After 9/11, the US government started rounding up Muslims without cause and without due process of law, like we did to the Japanese Americans in WWII. The Bush administration called it's main internment camp Guantanamo Bay. While there are certainly many guilty terrorists held in Guantanamo, there are also many innocent American citizens who have been held illegally for years without even being charged with any crime. They have been tortured by our government. Some of them have died.

Recently the Supreme Court ruled against the Bush administration in the matter of Guantanamo Bay. The Supreme Court Justices were NOT on the side of the terrorists. They were on the side of the Geneva Convention, that says you can not torture POWs, and on the side of US laws that state you can not imprison a person without charging them with a crime and bringing them to trial. I'm sure that like most Americans, the Justices who voted against the illegal, immoral doings at Guantanamo didn't feel sympathy for the terrorists. They felt sympathy for the laws of AMERICA, the land of the FREE, where even rat finks get a fair trial.

Meanwhile, back in Iraq, the Bush administration is busy trying to build a smokescreen to hide the CRIMES they have committed. Those pesky weapons of mass destruction. Just think, the National Debt went up over 6 trillion dollars under Bush. More than 2 TRILLION of it went directly into the pockets of Halliburton, a corporation owned by the Cheney family. Halliburton is now a DUBAI corporation and therefore is not subject to US taxes. All that money they took out of the US Treasury is going into the coffers of a MUSLIM country.

Did you hear about how the US government is being charged millions for Halliburton deliveries of sand into Iraq from Kuwait? Sand. Like there is a shortage of sand in Iraq? Another contractor shipped sand from Idaho to Iraq at our expense. Nobel prize winning economist Joseph Stiglitz discusses these and other excesses of our current government's out of control spending in Iraq.

Your grandchildren will be working like slaves to pay off this debt, so that the Bushes and Cheneys can live the high life in Dubai.

Yeah, they're patriots, Bush&Co. They wear flag pins. And hide the money they stole from America in Dubai.

And they want me to believe that Obama is a socialist. Right.

In case you think McCain is any different than Bush, watch this:

Obama has 63 Nobel Laureates working on his policy team. They are developing a plan to push America back to the top. Who is responsible for McCain's planning? Americans would be shocked to find that Douglas Holtz-Eakin is the sole person responsible for planning McCain's policy for America's future. Holtz-Eakin is also McCain's economic advisor, filling two full time positions on McCain's team. How can one single man (an economist) be responsible for developing a viable technology plan for our future? Obama has an enormous pool of the most intelligent, talented men and women in America working for him. Soon, they will be working for US.

And let's not forget that the McCain campaign spent more on Palin's makeup artist than it did on it's foreign policy advisor. When you pay your makeup artist DOUBLE what you pay your foreign policy advisor, it is time to start examining your priorities.

You look just fine without makeup, John. And Sarah is young enough not to need any. So cut the crap, and start paying some good ECONOMIC ADVISORS so you can have a fiscal plan to present to America. We're in the middle of a huge global financial meltdown, and you are worried about hair and makeup? PLEASE start worrying about the middle class, John. Please.

Here's a video in which Obama discusses fiscal responsibility. Anyone who cares about the economy should see it.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5d4a6RNhCUo

On this web page, you can calculate the amount of your TAX RELIEF under Obama's plan (This tax calculator is for personal income, not for businesses. Remember that if you itemize, your tax cut will be higher than what the calculator shows. However, Obama's new 1040EZ allows people to get credit for some itemizations without having to fill out the long form and schedules.)

You can get even more information on Obama's economic policies from the Blueprint for Change.

One wonders what Nowforthetruth will do once the election is over. Get a job, perhaps?

  • Posted By: 40YearR @ 10/28/2008 1:35:17 PM

Er, ah "Nowforthetruth": In an earlier posting your exposition is that Palin is not a Socialist since she took money from the oil companies and redistributed it to Alaska citizens... It's not Socialism because "Alaska has no State taxes... It is not taking money from one person and giving it to another person."

So where did the oil companies get that money?

But I should fear Obama as a "Redistributor" and a "Socialist" because he wants to roll back a tax break for the rich that (before he sold out to the right wing) McC opposed and called 'irresponsible" because it benefitted "only the rich"?

Is your reposting here directed to fears about "Socialism", or is it just innuendo, or are we trying to fold in a little racism too?

I've got an idea, since we have no more ideas, let's run our campaign on fear, smears and hypocrisy.

    Yeah, that's the ticket!

Keep talking "Nowforthetruth", you're really helping!

Bloomberg is an idiot. He will go down as one of the worst mayors in NYC's recent history. Those who liked him before hate him now after the term limits grab for power. He is a conniving hypocrite. He will lose the next election. Good choice in picking someone to take advice from.

