I think when John McCain selected Sarah Palin as his VEEP he was thinking with neither his head not his heart but another part of his anatomy! The little old man saw a new hot young chick and his bells started ringing! Hopefully, the rest of the Republican party will wise up before the next election cycle and not choose this ridiculous excuse for a leader as the next Republican contender.

Have you considered that there are other people in the US but white American's? By alienating these people you might be condemning yourselves to a permanent minority status. As a father of two 20 year old kids I believe the youth is a lot less likely to be caught up in racial or religious polarization. The problem for the republicans is whether they know it or not most American's with a brain believe they represent corporate America and religious zelots. This is no way to win general elections.

I'm just a little confused about one thing: Who is "Charity," and why does she need $150,000 worth of used clothes?

Not only is Palin not the only problem but as bad as she is, with her arrogance, dishonesty and self-focus, she is literally consistent with the rest. The voters??? fears can???t be of regulation or of social programs or of tax increases for the top 5%; rather the fear has to be of continued deregulation corrupted by greed and dishonesty and of continued neglect and apathy for the majority and of continuing patronizing and placating those stuffing their pockets and behind all of the problems. The Republicans deserve to be really ???spanked??? and even more importantly we just desperately need real change addressing the problems and needs of all Americans without the Republicans blocking it with their continuing focus on Special Interests and a select few. The Republicans are not the party they once were and they simply can???t be trusted. Even they, in desperation, admit that we need real change but now try to say we should fear Democratic control and spending, when they had eight years of leading the country with the result being the largest spending government, with more pork barrel, the largest national debt, after being given a surplus, the largest loss of jobs and all of the other drastic problems we face in our economy, country and globally. The Republican arrogance and self-serving irresponsibility has been clearly demonstrated and now the major challenge for the voters is to strongly support turning it all around. The voters literally need to ignore everything everyone is saying and simply recognize that we desperately need real change, complete change in order to accomplish the challenges we face! We really can???t take any more of the same.

I worked in the Human Resource field for over 35 years and was very involved in ethic issues. both in my own dealings with employees, potential employees, contractors, etc., and in determining whether employees violated the ethic laws. I am also a registered republican. It is very clear from my reading of the investigator's ruling that she did violate her state's ethic laws and should be punished. She cannot let her husband use her office to question employees relative to a personal issue. I realize the family keeps saying they were threatened but there is a proper way to handle that issue. I am now reading lots of other material she has been involved in and think it would be a horrible mistake for her to hold office.

Scandal about clothes will be an inconvenient footnote compared to the ethical storm that Palin might raise in the future. It seems highly unlikely that this Governor understands the concept of a "conflict of interest." If allegations regarding the Alaskan pipeline ring true, then either Alaska has awful ethical standards or we are dealing with an out and out corrupt leader, not a maverick!

I look forward to Palin running in the 2012 primaries. It will be great entertainment to see Romney, Huckabee, et al, debate her.

    • Posted By: Bass Pro @ 10/25/2008 7:43:57 PM

Interesting, I wonder if the Huckaby Campaign will claim that she mothered a black baby or that her son ratted out his fellow soldiers like he did to McCain in South Carolina?

Well, Sarah wants "power". That's for sure. I'm sure that "first dude" never gets a vote in that household. Republicans are good at manipulating people who aren't educated. They know , just as dictators have throughout history, that ignorant people will vote for anyone who feeds them or "holds 'God over their heads". It's unbelievable in this 21st Century. I am a retired school teacher and no one would believe the parents' notes to the school...their children's beliefs....If some of you read these things, you'd think you were reading documents from a third-world communist country. We're back to the feudal system, boys and girls....If you don't believe me, 'GOOGLE feudal system.

I see you got a good brainwashing by the ultra-liberal teacher's union, huh? With a little luck, you will return to your senses in a few years, now that you are retired...

Wong candidate. G W Bush is the one that accused McCain of fathering a black child back in the 2000 campaign.

Guess who McCain hired to run his campaign this year? Some of the same people that worked for W in 2000.

        • Posted By: sfrose @ 10/25/2008 8:09:09 PM

Yes. literally the SAME PEOPLE who launched that attack that McCain found so reprehensible then, and so convenient to do to Obama now. What a LOSER.

If you're gonna drag up immigration, you're gonna create a lot of unintended consequences with Latino voters. You think they're gonna vote for Obama in healthy margins now? Wait until the anti-Mexican GOP sentiment really amps up. You think the GOP wants to write off Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and Colorado permanently? You think they want to give the Democrats an in-road in Texas? There's a reason beyond McCain that the GOP doesn't bring up immigration, it would be a Latino Civil Rights Act, it would write off the Southwest for the Democrats for a decade.

