Obama never conducted any meetings for the special committee that he was the head of because he doesn't know how to do that. He is nothing but a puppet and is told what to say and how to look. He has no original ideas or thoughts. He is the empty shell for the far left liberals and uses the race card if anyone questions him or challenges him.

Unlike your original ideas that Fox News gives you.

      • Posted By: izme @ 10/26/2008 7:51:12 PM

So your original ideas obviously come from NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN and MSNBC. In other words the liberal leftist broadcasting companies.

Hahahha you mean all of them? So if everyone, including the experts disagree with you, you just call them a name and plug your ears? That's pathetic!

For many, to have Senator Obama elected as President of the US would be a historical celebration. It would mean that the majority of the country as moved into the 21st Century and finally begun the work of inclusion of all of its US citizens and that we are ready to deal with issues on a global scale. It would send a clear message to people around the globe that we believe and practice the words of the US Constitution, and that we are taking seriously the effort to form a more perfect union. If Senator McCain were to win the election, gone is the hope of healthcare, gone is the hope of our troops coming home from Iraq and we will be in perpetural war for years to come. A second Great Depression is guaranteed under a McCain administration, only rich corporations will benefit and they will keep the money as profit and not create jobs as anticipated. Gone will be the hope of new energy programs and green jobs, he will drill the US dry of its oil reserves. Foreclosures, unemployment, and more importantly, no diplomatic relations with other countries will be out of control. All McCain covets is war, because that is the vehicle from which he proves himself because he has little else when it comes to leadership. There will be great bloodshed of our sons & daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren chidren. There will be great poverty and homelessness in the US for the next 8 years and perhaps beyond. If we don't turn it around now, we may go past the point of no return. Obama/Biden 08

Well, the Low Information Voters really always show up on this site. I am disgusted at how conservatives throw around the word "Socialist" like the words "***," or "***." It is intended to hurt. It is also intended to inspire hatred. How ugly.

The conservative politicians are much smarter that all of you LIVs. They get you to vote against your best interest every year. How has this fantastic, business rules everything plan been going so far? How have giant tax cuts for the wealth helped you? Do you really think the mass of well to do, creepy religious millionaires really care about you? Not only do they not care about you, they look at you as if you were prey. They get your money and they get your vote. They're not going to overturn Roe V Waid. Are you kidding? They get more votes out of that than they can count. Conservatives just keep being disengenous and you keep buying it. Genius.

Moving right along...If you make 100,000 and someone else makes 1,000,000, you BOTH PAY THE SAME SOCIAL SECRITY TAX! Even though the other person makes 10 times as much money. That is the kind of stuff you are really voting for when you think you are keeping God in pledge, or banning gay marriage or flag buring or some other foolish social wedge issue.

As far as the socialism goes, we just had the biggest government bail out EVER. Privatize the profits, but socialize the losses.

This conservative mess is going to end. Get used to it.

    Reality has a liberal bias.

And what about McCain's Nazi and Latin death swad ties. Do a search, its well documented (its on foxnews.com also).
the U.S. Council for World Freedom
    http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/10/07/mccain_and_the_us_council_for.html

McCain has these ties. However, Obama has not exploited them because supposedly McCain has changed. That is integrity from Obama. McCain has no integrity.

    Yes We Can

      TuthForward:
Good article about the US World campaign but afraid it disproves your point. Mcain resigned from the group because he "disagreed with their activities". Thus McCain has integrity.

Obama denounced the rev Wright and Bill Ayers ONLY when it became politically convenient for him to do so. Thus, Obama is a fraud.

    • Posted By: oregano @ 10/26/2008 10:22:59 PM

Wow! That was a stretch. Unfortunately, Obama has not severed his "ties" with many of his Anti-american friends, politics and policies. No wonder he does not bring up McCain's past. It would be rank hypocrisy..when his own present is full of lies and deceit.

I wonder why you are allowed to write such articles and what makes you think you that any of the information you type is even correct. For one as you mention the fact of people moving to democatic side to support Obama because they were Clinton followers because they were upset when McCain appointed Palin. Now this comes right after you state that the majority of us only vote based on racial issues and bias because we don't know anything about politics. How would that even make common sense. If I was a woman and only supported the female issue and was mad that Clinton lost the primary I would be happy to stay with rep party especially after they got me a woman vp, especially if what you were saying was true and I did not know all the information on the party platforms. I mean the simple issues like the fact that Clinton and Obama for one did not have the same policies so if I did support her woman or not, just because she told me to, I would not move to his camp. The poltics are the issue , and true to fact as we have seen in the last few weeks when they have been addressed in debates (amazing that we listen and read) obama has CHANGED (maybe that is what his change logo is about - he can change his plan at any moment- his tax plans. Especially when he was questioned about them. As to the simple question - Why do we hang up the phone when the survey people call our house? WE ARE AT HOME AFTER WORK WITH OUR FAMILIES and if this article is indication you really don't care what we think you have already decided that if Obama loses it will have nothing to do with the poor political race, environmental issues he has planned, or terrible foreign policy. I hung up the phone on your survey and will not vote early but my family will vote McCain/Palin - We support our Military !

