This statement is for Christians and those who believe abortion is not only wrong, but a very important part
of the election this year. If you are pro-life, how can you possibly vote against it by voting for those who seek
election to govern the United States of America. This is far more important than race. Don't let color be and
issue, Have the courage of your convictions.

How can you call yourself a Christian when you are PRO-WAR??? If it was REALLY about saving humans, you would listen to the words of Christ and TURN THE OTHER CHEEK. But, no, the extreme right Christian are the ones who SUPPORT the continuing occupation of Iraq, call the dead Americans heros, and the Muslims "sand-***." Start telling the truth and maybe God will forgive your hypocrisy. The abortion issue is about controlling women.

Enter Your CommentYour logic is seriously flawed--You argue that because someone, somewhere, sometime (Bush did this, the republicans did that , a church did something else) does not in any way justify THE MURDER OF 40 MILLION INNOCENTS SINCE ROE Vs WADE. Mr Obama is one of the most rabid abortionists in politics today-just look at his voting record. He will certainly appoint more abortionists to the Supreme Court when able. So supporting Mr Obama brings the BLOOD OF THE INNOCENTS ON YOUR HEAD.AS IT IS WRITTEN GOD CAN NOT BE MOCKED. DO YOU REALLY THINK YOU WANT TO ATTEMPT TO ''SPIN''GOD AS YOU KNEEL BEFORE THE JUDGEMENT SEAT OF THE LORD

Nice try in bringing up a wedge issue for political gain. There are those of us who believe that policies that encourage economic opportunity, adequate access to health care, and age appropriate sex education will do more to decrease the incidence of abortion than your self-righteous calls for recriminalization.

There are much bigger issues in this presidential election than who is for or against abortion.

    bemajedareki ,

If Obama were white, we would most certainly be having this discussion. He has NO management experience, never been a Mayor or Governor, never owned or run a business and yet because he comes across as "charismatic" people think he can do no wrong. He has had countless ties with radicals throughout his life and the liberal media has helped him downplay anything that is factually the truth about his character.

John McCain, on the other hand, has served this country since he was 18 years old and so has his wife. Obama has only served himself and that will get even more pervasive if he is elected. I feel quite sure that if he does get elected, a few days after, he will have appointed Oprah, Ayers, Wright and a host of other media and radical types who have either funded him during his lifetime or have shaped his leftist views of America. And those people I have mentioned above have about as much experience to be a part of his administration as he does to be president.

I think each person should vote for according to their beliefs, and I believe that Mccain was such a terrible soldier that he couldn't avoid capture(like so many others did, including my own family members) that he will be a terrible commander in chief

    • Posted By: AnaAustin @ 10/26/2008 7:02:33 PM

What an ignorant reason not to vote for someone! "My relatives didn't get captured, so because McCain did, he would probably make a terrible president."

McCain was flying missions over Hanoi -- do you have any idea how dangerous that was? The casualty rate was amazing. In those missions, only heros went in and the ones who got shot down weren't crappy soldiers, they were merely the ones who were unlucky. Equating getting shot down to his ability to lead the nation as President is Ludicrous! (Though congratulations to your relative for being such an amazing leader that luck was on their side.)

If Barack Obama lost It would be because the Republicans had played with the voting machines like they did in the last two elections, they have had people in many places in the Country fixing the voting machines.

Last night a Princetion report came out saying how easy it would be to hack into the Sequoi voting machines. Thos eare the machines that they are using in Florida and those machines couldn't even handle a small local Judges election in Palm Beach County. Do you think we'll have a problem in Palm Beach County, even though early voting shows Sen. Obama ahead 3-1?

I will leave this Country if Obamam loses.. We will be no better than the Russians last election or many other Countries where the voting is already fixed.

To Concerned Citizen: I don;t think you have any idea how far the Republicans had gone to steal the last two Elections, and it was Thanks to the Christian Right (or so-called Christian) who had a heavy hand in the theft of those Elections. I have to say. I have met many, many people from the Christian right and I have to tell you. I have seen more HATE from them than I have seen from any other group of people. Why is that? I consider myself a Christian. I am an Episcopalian. I would NEVER say the Hatefull things that I have heard from the Christian right. I think you don't even hear yourselves. It is so opposite of Christianity.

