Job opportunity for Obama if he loses the election: TENT PREACHER - that way all those "lost liberals" will get the help they need to feel a little better about themselves

It is disturbing to see the nonsense of the majority of "comments" I've seen not only here but everywhere. It seems to me that there is no discussion, only ranting. I see the postings from the same people over and over again wherever the format is offered. I see nothing constructive. I see division and flawed thinking. If this is the best our country has to offer it shows the ovewhelming need to improve our education system. Civics should be a mandatory course before voting. If you don't understand it, how can you have an opinion?
Name calling and bullying should have no place in a civil discourse. It's worse than high school.

This country is in severe trouble if Obama is elected - it won't be a free America with changes he'll walk through the Democratic congress (loosers) - increase taxes on those who are the jobs, supress free speech, abort any child any time...........pretty soon we'll be just like France.

I want to see a UNITED States of America, without all the negativity and hate mongering I have seen come out of the Republican campaign this year. I want our country to be respected around the world--not vilified as it is now. I want us out of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I want us to use diplomacy in place of force wherever possible. You must be kidding right? Negativity and hate mongering what planet are you from Lucy? Obama stays quiet while his media friends bash Mccain and Palin trashing her familt menbers, attacking Cindy Mccains drug addiction from twenty years ago. While Obama admits to using hard drugs in his younger years where is the story on his drug habits? I'm very afraid that if McCain is elected, he will not make it through his first term--he looks ill wow listen to yourself are you a doctor he has passed many health tests Lucy get a grip. Oh and Sarah Palin is not prepared? Obama has done nothing but make good lawyer/preacher like speeches. He is a lawyer without a published paper, never ran a company or an executive of anything, he has many ties to bad bad people but we should all look past all that. Please dont use experiance in your fight against Mccain because your guy has none. Just because your pick of Hillary did not pan out your mad he picked another woman what a joke. If Mccain wins it will be because the people of America came to their senses. Not even two hundred days in the senate voted 130 times present just say the word change and we have a winner what a joke If Obama wins it will be the end of The United States as we know it libral dems will rule till they ruin all that we have and had like they always do. Thats why they never stay long in the white house besides Clinton who is the only dem pres to win re-election in my lifetime.

I think articles like this will drive voters to McCain as much as McCain's negative ads might drive voters to Obama. How convenient that this article will be published in the next Newsweek to be issued Nov. 3rd, although I'm sure home recipients have already received theirs.

To clear up a few other points: McCain was on an air craft carrier when another jet expoded on deck, not his. He was fortunate to have survived. Others did not. As for what he may or may not have told North Vietnam while they were "torturing" him. Who wouldn't? It's a testament to John McCain that he later went back to Vietnam to reconcile with the past and try to retrieve the remains of other soldiers. God Bless our troops, current - past - and future.

Obama's ill-conceived programs will require him to tax, and his health care plan alone is a substantial hidden tax on all business, large an small. In reality, it does not really matter who he taxes, those taxes are going to be passed through the economy. He has to tax, because it is they only way he can pay for his massive social engineering experiments. Any first year economics student knows that taxation is a tool used to contract an economy experiencing inflation, because it reduces demand by reducing the amount of money individuals and businesses have to spend. It is contractionary, which is exactly what you do not want to do when the problem is that the economy is contracting already into recession. Like Hoover and FDR, Obama's plans will only make it worse for longer.

    See e.g. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/10/03/opinion/main4499465.shtml

How many full-time employees with benefits does a person with a $50,000 income personally employ? For most, none. How many does a person with $250,000 employ? One less under Obama???s tax plan, two less if you include Obama???s health plan.

What do you really know about Obama's economic philosophy? Since he has never run a town, state or business, he has no record to look at. Oh, he has made lots of promises, but given that he broke his promise to be limited to public campaign funds, you cant put much faith in that, and there will be no means to keep those promises anyway.

But you do know that Obama, along with his democratic buddies in Congress, personally and professionally advocated for a residential housing policy favoring forced sub-prime lending, which subsequently resulted in massive defaults and foreclosures, leading to your loss of significant equity value in your home, to the point that it destabilized your banks, which panicked the stock market, which wiped out your savings.

