I am glad TJJones2008 has trust in the American people because I don't. After voting for an incompetent President Bush twice, I wonder if Americans are intelligent and responsile enough to be entrusted with a democracy.

My concern is not what would go into an Obama loss, but what would come after it. If we saw an increase in protests and applications for Canadian citizenship after the 2004 election, imagine what it'd be like this time around. I'm a white, middle-class, college educated, married homeowner and I'd be tempted to throw molotov cocktails if the presidency was stolen from us again. Obviously that's a bit of an overstatement, but the animus such a result would create would literally tear this country apart.

    • Posted By: McCainforchange2008 @ 10/26/2008 3:54:41 PM

Now we hear the "stolen election from us again" drivel. Aren't we all glad Gore lost anyway?

      • Posted By: TCpolitico @ 10/26/2008 4:12:20 PM

Do you seriously think we wouldn't be better off now if Gore HAD won? Anyone would be better than the total failure that is the Bush administration.

        • Posted By: DWPitts @ 10/26/2008 5:14:19 PM

And therefore, McCain = Bush. Here's the breakdown: The US is a representative government. Our leaders are really reflections of us. So its not so much the man, as it is the people behind the man voting for him. See the logic.

So, as most of these Obama critics are also diehard Bush supporters, ones that cannot even admit the fallacy of ANY of the last 8 years, they want more Bush. Hence, McCain = Bush.. You know they desperately want and need more Bush, too, when you really examine what underlies their fascination with Gov. Palin.

If I hear anymore of these chowderheads talk about starbursts, or how cute she is, or attractive, or sexy, or foxy, I'm seriously going to go barf. What the hell kind of a disconnect is this? Beats the living bejesus out of me. "Good Morning Vietnam". The line: "You are the singly most in need white man....". LOL, never mind. They would be too guilt-ridden AND guilt-driven afterward and would probably try to impeach themselves, lol.

Not that that wouldn't be entertaining as hell to watch, but misusing government time and resources to chase after sexual dysfunction is a serious misapplication of governance and requires government intrusion into people's private lives. Big NO-NO. Stick to the issues, lol..

So what do Bushites want? More war, no taxes, kickbacks on every deal, massive government spending on a select few private individuals while ignoring the massive majority. and the destruction of our cherished and time honored institutions and values. They want to never lift a finger again, to never be bothered with anything, or anybody. Lazy days under the magnolia tree, sipping mint juleps, while the house and field lackeys tend to the labor in exchange for gruel. How charming and quaint. Antebellum 2008. "We don't discriminate, really, WE HATE everybody equally!"

Deal with it. I guess if you hate the human race, you aren't technically racists. BUT, I still think you are pathetic, and unworthy of representing the majority of the people in this country.

Drivel, Drivel.... the RNC would NOT have paid Sproul in 2005 TEN TIMES the money that the RNC had a problem with ACORN for, if they were not HAPPY about the results (Bush winning). Now McCain hires him but that is coincidental also. Let's say if McCain is confident that he will win and Barack is still not, McCain has an ace under his sleeve. McCain is projecting on Barack once again when he is talking about Barack measuring the drapes.

In going through the documents, CRP located nine expenditures from the future: Sproul somehow received a total of $1,323,154 between Sept. 2 and Sept. 29, 2005. Another $472,642 is hidden in 2005. Four of those prospective items were (or will be) for "Generic Media Buys" or "Lodging, Transportation." The other four are (or will be) for "Voter Registration Efforts"--surely an expense incurred in September of last year, not this year.

Larry Noble, executive director of Center for Responsive Politics, considers such future expenditures for, say, "Lodging, Transportation" rather odd, but he gives the RNC the benefit of the doubt. "My guess is that it's an error," he suggests. "It's possible that they're cleaning up voter registration lists in September, but it's also possible they made a mistake."

Even if that mistaken date is just a typo, it is, to say the least, not likely that they made the same mistake in nine uniquely dated items for 2004.

In any case, all the payments by the RNC to Sproul add up to a whopping $8,359,161--making it the RNC's eighth biggest expenditure of the 2004 campaign.

