compared with a 7 percentage point advantage for Obama in their September survey. The GW Battleground poll showed Obama's edge at 2 points, down from 7 points in the middle of October, while the IDB/TIPP tracking survey has the margin for the Democrat narrowing to 1 point from 5 points at the start of the week.

They may have spent $150000 on clothing but in reality look at the clothes these people where. How much do you think Obama spends on himself and his wife. Both Parties spend a lot of money. Private jets and 5 star hotels. Thats not necessary. Obama said everybody needs to tighten the belt but I bet he is not sleeping in a Super 8 Motel. So come on there are a lot more important things than money spent on clothing.

    • Posted By: voterundecided @ 10/23/2008 5:51:42 PM

The difference is in who pays for the clothing. Reports indicate that all other candidates pay for their own clothing - not to mention the clothing for their families. But Pailn, in her superficial nature, not only has charged these purchases to the RNC but has gone with very high end items. Let's get real here - don't call yourself an everyday Joe and then go spend that kind of money on something so superficial. I am certain that the woman had clothes in her closet but saw this as an opportunity! Gee whiz, her shopping spree would pay off my mortgage. I don't buy the "'I'm a regular Joe" routine! The regular Joes are concerned about things other than where we're going to find our next 150K to bump up our wardrobes!

  • Posted By: JGalt @ 10/23/2008 5:49:16 PM

"Liberals don't want to think about all of the unanswered questions about Obama" Umm.. Palin's been the one avoiding questions (because she has no answer). RNC drag someone through the mud? Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black. $2M is a bit, but nowadays that's thrown around quite a bit. How much was Bush's little stint on the aircraft carrier when he declared that he had "won" the war? That was a nice made-for-TV production he put on.

  • Posted By: Newsweek=Garbage @ 10/23/2008 5:41:52 PM

Newsweek has proven once again that it is completely biased in its reporting. No mention at all about Obama spending $2MM on his acceptance speech party. People want to criticize Foxnews, but the Dems have Newsweek, NYtimes, MSNBC and countless other news agencies that are far worse. This isn't reporting, its tabloid fodder.

  • Posted By: Newsweek=Garbage @ 10/23/2008 5:38:53 PM

Newsweek has once again showed that it is completely in the pocket of Obama. Where is the story about Obama spending $2MM on his acceptance speech party?

  • Posted By: point of view @ 10/23/2008 5:34:26 PM

I am far more concerned about the two million dollars Senator Obama is spending right now in Chicago's Grant Park for a victory party than I am about $150.000 on clothing that will be donated to charity.
Given Senator Obama's concern over the""greatest financial crisis faced by this country since the Great Depression", I do appreciate the fact he is "scaling down".

  • Posted By: LLiving10 @ 10/23/2008 1:14:36 PM

I love all of you irrational dem posters. What is funny is that successful people laugh at you, all day long. You, who couldn't make it in the freest country with the most opportunity on earth. No matter if obama is pres, you will still fail in life. It will change nothing. You do realize that? You will just go on being the leach your are. Looking for a handout. Looking to blame someone for your misery. Face up, you're just broken, and only you can change that. Nice group of people you associate with.

It's nice to see that you get out of the trailer park once and awhile ! Why don't you swing by Walmart and buy a box of Fruit Loops and make a day of it !!!

  • Posted By: LVKeith @ 10/23/2008 5:10:07 PM

What's the difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom? Apparently a $150,000 wardrobe.

  • Posted By: Nowforthetruth @ 10/23/2008 3:44:59 PM

Now, with the Nov. 4 general election still 12 days away, the front-running Illinois senator is planning an Election Night celebration that could put his Invesco Field party to shame.

A huge stage is being constructed in Chicago's Grant Park, where Obama hopes to declare victory before a cheering throng that could dwarf the one at the Democratic convention. Back then, "only" 80,000 fans were in attendance that night. This time, it could be hundreds of thousands in the park and its surroundings -- closer to Berlin in July than Denver in August.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports the price tag of the fanfare has been pegged at $2 million, to be picked up by the Obama campaign. Mayor Richard Daley reportedly suggested Obama use a cheaper venue, but was turned down.

