Barack Obama???s tax plans similarly focus on the politics of envy. He is so focused and determined that the oil companies do not make one penny too much in profit that Barack Obama dces not care if all of the Southeast periodically experiences gas shortages with closed gas stations and empty gas pumps. The oil companies did not make any profits when there was no gas to sell so Barack Obama must have been jumping with joy. Refinery capacity in the United States has been stretched to its limits for decades. The oil companies would have to be crazy to invest another penny in new refineries or production capacity or even do basic repairs in the United States in light of Barck Obama???s policies to tax what he deems are excess profits and his proposed mandates on alternative energy. Barack Obama???s proposals to raise taxes only on the top five percent of Americans are ridiculous and only pander to the politics of envy. Our economy has been propped up for years by people from around the world investing in the United States. Foreign investors in United States companies also are subject to United States taxes. All of these investors are in the top five percent making more than two hundred and fifty thousand a year and they will be subject to higher taxes. Do you think that foreign investors will continue to make direct investments in the United States when they can go anywhere in the world? Barack Obama will do for the United States what North Korean President Kim has done for North Korea and that is drive all foreign investors out of the country. That is a great idea to help our economy and drive all foreign investors out. Americans can also chose where they invest and they do not have to invest in the United States if taxes become exorbitant.

Please Barack keep your politics of envy confined to local and state Illinois politics where it works.

Vote John McCain !!!!! Vote John McCain!!!!!!!!!

    Vote John McCain!!!!!

Ohio is proud of John Glenn and John McCain both fighter pilots who served their country when their country was at war.

The Barack Obama campaign is dumb as a doorknob to raise Keating 5 and criticize John Glenn. You just put Ohio in the Red state column for the Republicans. The people of Ohio are proud of John Glenn, a former Marine Corp fighter pilot during World War II. John Glenn was awarded the Congressman Medal of Honor and flew aboard the space shuttle at the age of 77.

The Barack Obama campaign should stop criticizing an 87 year old war hero John Glenn by raising the Keating 5 scandal that happened over twenty years ago. For two people who have no military service between them and have never worn the uniform, Barack Obama and Joe Biden have a lot of huzpah and gaul to obliquely criticize a fellow Democrat and elder statesman and an 87 year old war hero and first man in space John Glenn.

It is also pretty stupid to criticize an Ohio native son when Ohio is in play during this election. Does the Barack Obama campaign have to destroy the reputations of four Democratic Senators to lob an ineffectual attack against John McCain. Democratic Senator Alan Cranston is dead and can not even defend himself.

Vote for John McCain, he respects veterans especially 87 year old fellow fighter pilots like John Glenn.

Lawyers are wordsmiths by craft. Look at Barack Obama, he has written two books already at his early age. Ninety-nine percent of lawyers do not have the experience of pushing numbers around. Most lawyers are mathematically challenged. The solutions to our economic and budget crisis involve the understanding how our economy and banking system works. Economic and banking theory can not even be remotely understood without an ability to work with numbers with relative ease. John McCain like all pilots has proven mathematical ability and the quantitative experience to understand and find solutions to our economic problems. Instead of blindly relying on some advisor or group of advisors which has caused some of our economic problems, John McCain can step back on his own and make an independent judgment using his own computational skills whether a specific plan makes sense.

For you that think Obama has not proven he can handle the job of President of the United States here are just a few of the things he has accomplished other than running for Pres.. Lets see? There was? But then there is?? Oh but he lead in the fight against ah ah? But boy isn't he a great speaker? Vote Obama!!

    To MCGILL
America is already on her knees brought down by the Bush Administration and all of its cronies, with all their ill conceived and ill implemented policies. McCain would continue on the same path that Bush led us into. OBAMA is the best hope that we have to bring our great nation to where it belongs, standing proud and strong with head held high and having the respect of the world once more.

You're the one that has been drinking tankers full of Kool-aid, Republican Kool-aid that is, and believing all the lies and smears that have been spread by the McCain/Palin campaign and the Republican Party. You obviously haven't done any independent research to find out if what they're saying is true or not. If you had done so, you would know the real truth and wouldn't be writing such nonsense as what you have posted here.

