I'm white, my greatgrandfather and his family arived in Ellis Isl in 1906 from Germany, lived in a German area of Cincinnati until they cluld learn English, working all the while--there was NO WELFARE--and they would not have expected any.. My grandfather fought in WWI, my father was crippled in WWII, and my son is a 2nd Lt in the Air Force at present.

THe only racism I am certain I have witnessd is the hypocrisy of "Affirmative Action" wherin since the 60' s if you were WHITE you had to have higher grades, higher scores, better performance etc etc than your black counterparts in every area of competative interaction if you were to prevail. AND this is the law of the land. So cut the crap --- I'm sick of self righteous liberal guilt ridden whites attempting to take the blame for the situation of blacks--and now attempting to destroy our nation by electing a black socialist with < 200 days as a senator as president just to ease their conssience--for what--being WHITE is not a crime!!

Your parents came from Germany? Well, that explains a lot.

If any of you right wing-nuts think there is no racism left in this country, just go down to your local VFW, American Legion, Moose, etc. and listen to the comments while News For Dumb Fux is on the TV. Of course most Black people will vote for Obama, what has the republican "con"servatives ever done for them or any other group that aren't in the top 5%? AS John Stuart Mills said back in the 1800s; "ALTHOUGH IT IS TRUE THAT NOT ALL CONSERVATIVES ARE STUPID PEOPLE, IT IS ALSO TRUE THAT MOST STUPID PEOPLE ARE CONSERVATIVE". Reading the comments by the righties proves him to be more right today than ever. If you have not learned anything from "shrubs" 8 years,go ahead and vote for Geezer & Dingbat and set our country back another 50 years.

Anyone that believes that McCain can improve on anything that the rest of you dumbass republicans who voted 'troublya' Bush TWICE (hang your heads in the ultimate shame, SERIOUSLY) are not wise to not only national, but also international issues. It's also a shame that so many voters are NOT colorblind. Anyone that votes on race, you are disgusting!!! And you know who you are...

    • Posted By: billysid57 @ 10/26/2008 10:01:23 PM

One thing any reasonable person can agree with is McCain's commitment to curbing spending in congress. He's one of the most thrifty Senators we've had in the past 20 years and exactly what we need more of in Congress. In comparison, Obama racked up 1,000,000/day for each day he was in congress in pork. Not a very good record, but just a sign of things to come.

      • Posted By: tarbolaez @ 10/26/2008 10:47:19 PM

Please check your facts. McCain has not "curbed" any spending.

        • Posted By: jblackwell88 @ 10/26/2008 11:16:40 PM

McCain is bad and Obama is worse. Take your pick.

          • Posted By: billysid57 @ 10/27/2008 12:33:21 AM

My point exactly, we're voting AGAIN for the lesser of two evils.

  • Posted By: ABACAB @ 10/27/2008 12:29:00 AM

If Obama wins, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are out of a job forever. It will be proven that ANYONE of any race can become president. If white racists are against him, then he'll have won on merit, and not on quota. The entire victimhood industry will fold up and die.

White people and Republicans ought to be happy if that happens. I will be.

  • Posted By: texnewmex @ 10/26/2008 2:42:31 PM

    stinger4290,

I am a Republican and have worked since I was 18 years old. I was taught a great work ethic by my mom and have never asked for a handout from the govt. I have paid into the system for almost 40 years and during that time there have been more and more govt. "programs" designed to give money to lower income people. So essentially, we all pay about 32% of our paychecks currently in taxes in addition to sales tax and other taxes. In addition to paying those taxes, I have given to United Way my whole life, food to food banks, food items at church and the list goes on.

The problem I have is that too many able bodies people would rather sit on their tails and get the free stuff instead of actually contributing like the rest of us. Those of us who work and pay into the system have to support ourselves and family and then someone else's family too. What is wrong with this picture? I should be able to decide how much money I give to help someone, the govt. shouldn't be able to decide for me and THAT is what Obama wants to do if he is elected. Maybe all of us Republicans will just quite our jobs, go on welfare and food stamps, and then we'll see if the Dems step up and start leading the pack and paying into the system to support the new non-workers. We'll see how well Obama's plan works then.