Sproul is currently under investigation by the Oregon Attorney General's office, for altering the voter registration forms of several thousand students in that state. Whether the new numbers are in part mistaken, they represent a huge expense for the Republicans. Given Sproul's history of serious electoral mischief, affecting countless Democratic voters in the last election, it is important that we ask some sober questions: Where did all that money come from? Why did the RNC suppress their real expenditures? And what exactly did Sproul do for all that pay? If we're going to get some reasonable answers, the FEC must undertake a very thorough audit of the books.

Once again, a "journalist" insinuates that if I don't vote for Obama somehow I do not have common sense or decency. How about this: I'm not voting for Obama because I am fundamentally opposed to what he stands for. I don't care one bit that he's black. I would not have voted for Hillary for the same reason. That's why I'm not a Democrat. That's why there are two major parties. Just because I don't vote Democrat doesn't mean that I'm not a decent, caring person who works hard and wants this country to be the best it can be.

Someone gave me a link yesterday that discussed how Demorcratic Congress members were considering Seizing 401ks and putting them in a government account that would yield??????.are you ready? Three percent. Forever.

I was horrified. Here we are in a shakey stock market and our congress is actually considering seizing what???s left of your money so that you can never recover in the long term, much less ever get those nifty dividends some companies pay quarterly.

Some folks use those dividends as part of their budgets. But of course, our fattened Congress doesn???t think about that. They are all doing just fine. And here, these nutball Socialists are thinking of yanking 401ks that have lost money and making it so you not only can never recover, but also making it so you can never earn more than 3%. Forever. That is, if they don???t spend it all like they did with the Social Security money we have all contributed.

Barbara West lost a lot of fans because of that interview. That's what happens when you already think you know the answers and start out most questions with, "ISN'T... and "HOW IS HE NOT..." Everyone within TV shot of her already knew she is way slanted to the right. I'm glad Obama's campaign cut them off with any more interviews... going to suck to be them this week when Clinton and Obama are together in Orlando and they dont get a piece of the action...

Thats the thing about Obama he wants to sit down and show our hand to our enemies, so why wouldnt his supporters run to early voting and show their hand to Republicans. Dems think they are ahead but 2/3rds of the country hasnt voted yet. I feel bad that they will be heart broken on Nov 4.

You know if blacks were spliting in margins similiar to whites then I would say race is no issue. Intersting that a 90% plus black vote is not considered racist but a 40% or so white vote would be. Then we can throw in the threat of violence by James Carville, that if we don't elect Obama America will be torn apart. That seems very racist to me, and Carville should be arrested for assault.

NEWSWEEK would never admit that Obama was not elected simply because radicals seem to like him so much, or that he has less experience than Palin.

So we will see. We will see.

  • Posted By: Elmkid @ 10/26/2008 5:01:03 PM

LOL, No wonder you knuckleheads can't sell anymore magazines. So sick of racism charges! Is it racism in the inner city when 90% of black voters will vote for the black candidate? Let's move past this horrible rhetoric and into the 21st century. As a Yankee (from Chicago originally, and Lincoln has always been my hero too) who grew up in the racist south, the worst racists I see anymore are liberal media like Alter who keep up the conversation. Shut up, grow up, and stop seeing America from "guilt ridden, Rich, Ivy League White School eyes. The country will be better for it, and when we do elect a moderate, intelligent Black man or woman we can really celebrate how far we've come.

  • Posted By: mojojojogp @ 10/26/2008 4:29:47 PM

PAtoTN - we can elect an American who is giving all American a chance to take back contro of their government. He is offering tax breaks to 95% of Americans. I'm not sure where you heard "tax-and-spend" from Obama. You did hear it from McCain in accusing Obama in being the "same-old" type of Democrat. If it is Democratic to have a balanced budget, to have surpluses that actually start to pay down the federal debt, and job growth, then bring it. The rest of your post is a simple repeat of all the GOP mud-slinging at Barack Obama trying to get something to stick. You might want to get word back to your GOP folks - it's not working.

    • Posted By: billysid57 @ 10/26/2008 4:41:58 PM

How is he going to give a tax break for 95% of American if 40% of them don't pay taxes? I'll tell you... welfare!

      • Posted By: regulator1956 @ 10/26/2008 4:54:47 PM

"billysid57: How is he going to give a tax break for 95% of American if 40% of them don't pay taxes? I'll tell you... welfare!"

Clinton, working with the Republican congress changed Welfare for the poor. It's no longer easy to get and keep getting, nor is it a big part of the budget.