  • Posted By: Bass Pro @ 10/26/2008 12:45:05 PM

whadda ya mean, McCain's losing. Didn't McNutty tell us a week ago that "I've got Obama right where I want him"?

On the last line of the Article suggesting that Potty Mouthed Palin will reinvent the Republican Party.

Wouldn't that assure at least the Democrat's tenure until 2020?

Obviously Darman has little repect for the intelligence of the American voter. On occassion I too am perplexed. however the fantasy that that nutcracker from Alaska is someone to be reckoned with is outlandish and absurd. We may not all be MENSAS, but give the electorate the benefit of the doubt that they have some semblance of intelligence.

Palin is the new(est) Quayle, another fluff head that will carry on the Rove banner. She doesn't need to just lose this election, she needs to be humiliated so badly that she will carry the Bush stink of defeat for the rest of her life.
That may not be a difficult task, once she starts talking off the cuff as a freelance idiot. Not everyone will notice that she can't complete a sentence, much less have it be grammatically correct, but enough people will catch on.

I see the Liberal Media is at it again. The Media is looking for any little thing they can find on Palin. She has explained that she does not own the clothes, the RNC bought them for her. They are NOT her clothes. I thought we were all supposed to stick to the issues? It is easy for Obama to stick to the issue because he has the Media to go after McCain and Palin. Sne is NOT a millionaire like the others. You all want change.

    • Posted By: Nins @ 10/25/2008 11:53:20 PM

Sorry, Tea Party, but you are wrong about this. Sarah's net worth is about $3,000,000. She and Todd own two houses, a tract of wildness land, and have their own private plane in Alaska. She makes $250,000 a year. She most certainly IS a millionaire. And she is worth considerably more than Joe Biden, who not only isn't a millionaire, he owes a huge mortgage. Joe manages to buy his own suits, and even pays for his wife's dresses. There is NO EXCUSE for Sarah siphoning off $150,000 for clothing for a campaign that lasts on 2 months. I guarantee you that if she was footing the bill, she would have spent less than $5,000.

I've got three words that describe Sarah's clothing budget:

      Abuse of Power.

        Nins -

You are waaaay too concerned about the Palin's finances. Sounds like you are green with envy; evidently that his a lot more money than moveon.org is paying you for your endless, breathless partisan blogs, huh?

Oh, that's right, you are a physician that owns 3 corporations and a former Republican. And I hear tell you leap tall buildings in a single bound in your spare time...

        You are a joke.

  • Posted By: mim12 @ 10/26/2008 12:28:46 PM

Palin is not qualified to be VP. Get over it. Palin is good for the back woods of Alaska with 700,000 registered voters but not the Mainland; you have over 700,000 in most counties. She has paraded her own 17 year old daughter for selfish reasons, paraded the 17 year old stud; charges the kids expenses back to Alaska; a mad person that does not believe in abortion even in rape and incest; under investigation by her own state. Look at the education:
    Sarah Palin:
Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester
North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study
University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism
    Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester
University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in Journalism
The potential voters, that she preaches the hatred venom, cannot afford to shop at the top stores in New York, but she is the down home person. She is an opportuntist, and McCain is in his final glory days.
Palin knows nothing of Foregin policy, and almost nothng about Domestic policy, except the speech writers of the Bush Administration. Pushing your little wagon to voters in a town of 7000 to get elected as mayor, does not make your ready for prime time or to be VP.

There hasn't been a Democrat majority in Washington since 1965, and before that, 1933. It looks like we are about to see another such event take place. By November 5, 2008 both houses of Congress and the Presidency will be in Democratic hands.

For those readers who can think for themselves, think back to 1965. Kennedy and the Civil Rights movement. A pivotal time in our history, one we can all be proud of. And 1933, when FDR gave us the New Deal and turned around the Great Depression. If you think about the past century, the only two times that we have had a liberal Democrat majority, America got STRONGER and BETTER.

      Nins-com-poop -

Again, you are laughable. Talk about a rose-colored version of history! In 1933, the world was in the grips of a massive depression that lasted until the outbreak of the largest world war in history, one that costs millions of lives. In 1965, and in the immediate years that followed, the US was gripped by race riots, assassinations, the Vietnam war, and student unrest the likes of which are unimaginable today.

Yep, those sure were wondeful time, huh, Ninscompoop? Thank God for the Democrats! LOL