Thank you for the opportunity for discussion on the matter and your attempt to bring credibility to a candidate that deserves none. FYI ....I consider myself an independent who has voted across party lines for those such as Perot. I was for McCain rather than the current president Bush who I feel has really screwed things up McCAIN IS NOT BUSH. Obama should have taken McCain up on the town hall meetings so we could learn about him.Obama needs to come out of the closet and let us know who he really is unscripted. Why all the cover up by the media? Why all of the foreign campaign contributions? Why all the voter fraud?Who is determining our president the media and foreigners?Sorry your candidate is so corrupt.

Yeah, you guys crack me up! Yall are all sitting down in a round room, arguing over whom is in the right corner. Ill wait

A vote for the lesser of two evils is still a vote FOR evil.

The media will present this presidential race, on average, as a tie so that we can accept the courts ruling on the outcome.

Sit tight until after the elections. Sure, go ahead and vote for someone. Then go home afterwards and gloat over your patriotism, and then wake up tomorrow in the same place you went to sleep.

The power shift will only be cosmetic, as the Feds and company will continue to drop financial bombs on our soil.

Conservatism at all times is the correct stance, yet global warming as a commodity = global carbon credits = global taxes = in order to fund the global government.

World corporations economies now dwarf most governments, and now the common civilian is positioned to fight the Bank (and their enforcers; be it public or private).

So go ahead, ya'll quibble over Longshanks table scraps, divided = controllable. And gasp for air in your escapist behaviors.

Our economic system is not hard to understand, just hard to believe... because the average person cannot invent money out of thin air, and therefore cannot overpower those who can.

On the bright side, it's truly awesome to live in America. No really! Being in the flagship means we can outlast the others.

Remember, the better quality of life (not to be confused with standard of living), is the final consideration when you decide what to do.

Terrorism - acts which are intended to create fear, are perpetrated for an ideological goal, and deliberately target or disregard the safety of non-combatants, include acts of unlawful violence and war. Sounds more and more like our government then any (enter group name here) that I have ever heard of.

    BUSHES LITTLE SIDEKICK
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
He perfectly predicted the current meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen next
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide ,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch , Fanny and Freddy Mae ,AIG
The government took them over because they are bankrupt. Even with the goverment nationalizing hundreds of billions of dollars in debt the stock market is crashing
the credit markets are frozen and all of us may suffer beyond anything seen in generations
McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand how its been broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use quantum mathematical models very few people understand.
Bush and McCain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.
Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.
Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy. He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. . Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime. Check out this link to the truth http://my.barackobama.com/keatingvideo
It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a budget surplus like Bush did but a crashing economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit. Most of it Bush created and it will take decades to pay it back.
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
If you are tired of going back instead of forward hold them accountable this time
This is our last chance to cushion the impact of of a economic meteor.
If mccain cant use a computer even to send email do you really hes qualified to run our country during a depression
Your common sense knows the answer

Bush may not be on the ballot this year but his policies are
You can have more of the same our we can turn the page NOW
    Elect Obama Biden 2008

A concerned canadian has a comment that defames a US presidential candidate who will more than likely win if the Republican party allows the election to go smoothly without trying to steal it again. Why do you think that Americans are coming out in droves for the Black guy? We are sick and tired of paying more into taxes than we have for ourselves. You all have universal health care and a relatively stable economy...good for you! We don't, and regardless of whatever you think, you are not living here dealing with this mess that has gone on for far too long in a supposedly democratic society. Furthermore, here in the US, fathers and mothers name their children without thinking about what that name may later represent to the populace. If you were named Sally and a serial killer was named Sally, would you rush out and change your name? Barack's father had the same name, and because he is now dead, that makes Barack H. Obama, Sr. as he was a Jr. Also, you did not know Martin Luther King, Jr., I did, He would have approved of Obama and helped him get elected. In a racist society one needs the capital to get beyond the usual rhetoric, like yours here! Get a grip Canadian, I have never said anything about your Queen, so please allow us the pleasure of electing the man we want to lead us here. I have already voted, that is because I knew who will be the best for the job. Changed from Hillary based on negativity. Adults can see things a lot clearer, and we adults believe that having someone who is not so negative with everything and against us the people, would be the best representative for us in the international community, which has made the US a lot more dangerous than before Bush's reign. If we wanted Kings and Queens here we would not have fought the Revolutionary War!