Welfare for the rich seems to be alive and the cost to bail-out the banks is massive - and agreed to by both parties.

Lower taxes to 95% of taxpayers has nothing to do with Welfare, unless the recipient is paying taxes.

Let's start living within our means - spend less or tax more - but balance the budget and make a constituional admendment requiring it forever.

        • Posted By: billysid57 @ 10/26/2008 5:00:07 PM

The point was to prove that was Obama said is just an empty promise. I'm amazed that people from both sides of the isle actually believe the rhetoric. Although, I completely agree with your sentiments about a balanced budget budget. Both America and Americans need to live within their means!

  • Posted By: Independent Voice @ 10/26/2008 3:45:31 PM

So if the US does not elect Obama then we are a racist country...

No one is going to deny that there are people that are not going to vote for Obama because of the color of his skin. But I would contend that there are a lot more who are voting for him because of the color of his skin. Somehow I seriously doubt that the 95% of blacks that are voting for him have read through is platform. And what about the countless whites who think if they do not vote for Obama they are doing a disservice to the entire black race?

No, if Senator Obama does not win it is because there is a fundamental urge by Americans away from Socialism. I for one will be glad when this country can talk about an election like adults and not be required to keep our mouths shut when talking about a candidate's policies out of fear of being called a racist.

    • Posted By: LeosRule @ 10/26/2008 4:59:26 PM

Why would you doubt that 95% of black voters have studied either candidate? Why, because they're black and couldn't possibly have any real interest in what's going on in this country and want to choose the candidate they feel will best serve this country?? They're all puppets that will just go with the flow and vote for a black man just because he's black? How ignorant. It's ignorant for you to say that the majority of people are voting for Obama based on the fact that he's black. Absolutely absurd. If you're going to make such a comment, at least be man enough to back it up with some sort of educated proof. Oh, but you can't. Your dumbassed assumption of black voters solidifies my intelligent opinion of you.... you're a f*kin moron.

Barack "Barry" Obama was born in Hawaii, but raised in Indonesia and was registered in elementary school as Islamic, he admits he did drugs including cocaine as a young adult, attended a racist church, was a civil rights lawyer (did he take cases for all races or just African-American?) Does he support bills aimed at giving monetary rewards to African-Americans based solely on skin color under the pretence that all African-Americans have been repressed by a racist nation? Better said, does he believe that the USA is a racist nation? http://www.danielpipes.org/article/5354 , read the facts, there are several different articles bringing the facts to the table. These facts bring even more questions about whether Barack Obama is the best choice for this country. Barack says whatever he thinks the voters want to hear knowing that he can't cash all the checks his mouth is writing.

Where did his money come from? Follow the money.
The media is playing on the ignorance of the general public and especially the young voters.
Why does the media and the entertainment industry want Obama in the White House?
You look at the messed up lives of these people (the entertainment industry) ( not all of them but a good portion) and wonder, is this the right thing? McCain is NOT Bush, don't confuse the two, and how is McCain in any way responsible for the economy? The banks should have prevented this, read about the crash that occurred during McKinley's term as president.
McCain is a patriot and believes in the good of this country, he will do the right things to put this country back on track. Remember, he needs the support of the Senate and Congress to be effective.

An out of context statement on youtube does NOT give you to RIGHT to judge any church. The rest of the comment of Wright was ,,,for turning its back on its citizens. Maybe the reason McCain does not go after Wright is because Wright enlisted TWICE in the military once in the Marines and once in the Navy shortly after the integration of the military I wonder how was military life was for him as an African American and he STILL reenlisted. The same time that Cheney received 5 deferments.. The same time, McCain was nicknamed "songbird' not only as a POW which the information is now sealed, but for quietly leaking information to the press for Keating 5.

I convinced two of my neighbors, HRC supporters whose feeling got hurt that they should, indeed must, vote for Obama because a McCain Presidency would send could easily send both of our teeneaged children to Iraq,..or even Iran..

My friend Tammy turned her one vote into 5 by converting her centrist Republican parents and two LIV she knows who never watch news shows.

My husband helped register guys at his work..his vote counts for 6 now..

And we hand delivered the ballots (our county is ALL mail in ballots) to the courthouse.

And that is EXACTLY why we ARE going to WIN this time.