Look and listen to Obama for yourself. Obama in this video, addressing his community activist work and his work representing ACORN in litigation against the banks and relating to the Community Reinvestment Act, and addressing the failure of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae as those actions relate to the destruction of our economy by causing the current real estate and subsequent financial crisis, states that, and I quote:

"Subprime lending started out as a good idea, helping Americans buy homes who previously could not afford to. Financial institutions created new financial instruments that could securitize these loans, slice them into finer and finer risk categories, and spread them out among investors and around the country, as well as around the world. In theory, this should have allowed mortgage lending to be less risky, and more diversified."

Acknowledging the catastrophe, but as apologist for the Democrats, Obama then offers this justification.

"The original idea was a good one, which was, lets see if we can distribute risk more broadly, and make it easier to provide loans to people who otherwise might not be able to get one."

Yah, great idea. Economically unsound, but embraced by Obama. Listen for yourself. You cannot dispute the mans on words recorded live:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lr1M1T2Y314&feature=related

Below is a link to C-SPAN video clips of the Congressional hearings at roughly the time McCains attempt at S.190. to fix Fannie and Freddie. See for yourself who said what.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MGT_cSi7Rs

In the exchange with "Joe the plumber" we find learned that Obama really is as radical as his early political acquaintances, Davis, Ayers, Wright, etc., and that he is into the failed economic policy of wealth redistribution. Obama's tax and spending plans alone would be bad enough, but add Reid and Pelosi to the mix, with the three of them controlling both houses of Congress and the executive branch without any effective restraint, and you have something that should causes concern even among moderate Democrats.

Most of the people I know are white ,and you know what, we all vote for this young man Obama we don't care were he comes from and what his collar is,his blood is the same as ours. He is an smart guy who can try to get our country back to normal after 8 years of Republican distruction of America.

Why are you angry? It was your party in place for the last 8 years and you are more than happy to have another 4?

  • Posted By: Lucy Montana @ 10/26/2008 4:17:58 PM

Someone out there asked by Obama should be elected. I believe he should be elected because he is an intelligent, thoughtful young man who will surround himself with other intelligent, thoughtful advisors and make intelligent, thoughtful decisions. He has a calmness and classiness that shows vs. McCains erratic behavior and temper. He has a running mate in Joe Biden who has a lot of experience in government vs. McCain's very unqualified (but attractive) running mate. (She was a very popular governor until the national spotlight was shone on her and all her crooked political tricks were outed.) Yes, Obama is young, but that might just be what this country needs right now. We have a lot of "old" politicians, but isn't it time for the next generation to take over and maybe turn this country around. We haven't done such a good job of it in the last 8 years!

What we shoud fear is black racism. Racism from whites to blacks have reduced in America, but now we have reverse racism from the blacks. I???ve noticed many whites are scared to pur McCain-Palin stickers on their cars because the blacks might burn their cars or kill them out of anger.
Barrack Hussein will not win, because of all the Women, Hispanics, Asians, Whites, who have experienced the Racism by Blacks with their racist attitudes in society and movies. No they will not vote for Barrack Hussein, who is a racist along with Oprah, FarraKKKan, rev Wright, Michelle ???I hate Whiteys??? Obama, Spike Lee, Malcom X, black comedians, hip-hop and rap non-artists like Ludacris, etc.)
We all know that Hispanics, Asians, women, and whites just ???SAY??? they will vote for Barrack Hussein just so the blacks won???t show them their angry faces, violent behaviours, and direct foul words at them.
Don???t trust the socialist media polls or ACORN polls, they poll only ???undecided voters??? which are basically just socialist democrats with no backbones.
Barrack Hussein is too shifty and he has not shown who he really is and has not connected to real voters. We still don???t know who he is or what he really thinks.

GOD BLESS AMERICA (not God D@! AmeriKKKa)

Would Osama Bin Liden vote for Obama bin Biden?

Why does it not surprise me that someone who hates blacks so much is from Texas. I am a white woman and am much more afraid of ignorant individuals like yourself who will find some way to be against blacks - even when you make it up. You are truly a sad individual who has nothing to spread but hatred.

