    I've been away from the Newsweek Blogs for a while, but one of my last comments to a guy or girl called josemarti, who is a serious mouth-breathing Limbaugh Idolizer was that the McCain people would run away from him.

    Seems to have happened because there are a lot less of them around now. What I didn't predict was that John McCain would be running from them too! they should get back together, they deserve each other.l

    The ignorance of the Bush Loving EXTREMIST right is beyond comprehension. You people are not even aware that all the money Bush borrowed to finance the profits of his political backers was borrowed at extended interest so that the Government will not have to start paying pack those loans until the exact day aftr Bush leaves office. In order to facilitate this rape of the taxpayer, the loans Bush approved will cost an additional half a billion in extra interest on top of the "regular interest" and the principal. Bush has presided over the worst deficit spending of any president in history and McCain voted with him 90% of the time and you morons think McCain won't raise taxes. No matter who is elected for the next 3-5 Presidents they will be burdened by the treasonous actions of your "Christian right hero" GW Bush. Get a brain hicks.

      Of course taxes will be raised, changed and corrected. It is about who and how you tax. The idea of "spreading the wealth around" is the worst idea anyone could come up with. Plus, nobody, including the government, has the right to take money from someone and give it to someone else. Most of Obama supporters like the idea so they can continue to sit on their ass, bitch and complain about everything, and wait for a hand out. Sickens me anyone would think this is a good idea. Unless of course they believe in socialism, which is what we will get if he wins. Especially with Pelosi, Frank, Reid, Schummer, etc. Its insane.

          Spreading the wealth may be a bad idea, but "trickle down is a worse one. It sure as hell hasn't helped for the last 8 years. And we are spreading the wealth. We are taking from the middle class and giving it to the rich. That seems a little backward to me.

        Pity you are so undereducated. All taxes represent a redistribution of wealth. School systems only achieve some degree of parity through 'spreading the wealth.' Part of your taxes pay for highway maintenance on a highway I use. Thanks for the donation. The real question is how will we treat our fellow citizens? Are we the type of people who are willing to let 47 million of our fellow Americans go without adequate medical treatment for example? Or will we take the wealth of this great country and give everyone an equal chance .

        The whole point of taxation is to "spread the wealth"......be it the pot we all pay into for roads, schools, hospitals, our troops, etc......or the spreading of middle class wealth to the upper elite as has happened under the Bush administration. Obama is simply talking about spreading more to the middle class so we can do stuff like afford cars and refrigerators to boost the economy.........a "spreading of the wealth" that just this week Gallup (I think) said is favored by Americans by a 2 to 1 margin. This "Marley" guy sounds like he speweth before he thinketh.......or he's been drinking the red KoolAid again.

    If American's don't elect Obama I'm afraid you will have well and truly proven to the rest of the world that your slipping "top of the world/superpower" status that you used to deserve , is now well and truly defunct. I mean 2000 fair enough the elected President (Gore) was somehow usurped by Bush, 2004 was your chance to redeem that error and that got screwed up. Third time lucky please come to your senses and vote for Barack. If he does not win you really really only have yourselves to blame - for the next four years and the nation the once glorious USA will denigrate into. Obama is the only one who can save you from that - it really isn't that hard. Don't buy the 'socialist' propoganda - its a ploy used by almost every conservative campaign all over the world. It is just a way McCain tries to convince you that taxing the rich to give to the working class is somehow a bad idea because he knows the negative connotations that come with the world. But i know as American's you don't like to be told what to do, especially by foreigners (I'm an 18 year-old Australian) but unfortunately who you elect as president does affect everyone else, especially us Australians (our leaders tend to shamefully play lapdog to yours). Please i urge you to look at the facts past the smear campaigns and irrelevant issues. Again you only have yourselves to blame if you don't learn from the last 8 years.

    Why are the principles that we take care of one another in this once prosperous country now seen as some askew socialism. I don't believe most of the haves in this country mind the what , 3% change in their income. Yes they all ready pay more than 1/2 the taxes which shows us just how much some folks actually make. Small business well, look at joe the plumber. In the end he wasn't gonna pay more and all this rhetoric spewing from McCain is just special interests and our corporate unacountables that now are going to share the burden instead of always dumping it on middle class. If this is socialism, I'm ready.

      I don't think Obama's going to be sworn in until law cases settle.
      Look up the law case yourself. Go to Honoluluadvertiser.com and read yesterday's paper.
      While you are there, go to starbulletin.com and read the comments from locals there,.
      Law and facts are nothing to get emotional about.
      Points of law is what lawyers enjoy.
      The suit was filed by a staunch democrat and Hillary supporter.
      Wonder about your own life. OK.
      Put away your anger management problems and simply review facts without deep emotion. It is history and old news since the case was filed a couple of days ago.

          The greater ethical question for me today is the rush to judgement of the 'zealots' yesterday about this unfortunate deranged young lady. The lynch mobs were forming spurred on by irresponsible media like FOX, Drudge and the talk show crowd. Objectivity may be a fallacy as your post quotes, but the press needs to be held more accountable. Where are the apologies? CNN, to its credit, didn't take the bait. The nutjobs (on both sides ) are not just gullible but willfully obtuse when the truth is finally given to them.
          On the bright side I see that many of our EXTREME right buddies like Unholy, icey, Lori, etc seem to be in hiding tonight. I would like to think in shame but i am too realistic to believe that..

    The greeting in Hawaii was odd,because there were no supporters. Few felt he has been there for his popular granny. She was a Bank VP for years and is well liked.He told the mainland press before leaving that his fame was making her popular, which upset many locals there. It turns out Obama lived very well as a boy in a ritzy apartment in Honolulu.The flowers and cards were from her friends and clients who care that her Grandson has been gone completely in her life.He spent a total of 44 minutes with her after arriving in Honolulu on his campaign jet.
    Wry comments about his use of campaign money to show off were muttered, and many say they saw the plane didn't have an American flag insignia on it anymore.

    Many felt he had only come to get a birth certificate since another lawsuit was filed in Hawaii against him for it.