It is a remarkable fact of human nature that the very essence of your own prejudices are the basis of what you believe about others. Alter believes that if Barak loses it is because of his race because it cannot be possible that sensible people would actually vote against him. The cynicism he ascribes to others has infected his own heart. While it may be true that many will not vote for Barak because he is black the reality is that many more will vote for him only because he is black. That Alter never mentions that little factoid throws open the curtain on his own brand of journalistic thinking. I feel sad for people like Alter.

Jonathan Alter expended a lot of words and energy before finally stating his thesis in the last few sentences: people should vote for Obama for no better reason than the fact he is black because it will make you feel good about yourself and/or score brownie points with non-U.S. citizens who think America sucks. Wouldn't that make Obama a "token" black president? Sounds like Alter is trying to lay a guilt trip on Americans out of fear his candidate can't win. Psychologists would label this tactic manipulation. Mature voters aren't buying it.

Never underestimate the capability for the LIV's in this country to do the dirt-stupidest thing they possibly can. They will vote against their interests, and if you spell it out for them in small words and big letters, they'll do it anyway out of spite.

I wonder why Obama is working so hard to help these people. I think the best way to fix this country is to deport the LIV's to the bottom of the sea floor.

Who are the racists really??? Lets have a look.

AJC Strongly Condemns Rev. Jesse Jacksons Comment on American Jews
October 14, 2008 - New York - The American Jewish Committee (AJC) has condemned the Rev. Jesse Jackson's statement about "Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades."
"Rev. Jackson's remarks, which appeared in an interview with the journalist Amir Taheri in today's New York Post, echo classic anti-Semitic conspiracy theories about Jewish power," said AJC Executive Director David A. Harris. "This statement, regrettably, is not the first troubling comment by Rev. Jackson regarding Israel, Zionism and the Jewish people.

Arguing as a private citizen that an Obama administration could bring significant change to U.S. foreign policy, Jackson was quoted as saying that "Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades" would lose much of their influence should Senator Obama be elected president."

I had a lot of respect for your article until the last sentence and that is where I became offended. I have plenty of common sense and I am a decent person. Nothing in this whole miserable election year has infuriated me more than the inferrence that I and other Republicans and middle-of-the-roaders are voting against Obama because we are racists. Did it ever occur to anyone that we are voting against him because he is an extremely liberal Democrat? That we might actually be voting on the issues? The media assumes we are racists and therefore have no rights to an opinion. And you wonder why we refuse to participate in the media BS by answering your stupid questions. Why don't you do some research on the numbers of those voting FOR him simply because he is black, issues be damned? That is where the true racism lies.

  • Posted By: wfwjnr @ 10/26/2008 10:20:22 PM

Jonathan Alter should be ashamed of himself. The premise of his article is that McCain can only win if racism in America and prejudice against Obama's skin color prevail. What an appalling and false premise. There are many legitimate reasons to vote for McCain that have nothing at all to do with racism or prejudice. Mr. Alter's article is irresponsible and a provocation.

  • Posted By: Oregon Dan @ 10/26/2008 10:18:55 PM

The last paragraph in this story says it all "the assumption that the common sense and denceny of the American people will prove the skeptics wrong" . In other words it is not politically correct to vote against Obama because he is more decent and has more sense that McCain? Rightttttttttttttttttt....Yes, that's a lot of the bias of the news media operates under. If it isn't politically correct its wrong. No wonder we get the kind of reporting we are presentally getting. No consideration of who would make the best president, just what is politically correct....What a way to pick a president.