C-SPAN THIRD PARTY VP DEBATED NOVEMBER 2

Newsflash to Bloomberg: We're desperate for reasonably priced healthcare coverage out here in the real world. I about fell off my chair when I didn't see ANY word from you on healthcare. As I write this, there's a logo from the AMA and "Voice of the Uninsured.com" on the right of my screen. How could you overlook this elephant in the room? It kind of had a Bush-never-having-seen-a-checkout-scanner out of touchness. I know things may be rough in billionaire-land these days, but, assuming you're not bankrupt yet, at least you don't have to worry about the final insult: surviving the financial meltdown only to be pushed over the edge because you got sick. And not seriously ill. Just moderate surgery with some follow-up prescriptions. Now, I'm not a New Yorker, and by all accounts I respect you and the job you've done - heck, you even made a lot of sense recently on "Meet The Press." Maybe this was just an oversight, but holy jeez, your honor, if someone doesn't get a handle on this healthcare mess, you can forget any economic rebirth.

    Yours from a different planet!

In this video, Obama, who claims he has "no ties with Acorn" notwithstanding the $800,000 paid to an Acorn group during the primaries, is campaigning at a convention of Acorn and I believe two other Community Activist's organizations. Ask if he will be their ally if he becomes President and pledge to meet with leaders of Acorn and the others in his first year, Obama says, quote:

"Yes, but let me say that before I even get inaugurated, during the transition, we are going to be calling all of you in to help us shape the agenda."

See and hear it for yourself. Obama promised that Acorn and a couple of other groups like it will setting his agenda if elected even before he is inaugurated:

Where's the beef? It started out as a strong letter to our future commander and chief and then fell totally flat. I think someone edited out your top ten recommendations for our new leader. Try again.

  • Posted By: Nowforthetruth @ 10/26/2008 8:21:11 PM

This is real simple economics. How many full-time employees with benefits does a person with a $50,000 income personally employ? For most, none. How many does a person with $250,000 employ? One less under Obama's tax plan, two less if you include Obam's health plan.

    • Posted By: cajademierda @ 10/27/2008 11:31:55 AM

Your comment makes no sense. And the only reason you employ anyone is because you can make money off of their labor. It is that money you make that is taxed, not the worker's salary which is a write off. Laying off a worker would cost the business owner whatever profit the owner is making on that worker. A tax increase only takes a small portion of that profit, whereas firing someone costs the business the whole thing. Thus, they could double income taxes overnight and the tax increase itself wouldn't cause anyone to be laid off. The effect of the tax increase on demand for your products might, but not the increase itself.

      • Posted By: HyeAghcheg @ 10/27/2008 5:21:38 PM

I can see your reasoning, but the reality is, the economics game doesn't play that way. The point is, there is little incentive for a business owner to hire employees and expand their business if the government is going to take a high percentage of their profit. They can sit back, do less with fewer employers and net the same amount in their own pockets. People are not motivated to increase their earnings so they can pay more in taxes. They're motivated to KEEP their profits and improve the lives of themselves and their families. Think about it logically - it's not a difficult concept to comprehend.

        • Posted By: dsmb2007 @ 10/27/2008 5:56:19 PM

I'm a registered Republican who owns a small business that employs 10 people or so. I know and have talked to a number of small business owners, most of whom make over the $250,000 or close to it. Though they all say they don't want to pay a higher percentage in taxes, all of them say it doesn't effect the decision making when they think about expanding their business. Most are entreprenuers whose real motivation is their particular product or service. They enjoy 'playing the game', creating something from nothing. If they determine that a new employee is going to allow them to expand their business, they go for it regardless. I still believe in the fundamentals of the Republican economic platform, but I think there is much more to think about in this election than who's going to be taxed what. We entreprenuers will continue to do our thing, and most likely find a way around the additional taxes anyway. The real question is do we want a senile old man with a dimwit veep in the white house or someone at least a little respectable. Another stupid decision by McCain could do more to hurt small business than higher taxes ever would.

Mayor Bloomberg: it's easy to see why your company is such a success and your city loves you. I sincerely hope our new president posts your memorandum on the master bath mirror, where he will read it each day before going to work putting our great nation back together again.
If you decide to run for President in 2012, I'd love to help.

Mr. Bloomberg prescribed an excellent list of suggestions. I don't mean to be cynical, but I doubt it can be implemented due to the nature of our politicians. They should follow these suggestions, but the reality is, they're less concerned with doing what's right for the country (& the voters) and more concerned with their personal positions (& levels of political power). BTW, this applies to members of both parties!