If the LA Times tape is no big deal as obama stated he should have the tape released. He will not do that as it will show America that obama stands before you and lies. The LA Times should be required to show the tape in its original form as America deserves to see it and make our own decisions of its relevance.

America is about to see a president elected by foreign nationals who will serve the interest of the foreigners over America. The heart and soul of this country are about to be sucked out of her by and double talking lying cheating unethical messiah.Obams campaign finance abuse as well as voter fraud assistance leaves the McCain campaign at a serious disadvantage only because he chooses to follow the rules. When you go to the polls you must decide do I want to keep the WhiteHouse with honesty and integrity as in McCain or do you want to cheapen it by allowing obama who panders to and pals around with terrorist and other questionable characters.

What do you really know about Obama???s economic philosophy? Since he has never run a town, state or business, he has no record to look at. Oh, he has made lots of promises, but given that he broke his promise to be limited to public campaign funds, you can???t put much faith in that, and there will be means to keep those promises anyway.

But you do know that Obama, along with his democratic buddies in Congress, personally and professionally advocated for a residential housing policy favoring forced sub-prime lending, which subsequently resulted in massive defaults and foreclosures, leading to your loss of significant equity value in your home, to the point that it destabilized your banks, which panicked the stock market, which wiped out your savings.

Look and listen to Obama for yourself. Obama in this video, addressing his community activist work and his work representing ACORN in litigation against the banks and relating to the Community Reinvestment Act, and addressing the failure of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae as those actions relate to the destruction of our economy by causing the current real estate and subsequent financial crisis, states that, and I quote:

"Subprime lending started out as a good idea, helping Americans buy homes who previously could not afford to. Financial institutions created new financial instruments that could securitize these loans, slice them into finer and finer risk categories, and spread them out among investors and around the country, as well as around the world. In theory, this should have allowed mortgage lending to be less risky, and more diversified."

Acknowledging the catastrophe, but as apologist for the Democrats, Obama then offers this justification.

"The original idea was a good one, which was, lets see if we can distribute risk more broadly, and make it easier to provide loans to people who otherwise might not be able to get one."

Yah, great idea. Economically unsound, but embraced by Obama. Listen for yourself. You cannot dispute the mans on words recorded live:

People on these bogs are fond of saying that the current economic meltdown was caused by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac underwriting bad mortgages. While Fannie and Freddie obviously are guilty of writing bad mortgages, and worse, guilty of lobbying Congress to allow them to do so with impunity, their actions are just a small piece of the puzzle when it comes to determining who (or what) caused the financial crisis we face today.

In 1929 the stock market crash caused the banks to fail, because the banks were in bed with the stock market. Back then, banks owned investment houses, so when the stock market fell, the banks fell too. This triggered the Great Depression. So in 1933 the Congress wrote laws that regulated banking, making it illegal for banks to own investment companies, mortgage guaranty companies or insurance companies. The idea was to keep key industries separated by a fire wall, so that if one industry failed the whole economy would not go down in flames.

But the Republicans under Bush deregulated the banking industry. Senator Phil Gramm wrote legislation (the Gramm Rudman Act, the Gramm Leach Biley Act, etc.) that stripped away the regulations in the financial and insurance industies. He pushed them through the Republican Congress and they were signed into law by Geo. W. Bush. John McCain voted in favor. Everybody said how great it is to deregulate and create free markets.

Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns and Merrill Lynch each gave over a million dollars to Senator Gramm's re-election campaign.

The economic collapse that happened later was a direct result of the deregulation, and here's how: the banks wrote bad mortgages, then bundled the mortgages into investment vehicles that they sold all over the world, and they even got firms like AIG to insure the investments. It was all a house of cards.