  • Posted By: DingedUp @ 10/26/2008 10:18:39 PM

It is pure sophistry to attribute racism and or ignorance as the sole basis for voting for John McCain. Mr. Alter has determined that a large portion of those voting for Senator Mccain are "LIV"; how does he classify the overwhelming proportion of Blacks who are voting for Obama? He has conveniently avoided any discussion of the rationale for this overwhelming preponderance of blacks voting for Obama. The possibility that Blacks are voting for Obama based on racial bias is not discussed. The relative level of comprehension of Black voters re: the issues at hand is also not conveniently discussed. IMHOP the push for an Obama presidency by progressive's is more a testimony to white guilt , and fear of the repercussions of an Obama loss. Indeed I would posit that many white Obama supporters secretly hope that the election of a Black president will ease the ever present Black hatred for, resentment of, and rancor towards white America. Sadly this will not happen, the dogma of Black liberation Theology (Obama's chosen sect), The Nation of islam, and the unlimited power of the race card as played by racial power brokers (i.e. Jesse jackson, Al Sharpton, Maxine Waters) precludes any healing of the racial divide.

The redneck brother in law is now an Obama supporter as well. Guess he was more concerned about the countries future in McCain's hands than his racist attitudes. I think Dems will vote for their best interests rather than against their fears.

Maddoc... I am a black healthcare professional approaching $250,000 in profit after overhead. We are blessed and hardworking in my office. ... I respect your arguments made at 6:15:32pm. But lets review them...

    1. Do you think Ronald Regan was a good president?... He never served in the arm forces, George W. Bush did not complete his term in the National Guard (reason he had to campaign for a relative in Alabama) Karl Rove, Dick Chenny never serve in any capacity and they are the ones sending young Americans to fight.

    2. Liberal voting record... This term is thrown around alot but never defined in concrete points if the argument is he votes the way his party values line up then the admission of Sen. McCain's voting 90% of the time with Bush puts him in the same partisian hold. Missed Votes... Sen. McCain has missed 420 votes missing over 61% of votes casted to be fair Sen. Obama has missed 303 votes 46%. Olympia Snow (R-ME) and Ken. Salzat (D-CO) were 2 of the 6 Sen. who has casted all 655 votes just FYI.
    3. 250,000 most people don't understand our tax codes... after you graduate hire a tax accountant and pay off student loans (God bless if you made it through Med School w/o loans) your taxable income will be significantly lower than your stated salary. Especially if you are going into private practice... professional school barely brushes the surface of how to manage a well organize PROFITABLE practice.

    4. President Bush has made the gov. bigger and ineffective. Sen. Obama wants to make goverment WORK! Republicans want to make moral life choices for citizens if that's not big goverment what is?
    5. I don't consider my self rich at all I do know my earnings are more than 80% of my fellow citizens and I go by the motto to who much is given much is required. Maddoc we healthcare professionals are on the low end of the top wage earners especially if your not planning on specializing... Sorry to break it to you. You should really research our tax rates and how its appropriated it will put you at ease regardless of who wins in the next 9 days.

    6. This is one issue that I am neutral about... I will say this with the contiuation of Bush/McCain economic policy Mexican illegals are heading to Mexico with out assistance from INS.

    7. Obama is not applying for the FBI... nor is McCain and neither would McCain due to ties with Gordon Liddy if that is the standard bearer... I am not familar with FBI automatic exclusions or pre-reqs for that matter.
    Just food for thought...

If Obama looses, it is evidence that we have not yet lost enough to make us wipe the smug talk radio smirks off of our faces and demand out country back. Look at how much we had lost prior to the 2004 elections (civil liberties, economy, world respect, etc.) and it wasn't enough. We asked for more of the same because of childish catch-phrases. Again, we are being swayed away by similar hollow phrases. If we do not elect Obama, then we do not deserve him and are not ready to admit our errors and do better.

    • Posted By: oregano @ 10/26/2008 10:10:53 PM

Russell: Which civil liberties have we lost? Your profound ignorance is showing.

  • Posted By: galland @ 10/26/2008 9:29:34 PM

Why don't you silly little liberals grow some balls (or brains for that matter) and realize that the use of force through communism is the only way to spread your ideas.

Your simplistic plan of socialist spread the wealth, nationalize healthcare, censor the media are childs play.

I hope Obama/Biden win so a new generation of children can be raised who are trained and embrace socialism so our communist ideals can then take hold and bring some true change to this nation.

    • Posted By: rapidron @ 10/26/2008 10:06:00 PM

You know, McCain stated that people who make over $250,000 should pay more taxes--he SAID SO HIMSELF.
Bush put forward socialism for the rich with his tax cuts, AND was the forerunner for the bailout WITHOUT oversight--TO SPREAD THE WEALTH the way he saw fit. You're so ignorant, this stuff is so simple and you can't get it.

I haven't seen people this worked up over nothing since John F. Kennedy got elected and everybody thought the Pope was going to be running the country. Get a grip, people; when it's all over, no matter who wins, the world will not end, the country will not suddenly turn socialist or communist, and most likely it will be BUSINESS as usual. All hail Wal-mart!
