Here's a video in which Obama discusses fiscal responsibility. Anyone who cares about the economy should see it.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5d4a6RNhCUo

On this web page, you can calculate the amount of your TAX RELIEF under Obama's plan (This tax calculator is for personal income, not for businesses. Remember that if you itemize, your tax cut will be higher than what the calculator shows. However, Obama's new 1040EZ allows people to get credit for some itemizations without having to fill out the long form and schedules.)

You can get even more information on Obama's economic policies from the Blueprint for Change.

Obama to rename several departments according to Crystal Knight. Department of Treasury to become Department of Redistribution and Reparations. Department of Defense will become Department of Peace. Department of Education to be renamed Department of Political Correctness.

Jose Marti is busy making up lies. He keeps assigning outlandish quotes to someone named Crystal Knight. Who is Crystal Knight? A figment of Jose's imagination. Google "Crystal Knight Obama" and you will find links that lead ONLY to Jose Marti's comments on this Newsweek blog. On September 30, Jose tells us that Crystal Knight is Obama's new spokeswoman, and that she held her first news conference in Kalamazoo. That is his entire post. He knew that would get the name Crystal Knight linked to Obama on search engines. Since then he has attributed a dozen outrageous remarks to her, a person who does not even exist. Even this blog that I write now will link her name with Obama's in the blogosphere, providing him "proof" that she exists, and backing up his insane lies.

The only other link between the name Crystal Knight and Obama on the entire web that I could find was a comment posted on the Miami Herald website. This comment was in an article about how Jews in Miami are supporting Obama. The commenter made a rather nasty remark, and then wrote "Allah Akbar, all blessing on BHO." Given the context, that comment was designed to offend the Jews and to again link the name Crystal Knight to Obama. I wonder if Jose Marti is signed up on the Miami Herald website as Crystal Knight?

If you go to the Obama website you will not find any press releases or any mention anywhere of a spokeswoman named Crystal Knight.

Jose Marti is guilty of fraud.

And since many of JoseMarti's other posts are blatantly anti-Semitic, we can only assume that Crystal Knight refers to "Krystal Nacht" the night in Germany when the Nazi's broke into Jewish owned businesses and synagogues, destroying them.

Too bad that this Jose Marti doesn't have the great Christian heart of the other, more famous Jose Marti, the Hispanic writer who said that to friends and enemies alike he offers a white rose.

" Department of Defense will become Department of Peace"

Boy, God forbid. Though I'm sure we'd still do the same thing as always under the banner of "peacekeeping" operations...

France again warns American voters. Mr. Foucalt said today: Americans, do not think for a moment that France will stand by silently if you fail to elect Mr. Obama. He is the candidate that we have been waiting for. He is the candidate that will give your country it's coup de grace and allow La France to once again rule the world. We have put up all these years with your jokes about our hygiene, hirsutism, and love for Jerry Lewis, but no more. La France is on the rise. We are stronger now than during the glorious years of the Vichy government. We have nuclear weapons mes amis. We have a Navy. The French Legion. We have a glorious history. And we will reclaim our place in the world.

Kwansi Mifune unmasked. It was revealed today that his real name is Billy Budd and that he had changed his name after his religious conversion while serving time for tax evasion. I guess Obama will have to disown him too.

Mr. Obama on the defensive. "When I told ACORN to register the dead to vote, I meant the Grateful Dead." said the candidate today in Philadelphia.

McCain is calling for Stevens to step down? But, if it's true that he ran someone over and killed them in Virginia in 1964:

Then shouldn't he step down? It seems he is a menace land, sea or air. Is that what Mavericks do? Anyhow even if he didn't take a life with a car - and the news services are pretty sure he did because the Navy is covering it up with great diligence - he is still looking a little "run-down".

I can't take credit for writing this, but it is too good not to pass on. Enjoy.

    "Dear Red States:

We've decided we're leaving. We intend to form our own country, and we're taking the other Blue States with us. In case you aren't aware, that includes California, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and all the Northeast. We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation, and especially to the people of the new country of New California.

To sum up briefly: You get Texas, Oklahoma and all the slave states. We get stem cell research and the best beaches. We get the Statue of Liberty. You get Dollywood. We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom. We get Harvard. You get Ole' Miss. We get 85 percent of America's venture capital and entrepreneurs. You get Alabama. We get two-thirds of the tax revenue, you get to make the red states pay their fair share.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the Christian Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of single moms. Please be aware that Nuevo California will be pro-choice and anti-war, and we're going to want all our citizens back from Iraq at once. If you need people to fight, ask your evangelicals. They have kids they're apparently willing to send to their deaths for no purpose, and they don't care if you don't show pictures of their children's caskets coming home. We do wish you success in Iraq, and hope that the WMDs turn up, but we're not willing to spend our resources in Bush's Quagmire.