Sorry kids, I'm not a racist. I did not vote for Gore(white) or Kerry(white). I don't vote for democrats of any color. I have lived all my life in the peoples republic of Maryland, as blue a state as you can get. High taxes, high crime and low morale. A democrat is "robin hood". He robs from the rich, takes a cut for himself and gives the rest to his pals. Obama/Biden is someones idea of a bad joke. Only gonna tax the "rich"? Yeah, when pigs fly !! watch out mr. and mrs. america, don't get caught "rich" or you will end up paying the room a board for the mama of the guy who steals your car....

As a 42 year old female, this is my sixth Presidential election. I was raised in a household of a Republican father and Democrat mother and was encouraged to educate myself to the issues, match them to my beliefs and vote with both my mind and my heart. I have already cast my vote in this election and feel confident that it was not wasted regardless of the outcome of the race.

I am required every time I apply for a job anywhere to release my educational information. The names of schools and dates attended, transcripts of my grades and occasionally my credit report and a copy of my birth certificate. This is for the protection of those who are willing to take a chance on me, in much lesser positions than President of the United States. Why has Obama refused to release any of this information? How can we ???hire??? a man who we know nothing about? How can we rely on a man whose family ties, birthplace, citizenship and ???friendly relationships??? are all in question?

Listening to Obama in the debates, all that I heard was raise taxes and spend. I am a middle class American. I took student loans for my education. I have applied myself for years to get to a point where I can provide a little better for my own children than my parents could for me. How is it ???fair??? to take from me and mine to give to 40% of Americans who have never paid income tax? Under Obama???s plan they will rely on me and take from me what little I have.

However, the economic plans and citizenship questions are not even my biggest concerns. Recently Obama???s own running mate stated that he will be tested by terrorists within the first six months of his Presidency. Either Biden knows something and is trying to deliver a message to those undecided voters who still may err on the side of Obama, or he doesn???t and is therefore simply trying to scare America to the polls. Either way, I think Biden is a very intelligent man. On its face this seems like a statement of ???what everyone knows???. Perhaps, though, he is trying to protect himself in a twofold manner. He previously stated that he would not want to be a Vice President under anyone but McCain, now he has jumped to the Obama ticket. This message would seem to indicate that he either doesn???t want Obama elected as President (to keep things kosher with McCain) or he wants him in, in case there is an attack and it results in Obama being ousted or worse and Biden being promoted to President.

John McCain was not my first choice for President. However, my head and my heart cast my vote for the Republican ticket as the lesser of two evils. I believe that his experience and relationships within Congress will help us to move forward as a nation. Whether he wins or loses, I can sleep soundly knowing that I did not relinquish my beliefs in the election process, the sanctity of our Country and the honor of the men who died for the right to cast my ballot.

    Underground Sanity ,

First of all, McCain does have a son who chose to go into the military as did Governor Palin's son. Remember, this is an all volunteer military so those who join choose to do so. They are not pressured into it, but do so freely. And what average powerless citizens are you referring to? No one who chooses to join the military is powerless. Everyone has choices in this life and you either make hard choices or easy choices.

If everyone chose not to be a part of the brave, selfless men and women fighting for our freedoms and those abroad, we would not be the free nation we are today, one in which the entire world envies. My father and husband both fought for this country to keep it free and even though I can't join because of my age, I would pick up a gun and defend my country in a skinny minute...would you? Or are you just one of the takers of the freedoms that men and women have fought and died for, instead of the participants who step up to keep
    America free for future generations?

As a Vet who did fight for his country and to defend the rights of its citizens it always bothers me when others who have done so (or in your case only pat themselves on the back for "woulda had but didn't") that when they see Americans exercising those rights - speaking their mind, disagreeing with YOU, voting for their candidate of choice - it seems to anger you so much. Shalom:

As Amercians citizens living in Jerusalem, we've three concerns,

America's closet racism, second Obama's absolute closet socialism, and third, Obama blinked first, second and third, on the really significant issues, that showed McCain had the moral and ethical high ground and so we've already voted for McCain.