      • Posted By: overdehill @ 10/23/2008 4:38:12 PM

Point being that it's eerily reminiscent of Adolph Hitler's Nuremberg extravaganza in the thirties, augustman, but of course you're too young to remember that.

you know Ghandi commanded the attention of an entire nation without being disrespectful or meaning any harm...brought swarms of people to hear him speak. and he was one of the greatest most progressive and humble thinkers to ever walk the earth...

obama has a lot of support...why? because to put it mildly the repubs have sucked for over 8 years...so yea, much of the nation is going to support a positive thinking and speaking democrat...

but to relate anyone running for president to a man that commited MASS genocide across an entire continent is little stretched dont you think>?

You're right I can't debate someone full of hate like you. Re: multi-million dollar elitist pillhead. Did you hear someone say God bless you sometime "buddy". Do you think your candidate has kicked his drug habit buddy? Do you think he got his $800,000 worth from Acorn buddy? Do you wonder why he seems to be hiding his anti-American wife buddy? You really are good for a laugh.

With all do respect, whatever amount that may be: You, and the people who are responding to you with the same rancor, are the reason politics is flawed. You have the right to your opinion, but i wish you people would leave debate to rational, and mature, adults. You sound like schoolchildren calling each other names.

      • Posted By: augustman1955 @ 10/23/2008 3:38:51 PM

Not good at dabating are you? What the heck do you think dabating is? It's no different than when we were kids. Have you heard the one about the terrorist and the maverick?

        • Posted By: overdehill @ 10/23/2008 5:04:22 PM

There's a difference between, "Debating" and a, "Donnybrook." And for your information, I was part of a medal-winning debate team back in the day.

        • Posted By: mrzoid @ 10/23/2008 3:48:08 PM

dabating? I'll assume you meant to type debating. Not to beleaguer the point i was making above, but thank you for the affirmation. No, debate is an act between rational parties making sound and factual point/counterpoint statements; what you are refering to is arguement. Any fool with the capacity for speech can argue, it takes two informed parties to debate.

      • Posted By: overdehill @ 10/23/2008 5:02:04 PM

Right on, mrzoid! Seems we've become incapable of having civil discourse in this country. Even our preseditial, "debates." are litte more than showcases for canditates to spout prepared responses to prearranged questions.

    • Posted By: augustman1955 @ 10/23/2008 2:56:24 PM

You're really not laughing, you're as scared as the devil himself, because just like he, you know you're going to lose too. And by the way, all of what you say about Obama and his dear wife are yesterdays news.
Some folks "kick" drug addiction, some don't. I have yet to hear michelle Obama make any negative remarks against anyone named McCain, she's got way too much class for that. As far as her statement of being proud of America, she's was echoing the voices of many Americans, all of the "qualified" black heroes that should've been picked by either party, and it took this long. That was the context of her statement, BUDDY. Get a gripe dude, Obamas are going to be moving into the White House after the Bushs move out. They'll need to fumagate the joint after all the crapping he's done.LOL! Now THAT was hateful...

$150,000 buys a lot of things. Unfortuately for her, intelligence is not one of them.

  • Posted By: PVGUY @ 10/23/2008 4:56:23 PM

Who is going to vet Obama? MSNBC, CNN, NPR, NBC, ABC, CBS, The New York Times, The L.A. Times etc. etc. All in the tank for Senator Obama. They had time to torment the Palins. Well kiddies, I've had all the fun I can baiting hysterical liberals. You guys are way to easy. No wonder you've been mesmerized by Obama. Have to go make some more money for Barack to give away. Bye

You must be kidding ILUVPALIN! "Butey" contest? Went to the same colleges she did huh?
I don't know if you realize this, but BEAUTY (correct spelling) contestants when she competed, weren't judged by their brain power. If so, she'd of lost twice!

      • Posted By: overdehill @ 10/23/2008 4:57:25 PM

I suspect the post by, "ILUVPALIN" is a thinly disguised plant., probably by the same guy who replied to it 10 minutes later. And by the way, it should have been, ".. she would HAVE lost twice," not, "...she would OF.