    • Posted By: Lovly2008 @ 10/26/2008 2:51:24 PM

texnewmex...... Maybe all of us Republicans will just quite our jobs, go on welfare and food stamps, and then we'll see if the Dems step up and start leading the pack and paying into the system to support the new non-workers.

Oh youre' saying that only Republicans work? Well there is a Democrat by the name of Barack Obama. He was not a child of wealth, he was handicapped by his race, as well as a pretty mixed up childhood and this man went on to college, studied hard, got into the most prestiegous college in the land and became an attorney. What were you doing? Working your little factory job becomming a nobody? And now here you sit acting like you've done so much. Im betting your probably a petty little grocery store manager and acting like you pay enough taxes to support a whole community of people. Please. Save the drama.

Yes if you "Republicans" would sit your behinds down, then there will be jobs enough, so all us non working Dems. can find a job. Be our guest.

      • Posted By: oregano @ 10/27/2008 12:19:05 AM

Good idea...I just got layed of...maybe I will just let Prez. Obama take care of me! That is a good plan - let him and his constituents support all the freeloaders --oops! I forgot -- they ARE the freeloaders..

This is a very true article. Senator Mc Cain will win it is only obvious as he is competing against a black guy. It will have made more sense if he was competing against nobody. The americans will never let a negro be president, they are all a bunch of hypocrites and this election is a pappy show. I am thrilled that Senator Mc Cain will win the american people deserves such a fine man as their leader. no doubt they will reap the rewards for their hypocrisy.

Obama will not lose because he is black. He will lose because he is a socialist and enough americans are intelligent enough to ignore the media and vote for the right man for president.

    Please Senior Citizens.
I know we were raised in a different time, but the world has changed. We cannot let
race dampen our enthusiasm for the person who will best lead our country. Mccain has
used poor judgement, one good example Palin, and resorted to lies, distortions and
attacks to try and win this election. Do we want someone like him leading our country?
    Of course not.
I cannot imagine any intelligent voter supporting a person such as this. Let us show
them they do not give us enough credit and that we choose to put country first.

    • Posted By: kayjen @ 10/26/2008 4:59:02 PM

Your first comment was, McCain's poor judgement in selecting Palin". I, too, am a senior citizen, and I am not in the least bit intimitaded by Sarah Palin, as you appear to be. You must be from the "old school" that believes "women should be seen, but not heard, (and kept in the kitchen). You are a disgrace to the female population.

      • Posted By: Brooklyn3 @ 10/26/2008 8:02:24 PM

I'm not intimidated by Palin, I'm revolted by her -- she's not intelligent enough to know she wasn't ready to be Vice President. She just blundered in and tried to persuade us that she knew much more than she did. She has no foreign policy experience or any national experience of any kind, and the largest newspaper in her own state just endorsed Obama. There are plenty of qualified women of both parties who could run this country -- and she isn't one of them.

        • Posted By: oregano @ 10/26/2008 11:58:09 PM

          Striking similarities to Obama...

  • Posted By: Underground Sanity @ 10/26/2008 3:20:09 PM

People who are unable or too lazy to examine the facts tend to look for a scapegoat. It is typically the "Liberal media." Where was the so-called liberal media when the country was stampeded into an illegal and unnecessary was in Iraq based upon fraudulent and deliberately deceitful use of "Intelligence" reports? They were solidly in Bush's back pocket! How Liberal. Why not take the time to actually examine the facts? Race is not the issue, economic survival and sane government are the issues to look at. Where has the Bush Administration brought us? Does anyone really think that McCain, who has ridden with and backed Bush at least 90% of the time, will bring us a better result? Wake up!

    • Posted By: Ijustwantitover @ 10/26/2008 3:36:39 PM

Guess you've forgotten Clinton, his cabinet members and congress making all the claims of weapons of mass destruction in Irag. You all agreed then, we were not even attacked, towers were still standing! So it was ok for his attack to distract from head in the oral office I didn't even care what he got as president till the strikes.to distract our attention.