I'm fed up with the Obama race issue. It has nothing to do with the color of his skin! People , and main stream media, fail to recognize his affiliation with terrorists, Acorn, Frank Marshal, Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, and his birth certificate!!! All everyone does is focus on another 8 years of the Bush scenario. The media is all for Obama, and is it quite obvious. Stop picking on Sarah Palins wardrobe and John McCains shoes. Get down to the REAL issues. Is Obama a U.S. citizen, or not??? Why is Iran supporting, and cheering for him to win the election??? Where is HE getting all his campaign money from??? Why did He take the american flag off of his plane??? What did Michelle obama ever do that was so wonderful??? Sarah palin is REAL!!! WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!! Do you all want a socialistic, communist country???? Don't you care about the Constitution??? Do you want to pay higher taxes??? If you DON't care then vote for Obama. You will get what you deserve!!!

That's the beauty of this country: The right to vote for whomever you think is best suited and/or qualified for the job regardless of ones race or skin color.

My husband early voted Friday. His father was a member of the KKK way back when. And yes hubby is somewhat racist and he flipped when Hillary fell behind in the primaries because he "just didn't think he could vote for a black man" and he's fed up with GOP. He was really proud of himself for having the courage to vote for Obama. My redneck brother in law - the one who goes to the little ultra-conservative church in rural SC?

    • Posted By: midiri2 @ 10/26/2008 6:51:31 PM

You should be very proud of your husband for realizing that Sen. Obama the Man and not the "Black Candidate. Your husband's childhood must have been very difficult for him. To be brought up with so much hate, makes it difficult for people to love. He must love you very much

let me tell you a story. My father was a man who hated EVERYONE. If he could have been a member of the KKK, he would have, but he lived in NYC. He was the most violent man I had ever met.

My mother on the other hand, was an alcohol and drug councelor. When she moved to So. Florida, she took a job at a prison. Almost all of the Drug users had been brought up in a household that had connections with the KKK or at least hated black, Jews, etc. They too had all been abused as children because as they stated to her " Because that was the way yer brought up and it didn't effect me none" My mother then ask them all. "Do you realise where you are? PRISON"

I find this article presumptious, unproductive and divisive (just read the comments posted). It should not be assumed that racism would be one of the biggest factors in an Obama loss, though it would almost certainly figure into it to some degree. I actually think that you see a "reverse Bradley effect" that more than counteracts the racist vote. Voters in communities where racism is pervasive may be unwilling to admit they are voting for Obama in public, but will vote for their pocketbooks when in the privacy of the voting booth. I have seen a lot of posts here and elsewhere about "Redneck" or "racist" relatives or friends who have admitted to their spouses that thay will be voting for Obama, but who are not saying so publicly. It will be interesting to see if Obama outperforms the exit polls. If so, I think you will be hearing a lot of talk about a "reverse Bradley effect".

  • Posted By: Northern Neighbor @ 10/26/2008 6:49:19 PM

This thing is headed: "Between The Lines." Well, maybe that's an ideal title, since, as one can see, there is nothing at all between these lines., just empty white space. All of which leads me to congratulate the author for being so honest and self evaluating of his work as to head it as what really is: empty white space--except for some smudges, masquerading as sense, here and there.

  • Posted By: commonsensequeen @ 10/26/2008 6:45:53 PM

So if we have any "common sense and decency" we have to vote for Obama? Or maybe we have the common sense and decency to follow what we believe in and not vote for someone simply because they aren't or ARE black...

  • Posted By: ttMo2 @ 10/26/2008 6:37:53 PM

This artucle is a bit silly, presumptious, unproductive and unnecessarily divisive. Let's not assume racism is the primary factor if Obama loses. Also, I think a "reverse Bradley effect" is the more likely outcome. Whites in those pockets of the country where racism persists may vote for their pocketbooks and against the failed policies of the past wheh they are in the privacy of the voting booth, but may be unwilling to admit it publicly. There have been quite a number of posts here and elsewhere that suggest this is happening. It will be interesting to see if Obama overperforms versus the exits polls on Election Day.

    • Posted By: jamel1999 @ 10/26/2008 6:44:20 PM

I agree...i think there are more people willing to admit they WON'T vote for Barack, than there are saying they will and won't...i think If McCain had not chosen Palin, It would be ok...but there is no way that woman should be anywhere near the next position in charge of the US. Her comments alone show she is not trying to unify this country...'Real America', 'Good America'.

  • Posted By: jamel1999 @ 10/26/2008 6:37:16 PM

Sometimes I wish there were not TV's and no You Tube and no Internet... Side by side on paper, no one could disagree that Obama is the better candidate by far, so what is the problem? I think for the most part America is not racist, but not ready. I am a democrat, my I vote for who has that same views as i do, not party loyalty. I have read books on both Obama and McCain. While I am not discounting McCain's experience, his recent exploits tell me that under pressure he's not someone i would want in charge. McCain's camp keeps talking about his being a prisoner of war, he has 26years of experience...but experience does not mean expert...there are people walking this earth that have been having sex for over 30 yrs and are still not any good at it.

