Two comments deserve rebuttall. Augustman1955-Most of the members of congress especially in leadership positions are professional polititians. They are far removed from small town USA and are elitists who don't care for much more than lining there pockets and getting themselves reelected. Nimodahooligan-How about if Obama took some of that 150 mil his campaign raised in Sept. and gave half of it to charity. He still would have enough left to outspend McCain and according to you libs. he already has the election in the bag. Just think how that 75 mil would help the poor and needy much more than the 150 thousand spent on Sarah Palin's clothes. Your hatefullness is really disgusting.

hatefullness??? show me where i was hatefull? and i agree with you on the 150 mil with obama...do you think all liberals are commies and socialist ***? your assumption that i was being hateful is kind of offensive and pretty ignorant of the fact that from what i read there wasnt anything "hateful" about my words... assumptions make an ass out of you

      PVGUY,
First of all I don't hate. If you're rebutting, didn't you notice my "God bless you" at the end of my comment?
Second, the money DONATED to Mr. Obamas campaign is for exactly that, not shopping sprees or given to the poor. Here he showed his charater in leadership integrity and fairness, which is certainly good judgement. Lastly, How far "removed" then John McCain must be from small town USA? He is so far removed after 26 years in Congress married to a multi-million dollar eletist pill head and owns not 1, but SEVEN houses! I don't think you want to get into the "debate your candidate" with me buddy....

Are you for real? Do you listen to the words that come out of her mouth? She says NOTHING, comprehends NOTHING and thinks she is smarter than all of us. She keeps making the same mistake...shame on her and shame on you!

People like you, jadetigerz, frighten me more than anyone with thoughts like those.

  • Posted By: emhuelsman @ 10/23/2008 2:32:03 PM

My question is--she is the governor of Alaska and makes six figures. How bad was her
wardrobe before this shopping spree? Surely she had stylist suits, dresses and jackets for
her current position? This is an insane amount of money for clothes, spent by the RNC, that NO ONE is going to remember. I make a 1/3 of that total spent and have a closet full of stylist and nice looking clothes.
    What a waste of money.

You know, what I find curious is you "conservatives" profess to know the tricks and gimmicks that we "liberals" employ. You accuse the media of unfairness, you call our candidate a cheap hollywood star, you even call him a terrorist. You know what our "donkey" sounds like, you know what your elephant smells like, but for the life of me, you don't seem to know the difference between lipstick on a pitbull and Saks 5th Ave clothes on Sarah Palin. Here's a not so subtle hint, " out of her league.....

    • Posted By: mrzoid @ 10/23/2008 2:30:25 PM

Her families net worth is well over $1,000,000. Bottom line, she's not an average working class person. She's rich, not McCain or Obama rich, but rich nonetheless. So lets stop pretending she's out of her league with these expensive tastes, she is well within her league. Average Joe? Shes just an average well to do politician.

  • Posted By: mrzoid @ 10/23/2008 2:25:05 PM

This would not be a problem if she wasn't portraying herself as an ideolouge of populism. Im ok with it, but you've got to admit, it looks bad.

Obama does not have a clue what to do. He has only two years of experience. He plans to raise taxes below and above the $250,000 area. He will ruined the the USA the next four years concerning the small business.

  • Posted By: LLiving10 @ 10/23/2008 1:19:16 PM

..Bob Proctor.. the guy is a proven communist moron. The world is 1000 time different then 1929. Not even the same ballpark. If anything, obama will get you to a depression much faster, even though it still won't happen. Take your garbage elsewhere since some of us wasting time on newsweek aren't idiots.

    • Posted By: holdenbeach_44 @ 10/23/2008 2:21:24 PM

Obama only has 2 years of experience. He does not have a clue what's going on and he will ruined the USA the next four years. He plans to raise taxes below and above the $250,000 and kill all the small business . Raising taxes when everything is down ,will be a big blow the next four years.

I like how she looks. Money well spent. What, do you want her in overalls with the rest of you leach / govt dependent dems? Never forget, she has SIGNIFICANT more experience then obama. Indisputable. I look forward to looking at her for 4 years versus biden's hair plugs. yes, he has them.

    • Posted By: WhiteforObamaBiden @ 10/23/2008 2:17:31 PM

She has so much experience that she doesn't know what a VP does and has no idea which newspaper she reads but she sure knows how to shop!!! What experience? MC Cain/Palin campaign piggy backs off of Obama's. For a ticket with so much experience why couldn't they come up with an economic plan before Obama, but instead they produced one two days after Obama. McCain/Palin has experience in attacking Obama because he doesn't buy into McCain's idiotic comments. As far as I know Obama is as much black as he is white, race is not the issue, the economy is...I don't care what color he is but I do care how smart the presidential candidate and vp is...and Pailin is just outright STUPID...