With the Blue States in hand, we will have firm control of 80 percent of the country's fresh water, more than 90 percent of the pineapple and lettuce, 92 percent of the nation's fresh fruit, 95 percent of America's quality wines (you can serve French wines at state dinners), 90 percent of all cheese, 90 percent of the high tech industry, most of the U.S. low-sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias and condors, all the Ivy and Seven Sister schools plus Stanford, Cal Tech and MIT. With the Red States, on the other hand, you will have to cope with 88 percent of all obese Americans (and their projected health care costs), 92 percent of all U.S. mosquitoes, nearly 100 percent of the tornadoes, 90 percent of the hurricanes, 99 percent of all Southern Baptists, virtually 100 percent of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones University, Clemson and the University of Georgia. We get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you.

Additionally, 38 percent of those in the Red states believe Jonah was actually swallowed by a whale, 62 percent believe life is sacred unless we're discussing the death penalty or gun laws, 44 percent say that evolution is only a theory, 53 percent that Saddam was involved in 9/11 and 61 percent of you crazy bastards believe you are people with higher morals then we lefties.

Finally, we're taking the good pot, too. You can have that dirt weed they grow in Mexico.

    Peace out,

    Blue States"

This type of trash is beyond belief. I doubt if after 9/11 we were concerned with which state we were from. Your kinda of hatred towards other Americans is sad. It does not reflect highly on yourself or the candidate you support. There are wonderful people in red and blue states. To bad you have never taken the time to see through your limited prism.

The conservative versions of this have been floating around forever, generally focusing on red meat, guns, and Budweiser, so if you're prepared to be judgemental over this you'd better prepare yourself to lay into the conservatives too...

This is a great article which is quite successful at addressing the issues in a rational, level-headed manner. If the next administration can make every effort to attack issues in the same manner the health of the country will benefit.

Bary, I am soooooooooo worried. What if that fat guy Murtha is right and rural America is full of rednecks? Then all your hard work will have been for nothing. I think I saw some outside of Harrisburg the other day by the side of the road changing a tire. There was a woman in the back seat holding a baby. And the baby was wailing and wailing. I think it was must have been crying because it had realized that it had been born a redneck. What future does that baby have in our society? I felt so sorry for it. What chance does that baby have of ever getting into Harvard or Princeton, Middlebury, or Bowdoin? I hope Murtha is wrong and that you will be our next President.

Free trade theory is like derivatives theory, they both are elegant and look good on paper, but they do not work as proclaimed in the real world.

When the dust settles, it would not surprise me if it was discovered that all the economic gains made by Asia came at the expense of the middle and working classes in the US. Basically a zero sum game camouflaged by imaginary profits made by the financial sector.

Bush and his ilk (including McCain) have put us in a serious bind, both economically and politically. It will be a hard fight to get out of the hold Bush and his spawn have put us in.

Obama has 63 Nobel Laureates working on his policy team. They are developing a plan to push America back to the top. Who is responsible for McCain's planning? Americans would be shocked to find that Douglas Holtz-Eakin is the sole person responsible for planning McCain's policy for America's future. Holtz-Eakin is also McCain's economic advisor, filling two full time positions on McCain's team. How can one single man (an economist) be responsible for developing a viable technology plan for our future? Obama has an enormous pool of the most intelligent, talented men and women in America working for him. Soon, they will be working for US.

And let's not forget that the McCain campaign spent more on Palin's makeup artist than it did on it's foreign policy advisor. When you pay your makeup artist DOUBLE what you pay your foreign policy advisor, it is time to start examining your priorities.

You look just fine without makeup, John. And Sarah is young enough not to need any. So cut the crap, and start paying some good ECONOMIC ADVISORS so you can have a fiscal plan to present to America. We're in the middle of a huge global financial meltdown, and you are worried about hair and makeup? PLEASE start worrying about the middle class, John. Please.

Who is bested suited to lead in these difficult times? The two candidates have had to deal with both a major presidential level decision and a global crisis in the past couple months.

We just witnessed as good a side by side crisis test as you could ask for. Both candidates had to respond to the global financial meltdown, which John's campaign manager Rick Davis called "the worst financial crisis in our nation's history." It was John McCain who was late to recognize what was happening and then couldn't figure out how to respond. He made a dramatic show of suspending his campaign because he knew he needed to seize the initiative politically, but then didn't seem to have any coherent position once he took charge. It doesn't inspire confidence when you say you're going to do something and then back down within days.