  • Posted By: Brian in MI @ 10/26/2008 6:31:40 PM

This is reprehensible. How DARE you claim that the only reason Obama might (but probably won't) lose is because of race. That if McCain wins it will be America reverting back to days of racism. HOW DARE YOU!!! I am going to vote for McCain and I would never, NEVER think any different (less or better) about a person because of the color of their skin. You people in the media are so desparate to elect Obama that you will try to guilt, deceive, and manipulate people out of voting for whom they want as their president. The media is the worst evil that this country has seen in a long time. I am ashamed of you all.

when did i say that only blacks have GEDs? I don't think i said that anywhere in my comment... quick to judge are we?

i voted for john mccain because of these reasons:
        1. i don't feel comfortable having someone (obama) be the commander and chief of our military when he's never served in the military.
        2. he has an incredibly liberal voting record.. all 100 some times he actually voted... wow... which proves that he won't bridge the gap between parties and compromise, as john mccain has done.
        3. i will make over $250,000 once i am done with school. did you go to medical school to be a professional and save lives? if you did, then talk to me.
        4. obama wants to make the government bigger when i believe the govt should play as little role in our lives as possible
        5. mccain wants to cut taxes for EVERYONE, not just those that make over 250,000...
        6. obama wants to give illegal immigrants licenses. i took an entire course in college on illegal immigrants from mexico, i understand the immense struggle they go through to get here. however, i think giving them licenses is absolutely ridiculous, especially for terrorists.
        7. if obama tried to get a job in the FBI or as a bodygurad, he would be turned away in a HEARTBEAT because of his ties to william ayers. now he wants to be the president? GIVE ME A BREAK!

      • Posted By: sadone @ 10/26/2008 2:08:38 PM

I have 6 sons. NONE of them got ANY scholarship or gov't grant to attend college, even though their avera IQ is 138, their average SAT scores arew 1450. How dare you imply that only young blacks cannot afford to go to college? My children are in debt up to their collective eyeballs trying to pay for an education that was practically given away free to others "of color" because of some perceived bias against "the minority". Diversity has become the new buzz word for affirmative action. I'm not sure how I feel about the government playing ahuge role in the lives of its citizens, but I say, if the gov't pays for the education of some, then it should pay for all, and vice versa. Not that this conversation has anything whatsoever to do with the newsweek article, just that I am tired of hearing black racists complain about not gettign enough help from the government. If I and my family can make enormous sacrifices to take care of ourselves, then so can everbody else.

Racism is a weak excuse. If he loses the election, it's because the American people's gut instinct is telling them that he is not transparent and forthcoming with his background. We have only seen what Obama lets us see and if you question anything other than that, you will be silenced

  • Posted By: An American Voter @ 10/26/2008 3:31:14 PM

It's not as big a fear as Obama actually winning the election. When our nations companies like microsoft, Ford, GM, Chrysler (or GM-Chrysler if they merge) move operations to other countries like Ireland and Mexico to avoid the redistribution of their wealth, it won't matter how much of a tax break Obama gives us to stimulate the Economy - it will be what economy. What a tax break so we can spend money on other countries good and services. All Obama's tax breaks will go to supporting all the economies of the world except the U.S. Economy. Obamanomics will be catastrophic to our Countries Economy. The bail out was already a huge step towards socialism. Although McCain supported the bail out, he is at least looking at tax breaks for our industries as well as the rest of Ameerican's. At least under his plan their will be a reason for our businesses to remain in our own country. Under Obama's plan the ones that can leave for greener pastures (read business friendly countries will). We can't all go on welfare and we can't all work for the government,

    • Posted By: treetracker @ 10/26/2008 6:12:17 PM

You really need to read the GAO report on corporate taxes in this country. You have been brainwashed to believe they pay the "highest corporate taxes in the world" - that might be true if they didn't receive tons of tax credits and loopholes among other favorable tax laws. In the end over 75% of them pay -0- taxes. I'm guessing they won't run off to Ireland for an 11% tax payment. For those that do pay taxes, Ireland offers companies incentives to locate there. Companies are primarily looking for a "highly educated" work force (for which Ireland provides grants to educate the work force, along with capital grants & employment grants) - since our educational system has been so dumbed down. Perhaps if we properly educate our children and offer companies tax incentives to stay in the US, we won't keep losing jobs overseas. What a concept!