  • Posted By: Underground Sanity @ 10/26/2008 3:27:13 PM

The mistake I see in these comments is the rational folks trying to persuade the racists, who are not operating on logic. they are operating on fear, ignorance and hatred. It is VERY hard to persuade someone like that based upon rational discussion. Comments like the one about fear of Blacks burning cars and such are just plain lunacy.
What may be more helpful is to get the racists to try to look at what they really SHOULD be afraid of - losing their job, losing their home, loss of their basic civil rights. These things are what Bush has brought and McCain shows no real desire to change. These are not Race issues, they are about votingn in the interest of your self and your family. To voate against these critical interests just because of the color of someone's skin is just CRAZY.

      Underground sanity: You are clueless

  • Posted By: swvalleydude @ 10/26/2008 3:36:36 PM

Vote for Obama? Yeah right. There are many of us white folks who are just waiting for Nov. 4th. We have been the silent ones. Voting day will reveal as the the majority who put McCain and Palin in office. And of course many demos will cry foul. So take your polls and flush them. For the fact is liberals are loud and everyone else just votes their hearts when the day comes. And with this an important point. to remember; Liberal Democrats breed Victims!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Posted By: jzayas @ 10/26/2008 4:02:51 PM

Racist! You and your kind need to get in touch with your feelings and attempt to make some rational sense out of them. It's unfortunate that even after almost 150 years your kind still exist.
You're all a bunch of bigots and hypricats in need of some serious soul searching. A bunch of far right religious anti-American freaks caught up in your shallow KKK mentalities. With your kind in total control I can only envision an American sociality Similar to that of Nazism, that of Medieval days, that of Emperor Rome a thousand years ago... Yes you???re a racist and you???re a sad case for a human .but your day will come and when it does your heart will drop from its very cavity and mine on the other hand will be uplifted.

  • Posted By: doulos57 @ 10/26/2008 11:41:08 PM

Alter - You are a real jerk - Maybe the majority of Americans simply decided they don't want a corrupt Chicago politician who has none nothing to fix the mess democrats have made of Illinois trying to fix Washington. Maybe Americans decided they didn't want a do nothing Pelosi Reid democrat congress and a never done nothing democrat President. Maybe they decided to balance Pelosi Reid with an experienced and solid McCain. Maybe they could care less if their President is green blue black brown red yellow or white but simply chose MCCain because they believe he is the best choice.

oh my god...i find the racism in this article outrageous. you actually call yourself a journalist? i'm so sick of hearing white people who don't vote for obama are racist. white people won't vote for obama because he is black. well how about all the black people voting for obama strictly because he is black? why isn't that racist as well? you make me absolutely sick.

Black people have been voting for white people for years. White people have been voting for white people for years.

Because a black person votes for a black person does not make him racist. Because a white person votes for a white person does not make him racist. When a white person won't vote for a black person because he is black that imakes him a racist.

One thing is certain. You have never heard a black person say they will not vote for a white person because he is white. But we have heard too many white people say too often they will not vote for a man because he is black. We have heard it in this election.

Therefore it is only rational that people might interpret the vote of many in this light.

Let's be real and understand that we are already a socialist country. What was the bailout package for? How about our current Social Security system? Quit being a loser and accept your duty like a man. Be a team player for once in your weak life and allow a true statesman to pull our country out of the gates of hell before we become a third world country.

The so called opinion polls results have become so boring and disgusting. They are being thrusted in our faces deliberately with the intention of making them a fait accompli. The media and a section of the inteligentsia have decided that Obama should be president and are working desperately to the answer. This is hardly a democracy. Democracy is the choice of the majority of the people, not that of the self styled opiinion leaders. What they are doing amounts to subtle blackmail. If they create the condition of an overwhelming Obama victory, Americans will be subdued, cowed and blackmailed into voting for him. This is no longer democracy. What the American people should do is vote overwhelmingly against the opinion polls and make them eat their words.