    • Posted By: nimodahooligan @ 10/23/2008 2:01:41 PM

money that otherwise would have been spent in smarter ways mind you...is it good in a time of global economic crisis to be seeing how much a future presidential mate spends on just her clothing when the people she is supposed to be supporting and helping and governing cant afford house payments?? thats why its a news story, if you missed the point...150,000 dollars...i can name at least 150,000 different things that money could have been spent on besides an ugly overpriced blazer made from designers that outsource they're sewing to 3rd world countries and in tunr sell those clothes for THOUSANDS of dollars. have you ever imagined yourself goin on a shopping spree like that when people are dying of hunger and living in poverty in the country shes supposed to be representing? are you not paying attention at all??? minus her inability to be VP, or the "fact" that she has more "experience" than obama...this is a bad time for something like this to be let out of the closet so close to election time...she is detrimental to society and to McCains campaign, which is all washed up anyway...

    • Posted By: lingram @ 10/23/2008 12:52:56 PM

I don't care how you dress her, she is not VP material. She still hasn't even figured out what a VP does.
Where is all this experience? Herding Moose in alaska? Read the Alaskan newspapers and see how well she is liked by her herd now. You can dress a sow in silk but a sow is still a sow.

  • Posted By: gary&hannahsmom @ 10/23/2008 2:08:19 PM

Whern has Sarah Palin been bright? When has she stood up to hateful garbage, all I have heard is her spewing the hateful garbage. I was on the fence between McCain and Obama. When she was chosen as the VP pick, I leaned toward Obama. Now that I have repeatedly heard her speak, I am firmly for Obama. I am a registered republican, who is ashamed to say, voted for Bush twice. Won't make that mistake again.
As far as what Obama is spending the money on, there is a big difference, his supportes have donated their money to him. I unfortunately am unable to do so because I am a middle class working mother of a preschooler and toddler with a mortgage and a car payment. My taxes are going to pay for her wardrobe while I have to figure out how to pay for my sons clothes and tuition for preschool. I don't live outside my means and am in know way wealthy. My husband owns a small business that is struggling in this economic mess that has been created. Obama will not do worse than Bush has done and it really seems as though his concern is with the middle class, I don't see that with McCain.

They might dress her (Sarah Palin) in the world's best designer outfits, But she still does not have a clue of what is going on outside of Wissilla, Alaska...

Oh, so you agree McCain can't win, huh? I really pity you. Sarah is no less a Washington outsider than anyone else in The Congress or the White House. Not ONE person serving is from D.C. They all pretty much come from small town USA.

We Liberals don't fear Sarah Palin one bit! What I fear as a Liberal Democrat and African-American is this; We (Americans) have for the first time a black man running for president...Hmmmm. And the posture that most rednecks and "other" bubbas take is, I don't care how bad our guy is, we don't want no ------ as president!! Why, because you can't see the promise in his presidency? And you only see retribution for what you're guilty of? Don't fret my friend, we're not looking for revenge, just a solution to the problems in America.
Mr. Obama has the best plan.
    God bless you.

    THE GREAT BUSH DEPRESSION
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
He perfectly predicted the current meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen next
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide ,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch , Fanny and Freddy Mae ,AIG
The government took them over because they are bankrupt. Even with the goverment nationalizing hundreds of billions of dollars in debt the stock market is crashing
the credit markets are frozen and all of us may suffer beyond anything seen in generations
McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand how its been broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use quantum mathematical models very few people understand.
Bush and McCain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.
Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.
Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy. He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He was the last to know somthing was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime. It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a budget surplus like Bush did but a crashing economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit. Most of it Bush created and it will take decades to pay it back.
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why are the polls even close then ?

      See: http://www.newsweek.com/id/164972
Stating that Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act wasn't what caused the meltdown, and noting that "economists on both sides of the political spectrum have suggested that the act has probably made the crisis less severe than it might otherwise have been." And also:
      http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/who_caused_the_economic_crisis.html
Even Bill Clinton points to liberal Congressional Democrats??? protection of Fannie and Freddie from scrutiny as a primary cause of the current economic meltdown.

Vote Now, yeah we got it, you're obsessed with Bob Proctor. What you don't get is if it has to be posted half a dozen times to get anyones attention, it probably won't get anyone's attention. As for Sarah Palin, it does seem like a lot of money to spend on clothes, but I'm wondering what Obama is spending his 150 million on. He's not redistributing it to those who could use it. He could give a whole lot of people a mortgage payment with that.

  • Posted By: LLiving10 @ 10/23/2008 1:29:04 PM

By the way, the "Vote Now" poster is a paid person. They are all over. Mostly likely, they are sitting in an Acorn office in Detroit, salivating about the potential for a free handout. They are trying to squelch free speech by over posting the same non-sense. All it does is invigorate the people who care about the US, which is not the leaches.

Mccains team just said they no longer want to talk about the economy.Instead they would like to spend time talking about obama
which means running the biggest smear campaign in history.
They think they can just tell you lies and you wont be smart enough to see through it
Let's teach him we are smarter than that
Stand up and hold them accountable
Bush isn't on the ballot this year but his policies are
    Elect Obama Biden 2008