It's to be noted, this vote is only AFTER having supported Obama in the primaries; since as former Democrats we've been independent for over twenty years and this is the first time, I've ever voted Republican.

It's really very simple John and Sarah, both deserve, absolutely, our vote. While its to be noted we're NOT much impressed with bubbles, 'viral media,' rock star rallies, nor socialist Europe's love of America's star socialist, nor do we believe Biden would make a better President than Sarah Palin, all things being equal which they will be on Nov. 5th, 2008.

I have read and listen to the voters' comments about every topic that are part of and some that just plain doesn't make since. IF the first thing that comes out of your mouth is "I''m not racist" guess what, you are known for what you are thinking. He is both black and White. America are you thinking about the 1% of African American blood again? America is known for being bosterous. Have any of you ever lived outside of America and got a good glimse of the repretation America has built? Stop and listen It is time for a change. America can't keep up this awful charade. America has lost a lot. It is not the big cheese anymore. We need someone that people can trust, will do what is needed to turn this country around. to get rid of the lies, the underhandedness, the cheating, the deceit that has cause this country to fail. If you do vote for McCain you rather go broke, maybe you don't like eating either. Remember, he will continue with the plans that are already in place. (deceit) Maybe Obama's plans are simple. A lot of what is happening is solved by simple plans. We don't always need the difficult plans to settle things. Think twice before you make another stupid comment. Think twice before you vote. Think about what America really need. Peace, Peace, and a clear conscious mind, Life, Liberty and the persuit of happiness.

"Barack Obama's campaign killed all interviews with a Florida TV station after Sen. Joe Biden, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, faced tough and critical questions from a reporter at the Orlando station, the Orlando Sentinel reported. In a communication which serves to put all other media on notice that an Obama administration will exercise media blackmail in response to tough questioning, the Obama camp killed a WFTV interview with Biden's wife Jill, according to an Orlando Sentinel blog.

"This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election," wrote Laura K. McGinnis, Central Florida communications director for the Obama campaign, according to the Sentinel.

McCain has also cancelled interviews and refused to appear on on programs etc. Even when mere campaign mouthpieces had to deal with hard questioning - see Campbell Brown and Tucker Bounds then canceling on Larry King (both of CNN). Sarah Palin has been insulated from any sort of real questioning from the press. For good reason it seems the few times they've actually allowed her to be subjected to off the cuff questions regarding any real understanding or knowledge and not just parroting divisive campaign talking points. But RE: the Biden interview. It was hardly objective questioning. It was all McCain attack lines. Which would be at least "fair" if McCain had been subjected to the same intense (and skewed) questioning by that same reporter earlier. But not only was he only given total softball questions by her, his interview consisted of only being asked about the SAME RNC anti-Obama tropes. So much for the leftist MSM.

With ten billion a month going to fight a war we should have never engaged in, our dependance on foreign oil increasing, our education system in dire need of reform and jobs being lost to other countries, its time we take care of our own. Invest in our own people and our own. We need to care for our elderly, our veterans, and the health of all our citizens, and educate our young to be able to compete in a global society.

I am ye of little faith in republican rule (not that I had much to begin with) We need a govenment focused on the happiness of its own people and not moving to take away its rights as in GOP movement against gay mariage. We need to instill faith in our government and inspire our people to action. MCain/Palin are conservative flat liners...I feel no need to elect a ticket that will prolong a war, push their values to exclude others and feed the rich while the poor and middle class bear the burden.

Where can one find fault in helping americans who are the victims of a monopolized capitalist system unable to afford health care by stemming the tide of rising costs? Where can one find fault in ensuring that all americans can get an affordable college education if they desire? And who would argue that our first step in international conflict should be to attempt to negotiate and reason before the use of force and loss of life?
Who will cast the first stone when all the money spent on war is instead spent on creating jobs, providing healthcare, feeding our hungry, educating our youth and helping its citizens live prosperous lives?

Conservative republican rule does not allow for this sort of thinking. Liberal views are needed to keep our country open minded and progressive so our government can provide for its people. We need to remember our government is there to serve its people. I believe Obama can be the impetus of a positive direction that our country needs right now.