If there had been no deregulation, sure we would have had a bunch of bad mortgages, and the mortgage guaranty and real estate industries would have suffered, but there would not have been a global financial meltdown, since the problem would have been contained in one sector of the economy. You can thank Geo W. Bush, Sen. Phil Gramm and Sen John McCain for the meltdown, since they were strong proponents of deregulation.

Furthermore, although Fannie and Freddie are now holding the bulk of these bad mortgages, Fannie and Freddie did not originally write most of these mortgages. They bought them after the fact, bundled by banks/investment companies. Fannie and Freddie got screwed by the Wall Street fat cats. And so did you, if you pay taxes.

What is Phil Gramm doing today? He works as a lobbyist in Washington, trying to make it legal for the Swiss bank he represents to sell Death Bonds in the United States. Nice guy, Phil Gramm. Incidentally, John McCain has said that he wants to appoint Phil Gramm as Treasury Secretary. Some people just can't learn from their mistakes.

Spam-tacular as alway Now For... Of course had we asked YOU or your buddies at McCain headquarters a year ago about the mortgage industry (and then waited for the blank look on your faces to go away or allowed you a life line in order to come up with an actual answer) we would have got the exact same answer, minus one thing. ALL we would have got from McCain or you is that deregulation is wonderful, and look at all the wealth that is being created blah blah blah. Please don't try to sit here now and pretend that McCain and his free-market deregulation-pushing libertarians would have FOR ONE MINUTE suggested we do any of the things we are currently doing to shore up the economy even A MONTH AGO! Guess what? we all have memories! and THAT'S what's driving those poll numbers you keep disputing too. Only 10 more days! :)

And again what was Frank saying at roughly the time McCains attempt at S.190. to fix Fannie and Freddie.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MGT_cSi7Rs

"These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis, the more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing."

So who really is the liar that soaked the American people?

    See also: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/01/08/politics/main2335631.shtml

In the exchange with "Joe the plumber" we found out that Obama really is as radical as his early political acquaintances, Davis, Ayers, Wright, etc., and that he is into the failed economic policy of wealth redistribution. Obama's tax and spending plans alone would be bad enough, but add Reid and Pelosi to the mix, with the three of them controlling both houses of Congress and the executive branch without any effective restraint, and you have something that should causes concern even among moderate Democrats.
See Wall Street Journal: A Liberal Supermajority:

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122420205889842989.html

Their failed policies are what brought us to ruin. Even Bill Clinton says so. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsynspIqAoE
Obama and a supermajority of Democrats simply is not the change we need, nor is it change we can afford.

Obama's programs require him to tax, and his health care plan alone is a substantial hidden tax on all business, large an small. In reality, it does not really matter who he taxes, those taxes are going to be passed through the economy. He has to tax, because it is they only way he can pay for his massive social engineering experiments. Any first year economics student knows that taxation is a tool used to contract an economy experiencing inflation, because it reduces demand by reducing the amount of money individuals and businesses have to spend. It is contractionary, which is exactly what you do not want to do when the problem is that the economy is contracting already into recession. Like Hoover and FDR, Obama's plans will only make it worse for longer.

Obama's campaign is about how Americans Suck First and if the American news industry is going to expend it's credibility to get Obama in the White House will there be enough credibility to KEEP him there?

I hope this poll is accurate. However, I am taking no chances. Since I do not own a cell phone, I plan to walk precincts this weekend. I did it last week and discovered a wonderful outpouring of positive support for Obama. I asked each person I talked to to help spread the word - to call relatives and friends and tell them to vote for Obama - and to ask them to do the same. We the people can take control of our country. We the people CAN banish the fear, hatred, ignorance, and intolerance that the GOP represents. I will do the same on election day since I am a retired teacher.
I love this country too much to let it fall into the hands of bigots, know-nothings, Klansmen, religious fanatics and greedy CEO's. That's why I am working to elect Obama and his democratic team.

PS. To GregAugusta, McCain had a lot more contact with Khalidi than Obama. All of your allegations are nonsense. The real terrorists are the skinheads, neo-Nazis, and Klansmen who make up the core of the Republican party. Go to any McCain/Palin rally and you'll find them.
