The only racists in this election are the democrats. They insist at bringing it up at every turn. It is ther equivalent to the Red Scare they pound the Republicans. As far as the less educated not voting for Obama, I would offer that the Democrat voting block is the most uneducated, high school drop outs, addicts, felons, union workers and you can add teachers and journalists to the the list as well.

Un-be-frickin'-leivable. Republicans are racists even before they vote.

Yeah, there's reason for despondency after the McCain win, but it ain't from us conservatives. You libs better look in the mirror at your willingness to let a lying media tell you how pretty you are.

Let's not overlook the fact that Republicans are suing to throw out thousands of votes in Lake County, that they shortened hours for voting in democratic counties in Florida, that it's been demonstrated on Fox and CNN and in the documentary "Hacking Democracy" that votes can be flipped as is already happening in 3 states.

After encouraging a new generation (and re-inspiring an older generation) to believe again--this election will be stolen. And the puppetmasters of our current corrupt administration will continue their string pulling.

James Dobson and Stephen Strang (who wrote a vile e-mail to his readership insinuating that if Barack Obama were elected boy scouts wouldn't be able to sleep safely in their tents--like any of the molesters of Boy Scouts have been deterred by the fact that there have been Republican presidents for 30 of the last 40 years) will claim victory.

And Rupert Murdoch will toast Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh and all those e-mail strategists for a job well done.

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 10/27/2008 12:19:12 PM

The greatest threat to our democracy was during the primaries when the DNC purged the Florida democratic primary, then reluctantly counted half the delegates once their candidate was a lock.

  • Posted By: Thevail @ 10/27/2008 1:17:45 AM

Absolutely EVERYONE, black, white, green, orange, or purple who NETS les than $250,000 a year should, if they have a grain of common sense be voting Obama.

    • Posted By: tbourlon @ 10/27/2008 10:04:39 AM

I'm sorry, but I just don't believe that. Both candidates are trying to buy our votes with promises of tax cuts - but no way is ANYONE getting a tax cut, let's be real, the government is WAY too much in debt for that to happen. Forget the bribes, look at their plans and compare that to their voting record. It's the only way to know for sure just how full of crap they both are.

      • Posted By: 4astrongamerica @ 10/27/2008 12:17:14 PM

McCain has not promised to cut taxes on anyone. His exact words have been "Why raise taxes on anyone?" Although Obama has promised to cut taxes, his record as well as his fellow Democrats say that will not happen. You can't increase spending and cut taxes...even Democrats know that. Since leaders in the Democratic Party have already begun creating legislation for new government spending programs that redistribute the wealth of hard working American's. If you think you are going to get a tax cut to balance that, you are very niave. Just look at history to tell you what is going to happen. Try looking at Jimmy Carter's Presidency and all of a sudden, things come into perspective.

"THE END" - Please, he's not implying we make up for our past sins by voting for the black candidate. He's saying let go of your fears and vote for the best candidate, which is clear to most of the educated, politically engaged public. The only way Obama loses is if people fear his race instead of fearing another 4 years of pending doom like the 8 we just had.

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 10/27/2008 12:13:59 PM

Most of the educated politically energetic? What are you talking about? Plenty of educated and politically energetic people see Obama's race as a positive, but won't vote for Obama because he has relatively little time on the national stage.

    • Posted By: BLR32 @ 10/27/2008 1:22:30 AM

Read carefully - by "people" I agree with the article that less than 6% will choose McCain on the issue of race, consciously or subconsciously. However, that 6% in the swing states may make the difference. This article is NOT implying that all Republicans vote based on race. Seriously!?!?

His drop in the polls started before the meltdown.
Palin is a fraud. She is a politician without even a basic knowledge of Civics, a Christian without compassion, and a leader without ethics. And the very people who buy into her simple little miss rural American act are the very same people who bought into the story of the poor little white girl who was attacked (and, gasp, sexually assaulted) by the black Obama supporter. For the sake of you who restrict your contact with the outside world to Rush and Fox news, I must inform you that it was all a terrible hoax. But the rush to judgement was quick and relentless by the hate-mongers whose whole political platform is centered on an irrational fear and hatred of Senator Obama. Gullible and willfully obtuse, they drag the political discourse into the mud. It is encouraging to see that the great majority of decent Americans, Republican, Democratic, and Independent alike are rejecting this assault on America.

Obama is ahead because of the economy. He wasn;t ahead before the economic collapse, and now he is. Who the HELL are you to accuse me, a loyal democrat of 25 years, of listening only to Fox and Rush?

  • Posted By: wilder5121 @ 10/25/2008 9:55:04 PM

It's not just that McCain wants to continue failed Republican policies that have almost destroyed America.