  • Posted By: tedloc @ 10/26/2008 3:57:46 PM

theoriginalmissz has got it all wrong. obviously living in a conservative small town where you can ignore the rest of the country and world. i'll go down the list point by point.

the media is fair to their audience... which like america is actually liberal
most americans are not conservative or christian for that matter. many are but just as many are not.

the electoral college is the only way a republican could ever win an election so i don't see what you have against that.

democrats tax... but they spend it on social programs not bailouts for banks and big oil.

we live in a world economy, globalization is real weather you like it or not therefore we must protect our allies and work together for a better world not just for us but for everyone.
----also it was republicans who sent us into two unnecessary wars. blame them for our sons dying in the streets of foreign lands.

republicans turned the greatest economic surplus into the greatest national deficit. 3trillion dollar budgets and two wars costing us billions.

republicans who borrowed on our future , wanted to privatize social security. (lockbox it geniuses!)

republicans who put forth the patriot act giving the government the right to spy on us citizens.

i agree that two party system is corrupt and problematic, but no one will vote third party out of fear of "throwing your vote away"

the un and nafta only have to deal with security and trade. our borders are our own and need to be secured period.

foxnews is about as biased and onesided as it gets. the only news program on television worth watching is the newshour with jim lehrer.

if obama loses there ought to be riots. just like there should have been the last two elections when a oil baron big business puppet was put in power not elected.

obama will win the election. and nothing serious will change like he'd like you to believe.

but at least we won't have a gung ho racist war vet starting more wars in places we don't need to be.

    • Posted By: VoterUSA @ 10/26/2008 4:01:57 PM

nope tedloc got it all wrong, listen to the founding fathers then knew what they were talking about

      • Posted By: tedloc @ 10/26/2008 4:12:32 PM

look the founding fathers had it right. but over time both parties have sold out the american people time and time again for personal greed. i'm not expecting anything to seriously "change" no matter who is elected. rich will get richer. poor will get poorer and that's the bottom line. mccain is not going to win period. not because he isn't qualified, not because of the "liberal media" but because he's a warmongering republican just like george w bush... so if anyone wants to send their son to die in iran please i implore you vote john mccain. it's a joke to him... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-zoPgv_nYg

        • Posted By: billysid57 @ 10/26/2008 4:39:41 PM

Have you ever thought that maybe the rich are doing something that the poor aren't? Ever heard of the American entrepreneurial spirit? Ever tried it? The taxes that Obama will raise will crush that spirit - always does.

          • Posted By: tedloc @ 10/26/2008 4:48:36 PM

"crush their spirit" seriously?... c'mon obama's tax plan only will affect those making 250k or more.
plus how are we supposed to pay for the trillions in deficit that the last person YOU voted for has racked up over the last eight years. republicans lower taxes and borrow money to spend. democrats tax and spend (it's called fiscal responsibility)

            • Posted By: oregano @ 10/26/2008 11:26:24 PM

Dream on....Obama's plans will most likely raise taxes on all working Americans. And most of all it will hurt the middle class. Please inform yourself and stop spouting off empty rhetoric!

You have no clue who I voted for. And do you really think that we can tax our way out of this? If you knew anything about economics you would know this is EXACTLY the last thing we would want to do.

Where is the evidence that most Americans do not have conservative, Christian values?

      • Posted By: tedloc @ 10/26/2008 4:25:56 PM

where is the evidence that it does?. and seriously faith shouldn't factor into politics.

i believe in an after life. but the idea of eternal salvation for being "good" is ridiculous and is used to make people content with there pitiful unfulfilling lives.

christians don't bomb other people's country into the ground. they don't drop the a-bomb, they don't put japanese people in internment camps. they don't have covert operations, they don't bailout oil companies they don't de-regulate everything they can for the sake of money. they don't pollute "god's green earth".... but republicans do. so drop faith for a minute and realize what is really at stake here.

        • Posted By: oregano @ 10/26/2008 9:29:43 PM

You are the one who brought up faith. I think you are confused. Your argument does not follow logically.