On the critical matter of selecting a VP who would step into the Presidency in an emergency, John McCain gives us an unintelligent mediocrity without knowledge or experience in national and international issues. Palin clearly was chosen to fire up the religious right base, but she has little appeal to the vast swath of America. Obama's VP pick is Sentor Joe Biden, who clearly has foreign policy chops and could legitimately step into the Oval Office should the need arise.

John's horrendous POW experience did nothing to prepare him for the job of president. A captive soldier must cope with a situation in which he has no control and can decide nothing. A President of the United States must make good decisions over and over again. Barack Obama has demonstrated the intelligence, calmness and good judgment we so desperately need in a leader for these troubled times. He has been tested repeatedly in this marathon campaign and he has risen to meet every challenge, sticking to his message of hope and change, and not falling into the low-life mud slinging we have seen from McCain.

Obama has better judgement, better temperament, better manners and better ideas that John McCain. I'm a middle-aged white female Christian Republican, and I am voting for Barack Obama.

Haas fails to understand an important fact about "trade". Billions of people in the world subsist on less than $ 2 a day. These people cannot buy US products. Furthermore, for a so-called "Christian" nation to ignore the beggars both outside and inside our borders is a violation of the bacis precepts of Christianity.
Our current trade deals are lousy arrangements for many of our trading partners. NAFTA decimated the Mexican middle class, and our subsidzied agricultural exports drove many Mexican farmers out of business. Columbia is not our "friend." The Columbian government continues to look the other way as right wing goon squads, often supported by the Columbian government, murder union organizers. We need trade deals that guarantee workers a decent standard of living and the right to organize unions, Our trade deals must insist on environmental protection. If countries are unwilling to abide by these terms, no trade deal. The European imposes a number of standards that a country must follow to obtain membership. We should do the same.
In addition Hass does not seem to understand the concept of a sustainable global economy. Our current global economy is a one-way ticket to global mass destruction. We must reduce the carbon emissions in our atmosphere. We must re-cycle all of our resources. We must de-carbonize our energy supply ASAP (We do not have a 30 year lag time.) And we must institute and encourage wide-spread family planning. The problems I mentioned in this paragraph are a far greater threat to the future of the planet than many of the issues Haas outlined in his article. Maybe both Haas and McCain need to be retired.

You were so right when you said that all they do is cling to their Bibles and guns. I think I saw some of them on side of the road on 95 the other day changing a tire. They looked so creepy. I could not weight to get back to Poughkeepsie. I am taking a course here at Vassar on heroes of the Cold War. I am reading about Julius and Ethel Merman. Have you decided what you are going to wear on Election Night? I think it is fabulous that you are moving the party outdoors to Grant Park. I hope the cops behave themselves this time. My dad is kind of upset with you because you have not called him since he helped raise those 2.5 million for you. He is hoping that you will name him Ambassador to Thailand. Can't wait till you become President. Well gotta go.

to all the neocon obama haters who populate these chatrooms in their last days, here is a review of what you received 8 years ago. When George W. Bush became president nearly eight years ago the world was largely at peace, the U.S. military was largely at rest, oil was $23 a barrel, the economy was growing at more than 3 percent, $1 was worth 116 yen, the national debt was just under $6 trillion and the federal government was running a sizable budgetary surplus. It will take a lot of work to turn this around

    • Posted By: Vypurr @ 10/27/2008 10:10:33 PM

A very nice, but very incorrect picture you paint. The world wasn't peaceful, as we were getting our asses kicked on a regular basis by Al-Queda. Remember the first time the WTC was bombed, The USS Cole, and our embassies were attacked? Of course Pres. Clinton was too busy with his pants down around his ankles to do anything about it, and wouldn't have done anything anyway as he had caved to European opinion and wanted to be "liked," so Bush had to deal with it 8 months into office with 9/11. At least he took a stand, and the result is we haven't had an attack in over seven years.

And in case you haven't noticed, Bush doesn't control oil prices... the world market supply and demand controls gas prices, which are plummeting as we speak. You didn't bring it up, but contrary to popular belief on the left, Bush didn't have his wind machines in Louisana during Katrina.

And finally, it is a myth that Clinton had a surplus. It never happened:

      http://www.letxa.com/articles/16

Gee, you sure blamed Bush for a lot of stuff... would you care to put him on the grassy knoll too?