72-year old multiple cancer victim John W McCain picked Sarah Palin. His biggest decision yet, and he put politics and personal ambition...not country...first. He deserves to lose.

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 10/26/2008 12:05:23 AM

By far the best choice Obama could have made fro VP was Hillary, but he snubbed her. As president he will have to learn to work hand in hand with people he doesn't like. I thought that represented weakness and poor judgement. He probably caved in to Michelle, who isn't running for anything

      • Posted By: sepiasteel @ 10/26/2008 6:40:43 AM

All of your rabid GOP/anti Obama people, should pay VERY CLOSE ATTENTION to McCain's body language around Pail lately, he's been "side-eyeing" her because she been "mavericking" off the script.
Man if you people (Republicans) put that old ass man in office, this chick is gonna run all over top of him, she's gonna make us LONG for Dick Cheney, a man so reviled by his FELLOW Republicans, that they've effectively shuttled him off to political Siberia. Because even THEY know he's a bd person. Her behavior lately shows that someone has been filling her head with visions of Cheney-like puppet string power.
They're grooming this harridan for a Presidential run of her own...poor, deluded McCain thinks that HE'S gonna be in charge.
Hey, does anyone remember how MUCH they used to FRY Hillary for being a pushy woman? What happened to that? When he picked her, he picked his Waterloo, he's NOT a very smart man, just a VERY ambitious one.

Why are you responding to me? Your response has nothing to do with my statement. I've been loyal democrat for 25 years. This race, however, I am getting ridiculed and taunted more by fellow democrats than anyone else. Obama royally messed up when he went with Biden.

Here is something for you to think about. Who do you think knows the most about keeping America safest? Barack Obama or John McCain? My answer is John McCain because he has been to war and he understands why and how America must defend itself. Barack Obama is a smooth talker, talker, talker, talker, who hasn't done much of anything outside of collegiate and community organizer...he has a record of association with radicals and he is the most radical candidate ever to run for president. Whether you realize it or not there is a dangerous world out there and America needs a leader who understands how to handle it. Barack Obama is a risky choice I am not willing to take. I am a democrat voting for McCain/Palin on November 4, 2008. NOBAMA!!!! NOBAMA!!!!

I'm a democrat who is concerned about Obama's lack of experiencce on the national stage, as well as the fact that the DNC and party elites pushed him to the nomination, If Obama wins, Nancy Pelosi will be running up and down Pennsylvania Avenue with frivilous spending bills, bail outs, and tax increases in her hands, and a big smile on her botox injected face

Why dont actually RESEARCH McCain military record. I'll bet you'll be surprised at how little he actually accomplished. Even more telling is how he is viewed by his military contemporaries, he was and is reviled and viewed as a rich kid who had little or no compunction about invoking his father's name and power to ge this way. He is an EXTREMELY FLAWED ANGRY LITTLE MAN.
Man. Some of you Republicans hold onto this guy like he's a life perserver. Havent you gotten it yet, another 8 years of the same policies will destroy this country. DONT let your innate sense of racism end your child's future.

I am not a republican...I am a democrat who is not voting for an empty suit, nothing but rhetoric Obama. Maybe you need to do some research.... John McCain could have gotten out of Vietnam Prisoner of War early if he used his father's position but he refused to leave early because he knew the North Vietnamese would use that as propaganda against America. John McCain made a major sacrafice for his country...which is something Obama has never done. Obama hasn't served any time in the military to know what it is like to defend our country. Obama has used our American system to get a fine education and so has his wife, Michelle, but she has never been proud of her country before Barack was a candidate for the democrat presidential nominee. There is no way I will vote for Barack Obama. I don't trust him or his wife. Obama played underhanded tactics and the race card to take the democratic nominee from Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton was by far the best democratic candidate for president. NOBAMA!!!!! NOBAMA!!!!! Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton have said Barack Obama is not ready to be president. I don't consider campaigning for president to be experience for president. NOBAMA!!!!! NOBAMA!!!!!

      • Posted By: benkrapf @ 10/26/2008 2:01:28 AM

McCain hasn't been to war. If he were boots on the ground, I'd give it to you. He was and is a coward, and his service record speaks volumes to this.

All military service does not heroes make. Men and women are heroic while the service may not be.

        Metaphor:

McCain only knows how to stoke fires.

The race factor is very real. I've had people tell me to my face while canvassing voters that although they can't stand McCain/Palin, they won't vote for a black man for President. Fortunately they're in the minority and I hope these ignorant racists just stay home and don't bother to vote at all.

So everone who chooses not to vote for Obama is a racist?!?!?! John McCain is a superb candidate for presidency, not just 'the white candidate.' Barack Obama is a candidate as well, not just 'the black candidate.' How awful for people not to vote for Obama simply because he is black. How awful for people to vote for Obama simply because he is black.

    • Posted By: HAL--- @ 10/26/2008 10:54:26 PM

No, everyone who doesn't vote for Obama is not a racist, but given the state of this country and the "stuff" McCain/Palin team of made of....it does raise some doubts. One legitimate reason not to vote for Obama is that you are very wealthy..and have done well under Republican rule.

      • Posted By: jblackwell88 @ 10/26/2008 11:06:11 PM

Maybe the GOP just needs to fold and bring their ideas under the Democratic banner. Then we can dispense with this BS labeling. We'll just have one party with internally competing ideas. Sounds like coming together to me.

        • Posted By: tbourlon @ 10/27/2008 10:24:28 AM

I think we should have 3 or more parties. I'd LOVE to see a third party, a middle-ground party that actually tried to represent the MAJORITY of Americans, and not just the ideologues. The ideologues are the ones who have drawn a line dividing everything, and promote this us-or-them mentality. Assuming everything the Dems do is "intelligent" is as insulting as saying everything the Repubs do is "moral." But two parties is probably still better than ONE party, that's what they had in Iraq under Saddam. People complain Bush is like that, you REALLY want to go there?

How stupid are we. If you don't know we are already a socialist country what the hell do you think the recent bailout/rescue package was all about. Oh yea, how bout out Social Securtiy plan. That is exactly what we are right now so stop playing the fool and do your duty as called.

Do our duty? What duty is that, vote for the Black man? Agree to pay higher taxes and accept government run healthcare? Why should I have faith in government-run healthcare when the government does such a POOR job of handling the things they already handle, like Medicare? Yeah, I've got relatives on that, don't get me started. I know how bad it is. WE CAN'T RELY ON THE GOVERNMENT TO FIX EVERYTHING, WE HAVE TO DO SOME THINGS FOR OURSELVES!!!!!

This commentary drives me CRAZY!!! If he loses, it's because of racism. Can't be any other reason than race. Can't be because polling is a waste of time, can't be because people just don't trust Obama, it MUST be racism. Yes, I know I'll hear that if he loses, it's because I'm a racist. What I'm hearing is, I need to vote for Obama, a man I don't trust, just to prove I'm not a racist. FO&D.

Hear Obama in 2001 Chicago Public Citizen Radio Interview criticizing the Warren Court as not radical enough for not pursuing redistribution of wealth.

Obama Says that community organizing is for the purpose of assembling the political power to force redistribution of wealth.

Alter has once again shown his leftist bias. Because I don't support Barack Hussein Obama, I'm a racist. I also wouldn't support Hillary Rodham Clinton, does that make me a sexist? Guess what, I'm a conservative woman who could care less what color Obama's skin is (it's only half black, right?). He is a socialist, leftist, elitist, abortion-loving, inexperienced Democrat from the Chicago school of politics. 'Nuf said. If he were Michael Steele, Condoleeza Rice or some other conservative who just happens to be black, I'd support him. However, the fact he is black has nothing to do with the issue that he is not what our nation needs at this time.

Nope, don't believe you--you would NOT vote for any of the others you mentioned. Just by reading your comment, one can see something far more nefarious.

Look, you typical member of the Obama Thugocracy. I know you want to silence those of us who refuse to drink from the OBAMA Kool-Aid. Who I would or would not vote for really isn't any of your Obama-celebrity-paid-endorsement ***'s business! (British for the part of the anatomy that you obviously are). I am blogging here as a jouranlism major in college who is appalled by Alter's "writing" and his and Newsweek's complete lack of objectivity. I am a middle-class mom from the middle of America who would gladly vote for a QUALIFIED candidate of any color (and that used to include Colin Powell until he let race lead him by the nose). However, a fear-mongering, white-hating, Muslim, radical like Obama is not the way to go for America. Will sit down with terrorists without preconditions. Excuse me? Look at his associations -- look at REZKO, WRIGHT, FRAKLIN RAINES, AYRES, etc., etc., etc. I struggle to pay my bills like everyone else. Obama will be an OBAMANATION for America and its economy. The threats put forth by Alter and you convince me more than ever that I must vote AGAINST OBAMA as much as I am voting for McCain & Palin. You sad sack of _ _ _ _. I embrace America's diversity (especially as a second generation American), but not when what's under the hood is so obviously twisted. Obama is a robo-candidate who looks good in a suit, talks "pretty" and is benign, almost banale, to white America. But he is definitely a wolf in sheep's clothing and America needs to wake up and see that white or black (or both in his case), he is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG for America.
